When Greg is hired to renovate Chaynie’s library, he helps Chaynie with her Valentine’s Day task. Chaynie never planned to stay long in her home town, as there is little chance of her becoming a lead librarian. However, when she receives a job opportunity in another state, Chaynie must reevaluate what is most important to her.

Throughout the story, Chaynie is finding herself. What does she want in life? What are her goals? She is conflicted between her ambition and her ties to Morgan’s Grove and spends much of the story learning more about herself and her main priorities. She is a realistic and well-developed character who feels pulled in many different directions.

The story highlights relationships – friendships, family bonds, and new love are all explored. The relationship between Chaynie and her mother, for example, is wonderful and one of my favorites in the novel. Her mom is so supportive and understanding and is definitely Chaynie’s biggest cheerleader. Chaynie also supports and comforts her mother as she deals with moving on after the loss of her husband. Their encouragement, understanding, and unconditional love show a deep and strong bond that I adored.

I also love the budding relationship between Chaynie and Greg. I love that Greg, who is super patient, kind, and generous, doesn’t pressure or push Chaynie and instead moves at her pace. Greg and Chaynie are both at crossroads in their lives, and they develop a close bond because of that. Their connection to the community, as well as shared goals and morals, also deepens their connection. However, Chaynie is so busy trying to figure herself out that she doesn’t see what’s right in front of her.

The small-town feel is charming and cozy and, like the first book in the series, makes me want to live in Morgan’s Cove. I want to visit the library where Chaynie works and eat at the bakery that the characters frequent. The community programs, like the Valentine’s Day event and the books clubs hosted by the town library, are things I want to sign up for. There is a comradery among the residents and a lovely, welcoming feel to the town.

A clean, cozy, and charming story, Meet You Under the Stars is a lovely story for readers who enjoy small-town romance. Thanks so much to Traci Borum for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. ...more

This is a delightful follow up in the Morgan Grove series. It is a stand alone novel as the story is about a character from the first novel. It isn’t necessary to read the first book to get the impression of the little supportive town of Morgan Grove.

From this blurb, this book reads as a romance novel. Sadly, for me this was more of a general fiction novel instead of a romance. Greg and Chaynie are more friends than lovers, even after they admitted they liked each other, at 95%, it didn’t feel genuine. The story is told from Chaynie’s POV and we get a complete lack of attraction for Greg through the majority of the book. She pushes her friend to go after Greg multiple times, which was a major turn off for me. And even after she gets some butterflies towards him, she even states that she feels they sputtered out. We never get Greg’s POV in this book and I feel that didn’t help the situation. Greg ended up feeling like a flat character. We barely get any real emotion from him and while he is nice and courteous, there was never a real spark between them.

What I did like about this book was that it showcased great friendship and family environments. Chaynie and her mother had a very strong bond. They have meaningful conversations, they are writing a book together, and they always supported each other’s decisions. Greg and his father also had a great relationship. They worked together to renovate the children’s section and you could tell they cared about each other. The other side characters, like the Sassy club members, were all great characters as well.

I feel that if this book had been listed as just a general fiction novel, I most likely would have rated it higher because I would know what to expect going in. But since this was listed as a holiday romance, I expected more emotion and attraction between the characters, which made me disappointed in this book.

If you are looking for a sweet, clean, romance read then you might want to check out this book and this series. This is the second in the series about a small town in Texas called Morgan's Grove. This is the type of town I would love to live in versus the big city. It has charm, lovable characters, and just enough tension to keep me interested in what could possibly happen next.

This story focuses on Chaynie and Greg. Morgan's Grove is a small town and they happened to have gone to school together but Chaynie didn't really remember Greg very well. Perhaps that was good because they were able to get to know one another as they were now without any preconceived notions about each other. I liked how they were friends first before realizing that perhaps there was something more there than just friendship.

Chaynie's job in the town library would be a dream job for me as much as I love books. But she is stuck in an assistant librarian role and she wants more and applies for jobs outside of the town to try and make use of her knowledge and experience. After all, the current librarian doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I really enjoyed the Valentine's Day event she planned for the library. Greg gave her the idea to make it an event for everyone, not just couples. Considering her feelings about the day, this was a brilliant idea.

I thought the relationship between Chaynie and her mother was beautifully portrayed. They are both still mourning her father's passing which is a strong bond for them. But they both want each other to succeed and be happy in life and they have a few projects they work on together which explores their talents in a few different areas.

