This was a fast paced Organized Crime Romantic Suspense that will keep your heart pumping with tons of adrenaline and keep you guessing on who the bad guy is right to the end.

With the way Underboss had ended I knew that Shane and Ivie's story was going to be intense, no worries if you haven't read it because this can be read as a standalone, how could it not be when someone walks into her place of business and kidnaps her.

Shane and Ivie have been dancing around their feelings for one another for a while with good reason, and we find out what those reasons are in great detail in their story. I LOVE Shane, I think he may be my favorite Martinelli Brother....but I haven't read Rafe's story yet so that could change LOL

Shane and Ivie are great together I loved their chemistry and the way they worked together while trying to figure out who was behind her kidnapping. Kristen Proby did a wonderful job with giving us not only two main characters that have us rooting for them from the very beginning but also so many secondary characters that are great as well. If you have read any of the The O'Callaghans Series Cameron Cox will be familiar to you and OH MY I cannot wait to get his story!!!

When two people have so many secrets, is it possible to have a real, trusting relationship. That is the main question posed and the main thrust of the relationship between Shane Martinelli and Ivie Jordan.

Headhunter (With Me In Seattle Mafia, #2) is the second entry to the new series by Kristen Proby. We met all of the players in the first book and this focuses on secrets, life-threatening secrets.

It starts with Shane and all of the family/friends realizing Ivie has been taken and is missing. This is the woman Shane has been smitten with but has been fighting the feelings. Shane's double life of working covert for the government and also for the family has made him believe there is no opportunity for a "normal love or real life". No woman should ever have to deal with the type of life he lives.

But those thoughts go out the window when Ivie is taken. All of the power and resources come together to find her and protect her. Ivie's secrets are revealed and come into play, causing a real threat to all involved.

This has all the elements of hand-to-hand combat, the realization of life is too short, and love matters. It was action-packed but a little Mafia Underbelly lite to me. It works, though, and has us interested in the other characters and their upcoming books.

This is a suspenseful, action packed romance filled with secrets. The second book in the With Me in Seattle Mafia Series comes out swinging. This story is about Shane Martinelli and Ivie Jordan and it begins with Ivie being abducted.

Shane and Ivie have formed a connection so when she is abducted, Shane doesn’t bat an eyelash to find her. Once he finds her, the why was she abducted needs to be answered. While Shane is protecting Ivie, they are able to be together and let their feelings show. But evil and danger are present and they want Ivie and will not stop until they have her.

I love how Shane’s other brothers and their significant others all play roles in this story. The sense of family is always strong in this author’s writings and this one did not disappoint. Gettingthrough the secrets will be tough but when you care about someone, you take the risks because the rewards are so sweet.

This is the second book in the With Me In Seattle Mafia series and one again Kristen does not disappoint!! I've been anticipating Shane and Ivie's story since reading Underboss and especially after that ending.

From the first chapter to the last this story had me hanging on every word with suspense, intrigue and of course all kinds of explosive chemistry. Shane Martinelli has secrets, ones he can't divulge to anyone especially the woman he's enamoured with and had now sworn to protect. Ivie Jordan is the sweet, strong and somewhat clumsy woman that is ready to take on Shane Martinelli in more ways than one. When these two are thrown together because of Ivie's past and Shane's need to protect her the sexual tension builds and the sparks fly!

This book was nothing short of INCREDIBLE and one I didn't want to end! Kristen Proby has proven she can write just about anything and turn it into UNPUTDOWNABLE PERFECTION!! If you haven't started this series I highly recommend you grab it now!

It just keeps getting better. I love this world Kristen has created! Headhunter begins on a thrilling note from the first word and continues to captivate till the end! A lot of that is from the storyline itself but the chemistry and push/pull connection that Shane and Ivie have is explosive and intense!

I love the passion and intensity that Kristen has weaved throughout not just this book but from the very beginning of this series. Both stories have grabbed my attention and made my heart trip over itself for most of their unfolding. With each story I become more and more thirsty for more of this world. It is action packed with all the obligatory circumstances one would want to read in a mafia romance. I especially like that although there are all kinds of secrets and deceptions with twist and turns you may or may not see coming, Headhunter remains mostly out of the shadows or darkness that mafia stories most times succumb to. And again, the passion and connection that Shane and Ivie share not just as lovers but also as friends was perfectly executed and is what kept me up way too late reading.

If you're a fan of criminal underworld romances, this is a series you won't want to miss!

