I want nothing to do with this job, but I can’t get out of it.
My life is a violent existence hinged on loyalty to the oath I took: Devil Kings MC before all else. I’m the club’s muscle, the brother they give the vicious, vile jobs, the dirty deeds.
Then I see Kara, all sweet and innocent with her soulful eyes and sexy body. She’s a bright light in my dark existence. In her eyes, I see an escape from the brutal life I’ve lived for so long.
What do I do when my VP wants her taken as leverage to use against her father, the court judge who holds the power to sentence our President to decades in prison? What do I do if they want me to put a gun to her head and end her life? I’ll have to convince her to trust me if I have any hope of getting us both out of this alive.
Kara—
He’s the only one who can save me.
I’m not supposed to want a man like Reno. He’s dangerous—a lawless, badass, alpha biker. I know I should be afraid, but the way he looks at me, with hunger in his eyes makes me want to become his.
I believed the lies he told me. I thought he was a good guy. But when he takes me hostage, everything I thought about him is turned on its head. How can I trust a man whose loyalty is to his club, a club that wants me dead?
Nicole James is a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author who loves writing about hot alpha men who'll do anything for the women they love! Her stories are filled with struggle, conflict and real human emotion. She is the author of the Evil Dead MC series, the Brothers Ink Tattoo series and more.
Meh, a lot of things didn’t make sense. Plus the romance was as believable as an alien invasion happening in the next hour. Kara was immature and shallow and Dante.. I don’t know what he was, just not my cup of tea. Half of the time I still wasn’t sure whether he’ll stand by and watch her get murdered.
If this were real life and not a book where an HEA is guaranteed, I would give them a couple weeks.
The action/ club drama was .. meh again. (I’ve developed a fondness for that word, it’s so short but says so much). It just wasn’t believable.
I’ll probably read the next one tho, just cause I’m curious about Rusty.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I must confess the cover of Dirty Deeds by Nicole James influenced my decision in choosing to read/listen to the book. I don’t read a lot of romances set in the motorcycle club world, but those I read I enjoyed and the premise for this one sounded promising.
Dante aka Reno is a member of the Devil Kings MC and the one responsible for carrying out the grunt work for the club. His latest assignment required him to kidnap college Kara, the daughter of a judge. The plan, use her as leverage to coerce the judge in dropping the drug possession charges against their president. Captivated by her photo, Reno followed her until the opportunity came for him to connect with her leading to a night of passion. To say this created a complication would be an understatement. He must do the job no matter what.
While reading, I learnt this was a spin-off of another series which portrayed him as a bad person. In Dirty Deeds, the reader witnessed his growth and discovered that beneath the bad boy exterior lay a heart of gold. I had mixed feelings regarding Kara. Sections of the story portrayed her as an intelligent, strong and determined woman with a fighting spirit. Then there were the parts where her whiny actions irritated me.
The story moved at an even pace and kept me entertained from start to finish. If you love your romance with lots of heat, then you won’t go wrong with this one. Passionate, hot and steamy, three words which define the relationship between Kara and Reno. The reader of the power struggle plaguing the Devil Kings, which made for some intense moments.
Narration Ryan West and Virginia Rose narrated, who are both new to me. I enjoyed the duet narration. It was my first time experiencing a narration where both narrators did all the voices relating to their gender throughout the story. They both enhanced the listening pleasure
Conclusion/Recommendation Overall, I had some enjoyable moments with this title. I recommend Dirty Deeds to fans of the genre.
It has been such a long time that I've rated a book a 5 star! I have been anticipating Reno's story since Shades story! Which was a very long time ago. I honestly didn't think Reno would ever get his own story because I thought other people may have thought his character was too unlikeable, or not redeemable! Boy oh boyyyy am I happy that I was wrong!
To start with, to get the full experience to all that is Reno, you should check out Nicole James', Evil Dead MC series. It is uhhhhmazing! Can you tell I love this book??
