Scott, along with what remains of humanity, having lived with the paradox of knowing his own demise, must once again embrace freedom and take hold of the smallest offering of hope if he and humanity are going to survive.

In a time of deceit, the truth is more important than ever. But the truth, with humanity on the verge of extinction, is a luxury Scott Beck cannot afford.
Eighteen years after the Rapture, there are only a few thousand survivors left on the planet, all living in Britain. Scott, along with his adopted daughter, Eve, have kept a small band of survivors safe from Mathew and a religious organisation called the Watchers, intent on sending every last soul to heaven.
But when Scott discovers dozens of dead bodies, recently killed by something called The Violet Dawn, he is confronted once again with the truth behind Eve’s violet eyes.

Scott Beck always knew it was going to come to this. It was there all along. It's time for Scott and humanity to stop running and to fight back.

Neither Scott, the survivors, or Mathew, his nemesis, want this to happen. Scott is faced with a choice: either side with Mathew, or give into an AI ready to end the life of the last human survivors on the planet.

Humanity takes its last stand!
There were so many shocking moments, twists just everything you could wish for from a series.
Throughout the series:
Every character was just fantastic!
Every plot line was executed beautifully.
Every twist gripped your innards.
Every death tugged on the heart strings!
And then this line 👇
‘This empty chamber belongs to … belongs to humanity, to do with as … as it wishes.’

It started with The Warm Machine, continued with The Dead Horizon, was followed by The Violet Dawn, and then The Digital Resurrection, and finally concluded with The Human Genesis. I heartily recommend this exciting series. I have been a fan from the very beginning. The original premise had me hooked. The ongoing story captured my imagination. The writing was stark and often painted a bleak picture, and yet the characters were richly developed. To top it all off, there were many moments of deep philosophizing that made me consider interesting possibilities. I have loved the journey this series has taken me on. Five thumbs up!

This Box set compiles all five full-length books in the “Humanity Series” by Seth Rain, an intelligent dark dystopian tale that explores the horrifying possibilities of relying on AI a tad to much, and presents a world where AI are able to predict the exact time of death of a given individual. Such a premise opens offers a fertile ground to explore several issues, such as the meaning of predestination versus free will; the function of religion (to the point of fanatism) in society; the meaning of life without the expectancy of the unknown; the meaning and consequences of every choice; and a couple of such metaphysical topic. Despite the depth, the series is first and foremost a dystopian fiction work, whose first premise is to entertain the reader: a veritable fast-paced, action-filled, page-turner that keeps the reader on the edge of the seat, feverish running to the end of each book, finding equally answers and new questions…that will further be explored in the next installment, until the very satisfactory, mesmerizing, gripping, nevertheless fully unexpected and utterly logical and likewise heartfelt end.
The Warm Machine
At start of the series we encounter a world where AI has evolved into the third wave, with machines being able to design evolves versions of themselves without human interaction, until the last generation is even capable to predict the exact date of exactly 144.000 persons. Every one of them are now aware of the fact and even have a hand tattoo to prove it, but for some reason, even if they aware of the exact day and month, they don’t know the year, which only seems to add into the paranoia between feeling doomed and hoping for another year. Scott Beck is one of the unlucky ones, his hand shows the date 2204, but he is beginning to think that the date is wrong, not an easy think to prove, we get to know Scott though flashbacks, that help to understand where he is coming from. As Scott face once more the day of his death, he encounters a Matthew, a Watcher member of cult invested in the death dates mythology and becomes involved into a complex plot that would eventually force him to make a conscious choice about his own situations.
The Dead Horizon
Explores two different plots timely set one year apart and uses flashbacks into the time of the Rapture to fill in the blank about the current situation. Seven months after the Rapture, Seth Beck finds himself surprisingly alive, considering the hand tattoo that states his death. And then he realises that the dead appeared unchanged after all this time, perfectly preserved without any clues whatsoever about the cause their death and begins to suspect that the machinations behind the cataclysm are even darker than assumed. Meanwhile the AI states the existence of a dead horizon, a kind of even horizon, behind which it cannot predict the future. The end of future determination changes the way of life for humanity once again, humans must learn to live with the lack of knowledge about the future, they can be free again and bear hope, but freedom brings a new set of choices and consequences.
The Violet Dawn
Takes place eighteen years after the Rapture, with only about four thousand humans left in the planet, all of them living in Britain. Scott Beck have succeeded in keeping a small group of survivors safe from the Watchers, who are invested in sending every single soul to Heaven (or so they mean) and depopulate the planet. Eve, a girl with strange violet eyes, who Seth adopted time ago, bears a secret that would come to life as Seth discovers several bodies, who seem to have been killed by something called the Violet Dawn. Seth makes the connection to Eve’s eyes, who is fact a hybrid part human genetic and part AI code, and will have to make a hard choice between telling Eve the truth about herself or keeping humanity safe.
The Digital Resurrection
Scot Beck and his family are coping with the devastating losses experienced at the end of the previous installment with their unexpected catastrophic consequences. The survivors withdraw and found a new enclave in St. Ives, in Southwest England around, intended on surviving at all cost as the AI, which also relocated to St. Ives’ chapel, offers to end every human’s life and not only them back but also every other extinguished eight billing lives. For once Scott and Matthew are united against the AI, for Scott that means taking sides between Matthew, his archnemesis throughout all the struggle, and the AI, the proverbial between a rock and hard place. Trapped and against all odds Scot continues his fight for the survival of humanity as a whole.