The only thing I would have liked to have seen is more of an appearance of some of the characters from the first book, like Jill and Rick. There are mentions of them but no appearance and there are a few times when it would have been expected to see them.

Overall an enjoyable book and I can't wait to see who is featured in the next book. We give this book 5 paws up. ...more

I have loved every book I've read by Traci Borum, and Meet You Under the Stars is no exception. The way she writes just makes you feel as if you've come home. They are sweet romance books, but the romance isn't "in your face" romance. It's subtle. It's realistic! Now, I have read other clean romance books where the characters fall in love in like two hours...slight exaggeration...and have loved them too....but not always. This was a very slow burn romance, and I mean v-e-r-y s-l-o-w burn. So slow, in fact, that you barely recognize it's a romance and not just a couple of good friends hanging out in the library together. I realize that a lot of times, that's the way it works in life: best friends realize they want to become more than that to one another. But I don't read romance novels because I want to read about real life. I read them because I want some escapist fantasy about a beautiful girl meeting a handsome This was a very slow burn romance, and I mean v-e-r-y s-l-o-w burn. So slow, in fact, that you barely recognize it's a romance and not just a couple of good friends hanging out in the library together. I realize that a lot of times, that's the way it works in life: best friends realize they want to become more than that to one another. But I don't read romance novels because I want to read about real life. I read them because I want some escapist fantasy about a beautiful girl meeting a handsome boy, where they fall madly in love, have to face some insurmountable obstacle between one another, figure out how to solve it, and then live happily ever after.

There was none of that in this novel. There was a beautiful girl and a handsome boy, yes. But they didn't fall madly in love with each other. They were just kind of...there. And then they became friends. That's it. Two friends, pretty much. Hanging out at the place where they both happened to be working. And there were obstacles, yes, but nothing that was insurmountable. It was just life, is all. So I guess what I'm saying is, I found this book sort of sweet, but mostly slow and b-o-r-i-n-g. The rest is all details.

If you like that kind of story line - I know lots of people do - then this might be exactly what you're looking for. Apparently there is a whole string of novels all set in the fictional town where this one takes place, and so maybe you are wanting to make sure you catch the whole series. In that case, by all means, read this book. It's definitely not bad - no glaring errors, no swears, no racy bodice-clutching sex scenes - nothing objectionable in any way.

I guess I just couldn't relate with any of the characters, or the town, or what any of them were going through. Even the main character's name - Chaynie - was difficult for me to relate to. I didn't even know how to pronounce it in my head as I read - Chaynie like chain, or like shane? It sounded too cute and too precious for a grown woman, and I have to confess, it immediately put me off liking the character, as shallow as that may be.

This story is just not what I, personally, look for when I'm reading novels. I mean, I know it's not going to be fine literature, but there was nothing in it that made me think, each time I had to put it down for whatever reason, "Man, I can't wait until I can get back to that book!" So it only gets 2.5 stars from me, rounded up to 3, for being "meh" in every way.

Cozy, clean read that's more about the community than a romance. I really enjoyed the author's Morgan Grove novels, but the "charming town" element doesn't work as well for me with the American setting (perhaps because I am too familiar with the reality?) I had preordered this and didn't realize it was Valentine focused (not a bad thing, but I probably would have waited a month to read it if I'd realized).

This was an interesting romance story. We see the friendship slowly build. We know Chaynie is attracted to Greg, but because her friend is interested in him Chaynie doesn't pursue him. Greg didn't get the memo.

This charming story reads like a Hallmark movie. It has lots of community and family elements that draws the reader in and keeps you glued to the story. Chaynie was in a relationship that ended on the holiday and she never fully recovered from it and as a result she doesn’t do Valentines Day and when she is put in charge of the library’s Valentines Event she has misgivings.

This book has everything I love. The small town setting with a library as the main setting is perfect. The characters are sweet and relatable. Chaynie is looking to move up in the library world and leave Morgan’s Grove. Greg has just come back home and is looking to set up roots. Meet You Under the Stars is another beautiful romance by Traci Borum. This second installment A Morgan's Grove series was a delight to read. I adored Chaynie and Greg’s story and loved their chemistry.

This is a heartwarming and entertaining story about being open to opportunities and listening to one’s heart. I enjoyed Chaynie and Greg and watching their relationship grow.
