Heartbeats and Roses is the second novel in the Hartwood Falls series. These do not need to be read in any particular order; however I did enjoy the cameo from characters in book one. CADE FOREVER!

Her One Weakness.

Let me tell you, Charlie Rose has many. It was enjoyable to see her art and work ethic. The perfection and details that were put into this novel surrounding her business was inspiring. Learning about the meaning of the flowers was very interesting.

Definitely a cute read. I love this town. It just feels like home. I can't wait for the next installment and to see how love will bloom.

I will say I did enjoy the first book way more. But this novel was also entertaining and seeing the childhood love, heartbreak and trauma grow was very redeeming. And I also felt like a super nerd reading all of the 'Doctor Lingo' for Liam's job. I watch a love of Grey's anatomy and other shows and I knew exactly the conditions the writer was talking about.

This is definitely a topsy turny complicated Valentine's Day read with an incredibly happy and sweet ending.

For me, Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine's Day Romance is a little bit better than Moonlight and Belladonna.
Even though I would like to see some of the characters from Moonlight and Belladonna again, (the truth you have a glimpse of grandfather Owens, and Rose talks about Cade and Bella.
Rose, our florist who believes in true love, and then you have Liam, our surgeon who thinks true love doesn't exist, especially after what his dad did to his mum many, many years before. In this book, you have feelings like anger and resentment, betrayal, secrets, and mistrust, but friendship, family, and reconnection gave me that happy feeling!
I like how Rose incorporates the Victorian & Edwardian language of flowers. Mainly when she organizes a very complicated secret Valentine on Valentine's Day.
This story is an extraordinary tale of friendship, betrayal, and trust, and that you feel strong emotions with both of these characters. Liam's character shows that he needs to soul search but needs the familiarity of his best friend to help him along the way.
Overall this was a great story. The author pulls you in with her writing, and you won’t want to put it down. Both characters were great. My emotions were all over the place. You can read this as a stand-alone.

This is a fab second chance romance that will have you laughing but also shedding more then a few tears! In this we have Rose our florist who believes in true love and all the shebang that goes with it and then you have Liam our surgeon who thinks true love doesn’t exist especially after what his dad does to his mum many many years before. There’s anger and resentment, betrayal, secrets and mistrust but there’s also friendship, family and reconnection that gave me that happy feeling!

This book… it was fine..

I found the narrator to be pretty decent but when she switched to the male perspective it would make me chuckle.

I also found the heroine to not only be exhausting but flighty.. her head was in the clouds.
The hero was kind of a tool, but I did enjoy the valentines aspect and the family (when they were there).

First of all I love Rose's family and their interactions. Also love the quirks of Rose and her flower business. The tidbits about the language of flowers were interesting. Story was steady paced. Liam was a perfect match for Rose. Perfect read for Valentine's Day coming up.

This is a second chance romance based in a small town which rivals Hallmark as a haven for the holidays and Valentines is no exception. Rose McDaniels is a florist with a wild and romantic imagination who organises a secret valentine event every year where she takes orders for special valentines and creates a special message with flowers for the recipient to find at a Candlelight Ball on Valentines night and who owns a cat called Sophie. Liam Bradley is a cardiac surgeon having a string of bad luck, he is being investigated over the death of a patient, his relationship is just going through the motions and his girlfriend is not happy that he isn’t going on holiday with her and instead for some unknown reason, has decided to take up the offer of an old school friend to stay in his AirBNB for a couple of weeks in the hometown which he left twenty years ago without looking back.

Rose is in her shop preparing for an upcoming wedding she has in a couple of days when her landlord comes in to ask her to give a key to the person who is coming to stay in the AirBNB that afternoon, Rose agrees amid her deliveries coming in. Unbeknownst to either Liam or Rose, they are about to meet again when it turns out that he is the one who she has to hand the key over to and she is still affected by him the same way she was at sixteen, but she is torn as he doesn’t seem to be the same person, he is all lines and edges now and cold at the same time.

