Yolanda Olson is one of my favorite authors, and I love how she always pushes my limits. Definitely not one of her darkest but still dark. It’s medium Gray. So, needless to say, ot some push my limits. But overall is a good story. I debated between 3.5 Stars or four stars. When it comes down to it, the story is well written and did capture my attention. It a quick read, and I love how the two sisters are boss b!tches
After reading La Carnicera, I knew I would be reading every single book in this series. I'm a huge mafia junkie, and Yolanda doesn't disappoint. Even being quick little reads, they still pack a punch, especially the endings. ;) Spoiler alert: if you don't like cliffys, then this series isn't for you.
I won't go much into detail on the story, mostly because I loathe plot spoilers in reviews, but here's the basics. Tatiana wants to be a monster. She's far from it, though, and deep down, she knows this much. Despite her darkest demons, she could never truly be a monster like her sister, not when her heart is made of gold. There were certain scenes that really tugged at my heart strings and showcased just how big her heart is. She loves hard and fights harder. When it comes to her family, she'll do anything to ensure their happiness and well-being.
That said, if you're looking for romance, you won't find it here. This novella is strictly mafia with a few erotic moments thrown in the mix that help progress the back-plot.
Overall, La Princesa is another fantastic installment to the Sicarios of Navolato series, and I cannot wait to see where Yolanda takes us with book 3!
One thing is FOR SURE when picking up YO book. You're in for your shock boundaries to be pushed and tested beyond limits. She creates disturbed heroines and disturbing scenarios and not only you start believing in them, sometimes **shudders** you sympathies with them. Tatiana Cancio is such a heroine. She's older daughter of Le Señor, the top Mafia head in a fictional city of Novalato.
She has a penchant for toying with her sisters leftovers **shudders **. Oh, her younger adopted sister- Ana Sofia is a twist further in the weirdly psychotic way. What she hacks, Tati plays with..*ahem* till she achieves a release" Omg!! What is wrong with you Yoly?
(As if I don't know) but like I said, her stories are a rabbit hole and I'm already sliding down rapidly, so on to La Carcinera, I mean what could go wrong..rt? The Mighty Tongue Follow me on: Email🌻 Bookbub 🌻 Twitter🌻 Instagram🌻 Blog🌻 Facebook🌻 Amazon 🌻
This book is a short story and the first book of the series. Were introduced to the sisters Tatiana and Ana Sofia both beautiful, feisty, kick ass Queens who work for there father. Both trying to do out do each other and get in their fathers good books. Olsen has set the scene with female leaders as mafia members which is rare in itself. I can't wait for the rest of the series of The Sicarios of Navolato. This book has a dark trigger scene, read with caution.
If you're looking for a new dark and dirty mafia/cartel series to jump into, then look no further. La Princesa may be a short story, but it still promises an escape to lose your head in. Just make sure you hold on tight for a mind-whirling experience. Only Yolanda will make me abuse the phrase WTF, but it's always in a surprising and gratifying experience. Tatiana Cancio holds all the confidence and sex appeal of a woman that means business and with all the power that her father's name implies. You wouldn't want to be found anywhere near her path. Get ready to have your mind blown.
This is the prequel for the Sicarios of Navolato series and should be read prior to La Carnicera.
Now we get to see exactly how Tati helps the family. When things don’t go as planned at a meeting, suspicions are raised and threats are inferred. Tati may not be as brutal or violent as her sister yet she is lethal. She will do anything to protect those she loves. And threatening her family isn’t a great way to make friends.
At least I found a few answers to my previous questions Q: WTF is going on with Lorenzo “Enzo” Munoz? A: looks like he snuck in an assumed control of the Vargas cartel upon Miguel’s disappearance, per La Carnicera
Q: Who the heck is El Gringo? Is he the American at the meeting? A: Frank is still a mystery until next book but he is definitely not the guy from the meeting, I think. Frank is dark hair, blue eyes. The informants dirty blond with green eyes.
Q: The man with the shoes hasn’t shown his face yet. A: after what’s revealed in the last moments of this book...tick tock...I wonder if Enzo isn’t behind Sofi’s attack
Now drop everything and go read the newly expanded an rereleased version of La Carnicera. If you read it in the Girls Night Vol I anthology, you’ll be blown away with the new content.
DAMN! Tatiana and Ana Sofia are my girls!! They are both devious, fierce, sexy and deliciously twisted. They have a bond that is stronger than blood and would do anything for each other. This prequel story about Tatiana packs quite a punch to the jugular. It’s one hell of a ride into the life as a princess in the Cancio Cartel.
Tatiana wants to be a badass like Ana Sofia but her heart is just not as black as her sisters. She does have her own demons tucked away tightly and only lets them out when they demand release, which happens on occasion. Tatiana has a big heart and would do anything to prove her worth to her family. She is in the process of becoming one badass queen!
With phenomenal characters, a dark and delicious plot, this story will hook you right from the start and keep you utterly enthralled begging for more at the end.
I can’t wait for the next installment so I can dive further into the Cancio Cartel life.