I really struggled with this book, and even though I did like it more than the first installment in this series, there were parts where I was cringing and just wanted to smack Ivie in the head. I found her adorable at the start, but she just got to be more and more annoying as the plot played out. She went from this clumsy girl who was so insecure about everything about herself (which honestly, same) to this ultra badass who could take down her arch nemesis in the blink of an eye, who also happened to be her own father. All that would have been fine and dandy, but I just wish we got to see her evolv into the said badass more than we did. It was basically just a few chapters of her going from clumsy to lethal, and I just we had *more*. Especially since her insecurities were at the forefront of her mind for so long too, but it was never really addressed in a healthy manner.. or really at all.

I did truly love Shane. He was hands down my favorite part of the book. He was instantly protective over Ivie, and knew he wanted her right away, so when the time came to literally protect her life, he didn't even blink. Their relationship was a fun one, but it seemed to only skim the surface for me. Don't get me wrong, they definitely had a connection, and I loved that they each brought out a different side to the other, but I just wish we had more emotional moments between the two of them.

The mafia aspect to me still felt mafia-lite to me as well, just like in the first book. It's not that it's bad, I was just hoping for some more action. That being said though, I did really enjoy this book! I love the way that Kristen writes, and the ability she has to really suck you into her stories right away. Plus the sexy vibe underneath it all is just amazing! I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series as well!

You can never go wrong with Kristen Proby.
This book had action, suspense and so much sexiness.

I was already interested in Shane and still he managed to surprise me and excell my expectations. He was confident, sexy, protective and always sharp.
Ivie was also great, really smart and sweet.
They made a really good team and their connection was tight and intense.

And oh my, what about Curt! I need more of Curt in my life!

I'm really enjoying this mafia side of With Me In Seattle. But to be honest, I'm sucker for everything about this series.

Gripping, edgy & addictive

HEADHUNTER is the second of three books in Kristen Proby's With Me In Seattle Mafia Series, and it was just as gripping, edgy and addictive as Underboss. To get more out of this story I do recommend reading Underboss beforehand, although it can be read as a standalone. This book concentrates on the story of Ivie Jordan and Shane Martinelli. from the opening pages through to its conclusion, Headhunter is a fast-paced, action-packed read that will definitely have the adrenaline flowing.

"What do you want to talk about?"
"How fucking sexy you are."

For months Ivie and Shane have been flirting with each other through texts and calls, but that's all they've done. Shane hides many secrets about himself and Ivie doesn't believe that anyone could fall for a woman like her, especially if they discovered her past. When Ivie is kidnapped Shane, along with his brothers Carmine and Rocco/Rafe, will stop at nothing to find her. In these opening chapters there are numerous twists and OMG moments, that you will find yourself just wanting to see how everything will add up.

"He's at risk.
Because of me.
If something happens to him, I'll never forgive myself."

Ivie's past is catching up with her, why? What does it mean? Who is after her? Her long hidden and kept secrets have come back to haunt her, at what cost? Shane automatically goes into protector mode, once he has Ivie back, he brings into use the skills from his "other job" to ensure her safety. he takes her to his hideaway, his mountain fortress, a place he believes cannot be breached. A place that appears to be more secure than Fort Knox ... but is it? Shane, along with his buddy Curt, does everything to prepare Ivie for what she may face. Ivie has talents of her own though, one that becomes extremely handy.

"I'm going to eventually tumble you into this bed and have my way with you, Ivie ... not while you're hurting ... not until I've had time to kiss the hell out of you ..."

While all the fast-paced action is happening, the relationship between Shane and Ivie continues to evolve. nothing is easy though, as Shane continually believes his "other job" will not allow him to lead a normal life. However, Ivie the little minx, is determined to make Shane see what they could have. Shane is the perfect alpha, he's stubborn, protective, demanding, yet also tender and caring ... he was totally swoonworthy. I adored Ivie, a woman who had made something of herself despite her past. She is sassy, strong-willed, independent, and very outspoken. When these two get together though, their chemistry and hotness is undeniable, they certainly know how to burn up the sheets.

Another great read from Kristen. I'm really looking forward to reading Off The Record, Annika and Rocco/Rafe's story ... especially after the sneak peek at the end of this book. I would also love to see Curt get his own book, there is so much more to find out about this man.