As Liam settles into the apartment, he agrees to see his friend at eight and then heads out to walk his dog Hunter before the snow really started to fall, he was also reminiscing about the town and how much had and hadn’t changed since he had been here last, then his thoughts turned to Rose and how she hadn’t changed much either and how he regretted how he had left things the last time he had seen her and as he and his friend talk about old times and his family drama over a beer, the subject of Rose comes up again, as does the fact she is still single. The next morning, Rose is busy and has another delivery of some more flowers, but as she is sorting it all out, that is until Liam is woken up and challenges Rose about the time and why she organises them this early and it is at that moment that Hunter decides to get out of the apartment, into the shop and chase Sophie around while destroying the floral arrangements and breaking the glassware inside. As Liam takes Hunter back upstairs and Rose is panicking about the damage and how she doesn’t have time to think, never mind clean up the mess, but when Liam comes back down to help she demands that he leaves and as she is about to go towards him, she slips on the leaf slime covering the floor and land on her wrists and hits her head, there is an audible crack, followed by immense pain and Liam insists on locking up and taking her to the hospital. Unfortunately, it is the same hospital where his dad works and they bump into each other there, the reception is as cold as the weather outside, but as he takes Rose inside to fix her arm, Liam calls her family in to help.

This is a complete disaster for Rose, what with the wedding and Valentines coming up in less that two weeks and with her two assistants unable to help out, she call on them all to help her, Liam included and this is where they start to reconnect, but will they both come to the realisation of what they have, or will Rose be left heartbroken again? Can she muster up the courage to go through with the Valentines events knowing that romance is dead and that she can’t do the things she loves most with her broken wrist? The only way to find out is to read along and find out in the romance filled to the brim with hearts, flowers and love.

Rose is standing there looking into the face of her past, not only her past but he ripped out her heart 20 years ago and she still has not quite put it back together. What will she do?

Rose is the owner of the local flower shop; she loves the job she does to injection happiness in the flowers she provides. A total romantic but life has been cruel to her after the love of her life left 20 years ago without even a backward glance. Once a year she becomes cupid with her Valentine Admirer event but she did not expect a shock this year.

When Liam needs to get away for a bit and get his head together after a surgery goes wrong, instead of going to see his girlfriend he decides to go back to his hometown. After being run out of town 20 years ago will he be able to confront the anger he felt all those years ago. So he booked an Airbnb and arrived at the flower shop. He did not believe he would be looking face to face with his past.

This story is a great tale of friendship, betrayal and trust and that you feel strong emotions with both of these characters. Liam's character shows that he needs to soul search but needs the familiarity of his best friend to help him along the way. I loved the relationship between these two characters as the frosty beginning to then you are routing for them to rekindle the chemistry they had when they were younger. This story is well written and is a great paced book which once you have started can not put down. Although this book is part of a series, I feel you can read this as a stand-alone book. This is the second book I have read by this author and would love to read more.

Rose has built her business on love. She owns a flower shop where she is called upon to provide flowers showing love for all types of occasions...weddings, funerals, etc.. However, she has also started a Valentine's secret admirer event. As she is working towards getting ready for this year's event...the boy that broke her heart 20 years ago is now the man standing in her flower shop.
Twenty years ago, Liam was forced to up and leave his hometown behind. He is still not over the events of that night and harbors a lot of resentment and anger. After a surgery gone wrong, Liam needs to take a vacation and get away for a bit. Instead of joining his girlfriend and her family on a ski trip, he decides to head back to his hometown and clear his head. Imagine his surprise when the Air BnB that he is staying at is right above his former best friend's flower shop.
While Liam and Rose find the friendship that Liam left behind, there are secrets in their lives that, once out, could ruin what they are building. There are ups and downs...there is betrayal and forgiveness...and there is hope and love.
This book is written in a way that an older romantic language is woven throughout the pages. It added to the overall feel of the book...and I enjoyed it. Rose and Liam were wonderful characters and my heart was breaking and mending right along with them. A heartfelt love story which takes place at what is considered to be the most romantic time of the year.

