King Chrysalis juggles various jobs to survive in New York City, but one job comes easy: his artistic talent. In fact, he’s a renown artistic savant with extraordinary abilities. However, sometimes his deep-rooted mistrust of people lands him in trouble.
Suri Scott lives far too much in her own head, but embraces her uniqueness like a badge of honor. An NYC emergency dispatch 911 operator moonlighting as a home-stager, she loves her single, carefree life.
Neither of them expected to meet the mate of their dreams one fateful night. Things start definitely on the wrong foot, but soon, the connection becomes undeniable.
Suri becomes the muse King simply can’t shake. Stepping out of his comfort zone, he starts painting a whole new canvas of life and chance. But will Suri trust her own judgment and let go to make a relationship work? Will King overcome his anger and past hurt to finally accept the love he deserves?
Tiana Laveen was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She moved away, and now lives inside of her mind, but her heart is occupied with her husband, two children, and twisted imagination. She enjoys a fulfilling and enriching life that includes writing books, public speaking, drawing, painting, listening to music, cooking, and spending time with loved ones.
Tiana Laveen is a uniquely creative and innovative author whose romance fiction is geared towards those who not only want to temporarily escape from the daily routines of life, but also became pleasantly caught up in the twisted, well developed journeys of her unique characters. Tiana creates a painting with words as she guides her reader into the lives of each and every main character. Her dedication to detail and staying true to her characters is evident in each novel that she writes.
Tiana Laveen always gives her all when she writes a story, and best of all there is always a message you can take away from her books. Her heroes and heroines aren't perfect, but they are perfect for each other. If you've never had the pleasure of reading any of her books, do yourself a favor and read this one. In fact, read all her books!
My review wont do justice to this book, let me try anyway. King hated the world because he believed that the world hated him. That is until he met beautiful, intelligent, classy with and edge, wise Suri... without trying, Suri will show King that not the whole world is bad, not every one is evil. Her own life wasn’t a picnic... but she was determined in making it.These two were meant to be, they are each other heartbeats. Grab a drink and let them tell you, it is quite an interesting journey.
A good book in a cold rainy day is always good for the soul and this book was just what I needed . Man I love how Tiana writes about relationships and communication with each other and family affairs it is so deep and thoughtful , hard and raw and I love it immensely ❤️❤️❤️
King Chrysalis slow transforms from egg to caterpillar to butterfly and finally into an adult. Laveen’s writing is a full blown reader experience from a very personal introduction preceded by trigger warnings before you dive into the story. A well-rounded playlist sits in the rear of the book if you want to play along as you read. Laveen uses a wide brush to paint a broad stroke of wide details, narrowing down to minute flicks of the tip with even splatters of interest and depth. This book saturates the mind and palate with a cacophony of emotions taking you on a hot, seedy, a dark trip into the mind of a deviant. Well done.
Awesome...King was all Alpha. For me he is indescribable. The book 📚 keeps you smiling from beginning to end. I love the strength both characters exhibited.Tianna showed that the main characters have strength and realistic personalities that a reader can relate to. Go ahead take that chance, you will not regret it. Loved it.. 2 snaps and a thumbs up 👍.
I truly enjoyed this journey of two people owning their stuff, growing, evolving, and becoming one. Two entities who weren't looking for each other, but their souls met and made the decision for them. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed the conversations, the music, the art, just everything. Why people are the way they are, cause and effect, relationships, flaws, imperfections, all of it. Excellent job.
What I !love the most is that they are not cookie cutter and neither is the love story. Each book is a new adventure I look forward to and some tired, lazy rehash of a series that should have ended long ago. Thanks Tiana for giving me new stories and new couples to root for each time.
Suri and King. This one has all the depth of emotion we’ve come to expect from Ms. Laveen! I think this love story of King and Suri was a love story for every individual. There was so much self discovery and healing. I don’t want to give anything away. I’m going to have to reread this and pick up on missed nuances throughout this book! Must read Folks! I put this right up there under self care! Well done Ms. Laveen. Well done!
