A DETESTABLE NAME is a lighthearted romance which delightfully occupied my time on a long rainy day. It's not high literature, and it doesn't aspire to be--yet I was not disappointed. Wonderful.

Very understated, but witty with lots of subtle humour- potent when mixed with compassion and understanding. Amelia’s romance was a little rushed, but not unbelievable. There is lots of real life drama too. It would make a great BBC series made by the producers of the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice.

The Cover: Generic. Nothing grabs me about it. There is a disconnect between the people on the cover, and if I wasn't TOLD this was a romance, I would never guess it.

Granville and Mary come across as supporting characters in their own story.