Reno is part of the Devil Kings MC. This not the family friendly club, like the Evil Dead MC. The Devil Kings are more on the rougher, dirtier side. Reno is pretty much the muscle of the club, and the go-to guy that does the shady stuff for the club. Reno gets a job from his VP, he has to keep an eye on Kara, whose father is a court judge who just happens to be in charge of the criminal case of the Devil Kings MC President.
Reno does not want this job. He knows what the outcome will be. But, once he sees Kara, he just can't help himself. Reno is enthralled by her beauty, captivated by her smile.. I mean I swear, this guy has the mind of a fucking poet.
I.
LOVE.
RENO!
He was everything I hoped he'd be.
I love how he was with Kara, and vice versa. Reno deserved someone amazing, and my standards were pretty high! Kara exceeded all my expectations. I was proud!
Enough of my swoon worthiness..
except maybe a little more?
Reno's terms of endearments for Kara... ermagherd.
Loved. Them. All...
They all gave me little butterflies!!
Baby Doll
Wild Cat
Baby
Beautiful
Honey
Sweetheart
&& moooore
and then... those sexaaaay scenes..
whew.. pardon me while I fan myself because someone cranked up the heat..
Okay. I'm done. For now.
Rusty?? OMG. His book is next.. I can't wait.. I've been waiting for his book just as long as I've been waiting for Reno's.. Yes, I am aware of my greediness at the moment!
I am so happy that this book took the direction that it did. I am ecstatic to see more of these Devil Kings boys! I am intrigued by some of the characters that were introduced..
I seriously am so excited!
I am seriously fan-girling at the moment.
Sorry not sorry.
Are we back to obsessing over Reno?
Because...
"You have the prettiest damn eyes."
"I liked seeing your smile again. I missed it."
If she only knew how much I wanted to keep her safe.
"I'm sorry. We men are wretched creatures."
"Oh, sweetheart, you're already breakin' my heart. I can feel it."
I don't want to give too much away, but damn. Just damn..
Good read. Kept me wondering how it was going to end. It seemed like it wasn’t going to end well. Great hot sex! The chemistry was hot. It did gloss over some areas and it was like a black screen and the everything was fixed. Good start to the series. Will check out the next.
Devil Kings MC has been mentioned before in Nicole’s earlier Evil Dead MC series. I’m not a huge fan of very young characters, but Kara turns out to be a pretty solid chick, and Reno, the Devil Kings’ VP, is hot as hell. The two of them together seem to work as he protects Kara from some bad club members who have it out for her father—a judge.
What I think I love most about this book was how the Evil Dead MC’s Birmingham, Alabama, chapter is heavily involved in the storyline. Alabama chapter meaning Ghost, Hammer, and SHADES!! Shades is a complete alpha badass in this one, making me wish he could someday become the president of that chapter.
All in all, it was a really good start for this new series. And c’mon ... that cover!! Hot damn!
I haven't read many motorcycle club books, but this one sounded interesting so I went for it and enjoyed it for the most part.
I liked the characters. Reno (who's first name is Dante, like my son which threw me for a minute) is better than the person his MC has cast him as and I feel like the book was about him growing into that person/recognizing his potential. Kara sees that person and instantly falls for him, only to be betrayed and question if she saw the real Reno. I enjoyed the hot and steamy of their relationship along with the conflict and watching them grow together.
The plot was a little iffy for me. On one hand, it didn't feel exactly like Stockholm Syndrome since Reno and Kara formed a connection before the kidnapping. But the way things play out and wrap up did require suspension of belief, just a little. It's a contemporary romance and you know you've gotta get your HEA, right? Even when it's a little less than plausible?
The narration was fantastic. It was two narrators - Ryan West and Virginia Rose. This was my favorite style of dual narration where Virginia did all the female voices, even in the chapters where Reno/Ryan was the main voice and vice versa. Both are new-to-me narrators, although I could have sworn I knew Virginia Rose's voice. Perhaps she goes by another name? But anyway, definitely recommend this narration pair.
