It came out of nowhere. A huge cat in the middle of the road. We swerved to avoid it and crashed into a snowy tree, ending our road trip early and stranding us far from the local town, in the middle of a snowstorm with another on the way. How can a pop star, her assistant, and her best friend survive in a snowy wilderness? Short answer is: they can’t.
But then *he* came out of nowhere. The big guy with the gruff voice and the sharp eyes. The eyes that are always on me. I have to trust him, to accept his rescue of my friends and me, but the more I get to know Charles, the more I realize I need him. Maybe we landed at the lodge with these mysterious mountain men by accident, but Charles makes me believe it was good luck that brought us here.
Even though he’s vague about his past, his kisses are certain, and his gentle touches become addictive. His love is all-consuming.
But when an old threat follows us to the lodge, Charles reveals his particular set of skills, deadly ones. Can I accept the man who treats me so sweetly but can kill without a thought? *-*
MINK's Note: Grab you a fluffy friend, and get comfy, for this tale of a man who knows his bride when he sees her.
This is a pretty fast pace novella that has some steam and some drama.
Clover and her friends (all getting novellas) are finishing up a tour and also one of her friends is being stalked, and they get into a accident and that's where ex assassin Charles takes notice of Clover and brings them back to the compound. With his friends, keeping Clover safe along with her friends.
Charles feels something else is going on when he feels eyes on them but he must first make Clover his. And its steamy she took his past very calming. This ends on a HFN I think due to the bad guy still out there and the next novella is coming soon.
No ow/om drama, No cheating, Tiny drama,Secondary character, sexy times, virgin gal no manwhore
Knocking Up His Bride de MINK serie The blushing brides libro 1
Noooo!!!
Me quedaron muchas dudas.
No puedo esperar a leerlos!
Mayormente disfruté este comienzo de serie, rápido, sexy y dulce pero le quité estrellas porque quería más de la historia de Clover y Charles.
Okayyyyy so where do I begin. This was a very quick quick read by Mink a new author to this reader and rethinking if I will read anything else at this time. Okay getting back to where do I begin...this story was so unrealistic, unbelievable and way too fast for my liking and just ridiculous. Who in their right mind would immediately fall head over heels for a stranger (Charles) appearing out of the woods like some horror movie and a few minutes later planting a kiss on her (Clover) because he felt it was right. No getting to know you...getting to know all about you...nothing but later ends up in his bed and with him telling her that she is not leaving him ever and that she will be with him forever...NOT my cup of tea. Then after she finds out that he is an ex assassin, she still doesn't question anything but hops right back under the covers for another go.
The other two women (Bells and Aurora) who are are stranded with her end up with his friends in the same situation. Googly eyes and straight into the bedroom...no questions asked. And later after another friend, Daphne shows up, here comes Tiernan to stake his claim on the 4th woman. Not only was I a bit put off but I would have hoped all of the women characters would have shown some form of caution, especially the heroine who had her virtue at stake and freely gave it up to a stranger all within 1 hour.
Sorry to all the 4 & 5 Star reviews, but maybe you are reading something that I totally missed. In all of my reading this year, this was definitely a "no go". "Knocking Up His Bride" never made it to a knock up or a bride as the title just didn't fit the content in the story.
The shortest love story in a history of 2020... It must have been less than 24hrs when they proclaimed their love... Hmmm... I wonder how ridiculous are the other 3 reads in a series.
I mean I'm not too surprised that I enjoyed the book- as usual, it was just really entertaining and quick to read.
The book was alright overall- I feel like it had a lot of wasted potential in terms of its storyline though, as the book had absolutely no correlation to either its blurb or title. I feel like the story would've been so much nicer if the book had actually worked off of its blurb- This definitely wasn't my favourite book by Mink so far, but it was still some fun.
MINK consistently delivers and manages to give me a read that I devour and go back to again and again. They may be short reads but what she packs into those pages is superb.
No drama. No cheating. A guaranteed happily ever is given along with an entertaining read that has a reader from start to finish.
Here is no different. Alpha with a capital A, Charles thought love wasn't in the cards for him. Hiding on his mountain top trying to stay out of the spotlight of his past along with his brothers though not by blood their bond is stronger. When he encounters the wreck on the highway he wasn't expecting to find his forever. But that's what he did get.
Clover is sassy, sweet and has no problem stepping up to protect her friends or telling Charles like it is. A fun read with a steam factor that explodes when these two finally get alone.
