I've been using this book for more than a year, and I realized recently that I spent most of that time playing the author's sheet music, not improvising or working on music theory. While the book is user-friendly, it's too light on theory and soloing. The author does provide a few tips here and there on these subjects, but they are scattered and disorganized.