Hero and heroine sleep with one another first night they meet in a closet at a bar. I don’t usually enjoy when characters have just met and have sex, not my thing. Worse shes okay with no protection because he promises hes clean.. hmm kay.
This is VERY random but it annoyed me. Heroine wears Hero’s friends shirt even after shes given clothes to wear. I know its stupid that stood out me to but it really did LOL why would she want to wear another mans shirt and why would Hero be okay with it?!?!
That one was a lot better than the evil dead recent stories. It had a good story, some intrigue, a bit of K&R, treachery, double crossing etc. good times! I liked how the hero was all badass but ultimately a little insecure. The heroine was a likable mess a little TSTL bit lovable anyway. I liked Rusty in this one and although he was mentioned a few times in the Evil dead series I still don’t really know his story. There could have been a scene with her dad and the hero. We could have seen what befell Rat rather than be told. Don’t really understand what happened to the two other MC members, the ex President and Rusty’s latest prospect. I think I’ll read on in case more related matters are revealed.🙃
Kara and Reno...yum yum yum! I really enjoyed this new series and new MC from the author of the Evil Dead MC series...one of my favorites. A biker, the muscle of the club, was tasked with kidnapping the daughter of the judge that the club needed to swing a case in their favor...but nothing goes the way he planned and hearts and emotions get in the way. There was a lot of the usual violence and betrayals, but a ton of passion and steamy romance. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more!
***** 5 ***** "love is a powerful persuader" stars
I went back and forth between reading and listening to this one. I liked the dual narration, but I didn't care for the male voice. I kept giggling while listening to him. And this really wasn't a giggling story. So, the story itself was ok. Lots of action. But, the insta-love was instant and almost unbelievable due to the whole kidnapping thing.
This book was packed with all my favorite MC things. It had action, deception, drama, violence, sexiness, romance and an unlikely couple that found each other in unusual circumstances... win, win, win.
I am obsessed with Dirty Deeds! With Reno. With Rusty. Even with the nameless prospect. Lol. But ugggh.. I loved reading every page of it! ❤❤❤
I’m sure like many other Evil Dead MC fan, we had very strong feelings about the Devil Kings MC. They’re rivals clubs and every time they appeared in one of the books (especially in Shades), there was no love lost with them 😅
Well guys.. this book changes everything! You’re initial opinion of them (or at least some of them) will be thrown out the window the second you start reading Dirty Deeds. I don’t how else to describe this book other than a perfect read. It was just the story I needed to get out of my latest reading slump. But not only that– it was just the story that I’m always in the lookout for. It has all these elements I love in romance books all wrapped up in one and executed brilliantly, mind you! It was well developed, with the world-building expanding from the Evil Dead MC without leaving the reader who hasn’t read that series feel like they’ve missed the atmosphere and characteristics of an MC world.
Although these characters were first introduced in the Evil Dead MC, we don’t get their perspectives or their true opinions on anything really until now. The character development in my opinion is a big selling point in turning what was once the “bad guys” in the eyes of the Evil Dead (and Evil Dead fans), into the heroes in this scenario. The moral dilemma that Reno goes through here is what makes his character more than meets the eye. You really get an insight to their club life, the hierarchy and what the brothers jobs are within this club. (And if you have already read the Evil Dead MC, then you will also see the different contrasts between the two clubs).
There’s obvious dynamics in the Devil Kings. Which I think is what I enjoy about Nicole James’ MC books. There’s an array of characters with different personalities and attitudes that you’re bound to fall for some.. and glare at others. Hehe. But one thing you can always count on is the interactions these guys have. They’re written in so amazingly with their witty banter, brotherhood, and mischief-making that even without the romance, you’re still going to get an satisfying read!
