My Thoughts:
This book, The Emperor by author Ram Joshi, revolves around the life of a Penguin, Em. The book narrates Em's ups and downs and its perseverance to fight against any odds that he faces. This book also happens to be an excellent inspirational book to the children that gives small targets but will help develop will-power to meet any situation in life.

What to expect from the story?
Expect an eye-tantalising story set up in Antarctica.
Expect an innovative story that depicts the life of a Penguin.
Expect an interesting story of ups and downs that a Penguin faces that can be augmented to human life.

Who can read?
The story is as entertaining as inspiring. Children, teenagers and any people looking for a small gateway towards inspiration can read this book.

How good are the characters?
Though we have Em as the central character, every property used in the narration like the mountains, Em's friends, or his thoughts - everything are the story's characters. This is one of the nice things that I observed in the book. A detailed description made everything in the story a character.

How good is the narration?
The narration in the book, be it about Antarctica or Em's lands or life or life struggles, is an absolute treat. No wonder if a reader visualises herself or himself alongside Em while the story proceeds.

How good are the language and grammar?
A simple good, comfortable and understandable language is used in the book. This language makes the book much easier to read.

How good is the author's writing style?
Author Ram Joshi has written this book in an appealing language that is accessible to readers universally. His description and illustration of the story setup take over a reader's mind in a snap. Getting this kind of attention if surely because of the author's interesting writing skills. The liners and motivational quotes that flash at the end of the book are quite striking. One of my fav lines is: It is within you. It is within us.

How entertaining is the book?
This book by Ram Joshi is a fiction tale of how a Penguin lives his life in Antarctica's lands. The words Penguin, his lifestyle and Antarctica are the game changers in this book. With his simple and accessible language, the author takes his readers on a journey of life's ups and downs of the protagonist Em, the Penguin.

Reading the lives of the wild world in an Animal Encyclopedia is a usual practice. But reading a book from a Penguin's point of view is as good as watching The Lion King movie where the animals talk! But this story, The Emperor is set up in the contemporary world as the humans and Em experiences it's life like all the humans do. This type of setup allures the readers, and thus the book is a definite entertainer.

The Emperor is the story of a Penguin Em in Antarctica who has big dreams and ambitions like anyone of us but doesn’t have the courage to pursue them.

The book is so positive and motivating that at every stage it makes you smile and boosts your confidence little by little. There are instances in the novel where Em rises, falls, and then rises again.

Em, one of the penguins in the icescape of Antactica. It is an allegorical story where Penguins symbolise humans.

Penguins are smart, loyal and highly resilient. But every resilient thing atleast for once faces insecurities on its way towards its success.

After loosing his parents in the brutal environment, discouraged by his tribe, having self doubts, join Em while he begins his journey towards the unknown lands. It's a story of never giving up!

“The Emperor” is the story of a penguin that lost his parents at the very early stage of life and learned everything from his own. Em, as called by his friends, has a dream, a dream to fly, a dream to climb the mountain and see the world from the top of the mountain but being a penguin who have wings but couldn’t fly it was next to impossible for him to make his dream a reality and so Em dropped the idea but this dream of him was not letting him live at peace.
Em shared about his dreams with his friends and elders of his pack, after listening to him everyone made fun of him, the elders tried to reason with him that being a penguin it is an impossible task.
All the negative talk settled in his mind and hence once again he backed off but a moment came in Em’s life when it became possible for him to keep himself away from the thoughts of climbing the mountain, so he decided against all odds and readied himself for the journey.
Read this inspirational novel to find out what happened with Em, the penguin.

What a masterpiece this book is. From the story of a penguin Ram Joshi has shared very important message. It takes courage to walk on a path which was never used by anyone. And the journey become more difficult when you get no support and others only try to pull you down but if you’re determined to achieve something and have a strong willpower, even god help you.
This book left me with so much to think about, I was able to relate with Em and his story so much and this little penguin succeeded in teaching me such a valuable lesson of life.
The writing style is flawless and the language used is beginner friendly. The Emperor reminded me of two books: Who moved my cheese and The Ultimate Gift and trust me guys this book is no less than the other two books.

I recommend this book to each and every one of you, go buy your copy and learn the lessons taught by Emperor.

I learned so much from Em, he is an inspiration, he taught me how to fight with my fears and how important it is to celebrate your smallest accomplishment.

