The Anna Albertini Files #3

Adverse Possession

Rate this book
The plural form of Nemesis is Nemeses

Anna Albertini never thought she’d have to look up the plural form of nemesis. In fact, she never thought she’d have one, much less three. But as she and her new partner try to make a go of their fledgling law firm, enemies come from every direction.

First, there’s a newspaper reporter trying to make a name for herself by dogging Anna’s every move. Second, there’s a lawyer on the opposite side of every case who just doesn’t like Anna. And third, there’s Aiden Devlin’s ex-girlfriend, who decides to descend upon the sleeping Idaho town like a bird of prey. It’s too bad she’s discovered dead…after finding herself on the wrong end of a potato gun, putting Anna top of the suspect list.

Anna deals with every day as it arrives while juggling her developing relationship with Aiden, trying to pay her rent by finding at least one client who pays, and finally by partnering with her Nonna Albertini in the world’s most chaotic plan to match-make her sister with the Elk County’s prosecuting attorney, Nick Basanelli. It’s a good thing Anna has learned to thrive in chaos.

Adverse Possession by Rebecca Zanetti
3rd book in the Anna Albertini series. Women’s fiction with some romance while the main story is more the misadventures of Anna and the serial killers she inevitably seems to be a target of. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series.

Anna and Clark open their brand new law firm with the help of cousin Pauley as File King and previous client Oliver as reception Czar. Photos of Anna and her sisters in a bar fight bring in new clients but also threats. When a woman ends up dead on Anna’s deck, undercover AFT agent Aiden has his hands full in trying to protect Anna while unraveling the threats.

Fast moving and entertaining with a bit of humor and danger mixed with a bit romance.
This is the third book I once again cringe at the bruises and contusions that are inflicted on Anna. I’d want to stay in bed for the next three days sore and whining, but Anna gets up and goes to work uncomplaining. I admire her resilience but would have to rethink going out the door again.
Overall loved the mystery, adventure and romantic Aiden.

The more I read from this series, the more I adore it. Everything about Anna and the crazy situations that follows her has me laughing constantly. Add in all the side characters and their responses to the situations Anna gets into just adds to the hilarity. And then you have Aidan. If the entertainment factor isn't enough, Aiden is. Once again, I can not wait for the next book!

Series description: A continuous series revolving around Anna Albertini, a lawyer who always seems to get into sticky situations. She's from a large Irish/Italian family that are heavily involved in Anna's life and brings much entertainment to each book. There are also many other side characters that include one hot, ATF agent. Each book revolves around a case that gets solved resulting in no cliffhangers.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A book as good as the previous ones =D
Normally I should have read this book from the moment it came out BUT I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC for another book by the author so I put off reading that book for a week ... Before devouring it in a day xD
What I particularly liked :
- the very family and comical universe that reminds me of the Stephanie Plum series (I hope, however, that this series will not follow the same path ...) I so want to go spend a week with the whole Albertini family =D
- the high in tension plot with the bomber but also the corpses that accumulate around Anna (SO creepy culprit !!)
- the characters who always make me laugh, especially Anna (adorable, endearing and badass =D) but also these sisters =D
- romance ... OK Aiden is not an absolute crush for me (#teampierce) BUT they are way too cute and the sex scenes are not only well written and STEAMY but also fun and tender =)
In short, for fans of detective books full of humor and with a touch of romance, I recommend the whole series =D
PS: I WANT a book with Tessa and Nicky (this scene where Tessa challenges him <3) but also one with Pierce AND with Quint <3
I’m loving this series!
Anna is a fiery lawyer that can’t seem to stay out of trouble. She’s got a huge family that’s always in everyone’s business and she’s just as bad about it as the rest of them. I love that she has a heart of gold and is determined to help those in need. It hasn’t taken me long to determine that she’s one of my favorite heroines of all time.
Huge Building Explosion at 2500fps - The Slow Mo Guys on Make a GIF
Aiden is her love interest and in this addition to the series, things are really getting deeper. Initially, I felt like his character was missing the Zanetti alpha goodness that I have come to expect. But as the story continued, it was evident that he was just as fiercely protective as those heroes I love.
