Her Best Christmas Present

Santa arrived early for J.D. McNamara and brought her the best gift of all - her own fated mate. Polar bear shifter Cameron Spenser checks off everything on her list: sexy as sin, hot as hell, and a dynamite in the sack. There’s just one little problem: he hates Christmas. But that’s not going to stop the feisty feline shifter. No siree, she’s going to pull out all the stops to bring holiday joy to her Scrooge of a mate and show him the true meaning of Christmas.

Haunted by his Christmas Past

Decorations? Presents? Santa and his reindeer? Bah-humbug and good riddance. That’s what Dr. Cam Spenser thinks of Christmas. The holidays were never a happy time for him and that wasn’t going to change--that is, until he meets his mate. J.D. is a breath of fresh air, the one person who was determined enough to melt his cold heart and pierce through the wall he’s built up all these years.

However, there may not be a Christmas future for them as Cam’s real life obligations are revealed and his time in Blackstone comes to an end. Can they find a way to make their relationship work and form the mating bond or will their differences pull them apart?

This was an absolutely fabulous conclusion to the Blackstone Ranger series. I’m a little teary eyed now that it’s over!
In this book, we FINALLY get to see J.D., (who’s been a favourite of mine since the first book), find her mate. Not only that, but we finally find out what her animal is AND what her nickname stands for. No spoilers here; you’ll have to read the book to find out!
This book is set at Christmas time, though it begins at Thanksgiving, and I absolutely loved all the seasonal references. J.D. wears the funniest seasonal sweatshirts, and I need to find myself one like the thanksgiving one she wears!
As in the previous books, Cam and J.D. are polar opposites, and not just because Cam is a polar bear and J.D. is a-- (haha not telling). I absolutely love the parts where J.D. is outrageously herself, and Cam’s prim and proper reactions are priceless!
There’s some great character development with both Cam and J.D. in this book, and we get to see all the couples from the previous books in this series. I also definitely need to be checking out the other Blackstone series, because we meet Sybil and her mate and I need to find out how that story went down!
All in all, this is a wonderful last instalment in this series, and I’m glad that the author will continue to explore this world with yet another spin-off series.

Oh so good and so very Christmasy! In the last book we found out what type of shifter JD was. But now we really get to learn about her and why she loves Christmas so much. And then there is Cam. He has been somewhat of an enigma throughout the series. He gets to tell his story too. But his might just be a deal breaker for JD or any woman. Fated mates is real and can be wonderful but it can also be heart breaking. All the previous characters make a showing and add all their charm too.

Embrace the holiday spirit

What an absolutely amazing story! I truly enjoyed the characters! They were so down to earth and “real” with saucy language, emotional outbursts, and moral compasses that always point true north. Not to mention a love for family that won’t be denied. The author did a fantastic job of adding to the previous books and mixing a little danger in with the HEA. I can’t wait to see what books this author brings my way next!

Laugh out loud , hilarious fun. After all this is JD’s book

Seasonal fun , romance and adventure from The Blackstone Mountains.
All the usual gang are involved, but I’m not telling you anything about her mate, half the fun is finding out when you read it .

Some great new characters are introduced too and possibly a new direction for the series, new dragons maybe?

Enough said, anyway .
One you start this you won’t want to put it down it’s that good, enjoy.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

J.D. McNamara is a mechanic and owns a garage in Blackstone. She is best friends to Gabriel and Damon since they were a child and they hang out with each other. Since her father has passed, they have a tradition of celebrating the holidays by spending time together. Damon gives her an invitation to the Blackstone Rangers Thanksgiving party and she is excited to see the food and decorations around the place. Cameron Spencer is a researcher at Blackstone Ranger which he is dedicated to observe and preserve the wildlife at the mountains. Suddenly, he meets his mate and everything changes as his need to be around her consumes him. His polar bear immediately recognized his mate and he cannot stop the sensation brought about the mating bond. J.D. knows that Cam is not explaining the reason of why he hates Christmas. He also did not tell her about his responsibilities that has been entrusted to him since he was a child J.D. is a funny, kind, smart, responsible, and cool woman as she took his father's business. Cam is an intelligent, hard working, dedicated, strong, gentleman, and handsome polar bear shifter. His mate is one of the kind due to her unusual personality that captured his attention. They complement each other so well and they have a great chemistry that nothing else matters whenever they are around each other. The plot twist is good and I was not expecting I love how we got to see the other couples and they are happily mated with their fated mates. The character development is good as Cam has a soft and caring side that we did not see. The truth about J.D. name is also revealed which I was not expecting and it was fun to see the banter with her friends. J.D. and Cam finally formed the bond which is such a perfect moment for a HEA story. I love how they finally found each other as they both deserve a happy ending.

