Sometimes you have to start a war, and that’s just what I’m going to do.
They took my soulmate. I will get him back, even if I have to destroy everything to do so.
Don't miss the penultimate book in The Coven: Fae Magic Series!
**Trigger Warning: This book contains a scene with minor sexual violence that some may find triggering. If you feel this may bother you then please skip the scene labeled "Amelia" - if you read Rogue Witch, then you know.*
Please read the books in this world in order as you will not benefit from the excellent plots and characters. This is another excellent, well written story.
I got most of my questions from the last book answered and then some.
~~~~~~~~SPOILER'S BELOW~~~~~READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We pick up with Bentley coming back. And yep, he's definitely older. Seven years to be exact. He knows how to get the others back as well, but it's going to be really risky. Oh, and he has some new powers. Yep, Bentley is pretty damn badass now.
So, again we jump from POV to POV.
Amelia, D's cousin, is older now as well, but she didn't skip ahead in age like Bentley did. The king jumper her up in age. There's a whole chapter on this from her POV but read with caution. It can definitely trigger. Chandelle lets you know this way ahead of time also.
It seems like Landy is older as well, but we're not told by how much. Maybe the same as Amelia and Bentley. They're both 16 now.
Okay.....so in order to get to Seelie to get the others back, they have to go through this land, say the right words so they go to Seelie and not Unseelie, and then face all kinds of crap in Seelie as well. Only four can go to Seelie, but more are allowed into the land to get them to Seelie. To say it's a shitshow once they get there is an understatement.
Lennox is knocked out pretty much immediately. Devon and Teagan almost die. Emery wanders off and Deacon is forced to use his powers to control her, which he really hates. Hunter breaks his leg. No one's powers will work right, and now so many people are hurt and have to be carried by the others.
They do manage to get Saffie, Savannah, Lily, and Willow to Seelie though. But the worst is most definitely not over. Now they have to get back out of this land.
Oh, and did I forget to mention they are still having to keep track of the demon Henley?!?! Yeah, total shit show!!!
Saffie, Savannah, Lily, and Willow are split up pretty much as soon as they step foot in Seelie. Eventually they find each other again, but shit has hit the fan and nothing is going right. They're able to get Amelia, Landy, and Riah out, but they lose Lily along they way. Not sure if she died or what??? We would assume died though because a new Sun card is chosen. They also have to leave Paulina.
Back on earth, the Henley demon has gone and gotten the new Sun card and has summoned an even greater demon. Yeah, so freaking helpful right now.
Thankfully they have plenty of help from Riah's brother and his mate. AND.......Prince Thorne......who is Saffie's freaking DAD!!!!!! Yep, that's right!
Oh, and Riah finds out he is the son of Lucifer. Yes!!! I was so freaking right!!! That tricky bastard found a loophole in the rule.
Also Amelia finds out she's a shifter as well as a witch. Apparently Teagan and Tenn knew this already.....but Teagan knows basically everything so this is no surprise lol. Anyway now Amelia is going with Koth to learn about her shifting abilities.
With the help of Chloe and Malachi they're able to get the demon out of Henley.
Easton and Braison ran off to Seelie when no one was looking. I mean can you blame them though????
Then a big ass twist is thrown in. Sage opens the tunnel and it spits out another Willow!?!?!? WHAT THE FUCK???? Is she the real one and the other a fake??? I need ANSWERS!!! Chandelle LaVaun You're giving me grey hairs with all this stress lol. JK. Love this series so much!!!
Oh, and Frankie woke up!!!
Yeah.....so a lot of shit went down in this book. A lot of questions were answered, but a lot more need to be answered. So ready for the next book. About to do a complete reread before that next book comes though. I need to make sure I'm all caught up on all the details. Definitely one of my top 3 FAVE supernatural series!!!
This series is one hell of a ride and I am so happy I jumped onto it! Action packed this had me on the edge of my seat literally hanging on by my nails!! This made me laugh in places and had me tears in others, it’s gripping and exciting and there’s so much going on in this amazing world that when it finished I was left just sitting there, quiet for a while absorbing it all in. Questions have been answered but others have arisen and the twists and turns I did not see coming and I am so excited for book four!