I love Penguins, they are my spirit animal or shall I say bird. As soon as I saw the cover and the title of the book, I was hooked. There are different types of penguin species and one of the those species is 'The Emperor Penguin'. This book is like an origin story of how the Emperor Penguins came into existence.

Antartica is actually a beautiful place and totaly underrated. The amounts of effort it takes to survive in such extreme weather is tremendous. The beautiful, cute, adorable and most of all resilient, penguins live there. The narration is from One penguin's POV, his name is Em short for Emperor. It was written in third person. The central theme of the story was the conflict people have in choosing to follow their dreams. Even though it was from a penguin's aspect, we humans have so much learn from it.

The story revolves around Em, he is a young penguin in his tribe. He lost his parents at a young age. Everyday of the penguin's life is a battle for survival either from the predators or the weather conditions. Every year, they lose so many of their brethren to both. But tiny Em has a dream, he wants to go to the top of the mountain and see what's beyond. He wants to explore the unknown and satisfy his soul. But the elders in his tribe, say it's impossible. He would die without his tribe. So, Em puts his dreams in the backseat and trudged on. Afterall, he is a bird that cannot fly.

Will Em achieve his dreams? Will he have the courage to explore the unknown? Will he die trying? Read to find out. People who loved the Alchemist will definitely love this one as well.

The Emperor is a sweet tale of a penguin who ventures out to discover life. Em, the penguin loses his parents in his childhood and finds himself growing up in the company of his friends.

During winters, every year his folks come out on land thus escaping the frigging cold of winters. In his usual wanderings, Em sees the mountains. He is instantly fascinated to know what they are and what lies beyond. He shares his dream about hiking to the mountains with hi friends. Having brought up in a very reserved environment, his friends remind him of the potential dangers. And, Em drops his plan.

Ever since that incident, Em always finds himself questioning his existence. He seems depressed. A fateful incident kills all his friends and he realizes the true meaning of his life. He decides on going to mountains and pursuing his dream. What happens when Em goes to the mountains? Is he successful?

The Emperor reminded me of my favorite cartoon, Pingu. I could visualize the scenes of this story playing right in front of my eyes. The narration is simply amazing. The language is simple and clear. You will be reminded of your grandma's bedtime stories when you read this one.

This story motivates you to follow your dreams. It teaches you to never give up. No matter how hard achieving your dreams might be, you need to take that plunge just like Em did.

The Emperor, Live the Dream is the story of a penguin Em in Antarctica. Though he was attacked when he was a baby, resulting in a scar and lost his parents early, he managed to survive in the hostile weather conditions in Antarctica. He would look at the mountains at a distance and dream of climbing them. However, when he discussed his dream with his fellow penguins, they discouraged him. So he confined himself to the daily routine of searching for food and spending time with his penguin friends. However, one day, some of close friends were killed by the leopard seals, and he realized that he could be the next victim. So he decided to climb the mountains. The rest of the book is the story of his adventures climbing the mountains
This is a well written book after extensive research of the life of penguins, weather in Antarctica. It is relevant for people living in India, since conformity is valued by society and government, while those who take risks are often criminally defamed, cheated, exploited, subjected to human rights abuses, denied their fundamental rights. A good book for those who hesitate to take risks, fearing failure.

So, It's a story of a small penguin 🐧 trying to explore the whole world. He didn't want to keep himself in a closed box, as his fellow penguin 🐧 does.
While he traveling the whole world, he faced hurdles, also he learned how to get over them.

The Emperor is the newly released book of the author, Ram Joshi. It is the story of a Penguin in Antarctic who has big aspirations and dreams like anyone of us but doesn’t has the gut or confidence to go after it.

The story revolves around this very cute and fat little Penguin, Em. The characterization of Em was so real and wonderful. The way Em’s character developed with each passing page was gradual and phenomenal. Em is an outstanding protagonist whose thought process and dedication will motivate anybody who is reading about him. The author had created Em’s character so very beautifully. The maturity level of Em was tremendous, while reading the book, the readers simply cannot stop adoring Em.

The author had beautifully narrated the story from a Penguin’s perspective, he also threw some light on the life of Penguins in Antarctic, how they live and survive together as a tribe. And he had also told about their limitations and the constant danger that encircles them. The way the author had written the details of the book will immediately take the readers away to Antarctic and make them feel the extreme climate of it by just being in the enclave of their homes. His writing was that powerful and strong.

This book had a lot of motivational and inspiring sequences which will bring about a lot of impact on the readers’ minds and hearts. It was really a short book and his writing style made it a very quick read. Anybody could finish this book in one-sitting. Though the book is short the impact it had made on the readers will linger on forever.

