An invitation to the ranch to prepare the Triple Hill’s horses for an upcoming mounted archery clinic seems like a dream come true to Astrid, Rob and Nori. Especially when they can bring their own horses with them too. It’s the perfect distraction Astrid needs to keep from worrying about her parent’s new baby and her own uncertain future. But the ranch is changing, for better or worse, and it’s a struggle for the Triple Hill’s team to keep up with the never-ending work that farm life demands. And some people are keeping secrets they’d like to stay buried.

After the mounting and u depending tension in the first four book in this series , it was nice to see the protagonist Astrid, fall into some security and normalcy. There was enough conflict and suspense to keep the reader interested, but, ultimately, one wants to see Astrid settle into a normal life away from her oppressive and abusive dysfunctional parents. This series would make a great television serial for the CBC, much like HEARTLAND, which is popular here in the US. Genevieve Mckay is making a solid contribution to young adult literature and, I hope, empowering children in abusive families to seek help in fighting g the cycle and getting into healthier circumstances. My only criticism is that this volume seemed poorly edited and not as crisply written as the previous four. However, that may just be a by-product of the conversion to Kindle format. I look forward to the next book if one is planned!
I have loved all of the books in the Defining Gravity series and this one did not disappoint. I hope there are more in the series! I think Astrid (or even Nori in a series spinoff) have plenty of adventures yet to be told. Not to mention the horse characters that could be dreamed up to enter Astrid and Red's world. There were hints to a possible future so fingers crossed that everyone else loves this book and leaves a review to let the author know that we need more!!!
I really hope there will be more in this series. I want to know how life goes for Astrid. I luved the ending but no spoilers. Horseback archery sounds like so much fun. I wish it had been around when I was young. I definitely would have tried it. The young romance of Astrid and Rob was something I never had a chance to experience. It would have been nice . Recommended for all ages. Highly recommended.
This book was a great way to learn how to be nice to people even through you don't like them. Horses are remarkable animals they feel love, respect and gentleness if you take the time to know them. I would like to read books 6 or 7 if there was more into this series. Astrid has more years of schooling to go. Thank you for taking the time to write these books for my pleasure.
I have loved every single book in this series and I truly hope that there are more to come. The characters are delightful and the horses make the stories even more wonderful. I will be checking for new books from this author on a regular basis from here on out. She is talented and her books are the best!
Sorry for the pun, but it's true, this latest chapter in Astrid's story was well worth the wait. She has grown so much as a person since we first met her. Genevieve wrote this beautifully.
I just love this series and cannot wait for the next book. Astrid keeps growing and developing and it is so exciting and moving to follow her journey with her. Great job!
Great series, all the characters are memorable and totally believable. totally enjoyed this series. Sometimes we don't know what people are going through on a daily basis. Give them grace.
I read this series one after the other. The kids were believable as teenagers, learning important life lessons as time went on. I really enjoyed reading about the stars, the horses. Recommend for horse lovers!
Wish there were more books in this series. Really enjoyed all of them. This book rounded out a good experience. And was very educational as well. I learned a lot about archery on horseback. A great read!
I loved this series, and each one got a little better! So many life lessons as well as a beautiful story! Loved the way it ended! I'm already wishing there was another 5 books in this series!
The horses and people in this book were so interesting and you felt like you were there and part of it all. The archery contest was intense and everyone worked so hard to put it on. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Love your style of writing. Great story without violence, sex or spiritism. I loved getting to know the people and the animals. I have always talked to my animals. They are very intelligent and sensitive reflecting their designer’s wisdom.
This series is great. It’s gotten me interested in horse archery and I always learn some horse care and riding from them. It’s also a nice story and I like the main character a lot.
What a great journey this series has been. I do hope #6 is on the way.
Ms McKay has written a wonderful storyline, done wonders with character backstory and development, tackled several intense and important issues. Love these characters and the plotlines.
As always, an engaging plot with interesting characters. The twists ad turns kept me turning pages and I was sad to reach the end. I hope for more about Astrid and the clever world she lives in. Archery on horseback sounds so cool!