I’m a sucker for a good shifter series , and then you add fated mates to the combination, and I’m instantly intrigued. I love the whole dynamics of finding that one person who completes your soul. Then you add in drama, adventure and likable side characters you have the makings of a good series. I started out reading the Blackstone Dragon series. I finished all eight books, went on to the read her true mate series and every book she wrote. Much to my little reading heart, I had to wait on her next series so alas my house definitely got a little cleaner, but the kids actually missed the chicken nugget dinners. 😂 She then wrote a spin off of the Blackstone dragons. It’s the same town, some of the characters I loved, an introduction to new hotties , and their fated mates.
The book I was waiting on the most was JD’s book. I met her back in the Blackstone Dragon series. She’s a feisty mechanic who owns her own garage and is not your stereotypical damsel in distress. Honestly she’s the kind of girl who take you out dancing after a bad break up and will go all Carrie Underwood on your ex. This is the final installment of the Blackstone Rangers series and very fitting for the last book In the series. Oh and did I mention it’s a Christmas book as well? (Score) I like to deck my halls with her mate Cam anytime. Cam is the complete opposite of our Tomboy JD. He’s British, proper and devoted to his research. The only problem is he hates Christmas. JD. She bold, sarcastic and a bit blunt on all ways of life. Oh and did I mention she’s a walking talking lover all things Christmas? Their animal side are in instant lust, but their human sides fumble through their mating as awkwardly as a teenager in middle school.
This book did not disappoint at all. If you love romance, crude humor, sexy times and a little drama ,mix with a Holiday craze shifter and the T -shirts to prove it then I highly recommend.

Great finale and such a refreshing read!

Awwww I loved JD & Cam sooooooo much! I have wanted to hear JDs story for such a long time i wasn't sure it would ever happen, she is one of my favourite female characters!! What a gorgeous couple and it was so refreshing for them to just realise straight away they were it for each other and to work on just being together! I have to say Alicia is really good at capturing such contrasting personalities and making them and the characters emotions come alive on the page, so much so It feels as though you could see them walking around town and considering this is a shifter book, thats a a real feat! I was honestly shocked by cams revelation and how it ties into the Blackstone dragon family, very cleverly done and so great to see some old favourites from the last series again. I really hope this is not the last we see of these characters, I've really grown to love Blackstone and I cant wait to hear more about the lovely Natalia and what really happened to Sasha, I am so excited for more dragons and shifters from Alicia Montgomery, her books always give me such escapism from real life with an extra big dose of awwww and a HEA!!

I voluntarily reviewed an arc copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

Fantastic romance with lots of depth!

J.D. is more than just one of the guys. Best friends with Damon and Gabriel since childhood, she's very good at keeping her girly side safely hidden away. When she comes face to face with Cam and recognizes him instantly as her mate, their connection is instant and we are treated to her hardcore romantic side.

Ah, but Cam is hiding some secrets - ones that he fears will keep J.D. from fully committing to him for the long run. I loved the way they each worked on compassion and communication right from the start to overcome their initial hurdles.

I was quite impressed with the complexity of both the set up of the familial crisis and its eventual resolution. This is a well thought out and beautifully developed storyline that hit all the right spots in my heart.

And I'm old enough to appreciate the nod to one of my favorite stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood - very nicely done.

Their HEA was sweet, and the epilogue was spectacular. Cam and J.D. are opposites who are exactly perfect for each other. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Perfect ending to the Ranger series, although I hate to see it end, or is it? Finally JD's story, and man was it worth the wait! JD has been such a backdrop to this series, always speaking her mind and unafraid to cuss anyone out and I was such a fan. So the fact that she was finally getting her HEA was awesome and I couldn't wait to see who her mystery mate was.

They are such opposites, but JD being JD waists no time jumping the mans bones as soon as her cat figures out he is her mate which is right away, why wait, they go at it like bunnies and on Damon's desk of all places.

Cameron Spencer is such a nerd, you would never peg him as JD's mate, but that he is. But Cam is not all that he seems to be and he is afraid that his little feisty cat will high tail it when she finds out.

Cam doesn't take into account that brooklyn born JD can take a whole lot more than she is given credit for. Add all the laugh out loud moments, twists and turns, and the steamy romance and you have quite a read.

This book is a keeper!