Em’s character felt so relatable, the character has been structured in such a way that every reader could see themselves in Em. The little Penguin had so much emotions and feelings bottled up within himself and whenever that raises its head, his character became even more real and heartwarming.

It is always quite difficult to write a story from an animal or a bird’s perspective for adults (basically anything that’s not human) because it might be quite difficult for the readers to get into an animal’s shoes and see the world from their eye. Once the relationship is accomplished between the reader and the non-human protagonist, then it is obviously a success. Very few authors were able to do that and Ram Joshi is one among them.

My views

So, I basically believe a book will happen to you when you needed it the most and so far that’s how my reading journey has ever been. When Mr Ram Joshi told me about his new book, I simply read the blurb, I couldn’t even make out what genre it was but something in that blurb and the cover intrigued me so much that me want to read it right away. So, I jumped at the first opportunity to read this book. After this pandemic, I usually quarantine my books at least for a week but with this book I couldn’t stop myself. I immediately opened and started reading it and finished it in no time. It was such a good book. Thank you so much Mr Ram Joshi for giving me this wonderful opportunity.

I loved Em so much, I used to love Penguins so much as a kid but as I grew up I almost forgot that I loved them. This book rekindled my love for them and made me have a closer look at their lives.

Em was so very adorable and inspiring. His dreams and the things he does to accomplish it was really wonderful. He taught me a very important lesson that I needed to know right now. He has given me the strength and self-motivation to fight and struggle for my dream.

Dear Em aka Emperor you’ve brought about a good change in me when I needed the most. I hope I will be as daring and strong and smart as you and I will fight hard to be so.

I would like to recommend this book to all the people who have a dream but isn’t strong enough to take the first step towards it. This book will brighten up your spirit if you’re low. This book can be read by anybody from a child to an elderly person. Do your spirit, heart, mind and dream a favor by reading this book.

The Emperor by Ram Joshi Book Review: Penguins are known as creatures who are cute, adorable and sometimes lazy with unique mating techniques. Sometimes they also become week in front of humongous predators like the seal or snow leopard. But, what happens when a Penguin becomes a subject of inspiration and he is the supreme anecdote to growth and motivation? Well, that is what this fable uses and highlights, the journey of a Penguin. The story narrates about a penguin Em, an orphan whose father lost one day while hunting for food and whose mother died. Only his mother called him Emperor and had a lot of believe in him. Em struggles to grow up mostly feeling alone, sad and in pain because of an injury scar in his belly. He recalls the teachings of an older penguin on how to survive his life in the harsh whether of Antarctica and lives accordingly growing up with friends and hunting food and playing. One day, Em even tactfully saves himself from the attack of a snow Leopard but things were soon to change for him. On another bright, sunny winter morning he heard a voice and saw a bird flying over and above the big high mountain where the penguins cannot even reach. And, from there Em changed. He started viewing his world with only a particular aim, to someday climb up that mountain and cross it. But, if on a certain day he remains motivated, the other day he remains sad, demotivated and lazy almost forgetting his target. Years pass and slowly the promise he made starts to fade. Now, he starts to make excuses. One day, he shared with his friends his desire but only received validation for his dream and disencouragement and suggestion to forever abandon his wish. But, when all this dear friends gets brutally killed, he reconsiders and starts to thing positively towards his wishes and eventually he makes fear his friend and after successfully winning over all kinds and forms of barriers and physical wounds, finally he climbs the mountain and reaches the other side of it. He returns after many years, shares his insights and starts to make his dream bigger also amongst others making the penguin tribe culturally educated as well. He becomes their Emperor. This book has said to dream big and never to stop doing so and achieve big. We humans always have a longing within us, a bigger dream achieve some more, do something more bigger and better, in short achieve a milestone. But, we don't have wings. This book encourages us to continue to progress ahead towards our purpose that will only help to fulfill our passion. Maybe, there is a little penguin within all of us that leaves things in between and at this certain point we need to wake up that Emperor within us that will emphasize us to work harder cause an Emperor has the greatest of authorities. A simple, short and good book that gives us one of the most important life lesson, this is a must read for all.

The Emperor by Ram Joshi is a motivational book filled with subtle yet prominent hints of philosophies and a succeeding mindset. In literal terms, it is a story of a penguin that dreams of something unusual and despite all the hurdles and disappointments continues on his journey to achieve the unknown.