It has taken me some time to find the words to explain this book. The first that came to mind are; inspiring, heart wrenching, enthralling, and magnificent. It is by far my favorite book Chandelle has written as of yet. The amount of detail and thought in this book is nothing short of incredible. This book will pull you in, chew you up, put you back together, give you a hug and a kiss and then slap you in the face. The twists and turns will make you want to stop reading because your heart stops, but you have to push through because in the end it is worth it. Never have I read a series that owns me like The Coven has and I can't wait to see what happens next.
The Coven has its hands over full now. A Coven member and Card is demon possessed and is raising Greater Demons, their Empress is in a coma, a Soulmate missing, trips to The Old Lands (extremely life threatening), planned and unplanned trips to Seelie, lives and Cards lost, angels and a doppelganger of a Card. Absolutely a fast paced, full of action, wonderful read!
OMG!!!! Chandelle has done it again! And she does it perfectly. Saffie’s journey just gets better and better! The adventure that you will go on when you read this book, will keep you invested. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and I mean the very edge of your seat. The Rotten Witch is a roller coaster of emotions. This is one book that you will NOT want to miss!!
First off this book was a whole lot of crazy ma’am . Some really horrible things went down and it just breaks you because these characters become “people “ you care about. The some hilarious things go down . I love Savannah she absolutely perfect. The ending though 🤯🤬😭
DIOS MIOOOOO Chandelle nunca falla. Este libro lo tiene todo. Ya en el tercer libro de la tercera temporada y no puedo creer que me sigue sorprendiendo; son increíbles todas las idas y venidas (si pudo imaginarse esto, no sé que nos depara en el futuro para The Coven). Este libro en particular me resultó súper dinámico y, a pesar de que fue con el que más tardé de la saga, en mí opinión fue re ligero y de lectura rápida. Para empezar, creo que de todos los libros que ya sacó en el universo de The Coven, es en el que más acción hay. Durante todo el libro hay varias acciones simultáneas, que te llevan a distintos grupos haciendo cada uno su propia misión, cada una más atrapante que la anterior. Además de mucha acción tenemos ~Fuertes declaraciones~. Encima no sé cómo hace esta mujer, pero te revela algo, y te quedas 🤯. Pero después viene y te dice otra cosa, y vos tipo: 🤯⚠️🌋🧨💣⚰️🗡️⁉️. Y bueno, así quedamos 🙃. Para continuar, creo que cabe resaltar que incluso si el libro en su mayoría es de acción, no le falta, en absoluto, el romance. Oesa, GENTE PREPARENSE QUE PASAN COSAS. Como era de esperarse, amé el libro. Chandelle no decepciona.
Puntuación: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ PD, amé esa referencia al primer libro 🥺 ---------------- Now, I'll try to translate 🙂 (not really translate, imma just write it again really) MAI GOOOOOOOSH Chandelle never fails. This book has everything. Already in the third book of the third season and I can't believe the fact that it still surprises me; all the ups and downs are just incredible (if she could imagine this, then I wonder what the future of The Coven is). This book has been so dynamic, and despite it being the one in which I lasted the most, I believe it was very light and fast-to-read. For starters, I believe that of all books already out in the covenverse, in this one there's the most action. Throughout the whole book, there's several simultaneous actions that carry you through different groups, each of them with their own quest, each one better than the last. Apart from a lot of action we have ~strong declarations~ (not sure if you say this, but at least here [Argentina], we say this a lot in news' charts). On top of it, idk how this woman does it, but she reveals sth and you're like 🤯. But than she comes with another reveal, and you're like:🤯⚠️🌋🧨💣⚰️🗡️⁉️. And well, that's how we end up 🙃. To continue, I believe worth of mention that even if most of the book is of action (is that how you say it? Of action?), it doesn't lack, at all, the romance. I mean, BEWARE THAT THINGS GONNA HAPPEN. As expected, I loved the book. Chandelle does not disappoint.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BTW I loved that reference to the first book 🥺
It is more of a 2.5 than a 3 stars. I have been following the coven from The lost witch book. So know that when I right this, I right it with the frustration of all the series.
