Legacy Inn #2

The Summer I Fell for My Fake Boyfriend

Rate this book
What’s the first rule of having a fake boyfriend? Don’t catch feelings. Especially if he’s the guy of your dreams…

I should’ve known better than to rise to the bait. But I was sick of being called undateable by Edendale High’s mean girls. So I told them I had a boyfriend.

The problem? I lied. And now they’re doing everything they can to prove it. It looks like my time is up.

Until I meet Wes Adams.

Handsome, funny, and the state's most coveted quarterback, Wes is a total catch -- and he’s newly single. He also happens to be working with me at Legacy Inn this summer.

When Wes proposes a fake relationship, it seems like the perfect answer to both of our problems: I help make his ex jealous, and he pretends to be my boyfriend in front of the girls from school.

But, the more time we spend together, the more I realize I have an even bigger problem:

If dating Wes is supposed to be fake, why does it feel so real?

Ugh, so good! I honestly wish Legacy Inn were a real place at this point. I loved Wes and Anaya, and the fact that they both loved Taylor Swift. It wasn’t as good as the first one so I had to give it 4 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cute YA romance

This story is pretty cute. Wes and Anaya embark upon a fake relationship in order to make his ex jealous and allow Anaya to save face in front of the Mean Girls of her school. But neither of them is brave enough to tell the other it doesn't feel fake. The villains are very catty and the reader is happy seeing Anaya rise above them. Steam level: kissing.

4.75 ⭐️ Give me a fake dating any day. I loved this book so much! It was good 😊! I love this one a lot better than the first one. You don’t necessarily have to read these in order. They all have the same setting, but each book just focuses on a different character working at Legacy Inn. No swearing and no spice. This is like the perfect book for summer and the setting is so good!

The Legacy series is amazing. I read a lot of serials but I've never encountered 4 books which occur concurrently. Yet the author fives nothing away in each about the other leaving each fresh and inviting.
Ms. Woodley taps into the fears, insecurities, and inherent ability we have to misunderstand each other in any personal relationship. As I approach the climax of her books, I find my heart racing, hands tingling, and eyes watering. And it feels good.
I enjoy all of her works and highly recommend them.

So cute it made me cry. I also haven’t felt attached to characters in a while so this was really nice and I am in love with this book.

Full of playful banter & snark.

This is my favorite in the series! Wes arrives to a small town after his dad cheats on his mom. He does the right thing because he knows his mom needs him. His dad was barely around so they don't have much of a relationship. His dad bought him a new Jeep with every feature available. He almost didn't take it except he didn't want his mom to have to drive him everywhere. Wes has to leave his friends, his quarterback football position, & his girlfriend dumps him. She will only stay with him if he moves in with his dad. He doesn't get how she has no compassion for his mom. This is Wes's senior year & he was hoping for a scholarship. The team he's going to be on sucks.

Anaya's mom left a few years ago. She said she didn't want to be a parent anymore. Now Anaya does all the cooking. Her dad works long hours & always looks tired. She is beautiful, athletic, loves kids, quirky, klutzy, & compassionate. She used to be the head cheerleader however, because she was a better cheerleader & more beautiful than other girls she became the target of two bullies. She sticks up for others even if she has to go up against her own bullies. However, they make her so mad that she lies & says she has a boyfriend from out of town. Since she will be gone all summer she thinks she can get away with it. Until the mean girls tell her they will be visiting the hotel she will be working at on & off all summer. Anaya will be working as an instructor teaching kids how to swim.

