This was good. John is being prepared to fight and Ivy has excisions with her team. Remy is great and it that it found a way to survive. Stephanie and the Morgan’s are returning but to what kind of world??

Love the book and series! Here for more of Stephanie's story mainly. Now my thoughts on the main characters:

I can't fucking stand Ivy like I legit dislike her so much its almost bordering on hate. John is mildly irritating but this is in comparison to Ivy who I have established I almost hate. Why does she always have to have a sarcastic fucking quip for EVERYTHING like she doesn't have normal conversation. She's super condescending to John ALL of the TIME, she is NOT funny (her jokes just don't land with me), she gets in the way a lot, butts in when not needed, and she was always snapping at John and losing her temper for the pettiest shit like not for anything worth getting angry and snippy about but she was constantly doing this -_- I'm over her already and know I'll likely have to deal with her for 4 more books if I continue to read the series.

Giving it a 5 stars for the plot and story and the continuation of the Morgana plot line but taking away 2 of those stars because I hate Ivy.

Absolutely phenomenal. I basically devoured this book and will reread again soon. While reading the Witch of the Federation series will give you more understanding and depth it is not necessary if you want to start with this series. The second installment was just as enthralling as the first and we got to see the characters show significant growth. The connections to the Witch series are added in in such a way that you can slowly assimilate them and figure them out as well. I can't wait until book 3 comes out and I sincerely hope the author notes are incorrect, or revised, and we have more than 6 books in this series. I'd love to see it as a Kurtherian Gambit level with not only spin offs but the core characters having dozens of books. I'm hooked. I love reading but rarely have I been this excited about a new series. Definitely worth getting imo and it is available in Kindle unlimited as well.

"Run John, Run"

AWESOME! I cannot wait... No, really, I will be anxiously awaiting book 3.( And the others too)

I started this whole story with The Heretic. As I waited for book 2, I read The Witch of the Federation series, & loved it! Now, it's strange knowing that none of your characters will be in my life until New Year's night.

So, thanks MA, for giving me something to do until I toast the New Year with hubby; we celebrate with a cup of Cocoa. And then back to reading - usually with a cat blanket since there are cats in the book. And my cats love a good story (I always wondered if they can read my mind as I read... ya know?)

Maybe there could be a Next series after the Heretic /John to tie up both series. Or perhaps a "future" story TBD?

Dammit

Michael, you have done it again. Wrapped up in the story, emotionally invested in the characters, I am forced to wait again for the next book. I should have learned by now. I will rally the Lawn Faeries and the Garden Gnome clans. Your life will become a living torment with the sounds of boiling Pepsi and the tortured screaming of the rubber chickens should the next book slip its promised release. I remember when you released a book a week....Slacking will not be forgiven. This is, if the reader hasn’t figured it out, a fantastically great read. A seven star minimum. Now WHERE IS MY BOOK???

Another A-MAZ-ING addition! I just as quickly inhaled this book right after I finished the first one... on the same day. I felt a deeper connection to the characters in this series after meeting most of them in the last one. It broadened the world beyond the immediate one into the stars, seamlessly adding the needed characters, plot-twists, tragedy, growth, and brighter hope to drive the story further. I will admit that there were a few times that I really wanted to reach into the book & shake the MFC while hugging & cheering the MMC. Yet, it added to the belief that turned these book characters into real, relatable people. Ready to see what the third book has in store.

Absolutely awesome!

I'm sitting here at 0645 on Dec 3, 2020 with tears leaking unashamedly down my cheeks. I thought that the WotF series was over so I plowed through the first two of HotF only to find that i need to wait another 3+ weeks for the next one.
Damn you Yoda for, once again, giving me characters that i grew attached to and having me wait for you to finish writing... Write faster please.

It's All ComingTogether

John gets training and then more training. The Regime is still seaching for him. Stephanie is waking up the Ebony Knight's crew. The groups that fought the last war other than the Federation navy are coming together.