But let’s be honest — we’re here for the romance…and the romance did not disappoint! This was a lust-at-first-sight turned hate-to-love, with a stereotypical bad boy/ good girl love story.
Reno wasn’t someone I saw having his own book. Well, actually I didn’t see the Devil Kings MC having their own series but damn… now I’m eager for more! I’m excited to see more of him in future books and seeing how he’s going.
Did I mention how much I love the cover and think the model is perfect match to Reno? No? Well, he is — and I was picturing him the entire time I was reading this.
With a character like Reno (and even Rusty), it’s hard to hate him or his actions for very long because he’s one of those morally grey characters that has limits to what his willing and not willing to do, despite the fact that he’s part of an MC that lacks in the morality department. What works about him and this book as a whole is the lengths he goes through to change things in his life. You witness how he’s character goes from someone who takes orders, to someone questioning it and wanting to make up his own decisions. Kara was just the person who helps him wake up, if you will.
If you’re looking for an MC romance with equal amounts of MC and romance, then give this one a go. Dirty Deeds is a kidnapping-turned-lovers romance with possessive yet protective alphas and lighthearted banter throughout. It’ll make you swoon, smile and all the ooey-gooey goodness that comes with a winning romance book. It’s a greatly paced storyline with something always going on. If anything I wished it was longer. 😅
It’s total delectable escapism. An enjoyable read with enough thrill and suspense with so many “oh shiiiit” moments that it’ll have you holding your breath at times.
If you like alphas in your reads who are possessive and protective, but has a big teddy bear side to them — then this is another book you need to get to! Nicole James has perfected MC romances in my opinion and she knows what’s going to get her readers’ panties melting.
I don’t know whether it’s because I’ve been dying for a new book from Nicole James for a while now, or that I’ve been craving an MC romance read, or that it’s a case of being cooped up indoors for weeks now that I’m no longer in the right frame of mind, or maybe it’s all of the above.. but I really, truly loved Dirty Deeds and couldn’t fault any of it.. (and if there was anything I wasn’t completely a fan of, my overall love of the book clearly trumped it!) 😄
Highly recommended read. This one’s not to be missed for any fellow MC romance lovers! A great start to a new series by James. Looking forward to the next one! 😄
Reno and Kara are phenomenal together! When Reno is directed by the VP of the Devil Kings to grab a judges daughter he is pissed for a variety of reasons. Tired of being the guy commanded to do the grunt work, Reno notices first thing how pretty the girl he's supposed to grab is. What he could not have known is how explosive their first time together would be, and how quickly he would fall in love with her.
Kara could never have imagined that the guy she fell head over heels for in an instant, Dante, would be back to kidnap her days later at the behest of his club. She figures that all the words and super hot sex were b.s. designed to make her more comfortable with him so she wouldn't fight him later, but she could never have imagined what the Devil Kings have planned for her, or that Reno and Rusty would eventually come to their own decisions.
An excellent new MC Romance, Nicole James delivers a constant rollercoaster ride of action from the first page to the last, effortlessly blending the new MC with the Evil Dead series and building on it.i can't wait to see what happens next!
There was just something missing from it, I didn't feel the passion between them, the characterisation was superficial and poor.
I'm trying to analyse how I feel about this book and I'd say my primary feeling is kne if dissatisfaction. It just doesn't hit it quite right in every aspect.
Not gonna read any more in the series, I just don't like the authors writing style in this book.
The audiobook presentation was absolutely perfect!
I was offered an audiobook copy of Dirty Deeds by Nicole James. I usually avoid Motorcycle Club stories since the characters are more violent than I usually enjoy. From the description, I hoped that Reno would be more like the overprotection heroes that we see in the military/black op type romances, but I was sadly wrong. I am going to try to review the story on its merits without my usual prejudices toward this type of story.
