REVIEW: KISS OF THE FAE is the third instalment in Carly Fall’s contemporary, adult FORBIDDEN FAE paranormal series. KISS OF THE FAE continues to focus on half-Fae Avery Dubois, and wolf-shifter Gabe Turneaux who now co-own and work together at Phantom Investigations, a small firm that investigates supernatural problems. KISS OF THE FAE should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up shortly after the events of books two Blood of the Fae.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Avery and Gabe) KISS OF THE FAE follows Avery and Gabe as they are contacted by Avery’s father Preston to investigate the who and what behind a series of vampire deaths directly related to Avery’s father’s burgeoning Fae blood operation. With her father’s future and life on the line, Avery and Gabe begin collecting evidence from anyone ad everyone connected to her father’s business, a business that may not necessarily be following the rules.
KISS OF THE FAE is a story of betrayal and revenge; of specieism and discrimination; of friendship, secrets, dishonesty and hope. Avery’s father Preston has made many enemies during his lifetime, and with most of the supernatural species at war with one another, all indication points to vengeance and retribution but retribution against whom and what is the ultimate question.
Carly Fall pulls the reader into a story of family secrets, lies and heart break. As Avery begins to fall for her wolf-shifter partner, the people in charge threaten any semblance of peace for our story line heroine.
The world building continues to focus on the building relationship and friendship between Gabe and Avery; the ongoing distrust and hatred between the supernatural species; and the fall-out of deceit and lies. The premise is engaging and fast paced; the characters are colorful and energetic; the romance is just beginning; the $ex scenes are mostly implied or fade to black.
This book begins the new business that Avery and Gabe formed called Phantom Investigations. After the last fiasco, they discovered people in the paranormal world needed the services they have been providing. They worked a few cases when Avery’s father contacted them for a meeting. He opened a legal blood bank to sell Fae blood to vamps. Someone has been poisoning vamps though through his blood and now they are out for his blood if he cannot discover who is behind the crime. He wants to hire Avery and Gabe to discover who is behind the poisoning and killing. As par for the course, trouble once again finds Avery. She just seems to stumble upon it everywhere she goes LOL! As the delve deeper in the case, those who lost loved ones come out of the woodwork to attack Avery to get back at her dad for poisoning others (eye for an eye). On top of the case, Gabe and Avery finally consummate their relationship but not without problems. Devon is not happy about it and does not want a relationship between the two…how far will he take that threat? He made Gabe second in command to the pack which gives him more responsibilities. Once more the two partners find themselves immersed over their head with many suspects, pieces to put together and trying to catch the criminals in fly by the bootstrap schemes. This time they are bringing along reinforcements! It will surprise you how this one ends! I cannot wait for the next one to come out! I received this book for free and am leaving a voluntary review.
Avery is a Fae & Gabe is a wolf shifter, together they work to solve cases for the paranormal community. Now Avery's father has asked them to find out who is tainting his Fae blood products. Someone is using the blood to kill Vampires. There are some unexpected twist and turns in this case! You also get to find out more on the developing attraction and romance between Gabe and Avery. I received an ARC copy of this book, enjoyed it and have chosen to leave this review. Now I'm looking forward to the next book in this series!
A great read. Averys father is being accused of being Responsible for killing Vampires, so she agrees to start an investigation to see who is killing the Vampires. Can she find out whos responsible, or is she wrong, the causes Avery to question alot. This is a great read. The Author makes this a great mystery, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The Characters are brought out vety well, and the surroundings. I highly recommend this must read. Shauna Joesten
We all know dear old Dad had very low moral standards, or does he. We did not expect all the twists and turns. Or to meet a few new characters and of course we still deal with some good old bad characters.
I'm in love with this series. Incredible. Love how the paranormal folks tend to hate each other but end up working together. Carly Fall hit this one out of the park. Cant wait to read next book.