This has a twisting plot with lots of ins and outs, ups and downs. I never knew which direction things were going to go. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, I’d find myself pulled down an entirely different path than I expected.
Everything about this book kept me engaged from the first page onwards. Filled with pulse pounding action, familial banter, and a sharp wit that had me smiling throughout the story, I’m once more cheering for more of Anna.
4.5 - "Checkmate…" Stars!
Anna and Aiden return for the third book in the Albertini series; Adverse Possession taking readers on another thrill-a-minute-roller-coaster ride of an adventure. This time with a rogue bomb-maker gets in the way of their blossoming relationship.
"I have enough men bossing me around right now… You don’t want to be another one…"
I’m loving this series, there’s always a lot going on, and a plethora characters involved in the shenanigans. The Albertini family as a whole are just getting more and more entrenched in the series as it develops as well, which is great because the more you read the more they are starting to feel like old friends. The Nonna’s constant meddling in Anna’s sisters love lives is a hoot too.
"If they tease you… I’ll shoot them."
Another thing that is growing with each book that is also keeping me hooked is the relationship between Aiden and Anna, I always love Rebecca’s heroes and Aiden Devlin is no exception, and the fact that he is front and centre in every book is giving the author the chance to expand and grow his character more than she usually does, and the results are lava-hot!
"It was a silly misunderstanding…"
"…You have a lot of those."
Another winner, this series has got some serious legs to it, and I hope the author keeps it going for a while to come, even if down the line Anna isn’t the main focus, her sisters are both intriguing, engaging and have enough going for them that they could absolutely step up to front & centre to carry the Albertini baton on in future books.
This is an entertaining, well-written, fast paced, steamy, romantic suspense novel. It has an intelligent, strong and capable female protagonist, a hot and heroic male protagonist, mystery, intrigue, suspense, wit, and humor. The twists and turns kept me engaged from the beginning until the surprise ending. It can be enjoyed as a stand alone, but is best when read in order. I am looking forward to reading the next entry in Ms. Zanetti's outstanding Anna Albertini Files series with great anticipation.
Rebecca Zanetti returns to her Anna Albertini Files series with Adverse Possession, where Anna is faced with not one but several enemies on different fronts. Good thing she has family, friends and a sexy boyfriend on her side to help her face the madness the seems to follow her.
Anna knows how to roll with the punches and after her prosecuting job went belly up, she decides to start a law firm of her own. But having a newspaper reporter write unflattering articles about her while Aiden’s ex shows up wanting a second chance with him and then being found dead on Anna’s front porch making Anna a prime suspect isn’t conductive to business. Can she and Aiden find the killer and navigate their budding relationship when the obstacles of his career keep stacking up?
Rebecca Zanetti has created an absolutely thrilling and entertaining series based on several facts. Anna Albertini is a kick@$$ heroine, with a heart of gold and a penchant for finding trouble. Her meddlesome family, including her wooden spoon totting grandmother will do anything for their family, from match-making to bar fights and food fights. And Aiden Devlin is a swoon worhy Irish alpha hottie who is head over heels in love with Anna and will do anything and everything to protect her.
As with the previous books in this series, the plot twists were un predictable and I really never saw the bad guy coming. Even though I wanted to read faster, I kept going at a leisurely pace wanting to savor every fun, sexy and electrifying moment. I truly hope this series goes on for a really long time.
Adverse Possession is book #3 of the Anna Albertini Files series by Rebecca Zanetti. As indicated by the series title, these books will be all about Anna Albertini, and are told in first person from her perspective. This book can be read as a complete standalone. Genre: contemporary romance | romantic suspense | mystery romance | women's detective fiction
I love this Series! It gives me everything I want in a Romantic-Suspense. It has a hot romance, a great mystery, suspense that keeps you guessing right to the end. Some other elements I love are the warn family portrayals and the everyday humor that these situations bring about. I really want Anna's sisters to find their HEA's also. This is unlike a typical RS in that Anna and Aiden have been the star couple for all three books in the series. I don't know if this will continue or how many other books Rebecca Zanetti plans for this series, but I'm all in.
