Finding Sanctuary

This is funny, serious, steamy, and scary, which I really enjoyed. Krew Beckett gets more than he bargained for when he befriends Carson Matthews. 😂 A whole lot more!

Carson occasionally drove me crazy, but so did her father, Easton. Her calling him out on his double standards was perfect, though. Her also chewing out Krew was kind of funny, too.

I'm glad that this came full circle, starting with the attack on Carson when she was at college to eventually remembering some of the events and sleuthing out the culprit, to seeing justice handed down. Those parts of the book are also hard as it deals with human trafficking and some consent issues.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator is Alexander Cendese. With this being a predominantly female POV book, Alexander is an unlikely choice. I love his male voices, but females are not his forte.

"Carson: The Untold Story," by Andrea Smith, is part of the "G-Man: Next Generation Series." Carson is the daughter of Darcy and Easton Matthews, and this is her story.

You hear a bit about Carson's ordeal in the previous book, "Walk of Shame." The book picks up afterward. Carson is a rebellious daughter who loves her parents and brother very much. She had a long recovery after "Walk of Shame," and her recovery continues in the capable hands of her physical therapist, Krew.

Carson investigates the events that put her in the hospital and into physical therapy. Krew, her physical therapist, helps her with the investigative process. Carson and Krew come to startling conclusions and work with law enforcement to bring the guilty to justice. They develop a relationship through this ordeal. Carson knows Krew helped her through this but is suspicious of his secretive nature. It doesn't take Carson long to put it all together.

"Carons" is not just a romance book. You will find it a mystery, as much as a romance. I always love a book combining genres and seeing the criminals get their just deserts. If you have read all the rest of the books, this is also a must-read book. If you haven't read the others then you can still read this, and you will still love it, but you will want to read the others once you read this. I highly recommend this book.

Amazing narration from Alexander Cendese, who brings the plot, suspense, heat , steam and characters to your ears.

Carson is studying journalism and is doing some investigative work in a BDSM club for her class project. Carson never finished her investigation, she found herself injured. Waking up in hospital with no memory of what happened or what she working on either. Her father gets s physical therapist to help in her recuperation, Krew Beckett. Carson is not too happy with how hard he works her but she does get better and heads back to school. When back at school she runs into Krew again, who has opened his own practice. The two become friends, both want to get to the bottom of what happened to her. These two are amazing.
We have drama, angst, mystery, suspense, emotions and a steamy romance.

Carson: The Untold Story
G-Man Series, Book 8
By: Andrea Smith
Narrated by: Alexander Cendese

Andrea Smith never ceases to amaze me with her books. Each one is so different, an original story that captures my attention and keeps me enthralled until the end. This story is packed with so much, I don't even know where to start! Carson is in the hospital after her "accident". She has no memory of what happened, but gets glimpses in her dreams. She needs physical therapy, and Krew is her therapist. Initially she didn't like him, after all, he was pushing her limits to get better. But now, seeing him when she goes back to school, she has a whole new view. The two definitely have chemistry and their friendship grows. But as he helps Carson remember her past, and his feelings grow, there are secrets he is keeping. Will it all blow up? I wondered who to trust in this story. Relevant issues are addressed and brought to the forefront as Carson works on her class project. As the danger grows, I was wondering what was going to happen all the way until the end. A fabulous story, just the right amount of suspense and romance. Loved it!

Alexander Cendese shines in this book. He has so many voices, to create and with the main character a woman, he nails it. I thought all of the inflections he used brought out all the facets of each of the characters. He built up the suspense, and made this listen truly a joy to hear. I thought it was one of his best!

Great Story & Narration🎧 A Captivating Thrill!

