Overall, I enjoyed the book, but there were a few things that I either didn’t quite understand or simply didn’t like. Ultimately, those two things affected my impression of certain characters within the story.

For instance, Jim’s sister Annie was, in fact, someone I would classify as a user. She was perfectly happy to play the charade of being a “rumored love interest” to Ryan despite her saying she knew he and Jim had something going on? Then, she suggests the same thing with her friend and fel

I thought the premise was interesting, but I had trouble really reconciling the fact that they were supposed to be best friends while have zero communication or discussion about anything important. This was a second chance romance, but I didn’t understand how they didn’t continue their first time. We also jumped 10 years in the future with MCs that seemed so out of character from those at the beginning of the book. Overall, I liked Ryan, but Jim annoyed me for most of the book. I’m glad they got ...more
Sharing The Book Love
A solid 3 star read for me because honestly Jim annoyed me, he just didn't stand up for anything he wanted and at the start of the book i thought he was gonna be the strong character.

The book was enjoyable Christmas read but I just didn't completely connect with either main character.

I also couldn't quite grasp the timeframe the story was set over .

It never was the right place or the right time, until it was. Ryan protected a little girl, Annie. Her big brother showed up and defended Ryan from a bully. They remained friends Jim was noticing Ryan's body more after he turned 18. Ryan's Mom, got cancer and discharged from the military and moved to Iowa. Jim, offered to go, but Ryan reminded him, he had school and needed to keep an eye on Annie. Ryan's Mom died 2 years later. Ryan went through a growth spurt and grew taller than Jim, and gaine ...more

This novel is sweet and charming, with solid holiday charm. The protagonists, Jim and Ryan, have been friends since childhood, when Jim looked out for Ryan. They lose touch over the years, coming together briefly and then losing each other again. When they are reunited for the final time, Ryan is a soon-to-be movie star and Jim is his physical therapist. They love each other, but for every conceivable reason (plausible and implausible) never clearly communicate this, so there's wall-to-wall angs ...more

Ryan and Jim meet when Ryan is defending Jim's sister Annie from a bully. From there, they become best friends. They get separated after high school, but see each other again under stressful circumstances. It's clear that they both have feelings for each other but they are both unsure how the other feels so they separate again. When they meet again in California is is quite a mess. Lack of communication is indeed the biggest problem in their relationship. I was very annoyed with Jim's sister Ann ...more

Overall, this was a good Christmas book. I've read several of Riley's holiday books and this one did not hit the spot as well as all the others, however, I would still recommend it.

The early stages seemed a little slow building but the characters were wonderful together. Jim and Ryan have a history and after life got in the way, a second chance to have that happiness they both deserve. Romantic trysts are not always a good thing when tragedies occur in one's life.Leaves you to questio

A nice best friends to lovers romance. Ryan and Jim were friends since high school. Jim was Ryan's hero first and foremost then best of buds. One secretly crushes over the other. In reality both were crushing. They had a special romantic interlude during a tragic time in Ryan's life but unfortunately they drifted apart. They meet again some years later and try for a second chance to rekindle what they had when they were younger. A lot of misunderstandings and first times with this couple. The lo ...more

Ryan and Jim bond over Annie, Jim's sister and the friendship blossoms from there. They struggle to maintain their closeness when they have to part and drift away from each other. When they reunite, the sizzling and obvious chemistry is still ripe with need but there are obstacles to overcome. The lack of communication really bugged me as Jim was being so obstinate and I wanted to give him good shake and make Jim wise up before it was too late. Ryan longed for closeness and a family of his own a ...more

A second chance romance between Jim and Ryan. The book is short, sweet, some angst, and they get their happily ever after. Ryan and Jim were best friends and they lost touch with each other after high school. They are given a second chance, but there's miscommunication and misunderstanding and they never really got a chance to confess how they felt about each other until Jim left again. The chemistry and romance between these two is so sweet.

A sweet holiday themed story. The story was good, but it lacked something for me in the beginning. As the story progress it got better. This is a second chance for these two, will they get their happily ever after?

I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love a good second chance romance, holiday romance and small town romance stories. This one gives you all that and more! Amazing characters you fall in love with and the story flows smoothly from cover to cover. This is a perfect read for the upcoming holiday season.
