Levy does a great job at capturing the bulk of the important dialogue of Fitzgerald’s work (my personal favorite of his). Having read The Great Gatsby well over 20 times myself, I felt as though I was missing Fitzgerald’s fluffy, beautiful language while reading this play adaptation, which of course, was the point. It is not in the dialogue of the play that we feel the grandeur of this novel, but in the staging and the lighting and the overall atmosphere created on stage. What I love most about plays and being a thespian.
