When I started reading this book, I really liked the characters. That was the first that drew me into this book. For me, if I can relate to the characters and appreciate them, I'll be instantly sucked into their story and would root for them no matter what. This book was no exception.
I loved Art, the hero. He was the epitome of an alpha male; he was intriguing, mysterious, and protective. The heroine, Sophie really held her own and was not a doormat. After all, who does not love a heroine strong enough to bring the alpha to his knees? The side characters added just the perfect dash of depth to the character of Sophie and Art. The heroine's best friend, Lucy was an amazing wing-woman to have in your corner. I loved how she was the sound of the reason for Sophie when things went south.
Apart from the characters, I thoroughly enjoyed the plot. It was perfectly paced and kept the reader on their toes, anticipating how everything was going to pan out.
Above everything else, the major plot twist was completely unpredictable. I could have never imagined that was going to happen. It left me in a flurry of intense emotions. I had not seen that coming and that made for an epic read.
The cliffhanger left me yearning for the next book and I can't wait to get my hands on it next.

This is my first read by Sallyanne Johnson and it won't be my last!
After reading the blurb, I was drawn in immediately and went in with pretty high hopes. The book did not disappoint!
The characters were likeable from the start, both with strong personalities that shine through in the writing. The story flows beautifully, leading to some sizzling steamy scenes that'll definitely get the blood pumping!
And then we're left hanging... arghhhh!
What a wonderful debut! I'm now impatiently waiting for book 2 and can't wait to find out how the story ends for Sophie and Art.

I am split when it comes to this book. I will start with what I really enjoyed. **May have spoiler**
Art, in the beginning, he was intense with the way he pursued Sophie. It was definitely a turn on. Their first encounter definitely was like watching a tennis match as you can feel the attraction oozing from both Art and Sophie. At times Art came of a bit insecure, but I think it was obsession that he didn’t even know how to handle. Sophie, was strong will even though her last relationship was not good to her. Their chemistry was sexy and I like that Sophie was willing to explore new things.
Where I was spilt, with a title, Dark Desires, I was expecting more of a darker feel. Honestly, towards the end of the climax to this story, Art became really dark as he was falling apart. He was nice majority of the book. I can see a title, obsessive desire, because that is how Art was becoming, obsessed with Sophie.
Secondary characters, starting with Lucy, Sophie’s best friend. I really am curious as to what’s going on in her relationship, it has caught my interest. Tanya, **massive eye roll** you’ll see why when you read the book.
Overall, I was still enthralled with the story between Art and Sophie as it wet my appetite with the appetizer and look forward to the main course with continuing their story with that dramatic ending.

I loved this book from start to finish!

I don't believe in leaving spoilers but I loved Sophie and Art's dynamic. The domineering alpha male with a feisty female who gives him a run for his money - what's not the love? Their chemistry is hot as hell with steamy scenes to match!

I am a newbie by this author but when I read the blurb for Dark Desires I knew I had to read it! And man I flew right through this intense story.
Art and Sophie let’s just say their chemistry was off the charts sizzling hot. So much happens in this book that I am so glad that this is only book 1 of this trilogy because I definitely need more!!

Dark Desires is a well-written romance filled with plenty of heat and a touch of mystery too. Art is gorgeous, charismatic, successful and wealthy. The kind of guy who can have anything he wants and he wants Sophie. Unlucky in love Sophie is the beautiful wedding planner at the manor Art has just inherited. The chemistry is explosive but will she take a leap of faith and take a chance on Art?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and even though Art and Sophie’s relationship takes off swiftly the character development aids in the believability. Art is so steadfast in his resolve to have Sophie that it truly felt inevitable that Sophie would fall. It just seems that neither of them expected to fall as fast or as hard. Mixed in with the good dose of heat the author delivered was a touch of mystery with both characters appearing to have a few skeletons in their closets that they weren’t forthcoming in sharing. Even now I think there’s a whole lot more to Art than meets the eye and I’m excited to find out more. I’m really excited for book 2 in the series to see where the author takes this relationship and storyline. A strong debut!