Carson: The Untold Story
G-Man Series, Book 8
By: Andrea Smith
Narrated by: Alexander Cendese

Andrea Smith pens another fantastic story set in her G-Man series, I love this world she created as well as the amazing characters in it. Smith is a gifted author, I enjoy her writing style and her way with words, not many can bring humor into their stories to balance out the seriousness parts of the stories and not just to deflect from them and she does it with witty dialogue and perfect timing. Carson is Easton and Darcy Matthew’s college age daughter, she is studying journalism and is doing some investigative work for her class project. But she never finished that piece because she found herself injured and back home with her parents, she has no memory of what she was working on either. She is recuperating and her father finds her a great physical therapist, Krew Beckett, though Carson is not too happy with how hard he works her but she does get better and heads back to school. Then she runs into Krew again, who just opened his own practice, he invites her over and the two become friends and when she wants to get to the bottom of what happened to her he agrees to help her. I thought these two were great together and for each other, but he has other things going on and that may backfire and hurt him in the end. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, a touch of angst, some mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Andrea Smith, thank you for another amazing story and emotional roller coaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Alexander Cendese did a great job bringing these characters and their story to life. He had a complete understanding of the characters he portrays, gave each a voice that fits the character’s persona, sounding believable in every role he plays. He sets the perfect tone for the story, handles the witty dialogue with ease and switches character roles effortlessly never missing a beat. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captures all the character’s emotions and projects them into his performance and has you feeling every single one. Cendese is an entertaining storyteller and a versatile voice artist, thank you for another great listen.

I’ve always been a huge fan of the G-Man Series. Carson’s story is another edition I
couldn’t put down. Even if you haven’t read any of the books in this fantastic series, you could definitely read as a standalone. BUT!! I urge you to start at the beginning. You will want to read all about the G-Men. Each time I read the next book I fell in love that little bit more. You do hear from a few characters in Carson’s story from previous books, and it made me want to re read the whole series.

Carson is the daughter of Easton and Darcy Matthew’s. The dynamic duo from book three, Night Moves. Most parents are overprotective, but Daddy Matthew’s is extremely, almost borderline obsessive when it comes to his daughter’s safety. It’s no wonder Carson thinks someone is watching over her all the time. To be fair to Easton though she has been through an awful lot, and no one actually knows what happened to her, YET!

Carson is a strong willed young lady. Her near death experience does not stop her from living. Determined to recover and find out what happened to her, that ended her waking up in hospital is something she must know. It’s dangerous, and she could be hurt again.

Thank god for Krew Beckett, her physical therapist, and well let’s call him a friend for now. He is very supportive of Carson. Not only getting her fighting fit again, pushing her all the way. But he seems to genuinely care about her. He doesn’t want her taking any risks, making her promise she won’t do anything without him there. She agrees and if it wasn’t for Krew she wouldn’t be remembering the things that he’s helped bring to light.

Carson and Krew make a great team. Love is certainly blossoming. It’s a shame that something ruins it all, or does it?.

This is a wonderful romantic story with intense moments, and tons of laughter. No matter how brutal the storyline can be. Author Andrea Smith always finds a way to bring that humor to her storytelling.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

I've been through a horrific experience, one that left me clinging to life in the hospital. Everyone has questions. I don't have the answers to give them. You see, I have no clue as to the details leading up to my accident. But there are people out there that have the answers, and I'm determined to find them-before they find me. Enter Krew Beckett. But is Krew hiding secrets, or am I simply afraid to trust anyone.

This is book eight in the G-Man Series. They are all complete standalones but I highly recommend this series if you have not started it. I have loved all these books and characters so much. You are so going to love Carson and now we are getting her untold story and it sure does keep you guessing. Carson is recovering from the most awful attack and goes through some serious physical therapy with Krew but she really has no memory of it at all. Everyone has a lot of questions but she doesn't have the answers to give them as she just doesn't know. But someone does and she is determined to figure it all out. Now she is out of the hospital and returning to Columbia University when she is surprised to run into Krew. He is more than happy to help Carson since she is have these strange out of order flash backs but she can't help but to fell like he is hiding some serious secrets. This book will keep you guessing the entire time and reading your little heart out. This has always been one of my favorite series and I loved that we got more of Carson. It is a really incredible book that I loved reading. I can't wait to see what we get next from Andrea Smith.