Let's start out by discussing the wonderful audiobook presentation of this story. Ryan West gave voice to Reno and he was a wonderful choice. His gruff voice and demeanor gave me the perfect picture of Reno, the biker enforcer. Virginia Rose was also was great choice for the young college student, Cara. Both allowed me to get a good picture of the characters, and presumably it West who voiced the rest of the bikers in both the Devil Kings MC and the Evil Dead MC (who are featured in another series by James). Generally when a book is narrated that it in dual POV, the male narrator gives voice to all the characters in his chapter and the female gives voice to all the characters in her chapter. I always find this distracting because it is one of those things that jerks me out of a story. If you have one narrator doing all the voices, then you get used to all the characters even if their characters of the opposite sex aren't quite right. You do get used to it and follow along, but when they start switching off, especially when giving a different voice to a secondary character it is very distracting. It's worse if one gets the character perfect then it makes the other narrator that much worse in trying. In Dirty Deeds, while the narrators switched off on the chapter narration, Virginia Rose kept jumping in voicing anything spoken by Cara or any of the female secondary characters, and Ryan West would jump in and voice comments by Reno or the other bikers. This type of presentation allowed you to really immerse yourself into the narration. I have found very few audiobooks presented this way when more than one narrator being used and it is a shame since it really is a better presentation. While Nicole James has several series out, this appears to be the first book presented in audiobook version. I would give five stars for the audiobook presentation alone.
As I indicated before, Motorcycle Club series are usually the type of book I automatically pass on but the description on this one made me think that Reno would protect Cara, maybe even abducting her from her abductors and keeping her hidden and safe. Well, not so much.
In Dirty Deeds, the President of the Devil Kings has been arrested and is facing Federal charges. He could be facing 30 years in prison. The VP of the club, Rat, comes up with the plan to abduct the Judge's daughter who is attending college at the University of Alabama and hold her hostage until the Judge lets their President go with no prison time. Because the Devil Kings are in located in Georgia, they need to get permission to cross over into the Evil Dead MC territory, which is how the cross-over comes in between the series.
When Reno first goes to the Evil Dead clubhouse, he is amazed that there are families having a picnic at the headquarters and kids are running around and laughing. It appears they have none of this type of interaction at the Devil Kings MC and their dilapidated warehouse clubhouse. So there immediately is some foreshadowing that Reno wants and expected joining a MC to be like what was happening at the Evil Dead MC. I had hope that this discontentment would by the end, lead to either Reno running to the Evil Dead with Cara for protection or eventually get his own club cleaned up so that it becomes a real family.
When Reno first sees a picture of Cara, he reminds her of girl he liked in high school who flirted with him but then walked away to be with the quarterback of the football team. This goes to show you that no matter who you are, shit that happens to you in High School screws you up forever! This starts Reno on a bit of an obsession with Cara which leads to him following her to a bar while they are still staking her out and buying her a drink and convincing her to stay around after her friends leave the bar. Her sucky friends allow her to stay alone at a bar late at night without making sure she gets home safely but in this case, after quick closet sex with Reno, he at least makes sure she gets home safely. This part of Reno's stalking and meeting Cara ahead of time and their attraction is the only that keeps me from being completely against their relationship at the end of the book but we'll come back to this.
Except for the sex, nothing is going right for Reno during this entire job. When Reno and his friend Rusty finally get the call the grab the girl, the RV they were going to hold her in breaks down and they have to go for Plan B. Reno keeps telling Cara that he won't harm her and that she should stop giving them a hard time, and in Reno's mind, he will protect her as much as he can but he knows that the order will probably come down to kill her. Cara is a little naïve but she's not a complete idiot. She knows that she has seen their faces. Reno introduced himself to her by his given name and once the connection is made between the biker gang and Reno, the police would have no problem finding her abductors. Cara knows she isn't getting out of there alive and tries to escape. It was a little ridiculous for him to keep insisting that she calm down and getting angry when she fights back.
