Jet the Cat is actually a cat (it's in her name, come on), but she likes to jump into water, which isn't traditional cat behaviour, so Tom, another cat, tells Jet she can't be a cat, that she must be a frog. (Who made Tom the authority on all things cat is what I want to know, but nevermind.)
"Huh" says Jet, and starts exploring what it is to be a frog. Then a frog tells her she can't be a frog, but she must be a bird.
And so on. I'm sure you've noticed the pattern emerging here.

Jet the Cat is my new favorite cat! Or not... This story is such a delight to read! It's funny, charming, and a bit witty with a hint of sarcasm thrown in. I can see it being a "please read it again" book, in the daytime reading circle or at the bedside at night. Jet the Cat is just like other cats, that is until you look at all the other traits that make her uniquely her. She is told she is something else, so she thinks she is something else and tries to fit in, but of course, she can’t! JET THE CAT (IS NOT A CAT ) is a humorous yet meaningful read about acceptance and the power of being YOU! Jet just wants to be a cat but everyone else has something to say about it. This lovely story will empower children to not let others tell them who they can and can't be and does so in a way that does not feel didactic. This is an inspirational story about Jet, who just wants to be a cat while the other animals try to convince her that she is a frog, bird, or even a goat. Jet initially becomes confused about her identity but in the end she learns to embrace herself for who she is, a truly unique CAT! The engaging text, bright illustrations, and an important message makes this book a delightful read-aloud and a must-have for all children!
I love, love, love it. I love how Jet the Cat goes around being convinced he is not a cat. The repetition and illustrations will make children and adults giggle. How funny and sweet! And in the end Jet, the Cat will discover the truth, a truth we all hide inside. Read it to your children to make them laugh and think. Are we all the same or does each one of us have a little bit of Jet, the Cat? I LOVE IT!!!
Whether Jet is a cat or some other creature, I am a big fan. Children will love the fun, colorful illustrations and all the humorous reasons that Jet is not a cat or a frog or a bird or a goat. The repeating refrains build anticipation and the reader can't wait to guess what Jet is or isn't on the next spread. Children will enjoy having this book read aloud to them or just looking through the lively illustrations on their own.

I loved reading this inspirational story about embracing yourself and everything that makes you unique. This book has such a powerful message—delivered perfectly for the picture book audience. The illustrations are as unique as Jet and they’re just so pretty that you want to flip through the book again and again to see them. This book would make a great gift for any cat lover too.
In this adorable book, Jet the cat likes to swim and has to put up with all the judgments about what cats should and shouldn't be and is told by his friends that he is not a cat! This picture book is hilarious! It explores the themes of belonging, identity, and self-acceptance in a funny and heartfelt way featuring cats, goats, birds, toads, and other critters. Kids will love reading this cumulative picture book that gets funnier with each page turn!

Guaranteed to make kids giggle! I loved watching Jet's journey to self-acceptance as the other animals told her she certainly couldn't be a cat if she liked activities cats most certainly hated, like swimming. In the end (spoiler!), all the animals realized it was okay if they were a little different from other animals like them. The illustrations are gorgeous and silly at the same time!

Jet the cat…might or might not be a cat. It's hard to tell what she really is, because the animals observing her can't make up their minds! In this amusing story, kids will love reading about Jet's day fielding different opinions and how this good-natured cat-or-not tries on labels till she figures it all out. And yes, the joyful and beautifully textured illustrations of the bright-eyed animals are totally adorable. Conclusion: Jet the Cat (is a really cute book with a cute ending)!