This book is not just a story about the life of penguins but is a metaphorical representation of human life. The resemblance and the uncanny similarity between their worlds and ours have been explored by the author beautifully. I felt entranced by the beautiful descriptive writing style of the author.

The writing style as I have mentioned before is beautiful and descriptive. The story is portrayed from a third-person omniscient narrator viewpoint and somehow didn’t peer deep into the mind of the protagonist, our penguin friend, Em the Emperor. The story flows easily and is full of vigor right from the beginning. There is stirring energy even in the restlessness of the penguin. The topics that are mentioned in this book are well explored and researched, each detail in minute accurateness. The beautiful description of the Antarctic region suddenly turned my entire mind towards the vast land covered with endless snow and icebergs. I was transported to that world all the while I was reading this book. The minute details about the penguins and their packs made me curious about that fantastic creature that I had only witness on screens.

Despite these beautiful descriptions and lofty stories, there lied a story within a story. It was not just a normal story but a call to heart, from one human heart to another. It felt that the author is speaking from his own experiences (which he is, I read about it later) and wanted everyone else to learn from it.

I really liked this world and story because rare are the days when a story as simple as that touches your heart and makes you wonder about your own paths. This story took me with itself and made me believe in my path. Dreams are weird things, when fulfilled will blow your mind, and when not will turn away your mind. The same happened with our Em, he followed his dreams despite the setbacks and difficulties in his path and at the end achieved what he wanted to.

This is so true for human life. We all are so bound up in silly routines and petty fights of life, we always postpone the very thing that makes our existence bearable – our dreams. The time is never right thus, you need to grab the opportunity and embark on a journey of your life.

The Emperor is a bestial allegory that traces the aspirations and experiences of a human being. I loved reading this book for two particular reasons – the intense research involved in developing the premise of the book, and the fact that the protagonist is a penguin.
If I were to list down the various themes present in The Emperor, then it would include the usual ideas that I have read and raved about in almost every book review this year – dreams, reality, hopes, despair, regret, insecurity, faith, and the list goes on. In short, it is the same old bunch of themes that most of the new Indian authors nowadays explore. Yet, The Emperor stands apart from the general lot for one particular reason – the structure. A text, whether prose or poem or play, is made up of the themes it upholds, the structure in which the themes are presented, and the language in which all these are conveyed. And The Emperor ticks off the first two points for sure. Considering the fact that it is a novella, The Emperor makes the most from the span of a mere 130+ pages. The book quite wonderfully superimposes the internal turmoil of a human being with that of a penguin. Or, you can also interpret it as a book that narrates a very human experience, through the perspective of a penguin. To be precise, it works both ways, and we have come across similar kinds of bestial fiction, in Perumal Murugan’s Poonachi and Barry Cheema’s Your Destination Has Arrived (though the concept is reversed, in this case). Most importantly, however, I was awestruck by the magnitude of the book’s premise. Set in the snow-scape of Antarctica, the very plot itself testifies the author’s study of the geography of this desolate continent.
However, while The Emperor does quite well as far as thematic features and structure is concerned, the language was not up to the mark. In some parts of the book, The Emperor seemed to have a lacklustre style of writing. There were some inconsistencies in the narratorial aspect as well. Yet, I might as well excuse it as a slight wrinkle in this grand design of a wonderful story. I look forward to more such stories of hope, motivation, and belief.

Emperor, known as Em among his friends, is one of the thousands of Penguins living in the Antarctica. Em loses his parents when he was a few years old and then on his life, like everyone else in his tribe revolves around surviving the harsh winters and moving back and forth between the ocean and land as the seasons changed.

On one such visit, Em wonders about the mystery of a nearby mountain and the life that lay beyond it. While his friends and the elders of the tribe discourage and make him realize the risk involved in moving to a new unknown place, a feat never accomplished by another penguin, Em who initially withdraws this idea. However, after a freak incident, Em decides to rekindle his curiosity to explore the island and reach the mountain, all by himself. After a life of security and daily routine, will Em be able to accomplish the unthinkable and how will this journey change his life forms the rest of the story.

As the author mentions Penguins are known to be the most resilient creatures given the sort of environment they inhabit and their unique lifestyle. However, their resilience is confined only to daily survival and the story explores what life experiences one can expect when they go beyond their comfort zone. Though the story has been narrated by Em, it is evident that the author has chosen the protagonist as a Penguin while the whole narrative could as well be of a human.