Of course with most court actions, things get delayed and what should have lasted days, has lasted for weeks. This allows abductors and abductees to get to know one another and they settle into a routine waiting for the next course of action. Then they find out that Rat has made a new deal with the Judge. If he wants to see his daughter again, he needs to make sure their President is sentenced to maximum time. It seems that Rat is very happed being the ad hoc President and has no interest in turning the gavel back over. Now Rusty and Reno have a choice to make between their MC and the young girl they have come to know.
This was still a little too violent for me. While there was no rape, there were several scenes that fell just short. Reno swears to protect Cara, but then Rat and some other club members stop by and send Reno and Rusty off to do an errand, one that Reno can't turn down for his "boss." This leaves Cara alone with five club members and the only thing that saved her was the fact that they were getting stoned and drinking before they started tormenting her and getting "excited" about her fear. If they decided to start their fun right away, Reno and Rusty wouldn't have made it back in time to stop it and I was even surprised that they didn't continue regardless since Reno and Rusty were lower in the chain of command. He promised to protected her and then he had to back down at the first push by a higher authority.
There was also an huge age difference between Cara's 20 and Reno's 31 and even more in a level of maturity since Reno's 31 years were harder lived. Cara's father's house is an estate behind gates with a housekeeper. That level of rich. We knew that Reno's interest in Cara was piqued when he saw her picture. We also know that before the abduction, Cara hoped to hear from Reno again because he was nothing like the boys she has met before (no kidding!). I began to feel that the more Cara protested that she loved Reno, the younger and sillier she sounded. If not for the night in the bar at the beginning of this story, I would not have been able to get passed the feeling that Cara was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. All those weeks were Reno was sleep spooned up next Cara and their long talks could easily confuse a young girl who was already questioning what she wanted to do with her life. I also can't see her rich Federal Judge father going along with his only child running off with the violent biker who abducted her without having her tossed into a psyche ward for deprogramming (again; Stockholm Syndrome). She also goes from little rich girl to biker chick with a hitch.
While the story did hold my attention to the point that it gave me moments of anxiety, I found it hard to root for Cara and Reno's HEA as we neared the end and Cara started to seem less mature while pleading to stay by Reno's side.
I don't plan to read any other stories in the series but that goes back to my general MC dislike but some of the characters from the prior series were kind of interesting and if MC stories are on your list of favorites, you might want to look at Nicole James's Evil Dead MC series.
🌼🔥GIVE ME RENO...PLEASE♥️🌼🔥 When it’s written well, there’s nothing better than a super-hot, tough, all-alpha 1% biker and an innocent young woman who fall in love against all odds...and DIRTY DEEDS is written very well...Nicole James has started another good MC series for us, and if this book is any indication, Devil King’s MC is going to be as good as or better than her Evil Dead MC....and we all love that series...♥️🌼🔥 So, the Devil Kings are a 1% MC, and they are known for death and destruction...They have been enemies of our favorite, EDMC,so that doesn’t speak well for them...but we can’t paint them all with the same brush....any club is only as good as it’s leadership...and right now...DKMC has none...♥️🌼🔥 Reno (Dante DeLuca)has been with DKMC for about 10 years...he’s had to do lots of stuff he didn’t like...but when Reno’s president is in jail awaiting sentencing for a lengthy prison stay, their little weasel of a VP, Rat, forces Reno and his brother, Rusty, to kidnap Kara, the judge’s daughter....Against his better judgement, that’s what Reno does.....When Rat double crosses the club, Rusty and Reno decide its time to eliminate Rat and clean up the club...but that’s easier said than done...♥️🌼🔥 Young, pretty, college coed, Kara Harbinger is innocent and has lived a privileged life, but she’s so not where she wants to be in her life....She meets Dante at a bar and they have a one night stand that all of us know clearly wasn’t just that.....And somewhere along the way, Reno falls in love with Kara...and, becomes both her captor and her protector....♥️🌼🔥 And, I, seriously, have no choice, but to comment on the cover for DIRTY DEEDS....it was no hardship to picture Theo as Reno...I loved this book....Nicole James is one of the queens of MCs....I’m more than ready for book 2.....♥️🌼🔥
This just may be a series that I want exclusively in audiobook form. We have two voice actors that suck me into what is going on and I didn’t want to let go. It was frustrating when I had to stop because there was never any perfect spot. As I got toward the ending, I got nervous that there won’t won’t be any more audio versions. It will be tough but I will switch over to the book version if I have to.