Alicia, great job I so loved this series. I was asked to read this book about J.D. and Cam and give an honest review. Alicia and I have a deal, but I won't allow her to give me a free book. These authors work hard writing them, and I am more than capable of getting them.

Ok,first off, I love that you talk to your characters, because I do it also. I laugh with them and at them when they do or say something I would do. First I thought what's with all the bickering? You have to different kinds of shifters, one male (Cam) and one female (J.D.) both hiding secrets. Which secret will come out first? Or will these secrets be the end of fated mates as we know them? I was very thrilled with the ending. I love HEA's. Do I recommend? Heck yeah. But most importantly, this is a keeper in the way that you can read this book many times and never get bored with it. I enjoy pulling out one of these as a buffer between series.

Blackstone Ranger Scrooge: Blackstone Rangers (6)

Oh my! Such a brilliant series, this was by far the best though. Had a feeling it would be. Book 1 was good , each I got better as you got to know the characters. Worked out certain people weren't right as I went, though not why, but wow! How this progressed, how it ended up, nah! Hadn't a clue. J. D. & Cam, that was a pleasant surprise. The whole book, series even, , was excellent and!!!! There will be yet another series, it's still being written, but hopefully will be around soon. I'll have to wait and see, cannot begin a series until I have them all. I like continuity, ok, I'm impatient, bring it on Alicia Montgomery

The winter holidays have always been feline shifter, mechanic J.D. McNamara’s favorite time of year and though this year’s celebrations will be different since her friends have found their mates. But for the first time, J.D.’s been invited to the Ranger Thanksgiving party and she meets her mate, polar shifter Dr. Cameron Spenser.

Cam’s shy, awkward and has made a mis-step or two in the close-knit community while working a research project with a long history of lonely holidays, so much so that he dreads them. Darcy’s living out loud attitude and Cam’s plodding logical way of approaching life makes for cute moments as she integrates him in her circle of friends. Reality has to set in as Cam has responsibilities across the pond that will affect things. So now what?!?!

Dropped at 26%. I was not a big fan of J.D. in the previous book and that continued on into this book. One conversation about how her mate dislikes Christmas and she pulls the let me out of the car right here move and is ready to throw in the towel on the whole thing. Sure she apologizes a few minutes later but my god that was the stupidest manufactured fight I have ever seen. This is also the second book in the series where as soon as the mate pair meets they immediately have sex. They don't even exchange names just straight to the fucking on the nearest flat surface. If that happens again I probably won't read any more of the series. I'm not reading them in order anyway so it doesn't matter all that much.

A fitting end

A good ending to a good series of course it had to be JD's story her character has always been great from the start she always had a strong endearing personality she is a tough tough tomboy even her animal was a surprise. The last person you would expect to be her mate is the totally proper Dr Cameron Spenser. He has a lot of surprises of his own his royal blood and English peerage for a start. These two immediately recognise that they are mates and the air sizzles around them, they are like chalk and cheese but somehow it works. A really good ending to a great series.

A fantastic ending to this great series!

Although J.D.'s not technically a Ranger, she is family, and besides, who could say no to her?!? Lol! You get a glimpse of the beginning of her story in the last book, and what a shock that was! She's definitely fierce, secretive (especially when it comes to her animal & her name! Lol!), but loyal to the core. She's certainly paired with the perfect mate, weather or not they believe it.
I'm looking forward to more stories in the Blackstone Universe, hopefully soon?!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

Fantastic story about the shifters

JD is a African black footed cat shifter and an auto mechanic who owns her own shop. Her mate is Cam who has two Ph.D and assigned to the Blackstone Mountains as a Ranger and a polar bear shifter. He does not like Christmas dued to unfortunately lack of Christmas Spirit in his family. If that wasn't enough problem, JD has a stalker.
And Cam's grandma is a princess?

This fast paced Christmas comedy suspense will keep the reader chuckling. The characters are funny, sexy, and stubborn. I love the banner between Cam and JD.

Highly recommended.

Royal Ranger

This story has a few funny parts that made me laugh but not as many as I expected from JD. The on again off again JD and Cam story seems to be missing some of the adventure of some of this authors other stories. I think I liked the True Mates series better, it seemed more fantasy set in reality than this seems fantasy set in fantasy... not that this is bad but sometimes I think it might suit a younger crowd...the fantasy in fantasy... I liked this ending it sorta brought together the Rangers, the Blackstone Mountain family, and gave a bit of an lead into the Dragons and the Queen's new home... I may wait a little to read the dragon stories though.