Sallyanne Johnson is a new author for me and knowing that her second novel in the Black series is due to release in March, I thought that it would be best to get started with reading the first novel, however I started far too soon and I regret it.
In just 24 hours, I read the entire novel and now I am gutted because I have been left to hang with the giant cliffhanger until March.
Dark Desires well and truly captivated me from start to finish, and it was just a story that I evidently could not put down. From the moment that I started to read the first few lines of the first chapter, I knew that I would be hooked completely and I was.
It's such an easy read and is certainly one that you need to keep mentally telling yourself to read one more chapter.
Sophie Ward, a dedicated wedding planner is passionate about her job, and is a perfectionist when it comes to ensuring that all events run smoothly at the Gladstone Country Manor, that is until the new owner and her new boss, Art Black wheelspins into her life.
Facing him head on, Sophie shuts Art and his cocky, arrogant persona down but she finds it hard to shut out the feelings that he stirs deep within her.
Art Black, a ridiculously handsome and wealthy entrepreneur who exudes control, uses it to his advantage to get whatever he wants. He is a man who knows what he wants and as soon as he claps his eyes on her, Sophie is the one he wants.
With his heartbreak vibe, Sophie fights her feelings towards Art but is unsuccessful and claims defeat. With their steamy relationship developing quickly, Sophie still has more to learn about Art although he isn't very forthcoming with giving her information but, is he really the man that she thinks he is when the secrets start revealing themselves.
With heartbreak on the horizon, and knowing her survival rate is zero, Sophie decides to run but is it the right decision?
Throughout the story, I felt really connected with the characters and I felt like I was there in the story with them.
As much as a control freak that he is, I absolutely love Art and I am only intrigued to find out more about him, and the reason as to why he is like he is.
I also love Sophie and her strong character, and I'm proud of everything that she has overcome previously to Art. I love her confidence and sass, and how she stands up against Art. She oozes empowerment.
I'm absolutely in love with this storyline to the point that I have been in a book funk since finishing it.
I only wish that I savoured every bit of it but I couldn't help myself.

The story of Art and Sophie is good. it pulls you in and leaves you wanting to read more.
Sophie has been out of an abusive relationship for 3 years. a relationship she doesn't like talking about that leaves her unable to trust easily. Art is a cocky businessman who finally gets told no by Sophie. she intrigues him and they both fight it but can't help the way they feel. the electricity between them is undeniable and they find themselves wrapped up in each other very quickly. the story has a few twists and turns towards the end and takes the story on a whole different journey than you expect.
for me, this was a good read but was very close to The This man series of books in which I have read which kind of took the shine off the full effect for me. however that aside and taking that completely out of the picture it was a good book and I would read more of Art and Sophie's story.

I loved the story, the sex, the romance, the kink, however, it did give me serious 50 shades vibes in some points which I wasn't overly into! Yet the main character Sophie was the saviour, I love her, she's strong willed and happy to tell a bloke to fuck right off! I'm all for that!
I even loved the cliffhanger ending, made it very easy to start on the second installment, Dark Heart! 🖤

Dark Desires by Sallyanne Johnson is everything you want in a dark romance. An intense and controlling, dark and broody man who finds himself being vulnerable with a sassy but broken woman. Undeniable chemistry meets secrets they both hide. Will love save them? IDK! Guess I need to wait for the next book (coming soon though!!!)

Art has a dark and mysterious souls. Sophie has just come out of a troubling relationship and doesn’t plan in going out with a man anytime soon.. but once their eyes meet, the sexual tension is too strong to be denied.
Dark Desires is the first book in the saga which will see Sophie and Art as protagonist, it’s a steamy and passionate relationship the one the two of them share, but even tho they both start falling for each other and the sex is great, there is a small voice in the back of Sophie’s mind warning her to don’t trust the hot Italian mess that has invaded every inch of her soul and body.
Fast pace, raw love story and the passion have been the elements which stand out the most while reading Sallyanne’s work. If you have enjoyed Fifty Shaded for sure you will love this book, as it has really similar elements.
And in my opinion the author had done a great job with the ending as it will leave you wanting to read the next book to know if love can actually overcome any issue.