Mr. West and Ms. Rose do a great job in expressing the emotion, which includes fear and frustration, as well as the heat our characters are experiencing. They also made it very easy to imagine what the characters might look like. One thing I liked about this pair is that they were very easy to listen to. With a book, it’s not hard to close and walk away to be picked up at a future point in time. With an audiobook, you can take them everywhere you go.
Another thing that’s good about voice actors is you focus on who they are portraying – like a movie you can’t see. You won’t want to tune them out because you’ll want to know what Reno and Kara are talking about and what trouble they’re trying to get out of. They help me get to know who these characters are. They also help me understand what’s going on with the world around them.
I finished the book with at least three sure things. The first would be that I plan to check out more works narrated by Mr. West and Ms. Rose. They compliment each other so I hope to find more duets but I’ll happily check out anything they’ve worked on. The second thing is following this series because I have to see who else in this MC that I’m going to learn about. Plus I’d like to see if Reno and Kara make an appearance as the series develops. The third thing is our author. I’ve only read/listened to a few of her books but I look forward to adding more to my library.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Very enjoyable MC read. The characters were very well defined to the point I felt like I knew them. As for the storyline, it was well written and flowed - it was like watching the storyline unfold right before my eyes. The books had lots of MC action and suspense and of course romance.
This is the first book to a new series and it gave us a bit of backstory to the club as well as just the main characters, a fact I thoroughly enjoyed as it gave me a look into what’s to come. The club is in a bit of turmoil with their Prez in prison and the acting Prez seems to be leading them in a bad direction. Reno, the lead in this story, isn’t happy with the way things are going down but he’s true to the club and his brothers. But when they ask him to kidnap a young girl (Kara) for leverage against her father (the Judge overseeing Prez's trial) Reno sees the writing on the wall. He knows the acting Prez is going to order him to kill her in the end. Don’t get me wrong, Reno is no saint, but he draws the line at killing innocents. The more Reno gets to know Kara, the stronger his feelings grow along with the need to protect her. Can he figure out a way to keep her alive or will he carry out his brother’s orders?
I see this being a very popular series and one this reader is looking forward to. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars for Dirty Deeds, #1 of the Devil Kings MC.
Loved it! The audiobook was 8hrs 15mins. Ryan West & Virginia Rose narrated, and did an awesome job!
I loved that there was no lie that that took away from the story. I try to avoid those types of books.
I loved that there was no feminist BS. It takes away from the escape I’m seek when diving into a book to hear some woman bitch because her man wants to spoil her.
I loved that he didn’t have some sort of attack of his conscience where he “let her go because she’s too good for him and deserves better”. Which I don’t even believe in... that’s not even realistic! where are the men that have actually done that??? I have read that crap so many times it makes me furious now when I read it.. But I guess when you read as much smut as I do, my expectations shouldn’t be so high...but damn... thats all I’m gonna say about that.
I did enjoy this book. I didn’t at any point feel like the book was dragging on. Maybe I liked it so much because it didn’t include any of my pet peeves. I rarely write reviews but since I was so happy I decided to rave!!
I say bring on the caveman-bad boy-criminal even, that loves me and wants to protect and spoil me. There’s no shame it that. It’s shameful to get mad and bitch about it.
