Thanks for the question, Cal. This one is classified as Christian fiction because it is published by a Christian publisher (Thomas Nelson/Harper Collins Christian Publishing). I bring a Christian worldview to whatever I write (because that's part of who I am!), and HCCP has guidelines for what they publish, but apart from that this particular book could be classified more as clean romance (unlike my previous three books, The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck and Wooing Cadie McCaffrey, which each had a strong faith element, and Hadley Beckett's Next Dish, which had a light faith element). There isn't a faith thread written into this particular story. I hope that answers your question sufficiently, but if you have further questions, let me know!(less)

I've spent nearly a decade with this book. A book that takes place over a decade. Coincidence? Yeah, maybe. Regardless, I am SO excited to finally introduce readers to Olivia Ross, as we're all transported to a magical, heretofore untapped era for romantic comedy stories: 2003-2013. :-)
We're going to have so much fun together with this one!

This is such a surprising, twisting, uplifting, entertaining, feel good read! The main character easily resonated with my early thirties when I was struggling screenwriter who was hating her daytime job!
Meet with Olivia Ross who is dreaming of being a scriptwriter, working as a greeting cards writer when the calendar shows us February 4th 2003.

Her path crosses with a struggling actor at a coffee shop and they made a deal: in ten years if they don’t find the love of their lives, they will get m

with a sassy Hallmark-on-speed hook and a winning leading lady, Turner loans her fresh, inimitable voice to her strongest offering yet. A treatise on love and the hope for love paints across a canvas of fate and happenstance and the way life undercuts our expectations only to give us the biggest romantic adventure. Winsome and wise, Turner draws on beloved romantic tropes and infuses her zesty pulse on pop culture to provide a competent and LOL surprising comedy that is doubtless the inspy equiv ...more

This book was written in such a new and unique way! The story centers on February 4th from 2003 to 2013.

The story begins on 2-4-13 with Olivia at the coffee shop Mugs and Shots. She is employed as a greeting card writer but is working on her own screenplay. She meets an unnamed man and vows to meet back on this date in 10 years

Each chapter starts on the following year of February 4th and the reader hears about what has been happening in Olivias life and those around her.

.5 only because I finished it. My gosh this book, I really, really didn’t enjoy it. The premise is really interesting, it spans ten years always landing on the same date. Liv meets a man one day in a cafe when she’s trying to write the next great screenplay. They have a meet cute and agree to meet at the same cafe in 10 years. We follow Liv for the next 10 years through finding out who the man is (a famous actor), heartbreak, friendships and career.

So, I don’t really understand the point

They decide to meet in 10 years and Live will have a written something for him to star in. Each chapter is Feb 4 of a year spanning from 2003 to 2013. We get to see what has and hasn't changed in Liv's life and all of her ups and downs. Throughout the decade Liv struggles with finding herself and even lives abroad for a year. Wow! I flew through this book. I loved it so much. What an incredible slow-burn, decade-spanning journey. I was so invested in this storyline I couldn’t put this book down! Romance, intrigue, fate, destiny, and of epic plot twist. I can’t recommend this enjoyable book enough. What a fantastic read! Five incredible stars!!!!! I loved every character and plot point. The world needs more books like this.

I love Bethany Turner's books. She has the most unique way of presenting her stories. This one takes place on the same date over a 10 year span. It begins with 2 unknowns meeting at a coffee shop with plans to meet again in 10 years. It follows the 10 years of growth and change of Olivia Ross, the main character. Plot Twist is a very accurate title. Loved the book. ...more

I loved Bethany Turner's last book, Hadley Beckett's Next Dish, so I was very much looking forward to Plot Twist. The premise sounded like a lot of fun, the cover is well-designed, and I was trusting in Turner's, so I was pretty excited when I was selected to receive an ARC of this novel. Unfortunately, Plot Twist didn't quite live up to my expectations.

The premise of the novel, as I said, sounds like a lot of fun, and for the most part, it works. The story follows Olivia Ross, greeting card wri

Plot Twist begins with Olivia Ross, aspiring screenwriter, on February 4th, 2003. She meets a handsome, funny man in a coffee shop who also happens to be an actor. They promise to meet again 10 years later, and they are going to make the movie that she writes. From there, we get to see Olivia every February 4th for the next ten years as she works on her screenplay, and we watch her relationships with Fiona, her best friend, and Liam, her...something evolve.

As I have come to expect from Bethany Turner, this book is hilarious in the most bizarre way. If you just suspend disbelief that anyone could be this ill-timed and that so many celebrities would make an appearance in one’s life, then this might be classified as realistic fiction.

It is funny and romantic (sort of, actually a lot of it is romance gone wrong or so many missed opportunities it’s NOT funny). Despite a Christian publisher, this is general fiction, with no Christian references (unless

Plot Twist by Bethany Turner is a great, unique, and entertaining modern romance that kept me interested from beginning to end.

This light, clean romance has a very unique narrative in that we see the life of the main character, Olivia Ross, in a succession of February 4ths starting in 2003 and going on till 2013. She makes a deal with an actor that they would meet up in the same café that they had just met at in 10 years after they both have found their respective successes and join in an endeav

Another super clean romantic comedy from Bethany Turner.