problems with the book: 1. There is just too much going on with little progress of the main story. (Saffie's story). 2. The introduction of a new card felt unnecessary because let's face it nothing is going to happen with that for a while. I mean the tower card was introduced so long ago but still hadn't made an appearance in the action. 3. Tegan. I have no problem with her except that she is too overpowered. I mean she is the Ather witch, has book of shadows, teleportation, mind talk and can practically take down the coven on her own. This feels so wrong because in a team of 22 if only 1 has all the power, it brings down the value of rest of the character's power. 4. Now Amelia turned out to be a shifter. Oh my god I can almost see her having her own series (And i would have to read it because all the effing series are connected). Why can't some characters be just extra and not future main leads? 5. Too many open ends. Savannah and Cooper, Bentley, Frankie, the new sun card, Henley etc. Come on. No progress is being made in there stories and i want to know their stories. Please don't let there be whole books over each of the open ends because I want to see conclusion to some of these open ends and not want to wait for a whole series too come out on them.
This book and and this series on its own is just fine but with the added f**kery of last two series, it gets a little frustrating. I don't know why the story is getting unreasonably complex with too much drama ( less action), more problems than problem solving and open endings. There are so many characters and i repeat why can't they just be that instead of potential future main leads.
Thinks I liked: The books have one helluva cliffhangers which makes you read more. It is still an easy and enjoyable read ( only if you have read all the coven books because if not then you are effed.) The characters are great and the world building is good. Bentley, Frankie and Cooper's story is what is making me read this series. This book has a lot going on and so even without Saffie's story, there are other plots and characters that keep people interested.
Everyone knows that, so frankly when my friend were tore up by the ending of the book, I expected to be to. However, I'm getting used to Chandelle's style of writing. She loves shock and awe so I expect it now. The book starts with 4 people chosen to go to Seelie to save Riah. Then there is a group chosen to lead them through a mythical land in order to get to Seelie. I loved the genius way they decide who by pulling cards from a tarot deck. That way if anyone complains you can blame the cards, lol. Anyway the journey to Seelie is treacherous. Many are injured and lots have to be carried home. When the four get to Seelie they find the price they paid pretty steep for some! Unfortunately, the Knights show up and everyone ends up separated. Now Waffle is alone with no help and no friends to lean on. She can't break Riah out of the dungeon alone. The Kings army is huge! Lucky for Saffie she runs into Saffie group called The Circle. She soon learns they have the same goals. Slowly Saffie runs into her friends as Ziva helps her get to the castle dungeon. While this is going on possessed Henley is running around and summoning greater demons. Then attacking other cities, I think to throw The Coven off. The shadow demon has plans, we just don't know them. It's the reason Henley let herself be possessed again. Towards the end we finally get that heartfelt reunion between Riah and Malachi. They hatch a plan to save Henley. Next they need to figure out a strategy to win the Seelie war and then the Demon war. And because both places are in need of dead evil leaders, I predict The Coven will have to split in order to accomplish both. Or they get the Seelie war out of the way then concentrate on Earth. However, they are the protectors of Earth so they would have to leave some behind to protect the humans. Anyway the ending is full of surprises. Including who Prince Thorne really is! There are two identical Coven members. And Frankie finally awakens, but to who?
The good: Bently & Saffie kick ass. The Seelie world was amazing, wished this book focus more on that world & Saffie journey. Loved Ziva! Loved learning about Saffie parents. Having Malachi, Chloe & Spot return was AWESOME! Bad ass Bently made my day! Amelia being so much more than a witch was fantastic! The Bad: Gigi, the treatment of her was gross. Like why do you need to have them bully this kid. Tenn & Tegan is starting to become everything they claimed they didn’t want to be. I’m very disappointed in them. Total jerks toward a confused girl. *Spoiler* Amelia, when you tell us we can skip a chapter cause what happens has no real purpose to the story, then you don’t need it. It’s vile to include a detail attempted rape of a 12yr old. Lily… yeah no. That was not needed. Savannah… this mouthy not at all how us Southerners speak at all, wanna be Tegan. Her turning on Gigi was low, her always being the new “it” girl annoying & I really would have preferred to have more Saffie POV. The Daddy thing with Cooper over played. Finally, too much happening constantly. Look you could have written 3 books with all the damn POVS and constant group changes. These no longer feel like the fun YA books they started out to be. This author is getting too dark & adult and not doing a good job at either.