Em’s dilemmas, insecurities, fears — all reflect what we go through on a daily basis; when we set out to achieve our dreams and goals which seem unrealistic at the outset, mocked by those around us but are achievable only through patience and perseverance. The author smartly wraps a self-help book in a fictional setup; the USP being the story being centered around an animal which is not always considered for a story premise.

The editing could have been better as there are couple of grammatical mistakes. The story starts slow and takes a while to pick pace; the cover is impressive and relevant for the story. The message delivered through Em however makes up for other short comings.

An inspirational story, narrated in simple words, this story is relatable by all ages and is a heart-warming one.

First, huge thanks to the author for providing me with the beautiful copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The book follows the life of Em on his journey to achieving his dream. How he conquers his self-doubt and the fear of being away from his people, that is keeping him back from working towards his dream.

The writing style is Awesome with a capital A. Each line of this book is so inspiring that every paragraph can be quoted.

The book is fast-paced yet it covers all the elements, every difficulty (both mental and physical) faced by a person in his/her journey to success.
Making it easier and enjoyable to read the chapters are very short (which is one of the many reasons I loved this book).
As it's short, each chapter is to the point but that doesn't reduce its worth. There is so much meaning in those short lines that I may not have realized some of them.

Talking about the protagonist, whose journey we follow, is very connecting. There were so many things which I could relate to. Some of them being:
1. The Procrastination before starting the journey.
2. The self-doubt we all face during that time.
3. The fear of failure and the unknown danger we might face.
4. The anxiety of leaving the life of comfort and fun and starting the journey. And many more.

It's also great in the way that the author has covered many critical aspects (that I mostly don't find in self-help books).

One of them being, in today's world where everything is present at our disposal we hardly decide to achieve something. We become used to these comforts and never think about our dreams maybe because we think it's impossible or we doubt our abilities.

Each small victory and the lessons we learn from that is many times ignored by us, but they matter the most.

All in all, this book is great for those who are looking for some quick enlightening read. Also, if self-help is not one of your go-to genres, then this is the most promising read you can get.

What caught my attention is the author’s dedication—‘Allthe crazy ones who do not have wings but have a dream to fly.’ Interestinglyenough, I could imagine what the pages can offer. It wasn’t a spoiler, yet itdid let away the essence. I was ready for the adventure.Apparently, this is a story of a penguin, Em, whocraved an aerial view; for which he needed to climb the mountain. The harshand merciless climatic and geographical conditions of Antarctica posed to be abigger obstacle. But, Em never gave up. He succeeded in his endeavour.Only if we read between the lines, we couldinvariably see ourselves within the penguin, Em. Our hopes and desires oftentake a huge shape, and seldom do we chase them. Our inability to fly becomesour only reality. Nonetheless, Em persisted. Eventually, Em and his hardshipsbecome our inspiration and hope. His motivation and unstoppable willingness toachieve the goal has not only surprised us but provided an impetus to move on.The narrative has the essential girth. Yet thelanguage, which is a very simple cake to bite on, lacks the intensity at times.Even though it does lose reader’s attention at times, the book does contain anamazing and heart-warming story.The author has adeptly toyed with multiple themes ofhardships, hope and despair. The narrative might have concerned the penguin andhis desire to enjoy an aerial view, from the snow capped mountain. But, humanemotions and their sentiments are very well reflected through Em. The recentyear has been hard and extremely scary for many of us. With the pandemiccausing widespread destruction and desolation (both physically andpsychologically), many had fallen apart as they tried making ends meet with theirlife-dreams on stake. This book is the hope that teaches one to stand up afterbeing shoved in the wrong direction. A positive and motivational book is theneed of the hour as many of us begin to start anew.

A story of self- confidence, helping oneself, living upto your dreams and doing everything possible to bridge the gap between reality and one's aspirations. 'The emperor' is a story about a penguin, earlier mislead by the unusual perks of his wings, dreams of reaching one such mountain peak and strives towards the impossible till his breath extinguishes itself. A story of perseverance and strong will, the story is metaphorical to one's depth of will power, to the adversity life throws at us and also, the coping substances that we're gifted with that we must learn to embrace.

It wasn't a glorious journey for Em. He had to face certain obscurities and challenges along his way, but he didn't give up. Even at times when he was unsure of his life, he kept on going towards his goal. Whether through the success story of a resilient creature like a penguin, or through the subtleness of the vices that earth has in store for one's fate, this narrative is one which ensures us that anything and everything is possible by us, if so believed. The little unconfident penguin at first, finally succeeds in his fellow's eyes as he emerges victorious in reaching the mountain peak and awarded the respect as 'The Emperor' of all. With self-motivation and strong will comes power, and with power and modesty comes respect. And so it is that is wanted of all human beings.