Worth The Fight ~

I enjoyed reading this story. I’m glad she got her own. I liked that she was a foul mouthed tomboy who was perfectly happy being who she wanted to be, and had amazing friends who thought so too. He was uptight and rigid, and the thought of those two desecrating his boss’s desk had me laughing. The biggest theme running throughout this series is their utter lack of effective communication with their mates. That of course, led to unnecessary drama and confusion, making things so much harder than they needed to be. But in the end, each of them formed an incredible bond with their mate. Loved this series, and loved that this was the story to wrap it up.

Absolutely loved JD's book.

OMG. I have been waiting for JD's book for ages. I loved her character and the fact that she wasn't afraid to be herself. H?e cat was cute but deadly if you look it up on Google. She was well paired with Cam although he made it so hard for himself when he was late in telling her all about himself. I could of given him a row if JD hadn't of been able to take care of herself. Loved the story but sad it's the end. Although we may be having a few more books that will feature a few of Blackstone character. I can't wait

I have been waiting to read JDs story for a long time and it didn’t disappoint. They seemed so mismatched (Cam the softly spoken doctor and JD the larger than life mechanic ) but this is a fantastic story about going for what/who you want despite the things against you. We get to really understand JD and why the holidays are important to her and we get to see her vulnerable side. It makes us love her even more. Cam is a fantastic character and he loses his head around JD🤪
A great edition to the series

An English noble finds a way to work at Blackstone Park, where he literally runs into his mate.

But settling down with a mate is not always easy. Cam has to deal with kidnapping attempts on JD, the family problems from his Russian (once and maybe still mobster ) side of the family, an ex fiance who wants him back even tho she cheated on him, and various misunderstandings between him and JD. There is a happy ending, but it takes them both working hard to protect each other, and to protect his grandmother from his uncle.

The polar bear finds his forever kitty

The last book of the rangers series and rather sad at the ending. As you read about the previous couples from the mountain series. They all a big family and now there story has come to sweet end.
All the characters are fun and charming easy to love. Story flows well with good fun and suspense to keep the reader enjoying every page.
Highly recommended to readers that love shifter series, and readers that have read books similar to T. S. Joyce (another favourite)
Absolutely worthwhile reading all of the books.

Fulfilling

It was a very good story to get caught up in. I enjoyed the characters that were in it. I liked how the characters were able to work out the different episodes or the different individual problems for the person. After they are able to work out their problems then they are able to then work on the character they find a interest in. Once they are done, they are then able to work out their goals and have their lives together continue on.
So now read more about what the problems are and how they are faced.

One of my favorite in the Blackstone series

I love this book since yes it’s a Christmas book but the characters JD and Cam such an unlikely pairing but it worked. I laugh and laugh and had to explain a few scenes to my husband who was wondering why I was laughing so much. What I could have asked for more details on that year before the wedding and have JD in Russia handling that side of Cam’s family. I have officially read all the Blackstone books. I recommend to all over the age of 18 of course.

Good read

Blackstone series are amazing. Reading about Blackstone dragons was good, enjoyed every minute of it. Loved all the characters and their stories , their love and the fight against the obstacles in their way to fulfill their destiny, the mating bond and live happily ever after. The Blackstone Rangers series reading was great reading again. I laughed hard, and cry , along with the characters in their quest to find love happiness and of course completion of the magical mating bond.

Loved it!

I enjoyed reading this book. And I am so glad that it J.D. and Cam were forgiving people who did not dwell on their hurt feelings and how they felt they were mistreated. (Those types exhaust me.) Each time something happened, one or the other focused on getting past it and knew how to apologize. Loved this! More stories like this please! This was the last book in the series, and I have enjoyed all of them!

Blackstone Ranger Scrooge

Interesting storyline and characters. You can’t help but love irrepressible J.D. and her mate Cam. J.D. really loves Christmas. Cam, on the other hand, hated Christmas! His love for J.D. brought him around. Through J.D. he and his uncle brokered a deal to abstain from the blood oath Cam’s beloved grandmother had been under. All in all, a happy day for all!

JD has found her perfect mate in Cam!

JD was such a big part of the Ranger family that she needed her HEA. Cam has never quite fit in with the rest of our Ranger family and never really cared. When they met nature took over and neither one was fighting it. They have numerous hurtles to overcome, secrets to share, a misguided suitor, a conniving and rude ex to deal with and all kinds of family drama. I loved Cam's grandmother, Natalia, she was wonderful! This was a perfect ending for this series and I recommend it highly!