Anna and Clark are opening their own law practice, but Anna comes to this new firm with a whole lot of baggage and a lot of skill too. Trouble seems to go where ever Anna travels, and one of her biggest troubles is her boyfriend, Adian Devlin, a undercover DEA operative. Just as things are looking good for these two, Adian's ex-girlfriend shows up with a new DEA op and wanting to rekindle things with Adian. Not exactly what Anna wants to hear.
As always, Anna has to deal with a vindictive newspaper reporter who is just gleeful when Anna ends up in a bar fight, a food fight and with a dead body on her poach. Anna and Adian just can't seen to catch a break and when the subject of Adian's op shows up in Anna's office, everyone goes on high alert. Meanwhile, Anna has clients to represent and a interfering Nonna Albertini who is determined for Anna to help her with her matchmaking for Anna's two sisters. Of Course, Anna had to stay alive for all that to happen.
I absolutely love this series and the incredible cast of characters. Anna and Aiden are back with another drama that threatens the relationship they are building. Busy setting up her new law practice, Anna tries to spend as much time as she can with Aiden. Unfortunately, it seems that any time Anna is out something happens; whether it be a bar fight or a dead body on her doorstep. All these happenings end up in the local paper, but it only makes her new practice more popular. Having moved his home base to be closer to Anna, Aiden soon gets a new undercover assignment. This puts Anna in even more danger as she is linked to him. I really enjoyed this story and loved the suspense just as much as the hilarious family interactions. Anna and Aiden are so great together, and their relationship just keeps getting stronger. I laughed out loud at the antics of her family trying to set up her younger sister. The family dynamic is devious and hilarious. This is definitely a must-read.
I love this series and characters soooo much and each book is better than the last. Lawyer Anna is a trip, always getting herself in trouble and Aiden her hot AF ATF agent/MC president boyfriend is always the first to ride in to her rescue, over and over and over. My favorite RS always has a damsel in distress with a good rescue and this had about 4 of them. This is my crack. In this installment Aiden is after a terrorist who deals in bombs and Anna somehow finds herself in the middle of it. Add an agent who introduces herself as Aiden’s wife, What? That right there is the added OW drama that I also love. Please keep this series going with these two and all their sidekicks. I will be first in line for it. 5 stars!
Anna's law firm is taking off but once again danger abounds as an ATF agent is killed and left on her doorstep, considering she was Aiden's ex and had stated she wanted him back Anna is a prime suspect and is arrested. Then Aiden's case leaks over as a bomber starts targeting them to kill him and his team. Once again Anna is hurt and kidnapped but still able to come out the other side.
*****
In this one we get a lot more Aiden and Anna which I love but the situation with the ex was so stupid. I admired Anna's confidence in her relationship but she brushed off the ex situation too easily
I did not like that Aiden was about to go back undercover with her considering the last time they worked together they were hooking up. I'm petty that way.
I thought I'd be bored by now with Anna always in constant danger but I've gotta admit the mystery aspects have got me hooked....I have yet to get a badguy right 😂
All in all some minor annoyances but I'm enjoying this series
Reading this book is like getting a warm hug from a favourite aunt because it leaves this reader with a fuzzy feeling and a smile on my face ! This series just keeps getting better all the time and so far every book has been so completely different to anything else I've read.
The characters are vividly written and so very engaging. Anna is definitely a heroine to cheer for as she's bright, loyal and really incredibly brave although I'm sure her family would say stubborn ! Aiden switches so quickly from being this big tough guy to an absolute sweetheart when he talks to Anna and I feel something in me just melt. The large supporting cast add greatly to the humour with their eccentricities and constant meddling and I might not come from a large family myself but reading this I feel that I've somehow missed out !
The plot kept me guessing although I did slightly guess at something but that's half the fun with a suspense driven story. The romance is rolling along oh so nicely with this couple taking things slow ( although things can go hard and fast if you catch my drift ?). Anna is finding her way as a lawyer and her cases add greatly to the storyline as it makes the small town scenario seem even more real. I won't rehash what happens but will say there's danger, mystery, red herrings and of course hot romance. I am loving everything about these books and with such an ensemble cast of characters can easily imagine that the author could if she wants do spin offs. For now though it's all about Anna, Aiden and I have to say the man that originally connected them because I have no doubts that he will pop up. I will finish by saying if you enjoyed the ahem funeral home scene from the last book get ready for even more mayhem because Anna and her two sisters definitely know how to cream the opposition !