He is immediately attracted to her, but he has secrets. This book is an emotional and steamy read which has intriguing characters. It ends in a cliffhanger.

As I have explained before, I typically stick to thrillers and mysteries/suspense novels but Dark Desires has it all: romance AND suspense. Sallyanne Johnson even threw in a couple of unforeseen plot twists that I loved. I’m currently experiencing a book hangover like no other (but thank god book two will be released in March 2021).
The characters are mostly developed. I say mostly because Sophie and Art continue to hide secrets. Both are untrusting towards other people. Sophie’s lack of trust and insecurity are the product of an abusive, cheating, lying ex-boyfriend. I am not quite sure of the story behind Art’s untrusting nature. Regardless, these two fall head over heels for each other. Sallyanne Johnson did an exceptional job of describing the raw emotions of this relationship so much so that it’s easy for the reader to feel them too. The relationship grows until one of Art’s major secrets are revealed. Will their fierce love for one another overcome this obstacle? Only time will tell when book two is released.
This fun, quick read pulled me in from page one. I found each page exciting to read and I did not want to put it down (especially those steamy scenes 😉). I found myself reading this book whenever I could if only for a brief minute or two. I highly recommend this book regardless if you are a romance fan. It is easily one of my favorite books I have read this year.

WOWW where the heck do i begin... this book had me turning the pages quicker than i could read..Welcome to the world of Sophie & Art. its apart of a trilogy releasing soon! BUT HOLY HELL, that ending has left me speechless & in despereate need of more!!
Sophie is a beautiful women inside and out with a passion for her job as a wedding planner. When where she works is taken over by a new owner, it could only mean one friggin thing right!?!
Well meet Mr Art Black, he is dark & mysterious, broody, HOT & a domineering alpha! What's there not to love?!
Art has a persona in place and is fiercely protective off Sophie. Which i adore in a dominant alpha male, he definately has a softer side which im dying to see more off throughout the books. LADIES & GENTS hold on tight because holy hell he definitely gets your heart racing!!(you'll defo need a cold shower after- PHEWWW).
Sophie's best friend Lucy reminds me of my best friend, loyal, a tease and commical. Their friendship is captured perfectly throughout the book and is everything a girl needs in their best friend!
That friggin ending wow, my heart snapped, the fast beating and tears fell for Sophie but also for Art! Let's be real we've all been in that situation!? I'm dying to read the next book to see how this transpires!

I read this book last weekend and got sucked in immediately. This is book one of the Black series.
Art Black, an alpha male who imprinted on his female at first sight. He is obnoxious with flirtatious advances from the start.
Sophie, a sweet wedding planner who has experience with jerks thanks to her previous boyfriend. She may be sweet but she has enough sass to deal with Mr. Black. That is a rare quality which makes him spin with even more desire.
If you want a hot and steamy read, this book will fulfill that sexual appetite!

This book is absolutely amazing. Art is sexy and obsessed with Sophia as soon as he meets her but he just won’t tell her everything and with her past she isn’t willing to allow the lies. I can’t wait for the second book I wanna see how art digs himself out of the hole he’s dug for himself.