The narration was average, the employment of metaphors via a small cute creature was comforting and the language was relevant and simple. The plot was inspired and the life of the penguin was motivational and throws an optimistic approach on life. A light sweet read which makes us realise a lot of realities. The narration, however, could have been a bit smoother which ultimately cut points in favour. The cover and title was apt and the story, a pleasing one overall.

'The Emperor' is an inspiring tale of a penguin name Em, who dreamed about flying one day with his wings wide open in the blue sky. He knew that penguins are incapable of flying yet he believe he could. Even though he won't be able to fly with his wings still there will be definitely something similar to that through which he can reach his dreams. Determine to fulfil his dream he started his journey towards the peak of the mountain. He was mocked and laughed by his tribe calling him a freak, but he did not step back. Can Em reach his destination?

This book was a wonderful way for me to start this new year. The character of Em was so inspiring and adorable. I mean, who doesn't like penguins. They are so cute. And the way the insecurities and thoughts of Em was highlighted, I feel that the author did an amazing job. To read about Em felt like looking at a mirror. The doubts that arise in everyone's mind whenever they try to do something out of the box is always questioned and demotivated by the society. Everyone is expected to follow a herd. Of course it feels safe, but what I think is that it's better to face difficulties than live a life with regrets. And this is the feature of Em that I enjoyed reading about. Em definitely knew that he couldn't fly. He had many questions in his mind. There was even a moment when he dropped the idea of ever witnessing an aerial view, but then he realised that at least he should give it a try. Who knows, he might be able to do something exceptional.

The language of this book is lucid. The story was heartwarming. Em's thoughts just made me smile throughout the book. If anyone is looking for a cute story with tons of motivation in it, then 'The Emperor' is the right book for you.

At times when you are earnestly searching for answers, help comes unexpectedly. The book The Emperor happened to me when fear and hesitation filled my heart, preventing me to take a leap of faith. Clutched by self-doubt, this book written by Ram Joshi gave that much-required push to break the shackles binding me. Insights through the story of a Penguin helped me in doing so. What was that insight? Read on to find out.


I have scant knowledge about Penguins except that they are Chionophiles birds who cannot fly. The author describes these tough but cute creatures animatedly. I was so fascinated about Penguins after reading the book that I watched all the videos available on youtube.


The Emperor reminds me of another famous book Johnathan Living Seagull by Richard Bard. It's written on the same line. But I felt The Emperor was more connecting, emotionally. I didn't find it preaching but telling the story of a Penguin Em with a dream to explore and learn.


Em faced many stumbling blocks. Self-doubt, discouraging tribe, adverse climatic condition, enemies to deal with, unknown, and uncertainty all around. You, me, and almost anyone who tries to trot on a lesser walked path face these and many other problems. It was interesting and intriguing to read how Em overcomes problems.


My takeaway from this self-motivating book is asking yourself the right questions during testing time sets you in the right attitude to deal with problems. Right questions embark you in search of answers, which ultimately pays way to solutions.


It is a must-read book, not a heavy read with unnecessary build-ups giving you drooping eyes. Ram Joshi's writing is simple and lucid. The book is entertaining and actionable.

The premise of the book, which travels and traverses the region of Antarctica? or for the fact that this book got the Penguin as a protagonist? Neither. This book weaves a delicate story that transports you to the snow lands to relinquish in life that Em lives and yearns for. Reading this book was like seeing bursts of sunshine through clear clouds. Both fun and introspective! This book not only motivates you but makes you believe that life is as fine as snow and hard as the rock in the mountain but exhilarates when you see Em overcome such hurdles surviving the storm to accomplish his dream which is unknown for him at the starting point. How asking the right questions at tough times oust the best. And this spans the lives of human experiences and hopes in the perception of the Penguin. Read this book to know why and how this book differs from the rest of the Non-fictions you have ever read so far. With the usual fact and motivational storyline, the author scores a good point for the countless attempts Em takes to achieve the impossible and the courage that makes him kept going - regardless of how he unravels the reality, leaving behind his tribe to bounce backing to inspire the group. The author's prose, theme, and writing style compliment the authenticity state of exploring the moral given the geographical aspects and depicting changes of the protagonist from within, which made it philosophically blending and resonate well with the reader’s perspective. Overall, this book got a unique way of expressing the impossible dreams come with incredible risk.