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
In this book, Aiden goes undercover one more time as the president of the Lordes MC in order to bring down a bomber. Anna, of course, gets caught up when his ex is murdered and she's the suspect.
There's nothing sexier than Aiden with a badge clipped to his belt or wearing an ATF jacket, taking charge.
Well, except for smexy times. And there are some good ones.
Between Anna’s cases and Aidens ops, her family and all the side characters this series could go on forever. It has everything you need to keep the pages turning. Suspense, romance, laugh out loud moments and characters you’ll fall in love with. This is the third in the series and although they all revolve around the same main characters they don’t have a cliffhanger vibe each story wraps up nicely in the end. You could stop at anytime, but why would you want to?
The Anna Albertini Files Series :
✅ 1. Disorderly Conduct (2020) - 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ przeczytana 16.12.2025
𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍 - A perfect start to the series, and so funny. Despite all the dangers, I laughed out loud at the actions of our feisty heroine, who seems to have no luck left her. Luckily for her, she has several men around her who care about her. We'll see what happens in the next installment.
✅ 2. Bailed Out (2020) - 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍 -it was a great sequel, the situation thickens, the danger reaches the family and finally we have clarity about Aiden's profession. I liked the fun side. It was a good move on the part of the author to break this tension with a large dose of humor. I like it in my readings.
Of course, I recommend both parts 🤩👍
✅ 3. Adverse Possession (2021) - 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍 -Things are happening, oh so happening, as our heroes face many dangers, including a crazy guy who likes to explode. Luckily, they have each other and the additional support of the ATF SRT agents. The supporting characters also do a great job. And the Elders of both Houses, haha, I love those Ladies.
I love Aiden and his stoic calm and the way he treats Ann. They try to have a serious relationship together, but the past keeps coming back between these crazy two 💞
ATF agent Aiden Devlin and his girlfriend, Anna are trying to figure out this relationship stuff while Anna was working on building up her new law office clientele with her friend, Clarke.
Anna seems to be a danger magnet though and things just keep happening to her. So when Sasha, who is also an ATF agent and ex girlfriend of Devlin's shows up, things start going south right away. Sasha goes under cover inside a motorcycle club and when she's killed a couple of the other old ladies in the club come after Anna. Then there's a bomber that escaped from custody some time back and Aiden is trying to find him to stop any more bombs from going off.
I have to say though that Anna's family is scary funny. Scary in the fact that they will jump right into a fight for Anna and I mean a fist fight. Even Anna's grandmother was willing to pull her wooden spoon out of her purse and knock some woman upside the head all the while donuts and slices of pie are flying every which way.
This is the third book in the series but the first book that I've read in this series but I tend to read out of order all the time. Zanetti knows how to write a compelling story and this one was that and more. So much was happening, so many characters to keep track of and so many twists and funny drama filled scenes that I just wanted to keep reading.
5 stars!
The third Anna Albertini book, and it’s another crazy, exciting, and wildly entertaining ride for Anna and the people in her life. It’s fun and frantic, and I loved every moment of it!
Anna and Clark are finally opening up their own law firm, so she has new (and old) people to help, she’s still being stalked by a journalist who seems to have it out for her, her boyfriend is working a dangerous undercover job trying to find a serial bomber, and now his ex-girlfriend is in town, biker bitches are after her, oh, and she’s just discovered that she’s the lead suspect in a murder case. There’s even an incident with a potato gun! It’s full on, but somehow all of the crazy comes together and it works to create a fantastically fun read that I couldn’t put down.
“I’ve learned the hard way that when I try to protect Anna at arm’s length, I end up getting shot. Or she gets something blown up. Whatever is going on, she knows the full story. Period.”
There is action and excitement, and I laughed-out-loud so many times, wondering how Anna was going to get herself out of her latest dilemma, while also navigating her eccentric family and their dramas and outlandish plots (the matchmaking grannies are hilarious!). And in the middle of the madness, there is a beautiful romance as Anna and Aiden settle into a relationship together at last.