What a Rotten world to have Such a Rotten Fi king.
Oh my, my my. Safie along with the help of coven mates and civilian witches to find their respective missing loved ones in the Steeley World Saffie struggles to find out there is a prophecy about her in the Fi world to start a revolution. Bentley trying to reestablish his place along the Coven, but improves in several ways in power and battle skills. Amelia.. Sigh, I hope that rotten monster gets what 's coming to him for what he did to that poor witch. Paulina, well she wasn't shown much in this book but something tells me she'll be a new woman in the next book! Landie, we'll need to find out what happens to her hopefully soon! Riah, what a strong Fi to endure such cruel punishments but can Saffie get to him in time with the help of the Coven and others? Well you'll need to forgive me, I think I've given enough hints that will make y'all wanna read this latest installment.
Chandelle LaVaun has done an amazing job with this newest release. So much drama, so much cliffhanging moments. Ugh, makes me wanna pester her to come up with her books faster, lol!
Oh and Savannah. I think she'll become a coven memeber soon. I'm just trying to figure out whic card it would be..
First of all, this was a really long book. Over 500 pages. It took a long time for me to get around to reading it because I had some moral trouble with some of the events of the last book. It also took me longer to read this book than previous Coven books, most of which I devoured in a few hours.
The good: we got back to questing with a trip to Seelie to rescue Riah. Seelie was beautiful and fun and scary, as it should be. There are wild revelations about characters that were really fun. If you like the fight scenes, there are also plenty of demon fights, as the Coven chases possessed Henley. There is also a new card, and she seemed like she could be a really fun character at first.
The bad: The book starts with a chapter resolving the Gigi subplot. I found it confusing and frustrating and upsetting and was mad about it for hours. I suggest skipping this chapter if you liked Gigi--just assume she isn't coming back. Full disclosure, my daughter has an anxiety disorder, so I have feelings about Gigi's situation. The book ends on a cliffhanger. Did I mention the book was really long? Yet, I would have liked more character building moments.
I think that's as much as I can say without spoilers.
The Rotten Witch is the third book in the Coven: Fae Magic series which follow Saffie as a main character and WOW. This is definitely the most fast paced, action packed book compared to the previous two. In this book we follow Saffie and the team into Seelie to rescue their friends that have been kidnapped and Riah.
I really loved how Saffie was joined by a different set of characters to go on her quest with rather than Tegan and Tenn. I loved reading the different points of view of Lilly and Savannah. Chandelle excels in her character development and seamlessly weaves the story through each of the characters POV. I love the sassiness, the humour and the sarcasm from many of the characters.
I loved this book and the story line progression however it literally killed me at times. The twists and turns, the heartbreak and the massive Cliffhanger ending! I think I'm still recovering after the cliffhanger of an ending in book 2. I can't wait to read the next book and if anyone wants to vent/ discuss/ cry together definitely check out Chandelle's Chandwitches Facebook group.
OMG 😲!!! This book is amazing!!! Each page is thrilling, once you start reading it, you do not want to put it down!!! So much excitement and action going on.. my heart ❤️ is racing….. All the way to the end.
What I absolutely loved about this book was that it never lost its momentum and I was constantly on my toes, trying to guess what would come next, trying to figure out the grand scheme of things, but Chantelle is too good at throwing twist after twist at you then running away like a kid yelling NOT IT! I was completely Hooked, line and sinkered!!!!
I definitely recommend this book/series, now I can’t wait to read book 4 when it comes out next year…
I received an advanced copy of this book and VOLUNTARILY decided to review it”
This is my honest opinion and I hope you will enjoy and love this book as much as I have...
