Had to read this several years ago for some library retreat (see http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...) and I just stumbled across some reflections I jotted down at the time.
An awful lot of people are making an awful lot of money dishing out what amounts to either common sense or drivel. Here the author requires almost 300 pages to state what could have been said in 5 to 10. If this is an example of what passes for substantive executive training than heaven help us. Borrow the book from a library if you must, skim a couple of the pages and you'll have all of it. Don't waste your money.
This extraordinary book describes itself as “a Step-by-Step Guide to Discovering, Developing, and Living Your Passion.” Chang is the CEO of Richard Chang Associates, a Ph.D. in organizational psychology and involved in both coaching and strategic planning. He introduces the theory that true (capital “P”) Profit comes from becoming a “passioneer,” maximizing your contribution and satisfaction. Excellent examples of individuals working through the seven steps of the process, with practical and insightful worksheets after each chapter. An excellent read for those who seek to become a product of their own passions.
If you're ever at a lull, and thinking "how did I get here?" read this book, or at least crack it open a look at a few of the checklists. This book attempts to help readers look into their desires and then work toward them. After perusing it, I envisioned myself writing a book on jewelery-making. I'd say it's empowering.
I needed to read this and it came at the best possible time. I was in my final year of my undergraduate study and was losing motivation for everything until this book; I rekindled the flame w things I loved and honestly it helped to put my life in perspective.