“It’s hard enough making sure you survive your job, and under no circumstances will I allow my job to put you in danger. You’re mine … Right inside me, and you have to stay safe.”
The big badass is there for his girl through everything, supporting and protecting her, and so many scenes in this book had me swooning. There are also big, kickass moments where Aiden storms in to save the day (be still my heart), and tender moments to keep the romantic in me satisfied, and of course, there’s a nice amount of steamy time. They are committed and functional, and I love their relationship so much!
“At the end of the day, at the end of any day, Aiden Devlin will choose me.”
Her nostrils flared. “And why is that?”
… “Because I chose him.”
Characters introduced earlier in the series continue to play a big part, and I’m loving how they have their own stories going on, all intertwined with Anna and her unpredictable life. I’m fully entrenched in this series, and can’t wait to see where the next book takes us.
So much fun, I loved it! 5 stars.
I am being nice giving this book 4 stars, because the first half was more of a 2 to 3 star read. I really enjoyed the second half though. I am really invested in the Aidan and Anna relationship; they're great together. I also love the excitement of the life or death stuff. I prefer when this series has a more serious tone, rather than the slapstick "comedy". Anytime Anna gets into a stupid OTT wacky situation it just makes me role my eyes; it's far from funny IMO. So we have a book where Anna is a suspect in a murder case, but she still has time to set up her sister with a Nick (that subplot is getting extremely old) and talk boys with Kelsey (Kelsey was annoying in the last book, and she is just around too much in this book. I kept wanting her to just go away). An example of the odd changes in tone - we have a couple of women trying to kill Anna on two different occasions (guns and car wrecks are involved), and then the same women attack Anna and her family with cakes in pastries in another cartoonish scene. Seriously. So my critique of books 1 and 2 still stand, this book can be good if it fixes on the serious tone, with a few jokes thrown in, rather than these ridiculous silly scenes that don't fit with murder.
The other thing that really made me angry with this book is how badly Anna is treated by people and doesn't care. This was also obvious in the last book, when Anna was suggesting going on a girls' holiday with a woman who ruined her career (and also turned out to be a murderer). In this book Anna is almost killed by about 4 different people, who she either feels sorry for them being dead or for getting in trouble. Don't feel bad for them; they tried to kill you! I don't care it they only meant to scare or hurt her, they could have killed her. I like a protagonist with a heart of gold (I always use Kate Daniels as an example), but not a weak character who never gets mad. Anna rightly gets mad at Aidan in this one, but never really gets mad at other horrible people. A bodyguard who was terrible at his job, a girl who threatens her with a gun, a guy who wanted to hurt her; she just feels bad for them. Even when she could potentially go to prison for murder, the ATF refuse to help because it could ruin their case. The Jolene thing probably made me the maddest though. How can her cousin get with Jolene and then just say "oh she just writes what makes a good story"? I'm sorry, but she is ruining Anna's livlihood. I really don't like Quint now either. I wish more people were made about this situation.
Anyway, I had a lot of feelings reading this book, mostly anger and annoyance, but I still enjoyed the book. I will check out book 4.
Anna Albertini is ready to start her own law practice with her friend, Clarke Bunne. She has just discovered that her boyfriend, Aiden Devlin, is an undercover ATF Special Response Team officer and her nosy family is thrilled for her (because that’s so much better than drug-dealing, murdering biker). She’s looking forward to a near future of making plans and settling in to enjoy their new love.
When have we ever known Anna to enjoy safe and stable? Remember what I said in my Disorderly Conduct review? Yep, Danger Magnet. Anna sure gets into a lot of trouble for someone who is trying to stay out of it. Stuff starts happening almost immediately, and Anna gets pulled into Aiden’s next undercover assignment, as well as being part of a reluctant love triangle. With the number of times Anna gets harassed and assaulted as a civilian this looks more like an undercover farce than a highly polished federal law enforcement operation. But, our girl takes it in stride; as resilient, as plucky, and as supportive as ever. She’s like a Timex. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
Once again, Rebecca Zanetti’s writing is fun, fast-paced and delightfully humorous. I just love Anna!! She’s really too good for her own good! I have to admit that I was quite upset with Aiden for all the times that Anna got hurt on his watch. If she weren’t like the Energizer Bunny she would be suffering serious and permanent consequences of his actions (or inactions). The over the top characters and drama typify the “Anna” world and is best enjoyed in the spirit of a Saturday morning cartoon. Grin and have fun!