I am at a complete loss of words. Chandelle’s writing will never cease to amaze me. This book had so many feels I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. Holy cliffhanger….. there is so much going on and so many things that are about to happen….. and now I have to wait for the next book. I feel like I’m going to need to reread this book at least two more times because I’m sure I missed something. The story is absolutely marvelous. The writing is amazing. She manages to have me completely immerse in the story. I love that when she switches the POV in the chapter, you always know exactly which perspective you are in. She gives such a strong voice to each of her characters. You can set the book down and come back to it, and you’ll know exactly whose POV you are in just from the writing. My mind is blown. Hands down my favorite author. Now I have to very (im)patiently wait for the next one and I don’t even know what to do with myself.
Another fabulous installment in LaVaun's Coven/Fae series! Breathtaking and heart rending imagery, action and magic so thick you lose yourself in the story, love, hate and everything in between from page one! With only one book left in this series/season, LaVaun takes great pains investing in both her series and her readers: she wrote this book knowing the readers would not be able to put it down once we started reading. LaVaun takes her craft to the next amazing level with Rotten Witch, so Mich so that the wait for The Death Witch is going to feel devastating! Though we have to wait for the next installment, I look forward to seeing just how our Faerie witch, Saffie, comes I to her power fully, and to see if our new Tower, Frankie, comes out of her coma and into the Coven! Omg, my heart is pounding just thinking about all the ways LaVaun will twist a d turn out hearts now! Best reading I have ever had!!!
This is the third book of the coven : fae magic and I was absolutely blown away. The writing is epic in every way. The twist and turns and the adventure is on point. I devoured this book and wished it didn't end. The action scenes were exhilarating and the characters are so well designed and thought-out. This book will have you shouting, crying, laughing and your mouth open in shock. This whole series is my favourite so far. The cliffhanger will have you staring at the page for 5 mins trying to process... It's that amazing. Chandelle lavaun has created such an amazing book that you know you're going to want to reread because there is so much happening. Overall, I would give this book more stars if I could and I would recommend this book, the whole series to everyone! It's a beautiful world that you wish you could be a part of! Absolutely adore this book!
Considering the jaw dropping cliffhanger from the last book, it took me a while to sink into this one and become immersed in the world but once I did it certainly didn't disappoint.
As with all coven books there's plenty of action and adventure, plot twists and turns and lately Chandelle has thrown me and I don't have a clue where things are going to go so it's all a nice, bumpy, heartbreaking yet joyful and fun experience that takes you up to the inevitable hold your breath, waiting for the next book ending.
I love this world and any time I get to spend with these guys, I think Tegan and Tenn will always hold my heart. Though Saffie is growing and its great to see her more confident and take charge. I'm definitely developing a soft spot for Riah too.
Can't wait for the rest of this story and to see where this world goes next.
Chandelle has a knack for raising your blood pressure at the beginning of the book and toying with it throughout. As always, love the HP and LOTR references.
This book took me longer to read than the others. I had to keep taking " emotional maintenance" breaks. At one point I shouted " What the actual f*ck! Are you f*ck!n kiddin' me!", along with many other exclamations. I think I swore more during this book than any other of her books.
Chandelle is an evil genius the way she crafts a tale. One minute she's ripped my heart out, the next minute I'm laughing, and the next minute I'm saying "What in the total f*ck!"
I'm so happy I'm apart of her Chandwitches Facebook group so I can go get the emotional support I need until the next book comes out.
I’m glad the prelude addresses Gigi’s fate. Too bad she turned out to be such a twit. What’s up with Cassandra? We know she’s dead because her card mark transferred to Bentley. But now she’s back and seems to be corporeal and retaining psychic abilities. I’m so confused.
This book was an absolute shitshow and I mean that in the best positive way. Tons of stuff happened. New characters and magic abilities were revealed. People died or almost died. Storyline covered happenings both in Seelie and on earth. Children grew at an alarming rate. We definitely hates the Seelie King and Queen (Sorry - they use a lot of LOTR & HP references so I had to, too) New cards, Angels, demon possession, unexpected allies and the list goes on.
