The Problem #2

The Problem with Sports

Rate this book
ust sports? Is it really just sports we’re talking about here?

Nathan Hayes sure doesn’t think so. At thirty-three, Nathan is a retired professional baseball player, and looking at him, you can’t help but think of sex, sinning, and…uh, baseball bats, if you get my meaning.

Single, gorgeous, and with too much time on his hands, Nathan develops an unlikely friendship with an eight-year-old boy, who happens to come with a mother who tends to turn Nathan stupid.

Just Sports? Is it really just sports we’re talking about here?

Andrea Miller sure thinks so. At thirty, she’s written a couple of books, but was a book editor by trade, and looking at her, you’d think she had success in the bag. She called her own shots, for Pete’s sake.

However, with a divorce under her belt, a child with health problems, and an ex-husband she was still trying to work with, Andrea doesn’t have time to get involved with an ex-baseball player who might be a bit crazy.

When Nathan overhears Andrea’s son prattle on about how Nathan Hayes, the recently retired Condors shortstop, is just good, Nathan can’t help but feel it’s his duty to set the kid back on the right path. And that’s how he finds himself at Andrea Miller’s front door.

Between a kid who knows more about sports and anyone should know, an ex-husband who is still very much in the picture, a pro-one-night stand best friend, two idiot brothers, and cupid working overtime, Nathan and Andrea have their work cut out for them.

Together, they do their best to navigate what is going on between them, but with Andrea reluctant and Nathan crazy, it is definitely not smooth sailing. But even if the waves do threaten to take them under, drowning in emotions so explosive never felt so good.

There's not much to add to my bio, I'm pretty boring...LOL. My favorite thing is to read and, last year, I decided to trade in some of those reading hours and try my hand at writing. The experience has been one of the best things I could have ever embarked upon. It's turned into a hobby that is fun and thoroughly enjoyable. When I'm not reading or writing, I'm spending time with my family or friends.

“when I had tripped on my shoelaces and face planted into home plate, that had been it for me.
I had fallen in love with baseball.”

Nathan Hayes is a spoiled brat... he’s the youngest son, the baby brother, America’s sweetheart and a wall of fame worthy baseball player... so he’s spoiled... and it shows!
Yes there are some redeeming traits to Nate. Never mind the millions the guy has, he still keeps humble and loves his family to death. But, but when it comes to Andrea an Grant the guy can’t take the hint and he does have full blown out tantrums that are way out of place for a guy his age.

“Well, since you just handed my wife the daughter she’s always wanted, I’d say I’m probably the only one who needs to work through his emotions,”

When I started reading this book and the couple was heading to separation, I though “can’t the ex not be an asshole?” I mean in most books the ex-husband is worst than spitting in our soup.
But then, as the story progressed, the ex-couple had a healthy relationship with each other that made my heart happy.
How wonderful would it be if couples would remain friends after divorce? For their kids sake, for their own mental health sake! The world would be such a better place, if instead of hate we could maintain the love, the friendship,... you once loved them enough to think you’d spend the rest of your life with.

“Do you have a kid in here?”
Her brows shot up and she started blinking rapidly. “Uhm…pardon?”
“A kid?” I repeated. “A very misinformed, misguided, confused child. Is he in there?”

I loved Grant! His love for sports, his witty answers! Loved that kid!

“It’s not fake news,” he argued. “It’s researched opinions.”

“Opinions can’t be wrong,” he flung back. “They’re opinions”

I really love Miss Clayton writing style and her humor.
I love the Hayes family. Can’t wait to read book three of this series.

This was short and sweet. I loved Nathan but wish we could have had more time with him .

This book wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t good. I was not invested in the couple and found the plot boring.

Overall, I liked the book. The big misunderstanding was too overblown for me. But again, that aside, I did enjoy the book

Comecei essa série pelo livro 3 e depois fui ler esse.
Achei o terceiro melhor, mas essa não é ruim não. Só achei mais rápido e os personagens sem muita profundidade.. mas é bom pra passar o tempo
