Kutenai Killing
IN A LAND OF PROVEN WARRIORS AND BITTER ENEMIES, THE OUTCOME OF ANY BATTLE IS NEVER CERTAIN AND MORE OFTEN…DEADLY.
The bloody waters at the lake’s edge told of the destruction of the Kutenai village. Dead bodies were strewn about, smoke curled from burning lodges, and the war cries of screaming Blackfoot warriors followed the war party from the scene of death and destruction.
It started as a rivalry between two war leaders of the Piikani Blackfoot, friends since their youth, they both wanted the same woman and were on a quest for honors and loot. One chose to attack the Salish but meets more than expected. The second, known as White Eagle, chose to go after the Kutenai and blood flowed. His easy victory over one village, drove him to go for a second village, but he had not known of the wrath and vengeance of a dreaded enemy of the Blackfoot known as Spirit Bear.
Together, with his battle-hardened friend, Black Buffalo, these two were determined to become the personification of vengeance as they pursued the blood thirsty and vengeful Blackfoot war party.

Together, B.N. and Dawn raised four girls that are now married and have made them proud grandparents. With many years as a successful pastor and educator, he retired from the ministry and followed in the footsteps of his entrepreneurial father and started a successful insurance agency, which is now in the hands of his trusted nephew. He has also been a successful audiobook narrator and has recorded many books for several award-winning authors. Now finally realizing his life-long dream, B.N. has turned his efforts to writing a variety of books, from children’s picture books and young adult adventure books, to the historical fiction and western genres which are his first love.

Bob Rundell – Stonecroft Sagas Bk 12 – Katenai Killing – Reviewed 12/8/20 – Read 11/20/20
When two men want the same woman, disaster usually follows!
Growing up the friends had always competed against each other. But when they got older, they both wanted the same woman. They decided the only way to solve the problem was to go on a quest for honors and loot, the best man would win the woman. Choosing to attack the Kutenai village, the men could have never known that Spirit Bear would decree his wrath of vengeance against this enemy, and nothing more than the worst disaster could follow.
Spirit Bear, Gabe Stone, along with his best friend, Black Buffalo, Ezra, would not let the meaningless destruction and killings rest, they decided to take their revenge as they followed the bloodthirsty Blackfoot war party. There could only be one outcome!
And now the story begins…
What did I like? I have followed this series with every book that Bob has graced us with. I tell you; I thought the last one was awesome but that was only until I read this one!! Having grown up among the Walatowa tribe at Pueblo of Jemez, I understand the competition between young braves as they grow up. Going on a quest for honors is particularly important to the Native American braves no matter which tribe they belong to. The bonding of a woman is determined by the father and the status of the brave requesting her. Bob is truly knowledgeable in the traditions of the Native Americans and does his research with immaculate details for the historical events for the period he is writing about. Not only do you get an enjoyable book, but a history lesson too!
What will you like? When I say that there is action, the word “action” does not cover what happens in this book, at all! In addition to the massacre that occurs, there is the track and extraction of revenge that follows. The emotional content is exceedingly high and will touch your heart. Now, of course, the book has one side consisting of the destruction but on the other side, the wonderful and heartwarming content will be something that you will remember. I certainly can back up the five-star rating that this book deserves, besides being an all-around great read. This book will be ready to add to your library on December 9th, 2020.

Another historical western adventure from prolific author B. N. Rundell, who portrays native cultures with sympathy and respect. Gabe and Ezra have partnered with two Native American women and the two couples have each other's backs in a series of compelling adventures. Survival on the old western frontier just as mountain men were making contact with the various tribes in the Rockies. The author also writes female characters with grit and verve. Highly recommended. I have been reading this series of books through Kindle Unlimited on my HD 10 Fire Tablet.

Mountain beauty and adventure
The lives of Gabe and Ezra continue with the beginnings of families with their Shoshone wives. The entire group travels to better grounds when drought threatens the area of their dugout. Strife and adventures follow as they all intervene to help their allies when they are attacked.

Gabe is always of a mind to help.
The telling of a long past way, wild country, and the differences of the tribes and their ways. It shows how the traders upset the balance of the people by giving some guns. Two slaughtered villages and another attacked. Why? Greed! Highly recommended for all readers. Clean, spiritual, adventurous.

Once again the boys are on their exploration west. This time with their own ever growing tribe. Two wives and four children, all under 5 years old. Adventures across every new valley, and into every new tribes territories, be them friendly or foes, but always something new.

Informative, Educational and Entertaining!
Russell pulls readers into the lives and times of early frontier life in a way there's no doubt of the reality of the near daily challenges and threats of death! Great part-time and I appreciate the character's reminders of how we get to heaven.

Good Book but too much proselytizing
Interesting book, but too much and too detailed explanation of Christianity. When taken with all the killing and detailed blood and guts fighting, seems a bit ludicrous.

Gabe, Ezra and families travel to the North to escape a drought. Planning on staying with the Salish tribe for the summer. Blackfeet raiding parties wipe out most of a village of Kutenai who come to the Salish for help.

Book 12 was also very good reading. At times it seemed like you were with Gabe, Ezra and family traveling through the mountains. I particularly like the way author brought God into their lives.

Great story telling
Very easy for a romantic like me that grew up in a rural setting to identify with the feelings and emotions generated by the different circumstances. Can't wait to read more of Rundell's stories.

As in the other books in this series this book is a fun read. The characters have lost non of their appeal, however Cougar Woman seems to be more Wonder Woman as she fought many battles within weeks of having a baby. Still a good and enjoyable read.