The next (final?) book won’t be out until July. Looks like it will be about another showdown with Lilith. Too bad they didn’t finish her off last time.
An epic adventure magic and good and evil all wrapped up in a spectacular urban fantasy novel Siri‘s
An epic urban fantasy adventure story. This for book series is part of a multi series universe a different periods of time in stages in this particular view of the world. Now standing cast of characters and an epic storyline. In this series you have witches warlocks fairies vampires werewolves dragons shifters angels demons gods and goddesses and the whole shebang. If you were thinking about but three then you are already familiar with a series and I do not need to tell you more. It is epic it is awesome and I cannot wait for the next book to come out. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
I felt like this book was throw together with so many ins/outs & twist and turns. Too much. If this was a movie it would have been a flash of light and nobody could see anything. The whole perv king part was unnecessary as Landy aged two years without the king..no need for Amelia and the perv. If you can skip a chapter then it should have been left out.. It added nothing The seelie queen did not kill Lily she transformed her so why did her mark go to another? Seems like the mark should have stayed on the vine?!. If Pauline was right there why couldn't she leave with them especially with princess Sage's help. The added characters out of the blue and Savannah/copper thing was unfounded! The whole thing felt rushed. I was not happy with this book
The biggest emotional roller coaster since The Secret Witch. So much happens in this book, you are on the edge of your seat from start to finish. I felt like I was there with the characters feeling their emotions, so much so, at one point I noticed my hands were literally shaking. There were other moments where I just had to stop just to get my emotions in check. This author is genius. She just keeps you riveted from beginning to end and then leaves you hungry for more. You will laugh, you will cry, and your mind will be blown by the crazy reveals that occur! 10 out of 10 definitely recommend!
Think of a plot that take you breath away. Now imagine a book that each chapter is a breathtaking plot…that is The Rotten Witch, which is not a surprise if you know Chandelle’s books. Delightful, delirious, fast-paced, full of surprises, emotional, awesome, fun, sad, and of course a cliffhanger ending. You will learn more about the Sellie world, which is wonderfully painted, meet new characters, disclose secrets, and fall deep in love all over again with all the members of The Coven and their partners. Do not waste time, dive into it and enjoy your time. By my side, I’m already anxious for the next one.
So much happens in this book, I hardly know how to begin a review. The basic character is Saffie. Okay, that starts it. She gets her memory back. All three hundred years of it. Back to Salem and her mother and the witch trials. She remembers being cursed by the Seelie and being totally alone. She discovers that Zachariah who she met in Salem as Riah has actually been with her as other friends for the entire time. He is in love with her and is her soulmate. That is almost enough for a book but not with this author or the coven. She is now the DEATH card.I won't ruin it, but between her friends and the spiris, let the good times roll!
Just like the other books in this series, I LOVE it! I love the way Chandelle writes up her characters, plots and adventures. This book it a bit of a longer read than the others, because it is basically the ending book to the series, at least that is what I gathered.
There is a lot of adventuring into the Seelie realm with Saffie and a few others in search of Riah and others that were "taken". But she doesn't dawdle on one character for too long and she always reminds you of where you left off with that character at the beginning of a new chapter about them.
Chandelle finishes off this series strong and I am excited to read her other series she has!
I was going to give this 3 stars since I was struggling to get into the book. Then things really started to happen and I didn’t want to stop reading. I particularly liked the story arc in Seelie. ALOT happened in this book. Unfortunately, I think there was too much going on, which took away from the story. As soon as I got into one story arc, I was yanked out and into another one. Also, if this were real, the Coven would all be a mess. They go from one emergency to another. I was exhausted just reading about it. I definitely want to know how things end, but I was frustrated with how many loose ends there are.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
WOW! Another fast paced, action- paced read. Chandelle Lavant knows how to deliver. The twists just keep on coming. You think you have it figured out and than, BAM! It changes. 600 years of planning the war to end all wars is close. Will The Coven defeat Lillith? I absolutely hope so, and can't wait to read the next book to find out. I love how the books all interweave with each other and eventually wind up in the same 'time period' to continue on from where we last read about it. These books really are on another level and I have not been able to put them down.
