The last thing she needs is a standoffish alien complicating her life… Before her sister Hazel mated an Ezak-X, Shea had never given the aliens much thought. But after a nasty divorce left her and her daughter Lila in need of a major change, they move to Space City. Now, it’s impossible not to notice the Ezak-X – well, one in particular.
Her tall, muscular neighbor takes the “strong and silent type” to the extreme. In fact, he’s never said a word to her. But when car trouble threatens Shea and Lila’s Christmas trip to visit family, the beastly, quiet neighbor steps in to help.
He makes Shea yearn for something more. But Lila will always be her priority. And after her cheating ex, Shea’s doubtful she can trust a man again – least of all a sexy Ezak-X who seems to have no interest in her.
So why can’t she get him out of her head?
The female next door drives him crazy… Garr doesn't understand the point in talking, let alone being social. Grunts and a word here and there have suited him just fine. Except when it comes to entering the military. The Alliance psychologist tells him he's too damaged, but Garr just wants to be useful.
Getting a job at a security company is a step in the right direction. But when a new female moves into his apartment complex, his organized life is thrown off balance. Her scent is intoxicating. Distracting. She makes him want things he's never even considered before.
Garr knows that if he wants to keep his life on track, he has to stay far, far away from her. But when the female and her child need help making it to their family for the holidays, he can’t just turn his back on them.
All he has to do is survive this trip without letting her into his head – or his heart. But even for a master of silence and solitude, that’s easier said than done…
Gift of the Beast is a steamy holiday romance set in the Mate of the Beast universe. Complete with a HEA and no cliffhangers.
Sonia Nova is an author of Science Fiction Romance. She loves to write about sexy, dominant alien men and the women who melt their hearts. When she is not writing, she can be found watching sci-fi movies, reading, and dreaming of her very own alien hunk!
The silent one This book has the perfect strong, silent male who is not quite broken by his past, and throws him with a sassy, independent single mom who is still half living in her’s. I love how these two just kind of slowly come together over months of peaceful coexistence. But in true toddler fashion, Lila breaks the silence with her constant questions and joyful laughter. And then the author shakes family dinner to it’s core, with action and danger and horrible exs. This book is such a fantastic holiday read, I can see it becoming one of my annual re-reads and can’t wait to see what the author brings my way next.
Pretty sweet story but it needed more steam. Poor Garr is having a hard time adjusting to freedom and he doesn't talk much. When Shea and her daughter move in next door, he's interested but reluctant to follow his body's reactions. Their trip together brings everything to a head (literally) but he fights his attraction too much. At least it all ends well. Was there a previous book about Hazel and her alien mate?
It was a sweet, sci-fi holiday romance...until the shooting started. Lol.
What starts out as a pleasant holiday romance becomes action-packed and heated by the end. I loved hero Garr, an alien former POW who'd been tortured. He's a strong, silent, wounded hero who is innocent and protective. Shea, a divorced mom trying to make her way in the world, was easy to identity with. Lila, her daughter, was essential to the story, but I found her to be a bit bratty and annoying. Overlooking that, Gift of the Beast is a very nice sci-fi holiday romance.
The Ezak-X have had it rough from the get-go. Imprisoned and experimented on by the Krezlians, now free, but struggling to find their place in the galaxy. Plus, that dang Krezlians keep trying to get their experiments bakc and that's not fun no matter how you look at it.
Garr is kind of a mess, but not in a terrible way. He's not social in the slightest (because he doesn't see the point, mostly) and he craves structure. When he has something to focus on, he gives it his all, but he's kind of ...waiting. To find his place. To find his purpose. To find something he can't quite put his finger on.
Shea and Lila throw him into a tailspin. He's wildly attracted to Shea, but he has no clue what it means or why he should pursue her. But that doesn't stop him from being protective of the two of them. Seeing Shea in distress bothers him and he does everything he can to help her out. Even step pretty darn far out of his comfort zone to take them to her family's house for the holidays.
As for Shea, she's a dedicated mother and she's a-okay with the Ezak-X in general (mostly because her sister is mated to one). She definitely likes what she sees in Garr, but his stunted social skills make her think it's a one-sided attraction. Until, you know, THINGS HAPPEN. (By that I mean a little alien abduction, a mama bear on a rampage, and a Ezak-X who uses all his abilities to stop those aliens from hurting Shea and Lila.)
