A holiday mash-up with Jack Skellington from Halloween Town with a rousing, hair-raising version of Christmas Cheer.

Not Halloween themed!
This book is a play on the "12 days of Christmas song" but the items are all new age fortune telling things, not Halloween themed items. Doesn't really match the Nightmare universe at all. Nice illustrations though.

Written by Steven Davison and Carolyn Garder, with illustrations by Jerrod Maruyama, you’ll join Jack Skellington, Sally, and all the fan-favorites of Nightmare Before Christmas as they come together to create a Scary Christmas for all!
The book is designed for ages six and up and delivers a colorful array of pages that feature little counting challenges on each page. Think of the two turtle doves from the song, but in this they’re two true-love potions.

Coinciding with their #HalfwaytotheHolidays promotion, Disney Books released The Nightmare Before Christmas: 13 Days of Christmas this month! Tim Burton's classic movies is a favorite of lots of Disney fans and this book is an interesting addition to the lore.
Based on the 12 days of Christmas song, this picture book learns more towards a spooky Halloween theme than a Christmas one. Jack Skellington is Sally's "ghoul love" gifting her items like true-love potions and mystic mirrors before the start of their scary Christmas. The book is easy to read with each gift described in a different color, however I did spend time explaining to my 8 year old what fortune cards and potions were.
Where the prose falters, the artwork shines. Illustrated by Jerrod Maruyama, the take on Jack and his friends is in his signature cute icon style. I love the crisp bold colors and the details like Zero holding a candy cane and Sally sewing Jack's Sandy Claus outfit.
Overall this picture book is colorful enough to keep children's attention, I just wish more of the gifts had been pulled from the movie.

Told to the tune of 12 Days of Christmas, the gang from Nightmare Before Christmas sings their own version, “13 Days of Christmas.” With a Tim Burton-esque twist, the characters give each other gifts that have a Halloween touch to them. The illustrations are fun and reminiscent of the original movie. The rhyming text flows naturally. The text and illustrations work well together to bring each other to life. Fans of the Nightmare Before Christmas and Christmas will want to pick this one up.

If you love Nightmare Before Christmas... this is a super fun picture book for you! Based on the 12 days of Christmas, this book puts a dark twist on the classic while sticking with the rhyme and rhythm of the original lyrics. The pictures are 100% kid appropriate and delightfully nightmarish for all ages.