‘Dark Desires’ by SallyAnne Johnson was given to me as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. As I am new to this author, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.
This book gave me real fifty shades of grey vibes, so If you’re looking for a hot and steamy romance, with lots of kink, sex and fire then this book will be for you.
The book is about Sophie Ward, a woman who has escaped the clutches of a tormented ex, and is enjoying life coordinating the happily ever afters of brides and grooms for the hotel she works for. You learn she is beautiful, no longer afraid to stand up for herself, and is determined not to make the same mistakes of her past.
Art is an entrepreneur, he is confident, wealthy but also stern. He waltzes into the hotel where Sophie works, and makes it clear to the staff he is taking over. With Art in the drivers seat, it leaves the staff worried and left contemplating their futures, but Art is very much distracted.
Sophie and Art are a couple who are instantly attracted to one another. Their fiery exchanges and Sophie’s need to challenge and push his buttons, is what makes this book incredibly entertaining. However, Art likes to control, he’s domineering and borderlines on being stalkerish, and he very much doesn’t like anyone looking or even contemplating about touching his things, and he’s very much decided he’d like to own Sophie. She tries her best to resist, to fight against her feelings and to hold her own, but something about Art pulls her in and drags her under.
This book has some interesting twists and turns, and I for one did not expect the shocker of a cliff hanger. Art and Sophie are on fire, non-stop, and their appetite for one another is insatiable. (There may be too many sex scenes for some readers, therefore if you are not into dark/erotic fiction then this book will not be for you.)
Overall I loved the depth of the characters, and found myself extremely intrigued with Art Black. He’s a bit of an enigma and his mystery really captures your attention. I feel there’s so much more to come from him. I also love the intrigue around Lucy and Mark’s relationship, and I’m interested to know if they will feature in the second book releasing in March.
I enjoyed mixing up my reading genres with this book, and I am a sucker for a bad boy alpha, so I think I fell a little bit in love with Art. This book is ideal for those who do enjoy the erotic romance genre, and those who appreciate hotter romance.
This book gave me real fifty shades of grey vibes, so If you’re looking for a hot and steamy romance, with lots of kink, sex and fire then this book will be for you.
The book is about Sophie Ward, a woman who has escaped the clutches of a tormented ex, and is enjoying life coordinating the happily ever afters of brides and grooms for the hotel she works for. You learn she is beautiful, no longer afraid to stand up for herself, and is determined not to make the same mistakes of her past.
Art is an entrepreneur, he is confident, wealthy but also stern. He waltzes into the hotel where Sophie works, and makes it clear to the staff he is taking over. With Art in the drivers seat, it leaves the staff worried and left contemplating their futures, but Art is very much distracted.
Sophie and Art are a couple who are instantly attracted to one another. Their fiery exchanges and Sophie’s need to challenge and push his buttons, is what makes this book incredibly entertaining. However, Art likes to control, he’s domineering and borderlines on being stalkerish, and he very much doesn’t like anyone looking or even contemplating about touching his things, and he’s very much decided he’d like to own Sophie. She tries her best to resist, to fight against her feelings and to hold her own, but something about Art pulls her in and drags her under.
This book has some interesting twists and turns, and I for one did not expect the shocker of a cliff hanger. Art and Sophie are on fire, non-stop, and their appetite for one another is insatiable. (There may be too many sex scenes for some readers, therefore if you are not into dark/erotic fiction then this book will not be for you.)
Overall I loved the depth of the characters, and found myself extremely intrigued with Art Black. He’s a bit of an enigma and his mystery really captures your attention. I feel there’s so much more to come from him. I also love the intrigue around Lucy and Mark’s relationship, and I’m interested to know if they will feature in the second book releasing in March.

The story of Art and Sophie is good. it pulls you in and leaves you wanting to read more.
Sophie has been out of an abusive relationship for 3 years. a relationship she doesn't like talking about that leaves her unable to trust easily. Art is a cocky businessman who finally gets told no by Sophie. she intrigues him and they both fight it but can't help the way they feel. the electricity between them is undeniable and they find themselves wrapped up in each other very quickly. the story has a few twists and turns towards the end and takes the story on a whole different journey than you expect.
for me, this was a good read but was very close to The This man series of books in which I have read which kind of took the shine off the full effect for me. however that aside and taking that completely out of the picture it was a good book and I would read more of Art and Sophie's story.

I'm not going to lie, I hated Art Black in the beginning. He's arrogant and controlling and he gives off this general sense of entitlement. I found myself wishing that Sophie would just slap him already.
But Art soon shows a softer side. He helps her our of a dire situation in an almost sweetly awkward way, still pushy but it starts to feel like his façade is slipping and at that point I was curious to see who Art Black really is.
I want to avoid spoilers in this review as much as possible, so I'll just leave that there and say that Art and Sophie had great chemistry and this book certainly has its fair share of steam. And that cliffhanger! Oh my god!