What can I say? I like the Ezak-X and how they manage to find happiness despite their craptastic beginnings. I like the ladies who match up with them and rouse all their protective instincts. *thumbs up*
Garr has fantasized about his neighbor, Shea and her daughter, Lila. But Garr has a problem. He can't speak easily. He gets hard just smelling her scent and he has to hide , so she won't notice. It's Christmas and her car won't start! She and Lila are supposed to go to New York for her parents and family. Garr can tell her car isn't going to start. So, on an impulse, he volunteers to drive them there. Then he realized what he had just said. On the way, it starts to snow and snow hard. They have to layover for the night, but they could only get one room. Garr was going to sleep on the floor but Shea insisted they could share the bed. They laid down but Garr couldn't stand it, wanting to touch her. He jumped off the bed and left the room. He slept outside on the bench in the freezing snow. In the morning, Shea and Lila found him covered with snow. He just brushed it off and they went in to breakfast. Then they went on to her parents house. They welcomed Garr as if he was family. Everything was fine until her ex-husband showed up. He was tere because of Lila. But he kept insulting Shea, calling her names. Garr couldn't stand that but her brother-in-law got between them and told Garr to walk away. He went outside and tried to walk it off. When he went back in, the ex was gone. But Lila was, too. They finally realized that she was kidnapped by some aliens. So, Garr and the sister's mate started hunting them. They came to three trails so they had to spilt up. And this where I leave you. You will have to read the book to see how the story goes. I liked the story and you will, too. Enjoy yourself, my friend.
Garr is the strong silent type of Ezak-X warrior. He lives a quiet life and is truly looking for purpose and a sense of being valued and useful. Shea, is Hazel's sister from a previous book. She gone through a divided and her ex is an asshat and she has a beautiful, talkative inquisitive 5 year old daughter. Shea moves into the apartment next door to Garr and the big silent warriors life is never the same. Things he though he never wanted become all he desires. When Shea's car breaks down before Christmas, Garr offers to take both girls to their family for the holiday. As Shea and Garr get to know one another the attraction is immediate but both a afraid of being hurt and Garr simply doesn't believe he's worthy. Their are beautiful moments and you can see this little budding family emerging. They Lila is kidnapped and we all know what happens when you puss off a mama and her a!e in warrior boyfriend. This is a wonderful way to spend a cold winters night and a story to put a smile on your face and a tingle of warmth in your heart for the holiday season. Totally read it!💖💖💖💖
I really liked this book. I loved the HEA and the epilogue was a great way to add more insight to the progression of relationship. Garr and Shea worked, I was worried because Garr was so closed off. He was smart but his trauma had left its prints on him. I feared it would take forever for the connection to develop and deepen. I was however pleasantly wrong because Shea Lila were exactly what he needed. They allowed Garr to be Garr. There was no forcing or pressure for Garr to change, he just naturally wanted to due to his attraction to Shea. Evan was a real hotmess and I’m glad he got out in his place. Zerig and Hazel were a great addition to the story because their relationship allowed Garr to see what is possible. Things progressed smoothly between Garr and Shea and I would definitely recommend this book.
I loved Garr’s and Shea’s story. Shea is a single mother she moved closer to where her sister lives and while moving into the apartment she gets help from her neighbour Garr who is a Ezak- X alien. Garr didn’t really know how to talk properly he knew how to say yes and no and that was it and when he met his new neighbor Shea and her daughter his body responded to Shea’s smell, he didn’t know why his body was getting ready for sex he knew what sex was but he had never done it before so to stop his body responding to Shea he will have to stay away from her. Fantastic story I loved it and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
I liked all the characters and how sweet Garr was with Lila and Shea. I liked how they didn't force him to speak more than he was comfortable with. The only thing that brought it down was the ex husband. He was just so horrible. He made racist ( is it racist if they are alien?) comments about the aliens in front of them and none of them stopped him. Everyone just put up with his douchey ways. I didn't understand how Shea could let him talk down to her and never pointed out that he was the whore. She just stayed a doormat even after their divorce. She didn't want to make a scene in front her daughter, but letting her daughter see her get treated like trash isn't healthy. And letting her ex act like that isn't healthy either. The ending was rushed, but sweet.
Shea was married to Evan before he cheated on her. The only good thing that came out of their marriage was her daughter Lily. So she decides to move them to Space City which is a town that incorporates aliens where her sister and her alien mate reside. Garr is one of the aliens and lives next door. He is the same species as her brother in law but he doesn't speak. He was tortured by their creators his whole life. Even though it is Christmas time some tragic things are about to happen. Will it bring the two neighbors closer? Or pull them apart?
