Tales Of Mython #1

Salvation's Kiss

Rate this book
For Conrad, moving to Overton was the promise of a fresh start, a way to escape the pain and ridicule, and leave behind the hateful words that reminded him every day he was a monster.

He would not make the same mistake again. He would keep his other-self hidden, his heart shielded. Or that had been his intention. The moment his gaze met Ashley's, his resolve faltered. With a single, disarming glance, she became all he could think about; an infatuation he knew must be shed.

But she was human, incompatible with his kind. To love her would be to one day watch her burn.

He had thought wrestling with his heart was his biggest concern, but his new friends harbour a secret. They hold the answers to one of the most burning questions of their time. But how much is Conrad willing to sacrifice to get those answers?

Not really for me, I love paranormal romance too, but just couldn’t find myself involved in this, couldn’t empathise with the characters or find myself caring or interested in the plot. There was so much unimportant mentioned, never to be mentioned again including characters, overall chaotic and just not for me.

Okay well it's taken me awhile to write the review because I didn't really know what to say. I liked the college and the way the groups formed. The characters were interesting and the story line had unique parts. I like all the technology and the classes they were taking sounded interesting. I liked the fact that it wasn't instant love and that Conrad did fight his feelings.

Salvation’s Kiss by Kathryn Jayne

So to be truthfully honest I hated this book for the longest, but right when it started getting good and not bouncing around it was great! This book was all over the place. So many characters was just thrown in there and never mentioned again. The fact that it never mention them again or let the readers know what happen to them was horrible! I loved the two main characters and her friends! I hope there is more to this story even if it’s just to tie up all the lose ends!

Magic and technology is already one of my favorite combinations, but this book is truly binge-worthy! I’m so mad I have to wait to find out what happens next ><

Jayne has done an amazing job balancing her world, rich characters, and unique plotline into one fast and furious story. Taking place in a future where the preternatural world has merged with technology, Ashley is a ‘human’ who lives to help those around her. Her group of friends is diverse and loyal. It was fun to learn about each of them, piece by piece. I really enjoyed the shades of grey presented in William’s character; I am still soo conflicted over his choices.

Something I also enjoyed was a broader spectrum of ‘supernatural’ beings. At the moment so much urban fantasy is all the standards. Vampires, werewolves, ect… While using a few of the standards, Jayne also dives into magical lore to bring us something more unique. Adding some fire to back and forth between the internally conflicted Conrad and the object of his untouchable affections, Ashley.

I can’t wait to read the next one!

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I love paranormal romance it is my genre of choice. I have always been a lover of vampire stories. I love the main two characters and those closest to them, but there were a lot of other characters that came in all but vanished. It bothered me that I did not know what happened to them. I know there are more books in the series, but I am sure it follows others couples so might figure out what happened to them. It was a good book over all. I just thing the cast should have been cut back a little. It did have good pacing and I love how they interacted and secrets that they had. It made me care about them and what happened to them.

Paranormal love story

I found this book so edgy with it's gritty paranormal story. The characters built up such an intense story line, I couldn't wait to see where it was taking me. I thought Congrad was from such an interesting species, he is torn between what they stood for and his love for Ashley. Very well written, with plenty still to discover. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

The whimsical, otherworldly background was set perfectly in the opening of this book, this story had some refreshing & unexpected twists on the paranormal genre that held me gripped from the first chapter. With strong characters and a well written narrative I will most definitely be picking up book two in this series. Great Read.

A combination of sweet romance and gritty paranormal. I loved the world building, the inclusion of mythical species often overlooked in such plots. I was really moved by the characters and the tense plot. Secrets, insecurities, danger, and betrayal are wrapped in an engaging and entertaining package. I will certainly be looking out for the next book in the series. I can't wait.

I was lured in by the blurb to read this one. The plot was truly interesting, despite the slow start. There is a whole lot packed into the beginning of the story which eventually settles down. By the end I was fully invested and am now awaiting the next book to find out what happens.

I received a free copy via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

This was a wonderful romance with strong Fantasy characters.

The Fantasy world was well built and moulded well with the world we now live in.

A little bit of everything gave this a good feeling.

I found this book a real page turner, an easy read and perfect for Autumn as the nights get darker and reading about monsters seems appropriate. Definitely going to be reading the next in the series.

Wow - what a unique story! After reading about a hundred vampire/shifter paranormal romances, it was like a breath of fresh air to read a story involving such an unusual world.

This is Ashley's story. She's living pretty much on her own while her adopted brother is serving in the paranormal forces. This world is separate from your typical world and paranormals are out in this one. There's all manner of powers and paranormal persuasions, but even with all these options, Ashley is still unique. After losing her mom at a young age, she's known she was special, but she definitely finds out just how special in this book.

Conrad is a bit hurt when we meet him. He is recovering from a horrible breakup after revealing his true paranormal nature to his now ex-girlfriend. The last thing he expects or wants when moving to a new school is to jump into another relationship. Ashely and Conrad's attraction, however, is something that can't be denied. It is made all the more apparent after Ashley gets into a bit of trouble on her own and Conrad's other half is called into action.

I really enjoyed the rich world that the author introduced us to in this first installment. All the characters had their own story to tell and even the "bad" ones made me feel a little sympathetic towards them. Don't get me wrong - there are some really bad characters here that deserve to be hated, but the school crew all seems redeemable in some way or another. I can't wait to see where we head now that Ashley and Conrad can enter a new phase in their relationship.

I love supernatural romances, but I just could not get into this one. I'm not entirely sure what was going on aside from the girl randomly kiss guys & passing out and the obsessed guy who could heal. There wasn't much of a storyline. And the POV constantly changes between a multitude of characters, making it that much harder to follow what was going on. Further complicating the plot was the lack of world building. There were vague mentions of a virus/sickness, vampires, and factions of supernatural beings, but not much else. Everything seemed to hing on having prior knowledge, so I'm not sure if this is part of some sort of series or not. Overall, I only managed to get about a quarter of the way though the book before I gave up.

I received an ARC copy of #SalvationsKiss from #NetGalley for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the eArc in exchange for an honest review.

Firstly, I'm really glad I finished this book and it was really heartwarming (no pun intended) and I really felt for Ashley and Conrad.

However, the constant changing of POV's was frustrating at some points because I wasn't sure who's POV I was reading. I'm still not 100% sure of a particular character but I can only assume I'll see them in the next book.

In addition, I couldn't really picture Conrad without thinking of a certain creature from the Final Fantasy series but I think this helped me more.

I would love to read more from this author in future.