The Emperor is a story about a penguin who had only one dream - to reach the peak of the mountain and cross over it.

In the beginning, he was discouraged by the elders of his tribe but seeing his determination they let him go.
The penguins name was Em. But his mother called him Emperor.

Em set out to climb the mountain.
He had a long way to go to reach the base of the mountain.
In spite of all the obstacles he faced, the harsh winter and the vultures he trudged on.
When he started climbing the mountains he set milestones for himself and competed each milestone at a time.
While he climbed the mountain he spent a lot of time thinking and retrospecting his life and his journey.

He faced many major setbacks during his mission. But he did not lose hope and continued to climb.

Eventually he was successful and reached the summit of the mountain.

At each step Em learnt something new.
He learnt from his mistakes and found ways to prevent them.

The author has beautifully portrayed Em's journey to the summit while simultaneously but subtly mentioning its similarity to human life .

The importance of determination, hard work and hope have been explained very well.

The cover of the book is simply adorable.

The narration is wonderful as each visual scene has been explained in adequate detail.

The author has wonderfully written a Self Help book in the form of a story about a cute penguin.

The book follows the life of Emperor on his journey to achieving his dream. How he conquers his self-doubt and the fear of being away from his people, that is keeping him back from working towards his dream.


The book is fast-paced yet it covers all the elements, every difficulty (both mental and physical) faced by a person in his/her journey to success.
Making it easier and enjoyable to read the chapters are very short (which is one of the many reasons I loved this book).
As it's short, each chapter is to the point but that doesn't reduce its worth. There is so much meaning in those short lines that I may not have realized some of them.

Talking about the protagonist, whose journey we follow, is very connecting. There were so many things which I could relate to like the self-doubt we all face during that time, the fear of failure and the unknown danger we might face, the anxiety of leaving the life of comfort and fun and starting the journey. And many more.

It's also great in the way that the author has covered many critical aspects (that I mostly don't find in self-help books).

One of them being, in today's world where everything is present at our disposal we hardly decide to achieve something. We become used to these comforts and never think about our dreams maybe because we think it's impossible or we doubt our abilities.

At the end I will say only one thing if this lockdown had made you lazy and want to come out from that comfort zone then grab this novel and read it once,

The book "The Emperor" by Author Ram Joshi is a motivational attempt which is a story of a Penguin, which is written to motivate us - hoomans indirectly.

The Emperor is the story of a Penguin - Em in Antarctica who has big dreams & Goals who is ambitious just like anyone of us but doesn’t have the courage to pursue them.

The story revolves around the Penguin - Em (short form of emperor) who is the youngest of his tribe. The story is set in Antarctica, bringing out its beauty into words.

He lost his parents at a very young age. He grew up with a lot of dreams facing struggles and hardships in his journey of life.
He being ambitious wants to go to the top of the mountain, explore places and to find what's beyond them. Being an animal is not easy, hiding and safeguarding themselves from the predators & hunters is harder. Em wants to do everything he wishes, but his tribe doesn't agree for what he desires and says that it is impossible.

If he wants to fulfill his dreams, he have to overcome a lot of struggles.
Did he succeed? Will he reach the mountain top? What are the problems he faced? Will Destiny let him suffer or succeed? Read the book & find out the answers!!

The book is set in a positive way and it is highly motivating.
The narration is smooth and funny at times, which makes you smile and feel stress free. I love animals and I loved this book very much as it is in an animals point of view.

Each day of Em’s life proves out to be a battle to protect himself either from voracious predators or harsh weather conditions. Due to these two reasons many of his fellow ones pass away yearly but young Em dreams to explore the unknown.

Unknown being to reach the top of the mountain. He wants to quench his inquisitive thirst to find out what’s beyond the mountain. The elder penguins of his tribe think and made sure he knows he wouldn’t survive without his tribe. He still wants to explore the unknown to satisfy his soul.

Should he put his dream in the backseat and keep moving on?
At the end of the day, a penguin is a bird who can’t fly.

Will he gather the courage to explore the unknown?
Or
Will he sacrifice his life while trying?

Beginning from the title of the book. In my opinion, it is apt as The Emperor Penguin is a specific type of a penguin species who is the largest of all penguins found in Antarctica. Furthermore, the author, Ram Joshi has chosen to write in an extremely simple language possible to cater to the youthful audience as well. This motivational story is and will be inspirational for children and adults too. All things considered, this book is a metaphorically alluring one filled with sentences that imparts something if you read between the lines.