Wes will be the lifeguard. There is a lake they will be working at together. When they meet Anaya is swimming & allows herself to drop under water. Wes thinks she's drowning and gets down to his boxers & jumps in. She fights his hold & chews him out. They swim back to the dock. Where she informs him she wasn't drowning because she's the swim instructor. They end up becoming fast friends working together daily. When one of her bullies shows up she panics. And whispers in his ear to play along please. That she would owe him. Then she kisses him. And he kisses back. It's a good kiss that both think about a lot. He plays along & starts making up the cheesiest terms of endearment. He makes her explain. He could the girl was mean. Later he runs into his ex girlfriend. They take a walk & he is surprised that she still doesn't want to get back together with him. While walking Wes isn't paying attention & runs into Anaya. Then he introduces her to his ex. Afterwards his ex asks if he thinks Anaya is pretty. Then she tries to trick him by asking if Anaya is prettier than his ex. Wes realizes his ex is jealous of Anaya. Wes gets an idea & he asks Anaya will be his fake girlfriend. They set up some ground rules. Anaya is afraid if they kiss anymore she will get her heart broken when they fake breakup.

However, as they continue their fake relationship both start to fall in love. Wes realizes his ex is just as mean as the bullies Anaya is trying to keep this lie going for. This is her first boyfriend even though it's a fake relationship. The fake breakup comes & neither wants to do it. Anaya insists they go through with it even though Wes tries to tell her how he really feels. She thinks he's still faking it. He told his ex he didn't want to get back together. He thought Anaya overheard but she didn't. When Wes's ex tries again to get back with him he again told her no. She figures out he really likes Anaya. When his ex hears that Wes's dad was in a car accident she finds Anaya & tells her. Anaya asks her why she isn't at the hospital because Wes needs someone with him. Anaya decides to go to the hospital but they won't let her back to see Wes because she's not family. She leaves a note for him and tells him how she feels. Then she doesn't hear from him for days. She has a swim meet & hopes to see him. He misses her first race. When he shows he makes a fool of himself by yelling, cheering, whistling, & holding up a sign when her name is called. There is a HEA ending.

W+A=🥰, but storyline could be better

You know we struggle when God lets us suffer. Asking God why. Of course we are in a world of sin and death and no one is excluded from it, but more than that there is something about suffering that makes us better. Wes and Anaya have been through some things. So they care deeply. I enjoyed that. The love for TSwift and hatred of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream not so much 😄.

Wes and Anaya are enjoyable for the most part. I think Brooklyn and Chloe are real examples of people I have seen who have pretty great lives and yet are so bitter and angry. It really is amazing how that happens. The biggest reason I have to rate it a 3 is because the story is inconsistent and a tad stagnant. One minute Wes and A are so in tuned to each other’s thoughts and feelings and once they realize they like each other they get so wrapped up in themselves and are suddenly SO sure the other isn’t interested. Didn’t work for me.

Some Moments I Enjoyed💛

“Kissing may not be a big deal to you, but it’s a big deal to me,” I say quietly. “I just… don’t want it to be fake.”

“Training waits for no man and pauses for no weather. Do you want to win that swim meet or not?” I roll my eyes and salute him. “Yes, sir.” “Good. That’s more like it.”

“Who’s counting? It’s been two months since our first date and three weeks since we made it official. Right, honeymuffin?” I squeeze Anaya close and she shoots me a look… “That’s right,” she mutters through clenched teeth.

“Man, I love it when you talk nerdy to me.” Wes knocks me gently with his shoulder.

I smile at Wes. “I was just explaining to Isabella, Lucas and Chloe how we faked our entire relationship. And how that was very wrong.” Wes’s expression is solemn. “Oh yes, so wrong. We are very sorry for lying.”

Romance: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Writing: ✏️✏️✏️✏️✏️

This story was so much fun to read. It was intriguing, exciting, and had a lot of emotion. Both of the characters were amazingly built. They were both so easy to imagine. They both grew throughout the story. I loved how Anaya was able to get over her insecurities and face Isabel by the end of the story. Wes made so many new friends, was able to forgive his father, and overcome any insecurities he may have had. I love how Sara is able to develop all the characters. I would certainly recommend this novel to YA romance lovers!

