DNF @ 51%. I just couldn't take any more of this book. The main character and her mother are the two most paranoid characters I have ever read. Maybe if they were self-aware of it, I could have handled it, but it was so over the top and ridiculous. I just can't with this. ...more

I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them, so this was no exception. I found that the story was fast-paced, suspenseful and it caught my attention quickly as I got pulled into the story. I have to admit, Norma threw me off guard once the real story came out and I began to see what was really going on. Well done! I am a suspense and thriller author myself so when I read other authors I am always thinking outside the box when I read a good thriller, trying to see if I can figure out ...more

*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

I’ve read a few of N.L. Hinkens books and have loved every single one of them, so when the chance of reading of an ARC of her latest book became available, I jumped at the chance to read it!

The first aspect that I loved was reading this book through the eyes of both Sonia and Ray. It really gave me a chance to piece together what is happening and what was true or not. The author is very clever in sharing these two characters’ thoughts because it kept my mind spinning almost the entire time I was

I absolutely loved Never Tell Them by N. L Hinkens. I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading Never Tell Them. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I kept trying to figure out what was really going on. Who does not love a psychological suspense thriller with a surprise ending? Once again N. L Hinkens has shown that she is a master storyteller. I love how she developed the story line and the characters. It was an incredible psychological suspense thriller and had me guess ...more

When Ray and his son move in next door to settle his mother's estate, Sonia can tell right away that something is off about them. Sonia's daughter, Jessica, takes to the young boy immediately, affording Sonia the opportunity to do some investigating of her own in order to try to protect Henry. Sonia's own past has set her on a collision course with Ray's demons.

Overall, I did enjoy this novel. I though the story was told in a very interesting way, and that the plot itself was solid. The pacing w

I completely enjoyed this book from cover to cover! Never Tell Them by N.L. Hinkens is a wonderful psychological thriller with "changing bad guys". When Sonia's older neighbor dies she meets her neighbors' long absent son, a cagey Ray Jenkins and his son, Henry, who arrive to settle her estate. The more she sees the father and son duo the more she "knows" something is terribly wrong. As Henry spends time with Sonia and her daughter they start hearing strange things from Henry. The child seems te ...more

A fun, fast read.

Sonia was curious about her new neighbor, Ray, whose four-year-old son, Henry, seemed to be a stranger to him. Few things about the child had her suspicions about the father ringing loud. She went snooping.

My first book by author N. L. Hinkens, the story built up my curiosity with every page. With two main characters, the author sure packed a good amount of suspense.

The story did not have a deep plotline or well developed characters, but the subplots were convoluted enough to ca

When the author reached out to give me an ARC, she said that her editor "didn't see one of my plot twists coming. It's hard to surprise an experienced editor so I'm taking that as a good sign that there will be at least one jaw-dropping moment YOU WON'T SEE COMING EITHER!" Of course, I took this as a challenge and tried to guess the various twists.... I failed at this challenge.

Nothing is quite what it seems in this book. As soon as you think you've have it all figured out, NL yanks the rug out

N L Hinkens has done it again , written a book which has hooked me in to read in two sittings!! I received an ARC e copy to read and review and it always excites me as Hinkens' writing grips me from the first pages . The minute Ray Jenkins moves into his mother's house next door to Sonia and her mother, something seems off. He has his 4 year old son with him and things he tells Sonia's daughter Jessica, things he has been told to "never tell them" just don't add up to a happy family. After Ray loses his memory in an accident he is as much in the dark and Sonia and the reader are. Hold on for the ride! You won't see this coming! Don't start this book close to bedtime. One thing you can always count on with N.L. Hinkens’ books - nothing is ever quite as it seems. This is the fourth book of hers that I have read and is probably my favorite.

Lots of suspense and shocking secrets. It kept me guessing to the end. While the ending may seem to be a surprise, there were breadcrumbs along the way. Masterfully written with perfect pacing. Both your fingers and your heart will be racing through those final chapters. Well done, Ms. Hinkens, well done. I am not going to sa

A thrilling story with twists and turns that gets you hooked from the beginning. Besides crime there is a deep importance given to positive family relationships, respect, friendship, inclusion. Brothers who had been separated from each other for such a long time who could heal their wounds if they had time together. A husband who was frightening deceitful, children who needed family to properly grow up. A most entertaining reading!

I have been reading N.L. Hinkens since her first psychological thriller and she just keeps getting better.

Never Tell Them kept me glued to its story until I reached the end. The mystery surrounding the new neighbor had me turning the pages to find out who he really was and what he was hiding.

Somehow, no matter how much I think I have figured things out, there is always a surprise!

My thanks to N.L. Hinkens for the ARC. I truly appreciate it.

I received an ARC of this book from the author. It’s a tense mystery that reveals hints a little at a time. I honestly thought I had figured out what had happened, but as usual, the master of misdirection surprised me. I’m always impressed by books from Norma Hinkens, and this one is no exception. She consistently creates complex stories with complicated characters and keeps me guessing until the end. I loved this book and highly recommend it.

There’s danger, suspense, drama, murder, kidnapping, child abuse. It just about covers all the bases. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves an entertaining mystery. This is not my first book which I have read by N.L.Hinkens and she always surprises me with her original and twisted plots. The last her book “Never tell them” is also fantastic! It grabbed my attention on the very first page. Full of action, suspense, drama. I couldn’t put the book down! The action and the suspense are never ending. I love a book that makes me guess to the end, and this is that book. Strongly recommend!

Things aren’t what they seem

The author leaves you questioning everything from the beginning. A new neighbor moves in with a young child. The child barely speaks and when he does, he makes disturbing statements. The neighbor Sonia is left questioning whether the boy has been abducted. But things aren’t always what they seem. I think the best part of this book is it keeps you guessing until the end. While you may think you have it all figured out, the ending will surprise you.

This is a really good book! Had me guessing until the end. Really had my attention. Couldn’t put it down. The characters were compelling and easy to fall into like or hate, whichever was necessary. I have read books by this author before and she never lets me down. I know I’m in for a ride, when I pick up one of her books! I was lucky enough to get an early read from her.

As others before me have said I never saw it ending the way it did. So much dysfunction with this group of characters. Makes one wonder does this kind of horrific and abysmal behavior happen in real life. Second thought; don't think I really have to wonder for very long because I am nearly positive it does. In one form or another.

Mrs Jenkins passed away and her son Ray moves in with his son Henry. Henry does not have a birth certificate or an immunization record for school. Henry tells play mates about abuse and everyone looks at Ray as a monster. Everything is not what it seems. A real surprise conclusion to this thriller.

Wow! This was a fast paced domestic thriller that kept me glued to the pages. The characters were quickly developed and easy to like. I foolishly thought I solved the mystery about halfway through but I was VERY wrong. I was blindsided by the twists and can’t wait to read more from the author.

This book was just okay. It was certainly NOT one of my favorites. And I’m a huge N.L. Hinkens fan! It had a good twist at the end. But it took a LONG time to get there. Unfortunately, it repeated things quite a bit.

A man moves next door with a young son. A child who is fearful of the man who claims to be his father. Things aren’t what they seem!
