He’ll do anything to save a young girl’s life. She’s a runaway who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Can a carjacking turn into a partnership that will redeem them both?

I may be an asshole, but I’d never intentionally hurt an innocent.
I had to steal her car, though.
To save someone I swore to protect.

I’ve screwed up enough times to turn my life into a wreck.

** Arc received in exchange for an honest review **
I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

After reading The Runaway I was curious to see what would happen in The Fighter. The Runaway ends with a hint of what is happening with Deeks and I was looking forward to this story. The Fighter follows a new couple namely Deeks and Kena and how they meet and grow closer. There also is a suspense/ danger element again.

Unlike what I expected the story starts a lot earlier than that scene we get at the end of the Runaway. I felt th

The Fighter by Jordan Ford is EXACTLY what a YA Contemporary Romance is supposed to be like. Sensual, yet clean. Emotional, yet uplifting. And brutally honest in plot and love.

I should really have different rating scales for romance genres. Is this a 5 star on the same level as a dark, adult romance? Not at all. BUT for a book written in the heart of the YA genre, it was spot on, 100% perfect in every aspect. The character growth, the plot development, the sweet romance. I was HOOKED from the op

Jordan Ford has done it again. Beautiful love, major problems to overcome and a great ending. I loved book one but I think book two is even better. I ADORED every single second of this book. I just kept turning page after page, not breathing, waiting to see what happened. This author knows how to pull you in and keep you hooked. It's definitely 5 stars for this story and it definitely needs to be on your TBR list now!! I can't wait for the next.

Recommends it for: Romance fans
Just like the first book, this was absolutely addicting. I never wanted to put it down, which resulted in a severe lack of sleep, but a finished book. The characters were compelling, and I loved the romance. I might’ve actually enjoyed the first book a bit more, but I still really loved this one!

The Fighter follows Deeks, the brother Michael was separated from years ago. Since then, Deeks has joined a gang, and cage fights for money. During an attempted escape from his gang, he steals Kena’s ca

This one was emotionally exhausting...all the 'feels' I loved it.
The next Barrett boy to come home is Deeks. I enjoyed all the backstories that come through in these stories as well as the here and now. The thoughts and words from their Grandpa still in their minds.
Kena has gone through her own personal hell, on the cusp of womanhood her life is ripped out from under her as she becomes an orphan.
He's trapped in the world of illegal fighting and so much more. I was glued to my kindle as the final

***4 Stars***

After finishing the epilogue in The Runaway, I knew I’d be making grabby hands at The Fighter because I NEEDED to know just what the hell happened and how things would work themselves out and I have to say that I wasn’t disappointed. Kena and Deeks story was definitely a rollercoaster of a ride that kept me turning the pages until the very end.

I really liked Kena and Deeks. Kena has had her world crash around her and she is struggling. But even with everything going on, she stil

4 1/2 Stars for the adventure packed romance.

Deeks ... I couldn't help but love him. Even though he was a fighter, he was this sweet guy who had a big heart. I loved how he looked out for Jade and was totally in love with Arley. The author really portrayed Arley like the cute 2-year-old she was. Although Deeks was good guy, Kena didn't know that and I thought she was overly trusting of him after he car-jacked and robbed her. But I guess she was a broken girl who sensed the connection with the br

This book comes out soon, make sure you pick it up because you will not be disappointed. The continued story of the Barrett boys is not something you want to miss. Jordan Ford has a way of sucking you into her stories and making you root for these characters from beginning to end. This story was sweet, suspenseful, entertaining, addicting, and I just cannot wait for the next installment.

Firstly, it must be noted that these covers are fantastic. This series had me hooked from the get go. I loved Michael and Annie's story in The Runaway, it set the scene for the return home of the five long lost brothers. The Barrett Boys are a bunch of lost boys, orphaned in their teens and separated for years living lives on the edge doing what they need to in order to survive. Deeks is the fighter, always protecting those he loves with his fists, in order to survive, he joined a gang and fight ...more

Jordan Ford has done it again, I absolutely loved this book! Not only is there action, there is also suspense, captivating drama, and unexpected twists in the plot that left me stunned. The characters are intriguing, and well written, plus they are realistic and clever. In this book Deeks has lost his friend and is determined to save a young girl from his boss, a gang leader. I really enjoyed the glimpses in Deeks' past, and his memories of the grandfather he loved. Kena Chan is leaving home whe ...more

I really enjoyed reading Deeks and Kena's story. I was so routing for Deeks. He is a tough man that doesn't take anyone's crap no matter what. But at the same time, he is beautifully broken. Kena sees that in him and for some reason is drawn to him. A little twist of fate brings these two together when Deeks' life gets turned upside down. What will happen to Deeks and Kena? Can they get out of this mess?

A good book if you like the stranger to friends to lovers type of books. I liked how these t

This book was AMAZING!!! It has quickly become my favorite in the series (and yes, I know there are only two books so far). The Fighter is all about Deeks and what he has been up to since being separated from his brother Michael. His overall character development is outstanding! I loved all the flashbacks to the ranch and his time with his Grandpa. As someone who spent a lot of time learning life lessons from my Grandpa, this book took me down a road of nostalgia and gave me all the feels. Not o ...more

The fighter is an amazing read!! It’s the second book of the Barrett Boys Series and I’m hooked. Since the beginning I couldn’t put the book down. This YA book will have you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what will happen next. I love how each book I’m learning more about the personalities of each brother. The fighter is based on Deacon (Deeks) and Kena’s story, where an unexpected encounter happened that lead to a mission. This book is full of suspense, adventure, and compassion, with ...more

It’s hard to stop reading a book that gets its hooks in you and doesn’t let go. In fact, I’m having a little trouble trying to read something else having just finished this book. In this book we follow Deeks and Kena. Both have tragic pasts and 1 common thing. But they have to learn to open up.

Jordan Ford has written many book, and I have read many of them. This one however, is by far my favorite. Every time I read her work, the writing is better than the last. She knows how to keep you interest

I thought this book was even better than the first. Kena and Deeks shared since an intense pull of attraction that it was beyond easy to feel. The emotions run thickly throughout this well written tale and they will seriously have you engaged and feeling invested. Some couples just work on every level and honestly, that it how I felt about these two. They were made for each other on the most cellular level. A very enjoyable read. This is my frank, freely posted review.

This story thoroughly pulls you in and keeps you turning the pages. Deeks and Kena were so good for each other. I can't imagine making some of the choices Kena does to stay with and help Deeks, but given her own emotional turmoil, it works for the story. I look forward to reading about the other brothers as well. This story has some swearing, but not gratuitous. ...more

Deeks has been fighting for his life since the first time his father hurt her mother. Can he fight his last fight in order to save a little girl he must protect? Kenna’s heart is been ripped from her chest the moment her parents died. She needs to run away in order to find herself again. Can Deeks and Kenna help each other and find happiness and love again? A great and emotional story

Another brilliantly written book. In this story, a boy with a temper becomes a man who wants to protect those he loves. However, he has fallen in with an unscrupulous man who uses him like a pet pit bull. Can he escape with his loves or will he be forever haunted by his violent past?
