Told from 3 povs-Rhi, Con, and Erith’s-Of Fire and Flame explores Rhi and Con’s breakup and subsequent consequence of decisions made in haste, even when with good intent.

While answering a a couple of questions I had regarding events in Inferno and tying events in to the various books timeline, I’m now left with more questions, but in the best way possible! Like the last two novellas, the emotions poured of the page, and pulled me in. I would love to delve in to more detail but if you haven’t re

A prequel to the series. Told in three parts from the perspective of Rhi, Con and Erith during the time when Con and Rhi broke up.

After the beautiful story told inHeart of Gold, I was really disappointed with this book. It didn’t make me cry or make me feel anything the way Heart of Gold did and there were huge plot holes and inconsistencies with the timeline and overall plot of the series in part three (Erith’s part). I couldn’t enjoy the story because I couldn’t s

This was an interesting take on 3 different point of views, however, I don't feel like I really learned much more than I already knew from the series. I recommend it because anyone who likes Donna and likes the series, should still read it. Everyone seems to get different things from books, so don't rely on my review too much. ...more

Donna Grant has granted us the greatest of gifts as she continues to give us these short stories of the lives that our favorite couple led in the millennia they were apart. This story is actually three distinct stories from the POV of three characters we have all fallen in love with over the years and we get a lot more understanding of what led these three down the path they lived. While the story isn’t distinct and certainly can’t stand alone I consider it to be a continuing epic epilogue that ...more

Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

This novella is basically the missing scene of Con and Rhi’s breakup. It's told from Con, Rhi and Deaths POV so you get a sense of how everyone reacted, and how their feelings and thoughts impacted everything.

I have mixed feelings about this novella. So I should probably say that I have never been a fan of the Rhi and Con relationship. I did like their book, but I never imagined them as a couple while reading this series over the past few year

The day it all changed for Rhi
In this “slice of life” installment in the story of the Dragon Kings, we learn about the event that changed Con, Rhi & Erith. We finally know what happened to each of these beloved characters when Con had Darius tell Rhi is was over.
We always knew how devastated Rhi was when her relationship with Con ended. Now we know what happened to her when she walked through that Fae doorway. We also get little clues about Rhi’s connection to the Fae realm that just grows over

This is a novella in the Dark Kings world, and it absolutely must be read in the order of the series or you will not understand what is happening, and there are also spoilers for events in previous books. With that being said, we see the point of view for Rhi, Con, and Death in this novella. I don't want to say a whole lot because, as I said, they would be a spoiler for previous books. And I definitely don't want to ruin anything for anyone still reading the series for the first time. What I wil ...more

I received an advance reader copy from the author. This is my honest review.

First let me start off by saying that I'm thrilled and honored that Donna Grant continues to allow us entry to the amazing Dragon King world that she created. Every book is a ticket to visit this world that we've all fallen in love with.

In this novella, we get to spend more time with Rhi, Con, and right away I know this is going to be another fantastic visit. This one though...this was filled with heartache

Avid readers of the Dark Kings series have been begging for more of what came “before” regarding the storylines of Conn, Rhi and Death and Donna Grant does not disappoint.

I can only imagine how difficult it would be to take a rich tapestry - such as this beloved series - and go back to insert more color around established storylines. Donna Grant did a solid job pulling the threads together. It’s more challenging to write a review of this book because you must keep in mind, this series is many, m

I am extremely grateful we have been given this novella to read. To have it in a small book form instead of just a flashback in one of the other novels really was great. I liked getting the perspective from the 3 people who were involved in the break up and it definitely answered some questions. I could feel Rhi's sorrow and heartache from page one and I could feel Con's urgency in saving her from what had happened to her. Most of all, Erith completely redeemed herself in my eyes. OF FIRE AND FLAME is a prequel novella in Donna Grant’s DARK KINGS paranormal/fantasy romance series focusing on the Dragon Kings and the women they love. This novella gives us the opportunity to go back and see what we knew had happened. This book is broken up into 3 parts. In each section we are given the true and raw emotion of Rhiannon, Constantine and Erith, and what they endured.

First, we see the break up of Con and Rhi. That message was carried by Darius, “It’s Over”. This quick and short message shattered her heart. We then get a glimpse into how Rhi handles her loss.