This is sweet, and whimsical, more hallmark-like than MOONLIGHT and SNOWFLAKES. Second chance romance/Childhood best friends.
Liam is a doctor so he thinks in medical jargon a bit in the beginning, but you see how that plays a part later in the book.
Rose is such a hopeless romantic. A girl after my own heart ❤ She tends to get lost in her romantic, dramatic day dreams.😆
In the beginning it mentions they're cousins and that made me 🧐 but they're Not BLOOD family, so don't let that throw you. 😅
This one took me a little bit to get into for whatever reason, but it's very enjoyable!
.
📚 Some Quotes
Mae laughed. “Sometimes I can’t tell if you’re being ironically dramatic or if you’re actually just that dramatic.”
.
Rose’s smile became sunbeam in winter. And I was struck dumb once again by her beauty. Had I known she was this beautiful, back then? Yes, I thought I did. It was one of many reasons I was over the moon for her. But now . . . that smile . . . I felt long-frozen pieces of myself thawing in the warmth of her presence.
.
A groan escaped me. Did I inadvertently draw the ire of an ill-tempered fae lord? Surely one woman couldn’t have this much bad luck.
.
My sister grabbed my hand and gently tugged. “Let’s get you a cup of tea.”
“No amount of tea will fix this.”
“It’s tea. Not a magic potion."
.
“You, Liam Bradley,” I whispered, “are my one weakness.”

This story crushed me. I really wanted it to continue the vibe from the last book and it did to an extent. But then the wording got in the way. I struggled many times with the words or phrases the author used. They either didn’t fit the situation or they were waaay to advanced for me and I had to look them up. I get what she is trying to do but it made it hard for me (the reader) to keep following along with the flow of the story. Which made it hard for me to connect to the characters.

I like the idea of the story but just didn’t flow for me. The characters are cute but I only *felt* their friendship not love. Rose is delightful at times. That whole “pain meter” thing she did is pure imagination. It put a smile on my face. I loved the idea of the secret Valentines too. Again I felt something here but wanted to know more about how the it worked and the people connection. I did feel Rose spent a bit too much time in her head..going off on dreams and thinking about the past, future etc. some of that is okay but she had way too much.

The Epilogue just threw me for a loop. I was wishing it would have said “One Year Later” before I started reading.

Overall this is an okay read. I liked some things but the dislikes I had outweighed them.

Second one in a new series by Jae Dawson. These stories can easily be read as stand-alones though which is great!
Just like the first one; I didn’t want to put this down once I started.
I really enjoyed Rose and her little flower shoppe. I loved that she had a cat that was super sweet until Hunter the dog came along. That was a heart wrenching scene and I felt so bad for Rose but thankfully Liam was there. Also Rose was still a romantic and believed in love even after 20 years of waiting.
Then Liam comes back after that long and realizes that he missed Rose and the friendship they used to have. I loved how easily these two fell back into friendship and finally realized how much they loved each other.
The flowers and learning what they all meant was a really nice bonus. Liam was awesome when it came to learning about them and helping Rose out even when he didn’t see the world the same way and was a little cynical in the beginning.
This story had its funny moments and it’s super romantic moments but also had tearful moments that made me cry. I would highly recommend this series and having tissues close by when reading.

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine’s Day Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance), is a lovely romance story by Jae Dawson. This story is a fantastic story set around the romance day of the year. The author sets the scene for a brilliant and believable love story. I really had high hopes when I read the blurb. I really love a good dr romance. The character’s were life-like and seriously entertaining. I was kept enthralled from beginning to end and loved every minute of it.

With romance in her heart and love in her eyes, Rose finds love. For everyone else, that is. She has not had much luck in that department herself, and wants to change that. Liam is a jaded doctor that has no time for such nonsense, but circumstances throw them together and set a reader up for a bumpy but thrilling ride.