The story follows Anaya and Wes. Wes has moved to Edendale after his dad and mom split up. He’d much rather be in Billings, his old home, but is staying because he doesn’t want to stay with his father. His girlfriend called things off when she realized that he would be a whole town over. Anaya’s mom left when she was younger so now it is only her, her dad, and her father. Anaya while confronting one of the “mean girls,” she says that she has a boyfriend. They both meet up at Legacy Inn, where they willing to be working for the next three months. Wes wants his girlfriend back and Anaya needs to have a boyfriend to show off. But when sparks fly? Well, that’s when the fun starts.

I’m a sucker for fake dating stories and this one is flawless!

Spanish & English Opinion ::

ESP ::

ENG ::

Fake relationship stories are amazing and this one is original, cute and amazing.

Legacy Inn makes me wish I was working there and having friends like the ones that work there. Wes is an incredible guy, Anaya is there sweetest. Their chemistry, their relationship, their love... I enjoyed it all!

So far, this has been my favorite story ❤️

This book was cute. I love seeing their relationship grow. My one big thing was the fact that the author put in that the hospital didn’t have very good service so people couldn’t use their phones. In a place like that where people call families and update them on things when they are there I find that hard to believe. In a big city it’s not like they are out in the mountains. There would be way too many complaints and I think even staff would complain. So I don’t see that actual being true. My other complaint would be that Anaya asked Wes to tell him what he was going to say because she wanted to know but then when he started to talk she thought he might say something she didn’t want to hear if she would’ve let him finish it would’ve been so much better for them but what’s a story without a little drama.
But I loved seeing how they found similarities and had fun together as friends.

I love all the Legacy Inn’s stories.
This one is my favorite so far.
I loved the strong character of Anaya and the funny banter of Wes. The way they “ started” their relationship was just marvelous. How they both got real feelings for each other, how Wes was so enthusiastic!
This was such a beautiful love story!
A really, really nice read and a great way to escape reality!

Not a bad book, I liked the dynamic between Wes and Anaya. I do think that the characters in this series fall in love kind of quickly, but I liked it. I myself prefer things to move a little slower. The setting of the book is good and the interconnectedness between the books in the series is noticeable, but not so much there that you have to read to understand. All the books can be read as a standalone or as a series in case they want to learn more about any specific character.

This story about Wes and Anaya was my second read from this author. I absolutely loved the first person point of view of the story, which is a deal breaker for me.
High school drama, but still very good. I liked it.

Sweet

This was cute, I love reading the friends to lovers trope the characters had great chemistry, the rest of the characters were kind of a cliché and pretty much this is a formula teen romance and If You are in the mood for it you'll enjoy it. Wes Dad was a jerk I didn't forgive him neither the cheater new wife, sorry.

Such a fun and sweet adventure these 2 took you on
so it was done to change certain things in their lives but in the end it really changed them and what they wanted in their lives
we all know we don't like the "bullies" but in order for some good things to happen you need them around and this book is proof of that
cant wait to see what else this author writes bc this book was soooo good

I like this one way better than the first one I felt like the characters were more relatable and had a little bit more depth. I completely understand her Yuen coordination by being able to play sports. I am that way with volleyball. Wes was flirty but sweet.

Content:
Many swimming and bathing suit references, kissing only, two curse words, I believe, and some trauma from Parents.

A cute YA clean story that was sweet, has character growth, and an easy read.
A fake relationship was the best plan for Wes and Anaya that summer, will they catch feelings?

No matter how old I get I am a sucker for a fake dating story. This was one of the more enjoyable reads in that genre. A cute and easy read with very likeable characters. I didn't realize it was part of a series (Amazon title cut off the #2 on my phone screen) but my enjoyment of this book makes me want to pick up the others.

It was fine. Extremely formulaic and the romance was too instalove for me, but it was harmless enough. There are better books out there but if you like formulaic clean ya romance, it’s a quick, easy read.

Great read

Just want I was looking for clean and well written. Love the characters. Not too much details to lengthen the chapters just enough for the audience to use their imagination.

Cute high school summer romance. The story flowed well. Some of the adjectives were a bit too much, but as I got more involved in the story I noticed less and less.