People have learnt to stay in their Comfort Zone whether they have dreams or not. Eventually We thought that That's not my cup of Tea either because of Society or because of lack of confidence.

But we know the story of Nepolian Bonaparte.

Here is another Nepolian Bonaparte as a penguin. Em who lost his parents when he was young and moving around different places with others to save themselves as the seasons changes. When they were traveling different places he wonders about the life beyond a mountain. He wants to go to that side of the mountain. After lot of ragging with his friends and troop he stopped the idea of going to that place. But his curiosity never leave him alone.
He always thought of to go that place and discover it. Despite of everyone's denial He started his journey to kill his curiosity.

Is he able to cross the mountains?
Or He is just like another person when see s the struggle stayed back?
He has dreams to achieve but is it that easy to achieve it?

Though the Author has mentioned the story as a point of view of Penguins but he has taught the way of living to us the human.
As Humans we also stayed back because of societal pressure or any other reason but it's the time to rise and achieve our dreams. That's the main gist of the whole book. A really inspiring and different read.

He wants to fly, climb mountains and do various things which being a penguin is impossible to achieve. When his friends and elders came to know about it, they also mock him about his plan and tried to reason him that it is an impossible task. But will he forget about his dream?

The cover page of the book is simple and resonates with the story. The title of the book is a little bit different. When I started reading the book, I was very confused because the title and the cover page have no relation between them. But after reading the book, I slowly started resonating with it.

I love reading the book, it is mainly based on how important and difficult is to walk on a path which is never used by anyone. Just because it is never chosen by anyone, doesn't mean it is impossible. The portrayal of Em is done very well, and every single person can feel related to the feelings of him.

The language of the book is simple and great for beginners. The narration of the book is also lucid and everything is depicted very beautifully. This book felt like a self-help, that make you understand something different and helpful. The research and facts written in the book are very true. I appreciate the efforts of the author for writing a book in a penguin's aspect. Overall, it is a nice read for me and I'll definitely recommend it to all the beginners.

A fascinating novella, The Emperor: Live The Dream, is an allegorical tale. It narrates the journey of the penguin-Em.

In the frozen continent of Antarctica, lived a baby penguin, Em. He had big dreams. s he grew up, he was sceptical, he procrastinated. The other members of his tribe thought that his dream was impossible to achieve. But one day, Em did set off on a journey to pursue his dream. He faced tremendous difficulties and a number of tumultuous circumstances on his way.

Could Em succeed in his journey? Read the book to know about Em's exceptional adventure...

Em's journey can be interpreted as the journey of life. An adventure with a goal to achieve in the end. A journey which is filled with challenges and difficulties. The final goal can be achieved only if one keeps going, braving every difficulty one faces on the way. And Em the penguin did just that. He kept going no matter what.

The Emperor: Live The Dream is a motivational tale. Em's journey is very inspiring. The author has beautifully described the setting of the story - the world's coldest continent: Antarctica.

It is a very short, inspiring, and interesting read. It took me a few hours to complete reading the entire book.

The author has done a great job narrating the life of a human through the eyes of a penguin which almost everyone can relate to. He asks the readers to live your dream no matter what the circumstances are. Just like Em leave your self doubts and have courage to fulfill your dream even if it seems impossible. The writing style of the author is smooth which makes it an engaging read. It is an inspirational book in which a message is hidden in a form of story. I recommend it to everyone.

While searching for novels I came across this beautiful and inspiring book. Title and the cover did not match each other so I developed a curiosity to find out what relation they have and why is the cover used with such title. This curiosity made me read this book and I am so happy that it's worth reading. The best part is that the author used a penguin as the protagonist of the story and draws a similarity between the story of a human and the penguin.
Story revolves around the penguin Em, of Antarctica who dreams of reaching the heights of mountains and going beyond it and how he is considered as the emperor when he achieves it. The story shows the different obstacles faced by the penguin and how he controls all his hurdles in order to achieve his aim.
In this way the author tries to convey the message to the readers that we may face many difficulties and obstacles in our lives but that does not stops us from achieving our dream and once we achieve our dream we will be praised, even by those who resists us from achieving it.
The language used so simple and easy to understand for the readers which helps in connecting the book to the readers efficiently. This is really an inspiring book which teaches us great life lessons.
I highly recommend it.