Lots of action as John and Ivy fight the Regime. The buildup is entertaining, but the best part is coming, so....

Eagerly awaiting the next book.

Sticking this up your review

You ask if we are still willing to stick to the end of the series. Time seems to slow in my reality. I am not very smart and the first book of this new series with John had me a bit confused. I am also old so when change is going to happen let me know, I need to put on my big glasses. The story line is great. Now it is time to start with the kick a** book, already preordered the next. I get a hoot from all of your books.

Like old home week.. only better

The witch of the federation series was my introduction to the work of Michael Anderson. It was such a strong intro that I have followed his work through several universes. Now to return to the start. I cheered as each character from the original series was reintroduced and laughed and shed a few tears over the fate of others Definitely worth the read, especially for fans of urban fantasy

The second series for the Witch of the Federation focus' on John Dunne. Ok great. The audio version is just ok. The Narrator isn't (to me) up to the level of the female Narrator from the first series. 'Gargalemafraigle' (didn't see it written) is pronounced differently between the two. And this male narrator keeps dropping out of the accents. Otherwise the story is good. Not great since it repeats a few things.

Awesome read.

Big fan, since I first read "Death Becomes Her". Read and reread many times what seems like hundreds of your wonderful stories. This is my second review (Avid reader, not a writer) but, I just had to tell you what a gripping page turner you have in this series. I eagerly wait for each book. Thank you for sharing your stories and talent with us. Be well my friend.

Loved this book

Such a great story, really building on John’s journey and rejoining with an old friend. I loved how we see more Stephanie and her team and I can’t wait until Ebony reconnects with her father and sister.

Really looking forward to the next book and seeing how the Regime starts getting what’s it’s due.

Now the fun begins!

This second book has brought the Heretic series into its own and miles ahead of where we left off in the 1st book. It’s a must read for newcomers and fans of the Witch of the Federation series. After reading this I can see the light ahead and I’m pretty sure it’s not an oncoming train.

She IS on the way.

While Stephanie has been gone the Regime has tried to erase her from memory. They steal people who show magical abilities an mind reverse their thinking. A few people try to keep her memory alive , but are accosted at every turn. One person, John Dunn is designated as her Apostle and they keep trying to either capture or kill him to shut him up.

Michael

Has anyone figured out how Michael writes all these books? It's easy for him because he has lived it. It's called factionn! He has taken facts and turned them into fiction. They don't give me enough space to tell his story, maybe I'll tell it on his Facebook page. Until then,,,,,read between the lines and think of earth's history

More to Love!

Another great read in the Witch series. I have to go back to make sure I have the previous arc up to date. I love the series, the new characters and the new problems to deal with. Lots of action to rob me of good nights sleep!

Even better than the first

Excellent second book! Lots of action, some well placed snark and a good push on the action leading up to what I hope will be an exciting conclusion to this arc with book three.

Media politics an the truth

A timely subtle commentary on what happens when fear of people's differences overrides humanity. It also illuminates how the repetitive dissemination of false information can rewrite history. This series has action, magic, heartbreak, strife, rolled in a story about standing up for what is morally right.

This book is much like the first in the series. A little slow, but builds foundation for what is to come.

I tend to like a little faster pace, but the important parts of the foundation might be lost in the flash if it moved too fast.
Already looking for the next book!

Awesome

Reminds me of Gullivers travels future tense. What could happen if we allow the nillist (MAGA, faciest..) would be Emperors to, like Russia today treat humans like cattel and force many of us to kill us.

Heretic aka Stephanie

After Steph helped win the war, she left to keep her promise to Morgana. The bad guys grabbed power on Earth and persecuted all who had magic. Many years have passed but now Steph is aware of the problem and she is coming.

It’s interesting to see the changes that occurred whilst Stephanie was sleeping. There are new characters to meet, and old ones to become reacquainted with. Another great tale in the series.