I absolutely love this series, it is funny, suspenseful and romantic. This book made me laugh, cry and curse a little. I love everything Rebecca Zanetti writes but this series is near and dear to my heart. I don't think I've read a book that makes me live the book not just read it. 5 Stars and I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Adverse Possession is the third book in The Anna Albertini Files series, and while I’ve enjoyed them all so far, this one has become my favorite. Anna once again finds herself in trouble, this time being accused of murdering her boyfriend’s ex. Not only is a race against time to prove her innocence before she gets arrested, but when the subject of Aiden’s latest investigation shows up in Anna’s office, she finds herself being pulled into something Aiden tried hard to keep her away from.
I enjoyed getting to see more of Anna and Aiden’s relationship. Aiden can go from a tough guy to a softie in her presence, but readers also get to see more of his protective side in the book. I like how Anna never backs down though, and she doesn’t let Aiden boss her around. She always stands her ground.
There’s plenty of action, mystery, humorous moments, and twist and turns that will keep readers engaged from the first page to the last. While you may be able to read this as a standalone, it works much better if you read the series in order. The series as a whole is a fun read, so I definitely recommend going back and reading the others if you haven’t already.
While Anna Albertini is particularly unlucky because practically everyone wants to kill her, she is also extremely lucky because no one succeeds. In this third volume of the series, when things should have calmed down a bit, there is a series of adventures for our protagonist, which have tired even me, who had only to read them. As usual the secondary protagonists help and at the end of the book, which I devoured, what is completely lacking in credibility was made up for in fun.
Anna Albertini, se da una parte é particolarmente sfortunata, perché praticamente tutti vogliono ucciderla, dall'altra é estremamente fortunata, perché nessuno ci riesce. In questo terzo volume della serie, quando le cose dovrebbero essersi leggermente tranquillizzate, si susseguono una serie di avventure per la nostra protagonista, che hanno stancato anche me che le ho solo lette. Come al solito i protagonisti secondari aiutano e alla fine del libro, che ho divorato, quello che manca completamente dal punto di vista della credibilitá, l'ho recuperato nel divertimento.
Adverse Possession puts me in a very awkward position.  Now when I am asked which is my favorite Rebecca Zanetti series, how do I decide between Deep Ops and Anna Albertini?
Honestly, with the first book in this series, Disorderly Conduct, I liked the characters introduced and I was interested in where the story arc was going but I wasn't desperate to get my hands on the next book. With the release of Bailed Out, I was becoming pretty invested in the characters and how everything was unfolding. After reading Adverse Possession, I am checking release schedules to find out when I can get my hands on the next book.
I was trying to write this review to discuss this book without hitting too many spoilers but it is impossible so instead I am going to discuss what I like about the series.
In Adverse Possession, Anna Albertini has left the prosecutor's office and is opening up her own law firm with Clark Bunne.   Clark is the perfect straight man to Anna's frazzled chaos. Changing sides to the defense definitely opens up the possibilities for more interesting cases while going up against her former boss Nick Basanelli and Detective Grant Pierce, who Anna has already built relationships with even if they aren't always positive interactions.  These relationships will be especially important when Anna finds a body on her front porch and winds up as the prime suspect.   They know that Anna can't seem to keep out of trouble but even they would find it impossible to  believe Anna is cold-blooded killer.
"Has there been a detective assigned to this case yet?" I held my breath.
"Yeah. Detective Pierce is on it." Bud said. "Somehow he always gets stuck with your situations." Then he drew himself up and looked tall as well as beefy. "I didn't mean it like that."
Geez. Get a guy shot once, and he never lets it go.