"Knocking Up His Bride" is the story of Clover and Charles.
A sweet insta love romance between a brooding, sexy hero and a chirpy, innocent heroine. We meet up other potential couples in the book too, and I am looking forward to reading about them. It was predictable, but I enjoyed it!
A quick, insta love story about Charles, who is a former part of the Brotherhood, and Clover. All it takes is one glimpse of Clover for Charles to ha e a reaction to her. This was a good quick read.
Cute story but I don’t get why it’s called knocking up his bride. I mean yeah they had sex but she didn’t get pregnant in the story nor did they get married.
Safe Dual POV Virgin heroine no info on hero Steamy No epilogue
Cute and exciting. This little story is perfect for cold times when you feel like cuddling with a big, strong, protective fellow. Especially if you are being chased by bad guys, a raging storm, and hidden desires to be loved.
I enjoyed this first book in the mountain man series. The cover doesn’t suit the contents, though. The plot sets a thrilling scenario with several young women seeking for shelter in the storm. What they find is a harem of men retired from a dangerous life who are unequivocally equipped to sate all her needs, be they warmth, food, pleasure, or saving from evil guys.
I liked the scene where the girls are driving through the storm, and then the one when the hot mountain man feeds the heroine and they talk. On the other hand, despite a good action scene, the ending was a bit rushed and inconclusive, but it feels like the story would continue in the following book. I really hope it is the case as the next couple tells their romance.
It's just fortuitous for the h and her friends that when they decide to get away from a stalker and persistent paparazzi and then proceed to run off the road in the beginning of a storm.....that they are rescued by the H....a former assassin who lives in a lovely lodge with his fellow former mercenaries/ assassin buddies.....so that when the popular Hollywood actor stalker hires professionals to come after your friend....your new man and his crew can wipe them out..... I mean she was just so lucky!
Virgin h Insta lust/love No cheating Absolutely ridiculous😂
First in a series as the other friends get their own books too
This book spends a good bit setting the stage for the coming books. Charles wants Clover as soon as he sees her. Great chemistry and dialogue between all of the characters. An appearance by a big cat and more from the Brotherhood!
I’m sorry WHAT?????? I was expecting a breeding kink and a wedding… NOPE. Anyways once I got over the disappointment this was actually really sweet and a good storyline, I want more. it kinda ended on a cliff hanger, I can’t wait to see what happens next!! super short and smutty.
What a crazy title. I don't even know what the title has to do with the story. No one gets married, no one gets pregnant. Not even 24 hours passes in the whole book.
This novella is linked very closely with the other 3 books in the series. I imagine that the story in the next book picks up right where this one drops off, but with the focus on one of the 3 other couples.
I'm not sure that I'll continue the series. I expected insta-love, but this was ridiculously extreme. Also, the story didn't grab me at all.
this was like instalove: speedrun. too fast for my tastes. i don't mind when feelings appear quickly but kissing her two minutes after he saw her, and taking her to his bed as soon as they got to his home was too much. especially considering he's a strange man coming out of the woods where the women are stranded. within that context it's too unrealistic for me, and just makes me frustrated that the heroine isn't just a tiny bit cautious.
I'm always happy to get a book from Mink. I liked the characters and how strong they were. I have to be completely honest though the title is misleading and confusing.
HERO - Charles. Formerly an assassin for the Brotherhood. Giant-sized and ripped with dark eyes and a nose that’s been broken a few times. Scars cover his body thanks to his violent past.
HEROINE - Clover Lane. Assistant to a pop star. Long blonde hair, big green eyes, and wears pink-framed glasses.
OVERALL THOUGHTS - I really enjoyed it...until that abrupt ending. I mean, it felt like hitting a brick wall that came out of nowhere. Now, this is the first of four books, each featuring a different couple, so I know we’ll see them again throughout the final three. I REALLY hope there’s a satisfying HEA for all four couples at the end of the last book.
While this is a romance novel, the story also had thriller undertones with it’s snowy isolated cabin in the mountains and the suggestion that our protagonists aren’t alone out there. Someone’s watching them, waiting. Is it Aurora’s stalker? Or someone from one of the men’s nefarious pasts? Or both?
