A selection of 13 weeks of devotions, combining personal experience, poetry, Bible study and reflections. Eleven authors have contributed to this boxed set, which is available as a limited edition only until 19 April.
Each devotional piece is short enough to be included in a daily 'Quiet Time' routine, or the individual books can be read in one sitting.
A great gift book - for someone special, or just for you!

I love how the different authors focus on aspects of Africa and connect those to the Word of God as a way to help us understand how to apply the biblical truths in the devotions. The authors pray that “you will be drawn closer to the amazing Creator God who created all things–including you.”

The vivid descriptions of all things Africa were wonderful! As I read, I could see in my mind’s eye the animals, terrain, the dust, the sky, and the people. As I read the descriptions of the sounds, I could pull those sounds up from my childhood memories.

The authors bring us along for an African Safari that helps us to focus on God and His creation. They help us correlate the things they describe with God’s Word from which we cull biblical principles to apply to our hearts as we follow Christ.

NOTE: I received an advanced copy from the publisher for review purposes. I was not required to give a positive review. Thoughts in "My Two Cents" are my own opinion.

This book is perfect for busy people who'd like to read short, sharp, yet impactful daily devotionals. Each author deals with different aspects of the African continent, and this book will increase your knowledge about various places. But, above all, this 13-week "safari" will help you to see God "in all things". It's a must-read. I've read it from cover to cover, and am now rereading it-dipping into different devotionals from time to time.

This collection of devotions from the heart of African writers is like a kaleidoscope of praise. The rich variety of voices keeps it interesting and thought provoking. Some contributors dwell more on stories of the African country and culture, and others delve more deeply into Scripture. Some follow a traditional arrangement, others start with two Scripture passages instead of one, and still others include poetry. Whatever the format, they are all uniquely African and focus on the sovereign God who is In All Things.

Seven Reflections From The Ocean by Marion Ueckermann is a collection of sea themed devotions that really focus the mind on the awesomeness of our God. It is part of the In All Things boxed set with thirteen weeks of devotions.
God is in charge of the macrocosm of the universe and the microcosm of you and me. As we journey through life, we can see His footprints in our lives. He guides us through storms. He is our anchor and He leads us through the fog.
Marion Ueckermann has produced seven powerful devotions that will speak into our lives.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

In all Things is perfect for busy folks who need short, daily devotions to start or end their day. I loved reading about places that I’ll never get to visit and how God is the center of each. These talented authors provide heartfelt words and biblical truths through personal experiences as well as self-reflection and prayers to guide readers.

There is much to be said in favor of a box set of devotions written by several authors. As a whole, they deliver a variety of topics and approaches that helps to maintain interest. While there are too many authors to say a word about each of their booklets, I’ll restrict this review to four. They were chosen because their message stayed with me well after reading their respective set of seven devotions.

I particularly appreciated the way Shirley Corder was able to draw a meaningful Scriptural message from each of the African animals she described. One such animal was the elephant with its need to be part of a community, just as we too need to be involved in an active Christian community that aims to draw others into its fold.

I loved the way Deryn van der Tang’s description of the Namibian desert could so easily place me there in my mind’s eye. Of particular note was her following observation that I too could relate to through my own experience: ‘Your destiny is determined in the desert. . . . When the deep place of silence filters into the very core of your being, that is where you meet with God and return to continue with your mission in life.’

I read, with unabashed delight, Marion Ueckermann’s description of the South Easter wind in Cape Town that results in a vaporous table cloth (cloud) pouring over Table Mountain. Despite its gale-force winds that are difficult to negotiate when out and about, most Capetonians think of it in positive terms, namely, as the ‘Cape Doctor’ that blows the accumulated city smog away. Similarly, the Cape, which is sometimes referred to as The Cape of Storms because of its rough and treacherous seas, is more often than not referred to as The Cape of Good Hope. Via keen observation, Marion was able to draw out some excellent biblical lessons from her personal experiences related to the wind and the waves.

The fourth author I’d like to mention is Val Waldeck. While she doesn’t describe any specific feature related to Africa, she very cleverly hones in on the Covid-19 pandemic that has had devastating consequences for South Africa. Her description of seven biblical characters enduring their own specific-type lock-downs gives us the confidence that God is in control and that we too can become overcomers as God watches over us.

These easy-to-read devotions provide examples of connecting to God through nature. These South African authors have each chosen animals, plants, the beach, or the countryside to provide connecting places with our Creator. At a time when travel is limited, you will experience God's Presence through meditating on each vignette. The extra information contained in each devotion will give the armchair traveler something to think about or a bit of nostalgia for those who have visited these places.

An inspiring 13 weeks of devotions with an African setting. 13 talented authors each write a week of devotions with an African theme: animals, desires, gardens, gifts, journeys, landscapes, lights, overcomes, Psalms, rests, seascapes and storms. When you can't visit an ocean, Marion Ueckermann brings the calming effect of water, sand, and air to you in seven reflections, scripture, prayers and photos. Mediate on God's immense paradise of South Africa, Cape Town, Table Mountains, Blouberg Strand, and the Atlantic Ocean. Unwind your cares, escape the environment and relax with God's presence by the ocean with sand, pebbles, wind and more. No passport or mask required to travel to the beautiful continent of Africa.

I bought this set of devotions last year when it came out and why it took me so long to read through them, I don’t know. These are wonderful devotions. Each author has a section that is set in some type of African setting, landscape, animals, plants, etc. They weave these as a base to bring Jesus’ Words to us in a remarkable way. I have highlighted and bookmarked all throughout these books and plan to start over reading them again.

The authors wrote the devotions in the midst of the Covid outbreak and each devotion is so appropriate for the times we are in…even now a year later. I highly recommend this set of devotions.

UPDATE 2025: After this 2nd reading with my daughter, there are some good points in this devotional. However, we noticed that the main focus of these devotionals were on people's lives, rather than the focus being on God and Who He is. If you choose to read this, we strongly advise you use discernment, and research the author's own beliefs as well as Bible translations.

This was a fantastic spiritual growth (aka Bible devotional)! Going in, I knew it would take me the better part of the summer to read through 1/day. Each author's 7 day contributions were unique and I not only learned about African culture and places, especially gardens, but also how I can apply trusting in God's unique promises for my life. Highly recommended!