Misunderstandings, meetings and secret messages all unfold for the dubious Liam and big hearted Rose, and with a second chance at love, their rediscovery of one another was beautiful and heart warming. This story hit the romance loving spot and was a great way to spend a lazy weekend. 4 stars.

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine's Day Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson was a great 5 star read.

If you like second chance romance you will get pulled into this story. Rose owns her own floral shop and she loves it. It has helped her move forward from her own heartbreak. Her favorite time of year is Valentine's day when she has a special event.

Liam has returned home after an issue at work. He was forced to leave town years ago and he still has some feelings that need to be resolved from that night. The place he has rented for his stay is above a floral shop and brings him face-to-face with his past. He quickly realized how much he missed Rose and they started to get close again.

Will these two rekindle what they had in the past? Or will Liam’s current relationship get in the way?

Overall this was a great story. The author pulls you in with her writing and you won’t want to put it down. Both characters were great. My emotions were all over the place. You can read this as a stand alone. If you're looking for a great romance read, 1-click and get started today. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This is romance at its best however at the beginning I think the title should have read Heartbreaks and Thorns with the reception Rose receives from her childhood best friend and love of her life The Dr.Liam Philip Bradley... Rose is always attributing every movement or situation and turning it into one of her heart stopping romance fantasies in her mind against the cold, stern and emotionless Liam. Can Rose eventually due to many ill timed consequences from situations out of their control learn Liam to live and feel again ? And if she does will the the one thing Rose has being dying to tell him about his own family completely destroy them once again when Liam learns the truth or will the Sword of Damocles hanging over his head or his long term girlfriend be the end to them once again....Jae Dawson certainly excels at romance and emotions as I felt every single one pierce my heart as I was transported into her world. All I will say is make sure you have a box of tissues ready for any heart stopping romance that Jae Dawson writes

Heartbeats and Roses (Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson

4 Stars

This was a super sweet story that falls at the perfect time of year. I previously read Moonlight and Belladonna which was set in Hartwood Hollow just as this one was. You can easily read each of these as standalones and each seems to follow the holiday theme.

I had a little trouble with this one as far as connecting with the two main characters. The actual storyline and the events during the story kinda took over for me. The family aspect as well was probably my favorite part of the whole story..Rose and Liam were awesome, and I loved each on their own, I just didn't connect with the love story between the two, and I can't explain why, I was more interested in Rose’s flower shop and her Valentines antics and her family, I couldn't get enough of all of that. I love this small town and really will be looking forward to the next holiday in this series.

This is my 2nd book by this author, and I love many things about her writing and will absolutely be back for more.

Heartbeats and Roses is part of Jae Dawson's A Heartwood Holiday Romance series. The books can be read independently, and can be enjoyed as such. This book is a cute happily ever after clean romance. The descriptive writing is a little over the top at times, but it works. It describes the characters and their personalities. Rose is a florist and is a hopeless romantic. She describes feelings based on flowers that represent them, quotes classic literature, and dreams of knights in shining armor and swooning. Her clothes are described as doilies and lace, often pink, and she is all about romance and flowers. Liam is a doctor and describes feelings based on the chemicals and biological cause of them. Despite the two being completely different, they were best friends their whole lives. Liam quickly left town in high school, and cut all contact with Rose. Fate seems to bring them back together, and a series of freak accidents force their time together. While the book was a bit cheesy, I loved it! Can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine's Day Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson

Another great read by Dawson. Hartwood really sounds like a magical place. I highly recommend this for romance lovers.

Rose is a flower shop owner in Hartwood. She is missing a certain someone. When her landlord tells her that he has a guest coming. The said guest arrives and it throws Rose off her game. The quote I chose for Rose is: “I survived losing you once, and I think I can do it again. But if you were ever my friend, if you ever cared for me, you will do this for me now. Make peace with Mae. Apologize to her. Find a way in your cold dead Grinch heart to let her in. And then leave me the hell alone.”