I loved this! I did not need to read book 1 to enjoy the story. I loved Shea and Lila, the mother was sweet and the daughter sometimes too insightful for her own good but also precious as all get. Garr was the strong silent type but he had a good heart. And once he got comfortable he opened up slowly but surely. I hated Evan, and honestly, if Garr had ripped his legs off I wouldn't have been upset. I am glad he smartened up later but honestly, I would have preferred if he didn't survive the alien encounter.
If you like the tall silent type with a good heart and an alien twist, then this is the book for you. It has a single mom with an ex who of course left her for a big chested younger woman. There is snow and Christmas celebrations in New York. Of course you have to have some evil space aliens to fight. Then in the end is a COVID free HEA. This book is a good way to escape reality for a little while.
The story was so enjoyable because the characters were believable. The alien, Gar, is captivated by Shae and her tiny daughter. Each character was somewhat flawed, yet lovable and I wanted to know them better. The story even has a bit so great father that wasn't totally demonized in the end which was refreshing. I have the highest praise for this book. I'm certain this is hands down the best alien romance I've had the pleasure of reading!
Stoic silent type meets strong independent single mother and off to the plot we go. Though somewhat predictable this is a nice sweet romance that has a nice amount of steaming sex and it isn’t the driver of the story which is refreshing to say the least. I really liked the characters and got invested in the male character quickly. The female character was just as entertaining and in the end pretty kickass! Thumbs up.
A sci-fi romance with guaranteed happily ever after. Shea loves her daughter more than anything. She is a wonderful mother. Her daughter, Lila, is a smart five year old that loves to ask “Why?”. They live on an Earth where seeing aliens is a normal experience. But her new neighbor is beyond quite. But that doesn’t stop her from noticing him. The story is sweet but does have some danger. Expect lots of cuteness of a five year old.
This is such a lovely story about a very kind human female named Shea and a broken Ezak-X named Garr. Slowly Garr gets used to Shea and her daughter Lila talking to him and treating him like he matters even if he doesn't talk much. Then they are thrown together for the Christmas holidays. Danger, Lila being kidnapped, makes Garr realize how much he cares for them both and that's when they all find love together.
Gary had been treated so inhumanely as a slave that be carried enough mental scars to rarely talk. Shea had been put down by her ex and treated poorly until it ended in a nasty divorce. Yet when they found the other's love each had big improvements when they felt secure in their mate's love.
The daughter is a little much most of the time, but it’s easy to skim over her endless why’s. The hero is really sweet, and I thought the slow development of the story made a lot of sense for how traumatized he is.
Garr and Shea’s romance is very sweet. Garr is a damaged EZAK-X who doesn’t speak. Shea and her young daughter move in next door. What ensues is a delightful holiday adventure and love story. Chuckle, who doesn’t remember the “why” stage of a four year old!!! Exhausting but adorable.
Garr was shy around people and hardly ever spoke till he met his new neighbour. She's and her daughter moved to be near her sister. Lila is an inquisitive child but soon wins Silent Garr over. His good deed at Christmas won Shea's heart and a new life.
Shea’s situation is a bit overused, single mom with a crummy ex. But Garr’s character saves the story from being trite. It’s a sweet love story mixed with the bad guy aliens trying to steal human women and then being saved by the good aliens. Overall a nice little read. I want to thank the authors for making this available through Kindle Unlimited.
Thoroughly enjoyed every part of this book. I love this genre of books. I've read many of the Star Huntress books and enjoyed all of them. I would recommend this book to everyone who enjoys paranormal romance with aliens and hea endings!
This is a sweet and easy story to read. A beautiful single mom struggling in the City with an ex-husband that is rude. Her friends push her to move close to them and to start new beginnings. It just happens to be the Holiday season. Read On!
I really enjoyed Shea and Garr’s characters. The author did a great job of developing their back story and eventually their romance. Several twists and turns with danger and suspense. I really recommend this book.
Garr, Shea and Lila story will take you through twist and turns throughout their world. Garr has old scars he was trying to get over and Shea and her daughter Lila was moving on from a bad marriage.
This is a good, well written alien romance with adventure. This a special holiday story that is part of a series. It is a stand-alone read too but why not read the others in the series.
I loved the story between Garr and Shea. There were some heart felt moments and some intense scenes. Their friendship into romance was steamy and funny .