Concludes the series with uncanny precision. Scott Beck finds himself back into a changed reality, some thirty years in the future, right on time to break havoc into the final battle between, the New Humans, Matthew’s fraction and his own people, the survivors, who are now older, their children grown-up ready to fight for their right to exist as humans, despite the losses suffered against Matthew’s fraction. In order to have a chance against Matthew, Scott seeks an alliance with the New Humans, failing in the attempt and provoking an all-fronts war that will decide the future of the planet and its inhabitants.

Bit of a slow start. I was put off initially by all the religion, but it turned out to be about a struggle between humanity and religious fundamentalism. It's a dramatic parallel of what it feels like to be an American today.

The Humanity series is one of those dystopian series that is not only grand in scale in the story that unfolds over the five books set in a futuristic Britain with humanity's fate all but sealed to fade into the dust of time. It's also a series where its characters are forced to make gut wrenching decisions to keep one step ahead of those determined fulfill their ideologist agenda of sending humanity back into Heaven. And Scott Beck along with numerous others are having none of the bullshit of Mathew, the Watchers are forcing upon those that survive everything from the Rapture to the harrowing encounters and the senseless murders that follows. And despite all of the loss and pain, humanity shows its kindness and fiery determination to battle the odds that seem insurmountable to guarantee a new horizon can be found.
A poetic, poignant and visually intense series not to be missed.

One star, not because it wasn't well-written in terms of only a few typos, but because these 5 books should have been at best 2.
To write 5 books purportedly following Scott's relations with people but in actuality stretching out the murdering of every person on the planet by a megalomanic "Michael" who is sending them to "God," is way over the top of obsessive. Yes, I read them. Well, I skimmed the last book because I was so fed up with the plot. I did appreciate Eve's character, as she grew and was molded by AI. But all the philosophical religious mental gymnastics were extraneous to the storyline and only there to justify the AI having obtained "consciousness." This writer should try again, on something more interesting, shorter, more fulfilling for the reader, and far away from any "god" stuff. Sorry for the rant.

SPECTACULAR DYSTOPIAN SCIENCE FICTION ADVENTURE!!!
What a POWERFUL & EMOTIONAL Science Fiction series!!!:-). There is such a uniqueness to this Dystopian world!!! The characters are intensely captivating and you will not be able to stop turning the pages to see where their journey takes them!!! I adored ALL of the science and philosophy throughout!!! LOVED IT!!!:-)

What a colossal waste of time
Trival, trite, full of errors and logical inconsistency. A ridiculous premise that the hero can't kill the protagonist despite several opportunities, and as a result the protagonist kills 10 billion people. Please avoid this.