Holy shit! Okay, hands down so far Shane is my favorite of the Martinelli brothers. He is everything...alpha, protective, passionate. This book has me sucked in from the start and I didn’t want to put it down. With Me in Seattle series has always been my number one series and the fact that it’s still going and has spin offs…man oh man. I am loving this!

Shane Martinelli one of 3 sons of the Martinelli mafia. But he lives a double life. If he’s working for his family on a job or on a job for his second life, what he does is dangerous and there are many chances he might not come back alive. So in his head he knows that he can never bring anyone into it, because one day he will leave them behind and alone or put them in danger. To him that is the worst thing he can do, not be able to protect and watch over the people or person he loves, so when Ivie walks into his life, he knew she was it for him. He knew deep down there is no one else like her, but he keeps her at arm’s length. They talk and flirt over the phone and when they run into each other but he won’t go further, she deserves someone that can be there for her all the time and alive.

Ivie is half way in love with Shane with all the calls, texts and flirting they do, but that’s as far as he’s ever gone. For Ivie guys have always treated her as an object, never being with her because they liked her or thought she was beautiful, so in her head she doesn’t know what is going on with Shane. Is he playing her like everyone else or what her gut is telling her, that he really does like her and wants her? Ivie has lived a quiet and simple life. She has shoved her past away and has moved on. But when her past shows up and needs help, Shane is the first one to show up. Demanding she stays with him and to listen to everything he says, for her safety. He would do anything to protect her and keep her safe. But can she break down his walls? Can she make him see they are better together than apart? Can she make him understand there is no one else for her? She would do anything for him and she already knows he would do anything for her.

I need book 3 like yesterday lol and OMG Curt needs a book! Ohhh and Cameron and Mary Margret…I can’t wait for their story. I loved how you brought in characters from other books and connected them! I love Kristen Proby’s writing and her amazing books. I highly recommend this series! I received this ARC for my honest review and opinion.

Kristen Proby once again delivers a book that will have you invested in the story from the start. Headhunter brings us Shane Martinelli and Ivie Jordon’s story. With both characters having unique back stories, bringing them together was brilliant.

Shane, alpha male extraordinaire, has lived several different lifetimes. Secrets that he keeps from others guides him in life. When Ivie needs him, he shows up and uses his experience to protect her as only he can.

Ivie had a hard start in her life but has fought hard to be the woman she is today and she’s not going to let anything get in her way. Under Shane’s protection she sometimes bristles, but then realizes that he’s doing what needs to be done.

The two of them are a contradiction, fighting one minute then falling into bed the next. The chemistry between them is explosive, whether in or out of the bedroom.

Kristen Proby’s writing is excellent and the characters are exceptional. Ms. Proby made a brilliant decision when she decided to explore the Martinelli family. 5 Stars #2OCCMS

I loved this book. I didn't want to put it down even when I had to. I liked how different Shane was from Carmine. Carmine was all about family and the mafia and while Shane was there for that too he was also an assassin for the government so his life wasn't his own. Until he met Ivie and knew he wanted her but couldn't have her. Once Ivie was kidnapped though all bets were off and Shane used every ounce of his skills to find her and keep her safe. I absolutely loved the dynamic between these two. Ivie wasn't some shrinking violet that needed protection all the time but she was smart enough to know when she needed help and needed more skills. Shane only wanted to put her in a tower so she would never be hurt but had to come to terms with her being a strong person. And then there was just enough drama in this to really keep the storyline interesting and moving. I cannot wait for the next book. If the hint in the epilogue is anything to by it's going to be a doozy.

The premise is intriguing and exciting; the romance is captivating and provocative; the characters are energetic and dynamic. The ‘mobster and Mafia’ premise is limited and not the focus of the story line premise although the Martinelli connections and power are helpful in resolving the conflict but the majority of the story line follows the threats to our heroine’s life, and Shane’s overwhelming ability to protect the woman he loves.

Wooow, I could not put this book down and read it in one sitting!!

The second installment of the Mafia romance trilogy from Kristen Proby gives us the story of Shane and Ivie.
This story is intense!! Shane is such an alpha, and Ivie tries to defy him in every step. Ivie has some drama to deal with, and Shane helps her out! The tension is more than high, it’s sizzling hot.
Of course Kristen Proby manages to throw us twists and turns in this book so you don’t know what will happen next! Huge surprise towards the end I definitely did not see coming!!
Loved Ivie and Shane, and can’t wait to read about Rafe and Annika now!

