A heartwarming and exciting, but also humorous series about a family of dragons working to make their supernatural world a safer place even as they figure out life and love with family togetherness. I'm addicted to the series and get a spark of glee for each new release.

Dragon Lesson is the sixth novella in the series and thrill of all, for me, it's Lumie's story. As the stories progressed from book one, Lumie has been the most unique and curious of Dane and Mercury's dragon kits. Now he's all g A heartwarming and exciting, but also humorous series about a family of dragons working to make their supernatural world a safer place even as they figure out life and love with family togetherness. I'm addicted to the series and get a spark of glee for each new release.

Dragon Lesson is the sixth novella in the series and thrill of all, for me, it's Lumie's story. As the stories progressed from book one, Lumie has been the most unique and curious of Dane and Mercury's dragon kits. Now he's all grown up and experiencing the pangs of first love and adulthood as he faces the challenge of college and his first job outside of home.

I loved meeting Lumie's match in Goldie, the timid, quiet yet quite skilled elemental dragon. Goldie wants to overcome his fears and be worthy of Lumie who he thinks is losing patience with him for being so timid. The pair have a strong adventure together both in the start of love and their mission for the government. It was neat to finally get the secret behind Lumie's special brand of magic that goes beyond what a dragon normally has.

The author has a great talent for getting inside her dragons' minds. As each chosen kit gets to tell his story as he reaches adulthood, she gives them a personal and fascinating outlook and individuality. Lumie was a little cocky and even a little lazy because he is so powerful and he faces his first real challenges in the big wide world. Goldie is slow into things, but he does eventually get there when he is most needed.

In the author's world of dragons, they can recognize their future mate, but still have to put in the work of a relationship, not to mention they have dragon traits that make their outlook very different from humans on the subject of relationships and everything else. The guys are cute and I loved seeing them work through their misunderstandings and engage in first love.

The tone is light and fun while still exciting. I've been raving about this series since the beginning and still encourage those looking for unique light and quick stories to give these sweeter M/M Urban fantasies a go.

I just found out that Dragon Lesson by Mell Eight is the seventh book in a series called Supernatural Consultant. Although I feel like I may be missing things, I felt it was very easy to follow and it is SO GOOD. It is one of my favorite science fiction books in 2020 - 2021. I love the concept of a supernatural investigator looking into a dragon sighting - wholesome, humourous, and clever. Plus there is a romance and backstories it seems like. A fun short read with dragons. The characters are well developed for such a short read.

The plot is also interesting and comes to well rounded off conclusion, that will lead to a sequel from here.

If you are looking for short and sweet with a dash of cute this one is for you.

This series reads with the feels of a lifetime movie, only I'm awake at the end. What I love about this is the author took an original concept--a supernatural consultant investigates a dragon sighting--and has spun it into an extended universe that is as believable as it is fluffy. It's not easy to write a sweet romance that doesn't devolve into saccharine nausea, but time and time again this series has delivered. My long-running grumble about this cute series has always been “needs more Lumie”, so imagine my delight when I discovered that not only was this Lumie’s book, but that he also wasn’t about to be romantically paired up with Alloy. Lumie’s magic is far different from a normal fire dragon, he can teleport, and walk through even Dane’s impenetrable wards. And, he’s prescient, with an uncanny ability to see the future. And Lumie know that his future is tied to Goldie.

Goldie is a precious gold dragon, which has more innate magic than ordinary element dragons. He was kept in a human lab for years before he was rescued, and the pain and terror of those days walks with him still, despite being 19. For near on a decade, Goldie has watched Lumie hang about the edges of his life in the quiet household where Goldie was adopted, as Lumie visits nearly every week. Lumie has flashes of Goldie smiling at him with love, but that’s a premonition; Goldie’s hardly ever even spoken to Lumie in all their time together. It’s funny that Lumie has almost verbal diarrhea around Goldie, who listens closely and wishes for half the fearlessness of Lumie. Lumie has big news for Goldie, though–he’s been offered a guaranteed admission and full scholarship to any college of his choice, if only he will agree to work for the Supernatural Federation, a government agency tasked with managing the well-being of supes and humans alike. Lumie has no interest in college, but his dear brother Alloy really wants to go, and Lumie suspects that Goldie does as well–he’s extremely into their schoolwork, though Lumie doesn’t know why. Lumie sees the promise in this offer, though, and promptly negotiates acceptances for Alloy and Goldie, once they agree.

Ultimately, Lumie sees the college path as a way to get Goldie to move in together, and maybe he’ll get to see that love-filled smile. It’s actually not too long before Goldie and Lumie are learning a whole lot about themselves and one another. Their college has all sorts of magic theory classes, and Lumie finally learns the source of his unusual magic powers. Goldie also learns how to shut out the emotions of those around him–and use his unexpected gift to waylay bad guys. And, just in time too, because they are now on assignment to track down some dudes who’ve been kidnapping supes and forcing them into bloodsport for gambling rings. Lumie had never expected his magic would fail him, but his new education helps him see a way past his captors, and right into Goldie’s arms forever.

This is a YA paranormal romance with innocent first kisses and dreams built on a vision of the future. It’s sweet and entertaining, with just the right amount of action to balance the romance. I love how Lumie had to really grow beyond his lackadaisical life, and skills, to become capable of being responsible for himself and Goldie. And Goldie’s growth from timid and shattered to fierce enough to defend his life-mate? So engaging. The more of these stories I read, the more I can’t wait to read another. Lumie has been my favourite character in this series and I'm glad we've finally reached his story. Time really flew forward considering he's 19 in this book though his general character of being lazy (something I can relate to) was still there. I loved seeing things from his point of view and how his magic worked, a mystery that was solved in this book.

This book cannot be read as a standalone, but it's worth reading the rest of the series before hand, as it's really well written and fun to read. This one was another quick and easy addition to the main series and concentrated on Lumie and Goldie, with the occasional piece from other characters point of view. Lumie has been reaching out to Goldie as carefully as he can. Goldie is still traumatized from being experimented on and everything terrifies him. Lumie agrees to go to college so that Goldie can go too, of course where Lumie goes, disaster usually follows.

Lumie has grown up in this book 15 years and he’s in love with Goldie a dragon rescued when they were young.
Lumie gets flashes of future happenings and in one Goldie is smiling at him, he does everything in his power to bring that about even if it’ll cause him to stop being lazy and learn more!
A lovely story of the boys growing up.

Aww, Lumie… he may be all grown up, but he’s still a handful. 😉

Dragon Lesson was a book of discovery for the most part. Lumie discovered where his unique brand of magic came from and Goldie discovered why his fear was so intense. The two of them helped each other.

Not as mischievous now he is a bit older but fun all the same.
We get a bit more on the evil people experimenting on dragon kits.
We get a development for Lumie and Goldie though it did come along quite quickly despite the years building up to.
Both Lumie and Goldie learn more about their magic too.

This series was, in one word, adorable. Very teenage-meet-new-adult. I don't think I've ever read a book that used the words "evil", "scientists", "enemy" and "kit" so much and often in the same sentence. It was pretty annoying. Like reading a children's book that reinforces certain words kids that age need to learn.
The side stories (books 5.1 and 5.2) were very childish, it was just like reading a book aimed at preteens. The best one was the first, it pretty much went downhill from there. I did ...more