I was pulled into this book right from the get go, which is where I stayed until I had read every single word that was written all the while I had it playing out in my head like a little mini movie. There are twists, turns and surprises through out this book. Some of the surprises you may see coming and others you might not, some of the surprises are large, while others are small, but each and everyone has equal importance in the book and help to make the book the fantastic read that it is. I went on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster ride with this book, I did cry, so if you are anything like me you might want to have your tissues available to be on the safe side. Each and every emotion that the characters go through can be felt and some will even pull on your heart strings. I went through the emotions with the characters. For me personally if I go through what the characters are going through, I usually enjoy the book better. There was a time or two I wanted to reach into the book and smack a couple of the characters, but they redeemed themselves. I loved every single word that was written about this book. I highly recommend this book, this series and this author. This book is also available on audible and the narrators are awesome, I enjoyed reading and listening to it.
DNF - quit at 18%. To start with, I felt like I was missing a previous book or something, or that this was split from another series. I didn’t care enough to look into that though. There were some plot hiccups to the story that pulled me out of the book pretty quickly. But when the FMC goes into a bar supply closet with the MMC who she just met at the bar after a short conversation & 1 dance, & has she no self preservation instincts to make her concerned for her own safety, but only excited her -that he’s pawing her all over & leaving a hickey on her neck (& in a supply closet! Yuck), it just turned my stomach. She’s just TSTL! In today’s world, she should have more caution to her surroundings & people she interacts with. She was in her teens when her mom died, she should have learned about “stranger danger” at least!
At my age (approaching 60), life is way to short & my time is to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
While I have always enjoyed this author's other series, this premise gave me pause, and it took me 3-4 tries before getting into to book enough to read it to the end. Didn't really remember Reno from "Shades" book so wasn't really aware he was supposed to be a real SOB, until the end and Skylar came into the picture. Reno and Kara both seem to be at a crossroads in their lives when they meet. And while their closet scene was very hot, it was hard to really see them together after Kara is kidnapped. The Reno switch had been turned and Dante seemed to just "poof". He still seemed pretty milk toast throughout the book to me. The book centered mostly on the interaction between the two H/h, and not much on the MC life. Not a lot of comradery going on with the "Devil Kings", and some scenes seemed forced and not really very realistic. But like I said, once I was finally able to step into the book, I was able to finish it. All in all, I still think it worth the time and $$. I read this via Kindle Unlimited
I Love everything that Nicole James writes. I am obsessed with her books but this one just didn’t sit right with me. They had a few scenes with The Evil Dead and I know how each club hates the others but Ghost and Shades and Hammer etc didn’t sit right with me. As Ghost is one of my favs what and how he treats the Kara left me reeling. And when Skylar questions Kara’s feelings for Reno. What gives? Skylar might have had bad experiences but to completely dismiss Kara made me so angry and resentful at Skylar. Ok got that off my chest. I loved this book. I loved everything about it. But the last bit seemed a bit rushed. We don’t know if or how Rat dies. We just have to trust Reno when he tells Kara that he is gone. But where was Reno’s version of what happened. We had Kara’s perspective and a conversation between her and Reno and BAM. The Epilogue happens. This book has left me with more questions than I started the book with. If that was Nicole’s goal than she succeeded.

Dirty Deeds by Nicole James is the first book in the series called Devil King’s MC. It is an older book of Nicole James and introduces us into the Motorcycle Club called the Devil Kings. The group in this particular novel are not particularly likable except for two of the characters Ransom and Reno. They are asked by their president to kidnap and hold Kara Harbinger to force her father, a judge, to rule a certain way.
Reno knows this is a no win situation and is determined to carry out his duty, until he is not. Ranson and Reno know that not all the facts and truths are out on the table and they need answers fast. However Reno also knows that he is falling for Kara in a big way. Until they can figure out what is going on - Kara is in danger and Reno can’t fall for her.
Nicole James writes gritty love stories with characters that have their own sense of right and wrong, but who love and live big. Dirty Deeds is just such a book.