There’s eight characters that are introduced, so here’s a "brief" rundown:
First we have our girl group. Clover, our heroine, is a little shy, a little reserved, but protective of her employer and friend Aurora. Aurora is a famous pop star who’s got a bubbly personality and is sweet and kind to the core. Then there’s Bells, Aurora’s lifelong BFF. She's headstrong, doesn’t like to appear weak, and has a little bit of a temper. Finally, there’s Daphne, who isn’t part of the initial crash, but turns up later for an exclusive interview with Aurora. She’s been famous since birth (for what, we’re not told yet), but is making her own way as an amateur (I think?) reporter with a blog.
The group of men consists of Charles, a former member of the Brotherhood, which is an organization of professional killers that’s popped up in previous MINK books. He’s sort of the “leader” as the one who built the house and gave the others a place to stay. Barrow is a former medic (and killer) of a new group I’ve never heard of called the Red Scorpions. The Red Dragoons were always the other group MINK wrote about so I wonder if this was a typo. His personality wasn’t really highlighted. Tiernan is the light-hearted one, but no information was given about his background. Finally, there’s Diego, who was part of the mafia before faking his own death.
Our Signature Cat this time around is Leonard the big white lynx. He spends his time roaming the mountainside, digging through the guys’ trash, and is the cause of the car crash that introduces our heroine to the hero.
I really enjoyed the friendship dynamics between the two groups. We saw more of it with the ladies, but also glimpses of it with the men. There was humor, mystery, friendships, romance, snow, mountains, and men who live on them. I was a happy camper for the most part. It even felt a little creepy at times. The feeling of isolation with the suggestion that you’re not as alone as you assumed you were? Yeah, I could definitely appreciate that. I also REALLY appreciated the lack of push/pull which has heavily featured in most of the author’s recent works.
There’s an HFN if you couldn’t tell from my previous complaint about the ending. The title is a complete lie as of right now, but we’ll see how the author wraps everything up down the road. The mystery continues in the next book, Claiming His Bride, featuring Aurora and Diego. The other pairings appear to be Bells/Barrow and Daphne/Tiernan.
Okay read with a ridiculous plot as usual when it comes to novella, but I'm still here for all of it. 😂
The first book in a 4 part series, each probably can be read as standalone but I think reading in order is preferable.
This is the story of Charles and Clover. Clover and her friends were on the road when they got sidetracked and bumped to a tree. Charles then rescued them and bring the girls to his private lodge where he was living with three other guys.
So in general each book has different couples: Clover and her friends paired with the guys living with Charles.
Overall, I think the whole series has to be read in order to complete the story seeing as all of them are interconnected. Should be quick and easy considering these books are short and less than 100 pages.
This start to a new series has a lot of promise as it introduces an entire cast of characters and there are obvious couples coming up in subsequent books. Clover and Charles are an odd couple as he is a retired assassin and she is the manager for a pop singer running away from a serious stalker.
As I said, a lot of promise, but no resolution as the ending is so abrupt I honestly thought there was an error in the downloaded file. The actual story, characters and interactions would have made this rate higher if it wasn't for the disappointing ending. I generally really enjoy Mink's stories and felt this fell short.
Clover and her friends are just looking to get out of the spotlight and away from Aurora's stalker. They end up in a car accident on a snowy mountain and get rescued by Charles. Charles ends up taking them to his compound where his three brothers in arms are and he can't seem to keep his eyes or hands off of Clover. This is a great read and I highly recommend it!
This was a very short novella about a group of girlfriends getting lost in the snowy mountains. When they get in a car crash, a huge mountain man saves them and brings them to his house. Where there is of course a perfect number of guys to match up with the women.
This was just not in for me. Too insta lovely for my taste. Sometimes I like instalove, but this was not the kind I enjoy.
Also the title has literally nothing to do with the book???🤣
The start of a series, and it starts quite hot & steamy 🔥 First, the ladies, Clover, Bells & Aurora are escaping for a bit, trying to get away from it all, and some troubles. They crash in a snow storm, and Charles, a big bad man with a big heart, saves them and brings them back to his lodge that he shares with his friends/brothers. Charles feels instantly attracted & connected to Clover, and she feels the same. When danger comes, they’re all at the ready. Inst-love at its steamiest. I can’t wait for more!
I thought that is was a really sweet book. Charles was instantly drawn to Clover. Clover doesn't trust anyone and always has her walls up but one look at Charles and they start to lower, one kiss from him, and all of her defenses are completely nonexistent! I really enjoyed this insta-love book. I really can't wait to see what happens with the rest of the woman and the men at the Lodge. I would recommend this book and all of Mink's work!
I received a free e-book copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