Intense. The one word to describe this story is intense. From that sad prologue to the very end Kristen weaved a story that had my blood pumping and on the edge of my seat. It was the best kind of feeling.

I absolutely loved Shane's alpha side and his sweet side. The chemistry between Shane and Ivie was off the charts. Their connection was impalpable.

This story was filled loads of action, super sexiness and just the right amount of romance.

Damn and that prologue I need the next book like yesterday. This series is epically good!

I’m a long-time Kristen Proby fan. Her With Me in Seattle series hooked me from book one way back in late 2012, and I’ve devoured each book since. So when we got a small taste of what she could do with a mafia spinoff in Archer’s story (You Belong With Me), I was quite intrigued. Being a long-time mafia romance fan, as well, seeing her dip her toes into that genre made me fairly giddy. Underboss (book 1 in this new mafia series) was a huge hit with me, so it was a given that I was going to dive into Headhunter as soon as possible. It can be read as a standalone title, but Underboss was fabulous, too, so I highly recommend starting there. I’m a series junkie, though, so you can take that advice with a grain of salt, per se.

Shane and Ivie have a friendship on the verge of more. However, both have pasts (and presents) that they aren’t willing to share with each other. Yet. When Ivie disappears, they are forced to confide in each other as Shane and his family and friends work to keep her safe while they unravel and neutralize the newest threat. Working through all the challenges, personal and otherwise, might be more than these two can take.

This storyline intrigued me even more because who would have thought to make a mafia hero a war hero (and still involved in super-secret work for the US president) as well? Shane is the perfect mix of anti-hero and hero all rolled into one. And Ivie is no shrinking violet. She’s taken care of herself for too long to let anyone push her around. But she’s also smart enough to (mostly) listen to Shane and live by his “rules.” As usual, Kristen Proby has written amazing chemistry between these two main characters, and some scenes were so steamy, I was sure my iPad would simply incinerate!

I love that Kristen Proby isn’t pigeonholing her characters or her plots into your traditional mafia romance stories. As mafia romance has garnered a lot of attention in recent months, this author has done a fabulous job of writing books that will stand out from the rest. In true fiction writing style, she explores the what-ifs and pushes the boundaries of mafia romance. And the twist at the end was…just whoa! Definitely did not see that one coming.

If you’re looking for a more traditional mafia romance plot and characters, this book may not be for you. But if you’re looking for something that will stretch your imagination and lead you to explore more unconventional possibilities, this book will be right up your alley. For those of you debating whether you want to take the plunge and explore something different in mafia romance, I highly encourage you to give this new series a shot. I think you’ll find it a true breath of fresh air.

Headhunter is the second installment in the With Me in Seattle Mafia Series. In this book we get Ivie and Shane’s story.

We met them in the first book, Underboss which is the first With Me in Seattle Mafia Series book that features Nadia and Carmine.
Underboss

Shane Martinelli is one of three brothers. Carmine is his older brother. Headhunter is a standalone novel that is set in an interconnected series. I highly recommend readers first read Underboss if you haven’t read it yet. In Underboss we are introduced to the Martinelli’s Mafia family and dynamics. Carmine and Nadia are a large part of this book. Also, Carmine and Nadia’s story is beautiful, and a must read.

In Headhunter, we get to know Shane Martinelli better. We were already introduced to him and his family in Underboss, however the extent of his work was thus far not known. He works for the government and is very closely tied in with high ranked officials making his job extremely dangerous. Shane doesn’t want a serious relationship due to the toll his job would take on another person. He is a loner. He’s never wanted an intimate relationship due to his hectic schedule and the dangers of his job. Meeting Ivie was natural and through friends. Shane was instantly attracted to her.

Shane always wanted Ivie but felt best to keep his distance. Still, Shane and Ivie maintain a long distance friendship and are always in each other lives being that Ivie is Nadia, Shane’s sisters-in-law, best friend and practically her sister. Nadia, Ivie and Annika have been best friends for years. They would do anything for each other even though Ivie isn’t their blood.

When Ivie needs help, the gang jumps in to help. As with all of the With Me novels, if you are used to Kristen Proby’s style, friendship, loyalty, and bonds prevail. Strong alliances formed through real friendship proves that Ivie can count on those close to her when it matters most.

One of those people is Shane Martinelli. Shane is smitten with Ivie and can’t help but protect her when she needs his help. Ivie Jordan is sweet, smart, a brilliant IT nerd and adorably clumsy. She proves to us in this book that she in stronger than she seems.