I dont even know what to say about this book. There has never been two people in any book I have ever read that were supposed to be together more than King and Suri. The level of conversations they had not just with each other but with their family and friends was so deep, sometimes I just had to stop and say wow. Ms. Laveen took words to another level. You will love this book and how they made things work because that is what you have to do in life, but if nothing else, respect the word game the author has put on these pages.
I must have sounded like a mad woman laughing out loud, talking out loud and randomly calling my husband to read excerpts . However this is what happens when you read a Tiana Laveen novel. She weaves humour, with real life grittiness that blends seamlessly into a kickass unconventional romance. I loved that King was an Artist and not a typical profession. King although an artist was an Alpha through and through. Loved the interaction between the main characters and the secondary characters were well rounded also. A great read as usual MS. Laveen.
I really loved this book!!! I mean I don't think Tiana could write a book that I didn't love!!! I was really feeling this book King and Suri had a rocky start but when they got together you couldn't help but cheer them on. Watching them fall in love was so beautiful, I never wanted the story to end. From the cover (which I absolutely love) to the last page this story just made you smile !😊
Sister T, now you created a "Deviant"! I love this story about two intelligent, street wise, people. The characters are so real, like in everyone's family and life journey. I have met a Satyr, a Tyrant, and a couple of your other characters and they all depict a fierce love for an everyday woman. Plus I love how you tangle the your writing with playlists. Makes the books memorable. Bravo
As usual Ms Laveen , crafted a storty that held many layers to it. King was mysterious, complex, jaded, blunt, and sexy. Suri was smart, funny, compassionate, beautiful, and an open book. They were the perfect compliment to each others personalities. Shane was hilarious. Tomas was sad. Ricky was disappointing. Brian was crazy. I loved this story and I was sad to see it end.
Wow, loved this story, King was an intense, brooding, artist dealing with a difficult childhood and serious family issues, he didn't open up easily. Suri was just the woman for him dealing with her own past problems. Enjoyed reading another flawed, complex, seriously hot man from Tiana Laveen's imagination.
This author never fails to amaze me. Her stories are imaginative, creative and always provides a lesson or thought provoking perspective. The characters are intense and relatable. I look forward to each new read. As usual, a job well done. I always examine my life and the people in it after reading Ms. Laveen's books.
I'm not gonna lie. It started out slow for me because it was a "regular" story you know no mobsters, murder or anything like that. But the more I read the more I loved it. Broken artistic man meets sorta broken woman who opens his view to the world and his heart.
For me, this author is always top shelf and The Deviant didn't disappoint. I don't like reading spoilers in reviews so I'll just say if your already a fan of Tiana Laveen, you'll be adding this to your faves, if your a newbie, you'll love sinking into this story of love, romance, passion and discovery between King and Suri.... Enjoy!
King and Suri perfectly complimented each other. I loved the humor between them. Siri’s humor brought a much needed light to King’s life. I was engrossed in the family dynamics of both main characters. I loved how realistically creative King was portrayed. I loved the scenes involving his artistic side. King’s friend Shane was a trip and hilarious!
This was a new age modern day love story, and it was paired with some great music as well. That Shane was a mess and I just need to read his own story, can't imagine he getting hooked up with someone quiet. Hint hint 😁😁
It's good to see that most issues were worked out and how they went about solving their problems. Also glad we got a little peek at the futures of some of the characters.
When I started the book and we were introduced to Suri I didn’t think I would like her character. Man, was I ever wrong, she was beauty, humor, dignity an all powerful woman that helped King deal with past issues that affected his present outlook. Shane was a treat
I don’t need to say much about this book other than “You need to read this book” Tiana Laveen’s work has continuously speak for itself. This was another phenomenal read. I highly recommend reading this book
Reading this reminded me of the family drama I left behind at the age of 22, determined to find peace, of mind and heart. It took years, but I did find my place of peace. Just never found my King! Loved that part of the story!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED I don’t need to say much about this book other than “You need to read this book” Tiana Laveen’s work has continuously speak for itself. This was another phenomenal read. I highly recommend reading this book