Very short read. Nothing really happened 🤨... and what happened, didn't made sense to me.... at all! 😕 Tati looks like the 'normal' girl in this story... until there is this scene when she uses the still warm severed head of her friend (just minutes ago killed 🔪 and chopped 🪓 to pieces by her 'sister') to get herself off?? 🙄 Creative -very Yolanda Olson- and the only interesting thing that happened in this book. 🤣 I've read several books by Yolanda Olson; none of them were really 'hits' for me! The blurb for this book looked really interesting and I just wanted to give one of Yolanda's books another try. However... after reading this book, I am sure: Yolanda Olson is not for me! Lots of people seem to like her work, but I don't seem to 'understand' it? Which is fine. We can't all like the same things 😊 right? All that said: I still won't say I will never try another Olson book again. That's the weird and inexplicable thing: 😉 her creative, sinister, twisted mind (and I mean that as a compliment!)... the blurbs, the covers, her FB group: it all appeals to me, intrigues me, and looks amazing. And I can't stop wondering and hoping that maybe, against all odds, the next book will be a 5 star read?? I actually rarely rate a book less than 3 stars, but 3 stars for this story would make all my other ratings unbelievable.... so ⭐️2⭐️ stars it has to be for La Princesa.
The Sicarios of Navolato: That's what I mean; I'll probably gonna read book #2 anyway! 🤣
I’m really confused....did I get a bad digital copy of this book and everyone else read something else?
I’ve never read anything from this author before so I was really confused while reading this. This book didn’t seem to actually have a plot. Like, none. Plus I kept noticing gaps in the storyline. One second she’s driving around with 2 guys, they get out, then they suddenly disappear when her sister walks up? Did the dude just leave his car and run? Then when she’s done talking to her sister, she’s magically back at her own car somewhere else. Did they teleport there? What about all the bosses back in the meeting? Y’all just gonna dip out and not discuss that “set up” situation? Your not gonna ask your sister why she left the meeting to go grab shaved ice with someone? This is just un logical...😣
Plus just lots of other weird situations where it felt like the author forgot to add in the transition either in a physical situation or in the dialogue itself. It was just weird and choppy. Like a rough draft rather than a finished work.

I first read La Carnicera in the Girls Night Anthology and had no idea that Sofi's sister would get a book before her. I am so glad she did. It gives us a better look inside Tati and I loved her. I love the way Yolanda writes. All of her books dont need to be DARK DARK DARK to be amazing. Superb. Now I am off to listen to La Carnicera even though I read it because I love everything this author does. 5 stars.
I am confused by all the 5 stars reviews and the reviews themselves.
I knew something was wrong when I had already reached 50% of the book and we had barely been introduced to the characters and their role in the cartel, but we still did not have a plot, no main goal or main obstacle. I actually don't think we ever did. I still don't know what the point of the story was.
I was told this would be a dark read with a strong FMC. I'm not sure about either. I guess there is one scene you could say is dark, but again there was no point to it. I felt it was there for shock value, because it didn't affect our FMC, didn't shape her or change her behaviour afterwards. As for the strong FMC, again, not sure I can agree. I think I can sincerely say there were 3 occasions in the book where she needed/could have taken action. Twice she went to someone else for help. And the 3rd time, I guess she showed mental fortitude but, to me, it felt like the decision she made did not match the character the writer had been trying to sell to us throughout the book.
In La Princesa, first of several in the series, you get to know Tatiana, a cartel boss' daughter and the sister to the feared Ana Sofia. Tati wants to prove that she is just not beauty, there is more to her then what the shadows of her father and sister have her in. As I continued to read, the more I was team Tati. Her love for her father, the strength to protect her sister and a secret habit. She's a bad ass boss b*tch. Can't wait to dive into the rest of the series to know how everything plays out.
“I take a deep breath and press down on the gas pedal, heading toward a mission that could help our father’s empire—or bring it to its knees.”
La Princesa is a prequel to the Sicarios of Novalato. Tatiana Cancio is the princess of the Cancio cartel, she learned her place early on in life. She follows the rules, is stern, but fair and doesn’t initiate violence. Her sister Ana Sofia is better known as La Carnicera who steps in whenever blood needs to be shed. These women have a position, but they need to know it when living among men who are vicious and brutal.
What a fantastic start!!!! This is a short read but oh so good. This is book one in Yolanda's new series Sicarios of Navolato and what a start. We meet Tatiana and Ana Sofia the daughters of a cartel boss, and they are both just as dangerous as their father. Where as Ana Sofia is feared, Tati is not to be pushed aside as she is just as cunning
This is a great into to the new series and can not wait for the rest!!
This book blew me away! Tati is a badass no matter how you slice it. In this book she’s attempting to prove herself among her family, and bring herself out of her younger sisters shadow. This book definitely starts the series off with a bang and I can’t wait to see where this goes!
There is really no storyline in this book. It just moves all over the place and leaves you confused. There isn't enough information on the characters to help draw you in and there are parts where they just end and leave you with no clue as to what happened.
What I received from KU was more like a rough draft.
I'm not rating this, as I'm not really sure what it was. More of an introduction to characters, than an actual story. I did find the world they are in very intriguing, so would be happy to read more about these people, but just as is, I was disappointed.
What a way to kick off this series! I'm definitely more than intrigued now! Yolanda always has such a way with words that I'm hooked from the get go and this book is no different!
Tatiana Cancio, La Princesa de Cancio Cartel, had fierce love of her sister Ana Sofia, La Carnicera; undying loyalty to her father La Senor Vincente Cancio, leader of the Cancio Cartel; and a deep, dark secret she would do anything to keep!
This was a Outstanding start to this series author Yolanda Olson never disappoints I just loved every page of this 5 star must read and this is already made my top 5 for 2021 ❤💕❤🖤❤💕❤
