Memoirs of a village girl is a collection of true stories lived by the author as she was growing up on the lake village of Khwawa in Chilumba, Karonga district in Malawi. It narrates her journey from childhood through teen years until she enters university. The book is meant to share the hilarious moments of growing up in a typical rural village in Malawi. The author takes the readers on a roller-coaster of laughs and gags, turning every supposedly emotional story into a laughing out loud moment. Story telling has never been funnier!
I've really enjoyed reading this. It's a privilege to hear about the childhood of someone whose experience of growing up was different to my own. I love hearing the similarities and differences from other stories of growing up in Malawi, either as a boy or on the town.