3.5 stars which may turn into 4 when book two hits.
I stewed on this review for weeks. This is Sally’s debut and her writing and style is fantastic, I’m just not sold on Art yet. He hasn’t won my love YET. We still have two books to go.
I love dark & deliciously twisted love stories. I do not love controlling and obsessive. An alpha in the sheets? Yes, please. Protective nature? Yes, please. Telling me what to wear? Fuck right off. That gives me Grey feels and he’s the absolute worst man ever written.
Sophie & Art have fantastic chemistry but I’m going to need him to get his head out of his ass. Sophie left a relationship where she was under a man’s thumb, I don’t like feeling like she traded that for a different cage, even if it’s pure gold.

Addictive!
I could not put this down! The sexual tension in the first few chapters is addictive. It’s written in a way that draws you in and keeps you hooked.
Sophie is feisty but inwardly insecure making her realistic and loveable as the main character. Art is just hot, with his brooding looks and his ‘easy smile’ and oh my the chemistry between them!
If you want some seriously sexy steam between your pages then this writer gives you exactly that! It’s graphic without being gratuitous and the author has created the perfect mix of sexy and sweet love.
The second book can’t come fast enough for me 🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️

Dark Desires by Sallyanne Johnson is an erotic romance about Wedding Planner, Sophie Ward, and wealthy, successful entrepreneur, Art Black.
I enjoyed the steaminess at first, and I overlooked the minor control issues Art had, but as the story went on, it felt less like playful control in the bedroom and more like emotional abuse and manipulation.
I think control can be fine, so long as it’s done in a healthy way. Unfortunately, I don’t think this story was healthy and it gives a bad impression of what women should expect in a relationship.
This story wasn't for me.

Sophie is a wedding planner for a beautiful hotel in England currently suffering from absent management. She has lived the last 3 years of her life picking up the pieces of her broken life from an emotionally abusive relationship with a man who turned up the charm, but quickly devolved once the relationship became serious. She vows never to let a man control her again.
Art Black is a young businessman, entrepreneur, owner of the popular Black Fitness, and keeper of dark secrets. He comes into Sophie’s life as the new owner of the hotel Sophie works in and she’s immediately repulsed by his arrogance but turned on by his body. He’s relentless in his pursuit and vows to have her.
The romance scenes are flaming and will definitely have you squirming in your seat, shifting your eyes about if you’re in public. There’s some light S&M and enough mystery in these characters’ lives that have you curious to know more. I’m personally not a fan of overly alpha males like Art that are too pushy, too “protective,” and too controlling. I know many readers enjoy that kind of thing though so if you are, Art is all of the above and then some!
Everything about this story was great. My only turn off was Art’s “alpha maleness” because it was a little intense at times, borderline toxic but Sophie isn’t that much of a pushover (just a little bit) so she can hold her own against him.
To top it all off, the author left this story on a MASSIVE cliffhanger that we will have to wait for in March and I am totally eager to read more on these two!

New author, first book, solid start. Sophie has just ended a bad relationship and vows never again. Art is her new boss and a dominating control freak, who has Sophie in his sights. The relationship tension between these is compelling, the chemistry intense, the book's pace was great. The characters were interesting and well written. This was a page turner and I'm looking forward to more from Sallyanne Johnson. Solid first effort.

This book was amazing! This is the first book I've read by author Sallyanne Johnson but I will be reading more of her books in the future. I couldn't get enough of this book or the characters. This is the first book of The Black Series. Art Black and Sophie Ward were great characters. Kudos to Johnson on this original, erotic romance that will leave you breathless! This book is a must read and I highly recommend!

Sophie has had some rough relationships, and she says she will not get involved again. Enter Art Black dominating and obsessive and he has his eyes set on Sophie. They are very intrigue together. Will Sophie survive another heartache. I enjoyed this book and the dialog between Sophie and Art. This book has secrets and obsessions. I loved it and cannot wait for book two. It was dark and for adults. This is just a great and engaging story. I am hooked and am waiting for the next book.

Since this is the first book I read of this author I was sceptical at first but as I started reading more and more I began loving the characters and their chemistry. The writing style was also good and very descriptive just how I prefer to read.

A well crafted story that had me from the moment he entered the story. He was dominating and extremely fascinating in his alpha maleness. It was a great story with a wonderful cast of characters - even the supporting cast some of who were easy to dislike.