That brings us to Con. We see his inner struggle with whether he did th

Rhi, Con & Erith ... non-stop emotions

From beginning to end Donna Grant has ensure that OF FIRE AND FLAME will pull on every emotion possible. I just didn’t know how much pure sadness my heart could cope with. I have always wanted to know exactly what transpired when Con and Rhi separated, and Donna has answered every question superbly.

“Con was her best friend, her love, her... everything. ... And her heart ... was gone.”
“She was the balm to his soul, the other half of his heart. She balanced

I highly recommend this short read, its a page turner, and I could not put it down. I wanted to learn more about what has happened behind the scenes....

Heart wrenching to read about the pain both characters experienced and the choices Erith has had to make. Donna Grant is such an amazing writer the reader feels and experience's the same pain. This short read these characters experience so many emotions grief, resentment, pain, heartache, revenge, loneliness, love, loss and so many more.

This is a very short book, and it deals with three of the characters from Donna Grant’s Dark World series of books: Rhiannon-who is a light Fae; Constantine-a Dragon King who is King of Golds and King of Dragon Kings; and Death -also known as Erith, a woman who appears to be a goddess. The story gives a little history of their character, and how and why their interactions are important to the overall series. The answers that we've all been waiting for are here. What happened that fateful day? Three points of view. Each heartbreaking in their telling. And a determination - one to move on and forget, one to remember and hope that love will find it's way back, one to cherish what is held with a promise to love.

What you need to know: This is NOT a stand alone. This is what long time readers of Ms. Grants books have longed for - an answer as to what happened that day. It is told from three different poin

Of Fire and Flame is a novella in the Dark Kings series which gives longtime readers a bit of insight into the breakup of the epic love story between the King of Dragon Kings Constantine and his Fae mate/queen Rhiannon. Told from three points of view, Con, Rhi, and Death; readers are given a new perspective on the breakup of the couple which took place eons ago.

Fire and Flame is yet another journey into Rhi and Con's past. We learn more about how the events touched and influenced the people close to you. We also meet Erith and understand the background to why she became the way she is.
It is a short novella that on the one hand gives loyal readers of the Dragon series a deeper insight into the special events around Rhi and Con, but on the other hand leaves them amazed at some inconsistencies in connection with other books from this period.

There is a reason why I do not like reading the past of the people I read in the books that I enjoyed. Namely, because the pain they felt is magnified and you can really feel like you are the character yourself.

OFAF is a book that will make you cry over and over again, it will make you curse the 3 beings in the book. It will also make you understand why the actions were done.

To be honest, I have to speed read the other parts, it was too much. And I cannot bear reading their pain. But with the l

I am going to address the issue when it comes to this book first, because I want my review to be honest. If you remember every detail of every Dark World/Dark King book, you may have an issue with this one. Are there some inconsistencies? Yes. Honestly this doesn’t bother me as much as it does some people. There might be something that was in one book that isn’t in this one, or the timeline might be off. If you take Of Fire and Flame as it’s own story you will enjoy it. I sure did. Of Fire and F ...more

Of Fire and Flame is a story looking at the past concerning the Dark Kings. Donna Grant has done a marvelous job filling in the background of the characters Rhi and Con. Inferno gave many reveals and revelations of the couple. Of Fire and Flame gives many of the how it all happened. For that reason I would highly suggest reading the Inferno first. In fact, having read the series in order, I would suggest doing the same but that is twenty books to tackle for a new reader.

OF FIRE AND FLAME is a look at the past through the eyes of Rhi, Con and Death (Eirth) during the time that Con and Rhi were separated. The actions of all three are studied here in this offering, with some new details and some heart break to add to that which fans have already gone through.

This is an emotional read given in three different points of view. We look at Rhi who was nearly destroyed when Con sent another to tell her it was over. (Cowardly you might say, but read it all from Con's POV

I received an ARC of this book in return for my honest review. I’m not usually a fan of prequels, but Donna Grant may have changed my mind on the value of them for certain characters.  Of Fire and Flame by Donna Grant is a prequel novella that’s part of the Dark King series. If you haven’t read the series, I’d strongly recommend that you read Inferno (at a minimum) before reading this novella.

This is a very short peek into what happened shortly after Con had ended his relationship with Rhi. And he didn't even do it himself. He had sent Darius to do the dirty deed.

This story is told first from Rhi's perspective, then Con's, and finally Erith's. It doesn’t really add a lot to the overall story. It does give the reader some insight into Rhi's actions and her feelings. I felt very strongly with her, and I have to admit, at this point I didn't really care so much about Con's heartbre
