This is a decent book for someone who is new to the tech industry. There was nothing revolutionary here in the writing especially around DDDN (Data Driven Digital Network). If you are deep in the tech industry, all of this should seem very obvious especially if you are in go to market. This book however does do a good job in putting some frameworks in place to assess how companies should look at capturing new markets and on growth. The frameworks can definitely be helpful for planning sessions and for workshops.
Overall, I'd give it a 3/5 but probably deserves a 4/5.
I would love to see how Ray has changed his perspective (or not) with the evolution of web3.0 and decentralization coming into picture recently.

If you’re into business books, this is one of the most current and interesting reads out now. Ray Wang has some interesting points about Data Driven Digital Networks and how business competition has evolved. And yes, where has all the R&D gone? Final reminder: you are the business. Your data is shaping the world whether you know it (or approve it) or not.

Can business books be boring when they talk about the future of business with new technologies? In fact, most business books are downright boring.

And this one, where the author spends his time "predicting" things that according to what will happen according to his "interpretations" of reality, is one of the worst I've ever seen.

If you don't know anything about digital business, it might give you some ideas, but overall I feel like I asked for the time.

I know Ray Wang (from the Social CRM period of the early 2010's), so my read of his book is personal, not a general read. Everybody wants to rule the works looks at what the companies who control the data in the world and are likely to "rule the world".

The basic premise of the book about a DDDN future is decent and backed by some good explanations. I had to stop midway though as I got disinterested because of not seeing much value in the proposed winning strategies covered in the 2nd half.

Periaatteessa ihan kiinnostavia asioita, mutta kirjan tyyli ja kokonaisuus ei oikein nostanut tätä kummoisemmaksi kokonaisuudeksi. Kolme tähteä rimaa hipoen.

Kind of sloggy in my opinion. Seemed like relatively obvious points about big data and competition with giants

“Digital giants will create more economic value and consumer benefits due to their size, scale, and reach; but we must also understand the cost of those benefits in order to ensure free markets”

👤R “Ray” Wang: Emerging technology and digital business expert. Founder, Chairman and Principal Analyst of Constellation Research Inc. (a research and advisory firm for disruptive business & exponential technology trends).

Meant to cover:
- Understanding power & influence of Data-Driven Digital Networks (DDDN)
- Extreme consolidation & its impact towards value chain
- Strategies made by innovative companies in adjusting to new reality
- Transforming biz into market leader
- Understanding regulatory framework & its reverberation

✔️overview of the current reality ✔️building/competing digital giants ✔️actionable strategies & policies

• How business world is changing
changes in playing field, emergence of digital monetisation model

• Puzzle pieces/building blocks needed to grow & ensure biz thrive in digital age.
help leaders understand shifts, build worthy competitors & craft guide-rails to keep up with digital giants and end the duopolies. As mentioned in Galloway’s “The Four” (Amazon, Apple, Facebook, google), are insinuated into everything we do and unavoidable.

• Why does it matter?
The answer’s rooted in the future of your biz and whether or not you would like to survive at least another decade. Digital transformation is not a luxury anymore but a necessity. Incorporating DDDNs for support/networking, to achieve quick + nimble decision making, and creating productive ecosystem.

If you remember how innovations & technological advancement made adv civilisations collapsed, this book definitely made me rethink on the age of duopolies and how it stemmed complexities (gap, division, social/political unrest, etc) that holds the power to make or break a company, market, societies esp in facing abrupt changes. Let’s admit it, we’re accelerating into the digital age as seen at the beginning of the pandemic where we’re kind of forced to adapt to digitalisation/new techs. As someone who works on research in this area, it’s a rec read on the topic. It would be more interesting if the author also discussed on cyber war btwn economies.