Ivie and Shane spends lots of time together when they hole up in his remote home in Colorado. The beauty of Colorado is written well into the background in this story. I wanted to move into Shane’s picturesque fortress in the mountains.

Shane and Ivie are brought together with lots of action, steamy scenes, and appearances from characters we NEEDED to see again! I loved the scenes with Nadia and Carmine as well as Anikka and Rocco! Kristen Proby has such a great way of building an interconnected series. You always know the secondary characters and crave every scene with them. I truly enjoyed reading the scenes when everyone came together.

Overall Opinion :
This book was an amazing one time read for me. I had been waiting for Shane and Ivoe’s story for a long time and I am so happy to say that I have finally read it!

I would definitely recommend this standalone to all the Mafia Romance lovers out there!

HEADHUNTER brings readers front and center into the world of Shane Martinelli and Ivie Jordan. This is yet another compelling, heated and not too dark piece of mafia romance from Kristen Proby. While the element of organized crime is certainly present, it's not something that overwhelms other aspects of the story.

For example, Ivie's situation and subsequent character growth are essential to her story, and fortunately, these pieces of the puzzle have space to fall naturally into place. There is no ridiculous and violent overkill of mafia and all it entails.

Shane is a swoon worthy protector, and he is much more complex than just some player in a large mafia family. Shane has an interesting backstory that played a part in shaping his personality and values. You can't help but like this man.

With plenty of shenanigans, thrilling romance and a brewing chemistry, Shane and Ivie are in for quite the adventure. Thank goodness we get to tag along for the ride!

This is the second book in the Mafia spin off series from With Me in Seattle by this author. This is brother Shane's story. He seems mysterious and now we finally get o see that there is more to this man than being the second in charge of the Martinelli family.

We meet both Shane and Ivie in the first book ( and Shane was in his cousin's book as well). Shane obviously has feelings for Ivie but is holding back on doing anything about it. Until Ivie gets taken. Then all bets are off. Shane's protective nature takes over and he needs to keep Ivie close to him and safe.

Lots of action in this book. Ivie has a complicated back story that has come for vengeance. Shane and his brothers with a little help from some military friends jump in with guns blazing. As always with this author--there is wonderful girl time spent. It is always a bright spot in her books.

Not much to do with the mafia in this book other than the families come together to support what is going on with Ivie. Shane is a sweetheart but needed a kick in the head before he finally admits he is worthy of being with Ivie.

Loved the whole story. Rafe is next and I think that one might break me based on the sneak peeks I have seen.

Headhunter is book two in Kristen Proby’s new With Me in Seattle Mafia series, and I am loving the blend of suspense, action, and romance that is included in each story.

The type of person Shane Martinelli is and his position in the family business has always made him consider love something that would never truly find him; it was too risky, a world of deadly violence. But since protection is what he’s good at, it makes sense that when Ivie Jordan needs his help, he jumps in to get the job done and while the danger is still present, Ivie is in good hands in more ways than one.

One aspect of Proby’s writing that always captivates me as a reader is the way she crafts the chemistry between her hero and heroine. It’s a palpable connection - one that resonates from the pages and allows readers to truly understand that the physical/sexual attraction that seemed pretty much instantaneous leads to a deeper bond and the fact that Shane and Ivie are thrust together due to a dangerous situation allows things to flourish between them but what that means when the dust settles is as complicated as the life of secrets and lies that both Shane and Ivie live.

Headhunter by Kristen Proby is the second book of the With Me In Seattle Mafia series. This series needs to be read in order.

Shane Martinelli is a son of a powerful mafia family. He keeps his activity for his family and the government hidden. He has always had an attraction to family friend Ivie Jordan. Now that he has to save her life and keep her safe he finds out the attraction is mutual.

This is a quick listen by Kirsten Leigh and Lee Samuels. They make these characters leap off the page.

Kristen Proby's series are nothing short of masterful. She creates families and friends that I love getting lost in and attached to.

Ok this book surprised me in all the ways.
I wasn’t sure if I would like book 2 only because I was on the fence with book 1 but I kinda loved it.

I loved Ivie and how strong she is.
I loved Shane because of how fiercely protective he is of Ivie.
Sometimes he was a little overbearing but if you think about his line of work then you can see why he is.

Their relationship might have happened because of circumstance but really it seemed like it was coming this was just the push they needed to jump in.

Really enjoyed the narration they gave the character that little extra zing that made this book extra special.