Carson is a journalism student at Columbia University. taking a class which involves investigative research, She's heard about underground sex clubs that, as far as she knows, are not illegal. Everything is consensual and over 21. Her friend, Shelby, offers to take her as a guest and she assures her that she'll be safe. After a few more weeks of research, she remembers nothing at all. Carson is floating in Coma World. She finally awakens, after being severely beaten and left for dead. She can sense her parents and brother, and hears their words as they stand around her bed. As she slowly wakes, she dreams, snippets of dreams that are alarming. Her physical recovery is going much more quickly, mainly because of her therapist, Krew Beckett. Shelby is convinced that, although he may be easy on the eyes, he's the Master of Torture. She fights him tooth and nail, until she doesn't. They slowly form a bond and make a great couple. All of a sudden her memories start flooding back and she remembers everything. She asks Krew to go to the sex club with her to investigate, and that investigation yields a horrifying reality. This is one of those stories that you can read multiple times and still come away feeling something new. Andrea Smith is an author who always delivers!
The narration is wonderfully done by Alexander Cendese. His well-modulated voice with excellent pacing and emotion brings each of the characters to life!

Carson: The Untold Story is a phenomenal contemporary romance with a twist of suspense by Andrea Smith. Ms. Smith has once again produced a book that kept me glued to my ereader. This is a well-written book (even if it is in first person, alternating point of view, not my favorite) and populated with a stellar cast of characters. Carson wakes in the hospital with no idea that she lived through a nightmare. Krew is Carson's physical therapist in the hospital. When Krew shows up at her college Carson believes it's a strange twist of fate. Carson and Krew's story is packed with drama, humor, smoking hot sexy bits, a not overwhelming touch of angst and suspense. I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to my next book by Andrea Smith. Carson is book 8 of the G-Man Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Must Read especially if you have followed The G-Man Series but even if you haven't you can read this as a stand alone. For all of you who have followed the series I'm sure you will agree it was great to see this stellar cast of characters and now witness the story of their families. Andrea Smith kept me up all night! I couldn't put this book down until I finished. Although this is a romance I would also say there were plenty of twist and turns that kept me guessing all the way until the end! I love reading the POV from both Carson and Krew and how each person enhances the story. Both leads are very strong as well as supportive of each other. Nice to see a strong woman even when she is facing the unknowns in her life. You're going to love this book!

I previously read this in an anthology. Now the author has added a second half to the story. I enjoyed learning more about Carson and I loved reading some parts from Krew’s POV. Also seeing Easton and Darcy in the parental role and how they react to their kids. Ha ha not what I expected!

While I enjoyed Carson’s story Krew really made me wonder. We don’t really know much about him...very vague stuff. I did like the mix in with Taz and how he got his current job.

Overall this is a fuller story now and that made it more enjoyable. It flows nicely and the characters are ones we love to see again and meet a few new ones. I look forward to Harpers story now...color me intrigued.

I enjoyed this contemporary romance, it held my attention from beginning to end. The cast of characters is well-drawn and interesting. This book tells Carson and Krew's story they met when she woke up in hospital after surviving a nightmare, Krew is her physical therapist.

The storyline is well thought out and includes some suspense along with drama, and humour, palpable chemistry and lots of hot sexy scenes as well as some angst. I'm now eagerly looking forward to the next book

I read an ARC of this book and am voluntarily writing my review.

Absolutely loved this story. Kept me guessing which direction it was going a few times. Carson is recovering from a horrendous attack which she has no memory of when she had to suffer the physio from hell in Krew. Once she is released she goes back to uni but doesn’t feel like she has let go of the past and starts having disjointed flashbacks. Krew bumps into her and offers to help. Can she trust him. Great read

I love when an author can keep you guessing and give you the twists and suspense in the romance you crave. Carson has a strength I believe most women have but to see how she came through what happened and continue moving forward with the determination of who she is. Krew was the perfect match for her. I was hooked from start to finish and felt all the feels. A great standalone, if you haven't read the series.

Great book

Carson wakes up in the hospital with no memory of what happened. Very accurate description of the hospital visit and PT. When she gets back to school, she notices her laptop is gone and feels watched. Carson is very emotional and passionate, which shows throughout the book. Krew is her sexy former physical therapist. Sparks fly. There is also a sex club involved. Enjoyable read.