Liam is coming back home after losing a patient. He needs the vacation and seeing old friends. The one person he was hoping to avoid is the first person he sees. The quote I chose for Liam is: “Oh? That’s all you have to say? Oh?”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentines Day Romance by Jae Dawson is a novel in the Hartwood Holiday Romance series. This book is a sweet and enjoyable story with some really great ideas. The whole premise of the book was fun and lighthearted - I liked everything Rose was trying to do and there were some great ideas there. I had such high expectations from this book after reading the first and unfortunately I didn’t find it to be quite as good. I found these characters a little harder to connect with. However the overall book was definitely enjoyable and worth reading as part of the series. I love the absolutely stunning covers this author seems to have on each of their books - they alone would draw me into the book as they are so striking. The author has a strong writing style and the book had a good pace to it. Although this was not quite what I had hoped for I am still very much looking forward to the next book in the series!

Heartbeats and Roses is a cute contemporary story that is just what the doctor ordered. With everything that is going on in the world right now (covid 19), I know personally, I need some good times with a special someone. The plotline is engaging and the characters are really interesting. Not only is this a contemporary romance, but it has second chances. This is a small town and everything that goes with that distinguishment of being a small town. I was hooked into Rose. I enjoyed her love of life and how she is creating the life she wants in this small town. Rose is the town matchmaker. She loves helping others find their match but can she find her own love? Liam is a surgeon who comes back to this little town. Will Liam want to return to the life he had 20 years ago in this small town? How is Rose dealing with Liam back in town? Does she have feelings for Liam all of this time? I highly recommend this book to find out the answers to these questions and more.

Heartbeats and Roses

Heartbeats and Roses was a nice, romantic read and I found it very enjoyable to read. This isn’t the first book that I have read by this author and although sadly I didn’t enjoy it as much as the others it was still a good read. I think for me I struggled with connecting with the characters and I’m not sure why to be honest. They were nice enough and I liked them but I just didn’t feel that connection with them like I have previously. Rose and Liam obviously had a past and that connection between them was still there all those years later however I was missing a little bit of passion between them, thy did seem to have a genuine connection thought which was lovely to read about. I liked how Liam’s character developed over the story and I feel like I got to him more than I did Rose.
Overall a good read and I am definitely looking forward to more from this author again in the future.

This is a beautifully written  story that fills you with a sense of romance from start to finish. Set in a sleepy little town it brings the quaint life alive and the setting is perfect for a second chance romance story.

Rose is a romantic. A complete helpless romantic. As owner of the local florist she is tasked to make special flowers arrangements for any occasion always with a theme of love in there. However, as much as she finds and creates love for other people she has been unable to find love for herself. The only person she ever felt that for was Liam.

Liam is now doctor. He left his home town and Rose behind years ago but he finds his way back. Trying to escape from the stresses of his job the last thing he expected to find was Rose.

Will they be able to rekindle their past love? Will Liam current situation stop anything blooming before it starts? Can a love that started years before survive?

This was an enjoyable “Small Town Valentine's Day Romance” standalone novel by Jae Dawson. The author took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading this story of Rose and Liam and their second chance at love journey. Set in Hartwood Falls, florist Rose is also an unofficial matchmaker and she has bought many couples together at her annual ‘Secret Valentines’. However Rose still thinks about her childhood sweetheart Liam who left town and left her. When cardiac surgeon Liam Bradley returns to Hartwood Falls when his career is at risk and his relationship in trouble he didn’t expect to find love especially not with the girl who he left a secret message for and never heard from again. This is a heartwarming story in which Rose and Liam have to confront their past and take a chance at love, and I was cheering them on hoping they would get their happy ever after.

