Clear and comprehensive, personal and factual, informative and compelling. The best book on yoga I’ve ever read. This book is so much more than a series of yoga practices to do. It dives into the many layers of yoga practice. Highly recommend for those looking to expand and deepen their practice.

I am only a quarter of the way through. This is a book to read slowly and enjoy thoroughly. If you follow the instructions, you will get a better sense of what your body should feel like when you are in proper alignment (in your poses and in real life.) When you know your body, you do not need mirrors or teachers to help you with your alignment (at least not for the basic poses.)
I'd recommend 'Kripalu Yoga - A guide...' to people who already have experience with yoga taught by a qualified instr
This book has a lot of good tidbits and food for thought! Not only do you learn about yoga, but there are plenty of meaningful anecdotes and he also touches on mindfulness and meditation, as well.I gobbled it up in about a week, which is good for me! As I am a very busy gal!

“Here. Right here, right now bring your mind to this place and time. Invite it, even if it resists, to sit and witness what it is to be alive. Let there be no ulterior motive in this moment but to be. Rest on the waves of breath and choose to experience all of it. Let thoughts float through and leave again, as the mind slowly settles like snow inside a shaken paperweight. This is all there is. Here. Right here and now.” 0 likes
“It was in Warrior Pose that I understood that my role as a mother must include both deep-rooted stability and openhearted freedom. Practicing the Warrior, my feet press firmly into the earth. My core is stable. I am grounded while my torso floats free, vulnerable, open and welcoming to the fates. The morning after sending my twenty-year-old daughter back to college, I went to my yoga mat and realized that this is precisely the balance I was seeking with her quest for independence and my desire to support and protect her. Instead of a tug-of-war between protecting and letting go, I saw that practicing the union of these two essential qualities is the way to love my daughter completely.” 0 likes