After Walk of Shame I was curious about what had happened to Carson (Weston’s sister). Well, now I know! It’s a great story, which I thoroughly enjoyed. But then again: with every new story I read or listen to I’m a bigger fan of Andrea’s work.

This review is based on the audiobook. Great narration by Alexander Cendese.

Andrea Smith took me on a journey with this one. Carson wanted to observe a sex club and ended up in a hospital, barely escaping with her life and no memory. Krew was her Pt after her attack and what an adventure it was from then on! Loved this exciting story!

Brilliantly done. Sheds some realistic light on the sex trafficking issues that exist in this country which for some reason, isn't given the priority it should. Some twists I didn't see coming.

Carson the untold story is the loose end from the book Walk of shame.
We met Carson in her brother Weston's book Walk Of Shame...We know something bad happened to Carson that left her fighting for her life.
This is the book that reveals that story and the aftermath.
Of course there is no story without a love interest and Carson's love interest is her physical therapist Krew..Who opens up a clinic near where she is going to school, coincidence Maybe?..
This is a book full of surprises and steam the assault Carson is subjected to reveals more than I thought it would have been..The investigation is more sinister than just Carson having a BDSM fetish like what her brother Weston thought.
Carson is determined to find out who assaulted her and she reveals a network of sex trafficking digging too deep could get her into trouble.
By her side is Krew trying to be the voice of reason being so close to one another all the time sparks start to ignite and feelings get involved.
They are explosive together...But Krew is hiding a secret that Could destroy their relationship.
I really enjoyed this audiobook which was superbly narrated by Alexander Cendese,he performs both male and female characters and does an excellent job.I really love listening to him.
This is the book I think that everyone who has read the next generation G-Men books have waited for as its one event that was never solved...It didn't disappoint and was full of romance, steam and the unravelling of a crime and a surprising betrayal.
It is such a great listen and another success for Andrea Smith.

Carson is not the brightest bulb in the set of lights, nor the most mature person either. Her hair trigger assumptions without waiting for explanations upset me. She knew Krew was trustworthy and had integrity, then she conveniently forgot all that in her hormonal haze. I didn't like her going through his phone- that's just ignorant and sketchy!! When she slapped Krew's face I almost quit reading, because it was out of line, and what if he slapped her back like she deserved??!! Fair is fair, but that is rarely if ever written in a romance story. No hitting; it's barbaric! Krew's strength of character and integrity was unwavering throughout the story because somebody had to be the adult in the relationship!!!!!!

I personally loved getting to know Carson. She is fighting to find her place in the world and dealing with the double standards dealt by her parents. I started Carson in an anthology and only got part of the story. Carson is stronger than she thinks she both mentally and physically. I loved when she finally took a stand. Krew is fun, and takes no nonsense, but he has a secret. I figured that out from the start. It was fun seeing Easton and Darcy in the parental role. I was glad to see Easton is still a jerk and how Darcy is the calming force with him. Andrea Smith gave me suspense, mystery and steam. Andrea Smith took a subject that is very today and made it her own. I read on Kindle Unlimited.

This is the third book in the G-Man Next Generation Series. I loved Carson and Krew's story! Carson, Easton and Darcy's daughter, is such a wonderful character, strong, and determined. Krew is enigmatic, handsome, and protective. They are perfect together. The storyline is beautifully written, filled with suspense, intrigue, secrets, and twists and turns. The mystery unfolds at a great pace. Easton, Darcy, Taz, Lindsey, Weston, Penny, and Harper are amazing supporting characters. I love the family bonds in this story. The supporting character are great. I enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it.

You have been warned! That said, I found it to be a great storyline! A lot of times, Adult books with sex, tend to leave out a good plot. Not this one. I enjoyed the Who done it, very much.
This is my first book by Andrea Smith!
I enjoyed it enough to want to read some of her other books, especially in this series. I feel invested in Carson's family now. I enjoy books that make you feel something for the family.

I'm so glad we got the rest of Carson's story. I loved the strength she showed and the tenacity to push through all she had been through to come out on the other side. Krew was awesome, he was sweet, sexy, and an all around good guy. The two of them made the perfect pair and the way they each held their own was great. I can't wait for more from this series.
