Read, Mark, Learn is a group Bible study course developed over a number of years at St. Helen's, Bishopsgate. It covers key questions and themes of Christian belief by studying a whole book of the Bible: teaching those who study the courses to know God's word and purpose for their lives. This course covers 30 studies from Paul's Letter to the Romans - potential material for a year. Each study provides: the context of the passage, its aim, structure and any Old Testament background needed. It looks at the meaning of each section, highlighting key issues and practical application. It also gives suggested questions to enable group leaders to lead a complete study.
Super helpful book that has helped me over the past year to lead a Bible study group through Romans. It gives a short commentary on each section, and is especially helpful in helping the reader to focus on what the main point of the text is, and what applications should be drawn out. Helpful questions are given for group discussion and personal preparation.
Such a privilege to have the explanation of context and potential meanings to the more ambiguous parts of Romans laid out in a methodical manner. In addition it has pushed my thinking much further in terms of meaning and application of the letter. Thanks for all the hard work.
It is a really excellent exposition of Romans, with helpful study questions, background material, and all from a Reformed perspective. The material is simple enough for a leader whose group is comprised of new converts, as well as being refreshing for folks whose knowledge of Romans and of basic doctrines of grace is greater. I think any small group study would benefit from this book. As an aside, the book is published by St. Helen's Bishopsgate church, which is based out of London, England. The materials were developed by their own elders for Bible studies conducted in their congregation.