Heartbeats and Roses (Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson. This is a great second chance love story. Its the story of Rose who owns a flower shop and is the towns cupid. The only problem is she can fix everyone else up but not herself. Rose was in love 20 years ago with Liam and he broke her heart and left town. After some medical problems Liam leaves his current girlfriend and heads to his hometown to recover. Little does he know but the Air BnB he is staying at is above his former best friends flower shop. Once he's there he and Rose rekindle their old friendship but can secrets and lies of the past crush that rekindled friendship? The attraction is immediate between Rose and Liam and they have a hard time staying away from each other but is that enough to get over past betrayals? Read Heartbeats & Roses to find out.

Heartbeats and Roses by Jae Dawson is a Hartwood Holiday Romance. This was such a good book packed with everything! Second chances, forgiveness, small town - it has a little bit of everything.

Rose is such a text book romantic and truly enjoys matchmaking. As much as she’d like to find love for herself, no one has measured up to her first love. Maybe that will soon change. Liam has had a rough go of it lately and returns to his hometown to take a step back and get his bearings. He doesn’t expect to come face to face with the girl he left behind. Will fate intervene?

This was a sweet read. I enjoyed the story and the characters. I found myself really hoping things would work out for Rose after all the match making she’s done for everyone else. I had to find out how it would end! I recommend giving this book a chance!

I fell in love with Hartwood in Moonlight and Belladonna, so when I saw there was a Valentine's Day themed one I knew I needed to read this story soon! I love how Jae Dawson has created this sleepy and perfectly sweet small town that I feel like would be perfect for me to live in. It just takes you away with her descriptions and each of the stories that take place there. This one brings us the story of Rose and Liam. Rose is the perfect hopeless romantic and uses that to her advantage with her matchmaking skills. Liam has come home because life threw obstacles his way in his career as a surgeon. These two will make you fall in love as they do and love every moment of it. This is one you don’t want to miss and I can’t wait to see what other books we get in Hartwood.

This is a sweet romance that fits in with Valentine's Day. I enjoyed being pulled into this small town, second chance romance. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her hands down. This is a fast paced story about romance, secrets and forgiveness. Rose has her own flower shop. She questions why she has not found love for herself but really there has only been one love for her. Liam’s lie is falling apart so he returns to his hometown. What will happen when he comes face to face with Rose? The one thing that either one never expects is love. What will fate have in mind for them? I enjoyed their characters and what they brought to the story. They really made it fun to read. I highly recommend this romance story.

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine's Day Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance)
By Jae Dawson

This book was sweet and romantic. I liked Rose and her quirky romantic ways. She owns a flower shop and let's love speak with her flowers. Rose's family is fun, supportive and quirky just like her and I loved reading about them. Liam decides to take a much needed vacation and heads back to his hometown. He had no idea how hard it was going to be when all the feelings came back from 20 years ago. Rose and Liam grew up together and were hoping to become more than friends when he was forced to move away and he never looked back. This book is full of forgiveness, romance, second chances, and cute moments. This was a good read.

The second novel in this series by Jae Dawson and I am still absolutely in love with the small-town feel and the love stories that occur there! I loved the raw emotion that was in this story and getting to know way more than I ever dreamed imaginable about flowers due to Rose and her business. The
Quirky family members and friends, the re-meeting of long-lost love, and the reminder that all of this is happening in the same town where we fell in love with Cade. Rose and Liam had a story that needed to be told and Jae has once again delivered with this beautiful and romantic story. I especially
related to the overthinking and overanalyzing that goes on in Rose’s head. These stories are perfect to read during any season when you want to smile and have that happily ever after feeling.

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine's Day Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson is a contemporary romance. I went in with hope but once again I was unable to fully connect with the characters and with the romance, I didn’t feel the passion I felt more friendship than that burn of passion. The old-fashioned wording used for the romance was off putting. I like the premise is full of promise, but the story just didn’t flow for me.

I liked the idea of the secret Valentines and what Rose wanted to do for the town. I also liked that she is confident and is happy where she is at in her.

I am still open to see what the next book will be like. I am not giving up yet!