February 4, 2003 starts a comedy of errors for aspiring screenwriter Olivia Ross. Her regular routine of grabbing coffee and working in a local coffee shop is drastically interrupted by men who won’t leave her alone to do her work. A stranger rescues her from the ghastly pick-up lines, and they make a promise to meet in the same spot ten years later with an armload of Academy awards and a fully polished screenplay to produce. I just got approved for this, and the feeling I'm getting is that Netgalley doesn't want me to study, and that's why it's been approving stuff for me.

Well, I'll try my best to hold off this for two more weeks *sighs*

I have to say it, this is Bethany Turner at her best. With sweet but honest characters, this romance is more about Olivia (the heroine) loving herself, about friendship so deep it can get through everything, and yes...the one true love. And George Clooney. But more about Olivia and her journey itself. I absolutely love this story. ❤️

Spring is coming, and every year it brings with her some fun things like seasonal drowsiness and allergies. Nevertheless, it is my favorite season: the weather is just perfect, and I’m super hyped about going out and doing things. I’ve been feeling quite off lately though, and in need for some distraction that the book I was reading didn’t provide. So I decided to do the sensible thing and move to a romance novel instead. The next book in my TBR pile was Plot Twist, by Bethany Turner.

Once upon a time, Olivia (an aspiring playwright) meets an aspiring actor and generally sexy-Irish man in a coffee shop. Although they don’t trade names, Olivia and mystery man make a pact to meet up in exactly 10 years to swap their Hollywood success stories. For the next decade Olivia’s life takes a twist every anniversary of their meeting until one final plot twist when the decade is finished.

I received an ARC of this title via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Ok, so I used to very much be a fantasy only reader, but then I started dipping my toes into a bit more romance, and I won't lie the more "Rom-Com" type of books are one of my favorites in the Romance genre. I was so excited when I got approved for this ARC via NetGalley, because this SCREAMED Rom-Com, and it delivered for the most part.

The whole adage of “Don’t judge a book by its cover” is completely lost on me, and I was so drawn to the graphic design of this book’s cover on Netgalley that I didn’t even read the summary before I requested an ARC of this book.

This book features such an original plot concept that I think Bethany Turner was rather gutsy to write this one. Personally I think that her risk paid off, and she managed to pull it off. But I do think that there are a couple of important details that need to ring true for the reader.
1) He or she needs to be a fan of 90's/early 2000's pop culture. There are quite a few references to television shows and movies. If someone does not enjoy movie stars, they may not appreciate this book. This fact

I've enjoyed Bethany Turner's previous romantic comedies so I was looking forward to Plot Twist as well. The story got off to a good start and had me laughing at the humor that is pure Bethany. I was enjoying the story through chapter four, especially with these honest declarations of truth,

*"You deserve someone whose love for you causes them to be a person worthy of you."
*"And then the tricky thing is going to be convincing you that you're worthy of them."

I'm torn. I loved and hated this book. Loved as in LOVED it and hated it in a it's-not-all-bad sort of way.

As with other remarkable books by Bethany Turner, she sets up a wonderful story in the first chapter. We meet our heroine in a coffee shop (perfect setting) and she meets a guy (swoon.) But then we have to wait a whole year for the next big thing. Then, the next! And all the swoony-ness gets lost in all the waiting.

I think the plot device--having the story occur on the same date every year

Plot Twist takes place over the course of 10 years, following a chance encounter in a coffee shop between an aspiring screenplay writer and a handsome and charismatic struggling actor. Olivia, our narrator, feels a connection with this stranger and they agree to meet again - same date, same place - ten years later, once they have both found success.

Based on the blurb, I was expecting to see the actor play a much bigger role in the novel itself, but actually the plot focuses on Olivia, her relati

I picked up Plot Twist expecting a traditional meet-cute and was pleasantly surprised to find it was so much more. The premise of Plot Twist, on the face, is pretty simple. Olivia, an aspiring screenwriter, meets an aspiring actor in a coffee shop on February 4th. They agree to meet at the same shop in ten years having achieved their career goals. (Such a Hollywood set up.) The story then checks in with her every February 4th for the next 10 years. I expected the story to mainly follow their sto ...more

Did you hear me, Bethany . . . This needs to be a movie! I would pay bucks to see it over and over! This is such a fun and enjoyable book to read! I loved every moment I was in it; so much so, that I didn’t want to put it down! I read it all in one day and then was so upset that I was done, I actually re-read parts of it! There were a few deep relational parts, but oh the fun parts were so worth reading

This was a cute, sweet and heartfelt story with a really interesting premise. One year, Olivia Ross bumps into a struggling actor in a coffee shop and they hit it off. They agree to meet back at that coffee shop in 10 years, by. which time Olivia will have written a screenplay for him. And this is the story of that encounter and the years following that. The chapters are each on that same date in periodic years.

I would say though, don't go into this expecting a super strong focus on the romance.