Anna is officially dating Aiden Devlin, who was her hero from childhood.   Only a few years older, but it was Aiden who rescued Anna when she as abducted as a child.  Their mutual attraction when reunited at the beginning of the series was palpable and just like Anna, I was doing everything I could to make Aiden, the leader of the local motorcycle club known to running drugs and guns,  a "good guy."   And while their romantic relationship is still pretty new, they are both very focused on it.   In the first two stories, Aiden kept a lot of secrets from Anna, especially since she worked for the prosecutor's office.  I liked that Aiden has learned his lesson and won't keep Anna in the dark, no matter how much he wants to protect her from the truth, and we don't have any of those "misunderstandings" which ruin a perfectly wonderful romance if only someone has just said something.
"I've learned the hard way that when I try to protect Ann at arm's length, I end up getting shot. Or she gets something blown up. Whatever is going on, she know the full story. Period."
Even though Aiden won't keep secrets from Anna, he continues to try his best to protect Anna physically, but Anna still manages to find herself in the middle of trouble. Especially after everything that happened in Bailed Out, I was starting to wonder if Anna needs to wear a helmet whenever she leaves her house since she ends up in the hospital so often with a concussion and I had to laugh when not half a page later, Anna was wondering that same thing herself.
"Maybe I should start wearing a helmet all the time."
"Believe me, I've though about that."
We also get to know Anna's very close family and  with family barbeques every Sunday it gives us an excuse to spend time with them often.   In this story, we meet cousin Quint, who will have his own novella later this year.   Anna also spends a lot of time with her two older sisters: Tessa and Donna.  In the prior stories, Anna mentioned to one of her grandmothers that she noticed an attraction between  her sister, Tessa, and her (former) boss Nick Basanelli.   Her grandmothers are now determined to play matchmaker and set up Tessa and Nick and have even brought Nick's grandmother into the plan.
"I'm tired of you taking so long.  She's single, you're single, and you're obviously attracted to each other."
Nonna nodded vigorously.  "Anna told us you two kind of flirted, so why not?"
Nick swung his gaze to me. "You did what?"
I sucked in air. Saying anything like that to our grandmothers was akin to waving a red flag at an angry bull.  "It wasn't like that." Oh, it was exactly like that.
There are so many things to love about the Anna Albertini series and with Anna's new job, the series is open to all kinds of exciting possibilities for storylines.   Now only six more months to wait until the September release of Santa's Subpoena.
Anna is a trouble magnet, which makes reading these books fun! She does have a good heart and tries really hard to help people, which makes her being a lawyer a perfect fit for her. As she opens her new practice Anna does the right thing for her clients, which may not always be the best business decision, like the divorce couple, but it's the best for the people. It's a good thing that Clark is a good, go with the flow guy, perfect in a business partner, because Anna seemed to challenge that again and again through out this one.
Anna's romantic life was a bit bumpy in this one. Things are good with Aiden, but his job started to cause issues, issues that came at Anna fast. In the end everything was cleared up, but Anna went through a lot to get there.
Loved everything about this book and, in fact, this series. Once I started reading this book I couldn't stop and read it on the day I received it! I love Anna and Aiden - the chemistry is real - and their interaction keeps you involved throughout their trials. Anna's family is quirky and I honestly wish I had her grandmother in my life...not to mention her sisters, cousins and extended family. The twists and turns keep you on edge and trying to see where things are headed...needless to say her life is not quiet and peaceful but always interesting.I even had a couple of laugh out loud moments - I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Lots of action and adventure with a hot romance. This is the best one of the series so far. Anna is juggling her relationship with Aiden and dead bodies keep appearing in her life. She is considered a suspect or possibly a witness but the police are keeping an eye on her to find out why someone is leaving the bodies and incriminating her.
Anna just keeps getting better! The humor, the romance, the action--and the delightful family craziness--is out in full force in Adverse Possession. Zanetti is one of those authors who can knock it out of the park every. Single. Time. I read a TON, and yet she almost always gets me with her twists.
If you like to laugh while you read a smart heroine (who arguably has some bad luck, though in the most hilarious of ways!) then this series is for you. Aiden is a swoony male lead and watching him and Anna as their relationship develops is both heart warming and heart pounding.
I'm convinced no one can write the wonderful amalgamation of romance, action, mystery, and humor better than Zanetti. Pick up this series, you won't regret it!
