The Marquess of Sundenbury needs to stay out of trouble. Genevieve Winter needs a favor. What could go wrong? Only everything...

Sundenbury has a gambling problem. Genevieve has a Sundenbury problem. Namely, she has been tasked with keeping an eye on the scandalous lord. Gen has plans to open a ladies' gaming establishment, and while she's saddled with London's biggest ne'er-do-well, he has to make himself useful. In exchange for her aid, the marquess must help her gain the ladylike polish she requires to lure in her lucrative clientele.

Max, Marquess of Sundenbury, is the undisputed black sheep of his family. With his gambling debts mounting and a ducal father who has cut off the purse strings, he needs to reform his reputation and find a wealthy bride. His plan? Take a month away from society, give the wagging tongues time to settle down, then re-emerge a changed man, and all that folderol.

But he never bargained for the hellion in breeches who amazes him with her sharp wit, sharper tongue, and undeniable beauty. Gen wants nothing to do with a handsome scoundrel like Max, no matter how sinful his kisses or tempting his embrace. An independent lady gaming hell owner and a penniless lord who can't stay away from the hazard table could not be more wrong for each other.

Or mayhap, just mayhap, they could not be more right.

I’m not sure what I loved more about this book. Genevieve’s stubbornness, Max’s dimples, or Arthur’s love of sausages. Genevieve’s outward appearance hides a quiet vulnerability that only Max seems to see. He conceals the pain of his past, only allowing it out to show Genevieve there is more to him than meets the eye. I adored their banter, her determination not to fall for his charms, and his intention to keep her, no matter the cost. The dog was the highlight with his loyalty easily swayed by the treats secreted by Max, much the same as the way Genevieve was swayed with his gd dimples. The two of them made me smile and laugh out loud at times while reading.
Another wonderful addition to the Winter lineup!

💋💋

A very satisfying and entertaining read that will have you giggling.

Gen and Max have a great relationship but coming from different upbringings it’s so amusing to listen to the banter and the conversations between the two.

It’s a very good book to lighten your heart and give you that feel good factor.
Not quite as steamy as some of Scarlett’s past books have been, but a really good storyline and visits from many past characters, family and friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and am looking forward to Demon Winters book with enthusiasm.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

Winter's Waltz is superbly delightful. I usually dislike romantic characters who are complete opposites because it's hard to find any real connection within their is so little in common but this couple is so much fun to read about.

A change of setting this time, this story takes place entirely in a gambling hell on the roughest side of London. Genevieve Winter, the only female from the illegitimate Winter line, has grown up with five "enterprising" brothers and she's on the cusp of opening her own gambling club for wealthy ladies of the Ton. Gen has reluctantly agreed to stash her new sisters in-law's rapscallion brother Maximillian, Marquess of Sundenbury, out of sight and out trouble for a month. Max has run up huge gambling debts wherein his father, the Duke of Lincross, has cut Max off until he changes his wayward ways. In exchange for her help, Max agrees to help Gen with refining her talk and mannerisms to attract wealthy ladies to her club.

Max is immediately attracted to the feisty, spirited Gen upon their first meeting and promptly gets a punch to the nose on their first meeting. The banter between these two was lively and humorous, especially when Gen would refer to Max as Lord Blunderbury. Scott realistically portrayed a tender and vulnerable side to Genevieve's outwardly tough, independent persona, while also showing Max's evolution from a useless wastrel spinning out of control, to a man who stood up and fought for a gem of a woman who was worth defying social expectations.

The third character was my favorite, Arthur the three-legged, sausage-loving dog. I don't like children in my romances but I always love dogs, especially strays who have found a loving human.

I love the Winter family and the Regency setting that Scarlet Scott has created. I look forward to Demon Winter's then Gavin Winter's books.

Love this series

Loved this so much. But I must admit I had a hard time with Sunderbury being the hero. He was just weak before and I wasn't sure but he redeemed himself. Wonderfully. And at the same time, this was the first time I realized how unbelievable it was. The whole series not just him and Gen. This would never have happened and I was like getting ready to roll my eyes and instead I embraced the improbability of it. I love the altered reality of these stories. This is why I read romance. These are pure candy for my brain! This love story was perfect and while their was angst, there was no cheating, no big misunderstanding, just two people falling in love. Some times you just need the fluff.

This is the eleventh book in the series & whilst it could easily be read on its own the whole series is SO good. It shows an author’s talent when they can make the eleventh book in a series feel as fresh as the first, another absolute gem that will make you smile, laugh, sigh & even shed a couple of tears. The first meeting between Max & Gen is brilliant & set me up for an engrossing read, which I read in two sittings. I loved the wastrel Max who could charm the birds out of the trees & Gen who whilst seeming completely confident had a vulnerable side, together sparks flew, their verbal bantering was hugely entertaining & the chemistry was off the scale.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

The Marquess of Sundenbuy. "What the devil had she been thinking when she had agreed to this addlepated idea of her half brother's wives? He'd been banished from The Devil's Spawn due to his inability to control his gambling.... then lost more in a rival gaming hall and his father had cut his purse strings...."

Gen Winter, took no prisoners! Dressed as a man, cursed like nobody's business and could defend herself when needed.. Oh yes she had punched him in the nose! But to payoff his debt, he was to help her deal with polite society since she wanted to draw "ladies" to her gaming establishment.

Humor and laugh out loud moments, a handsome Marquess with his own problems and a determined "lady" bring this story to one of my favorites of this series. Of course I say that about each one I read!!

Not as good as the others in the series.

I’m not sure why Gen would be tasked with watching a dissolute Lordling when she has more capable older brothers at hand. And why would Max need watching in the first place? He’s a grown man and a Duke’s heir. If he needs to sober up, I’m sure he has plenty of estates outside of London he can go to that’s not a ladies gaming hell. And on top of that, when we meet Max, he claims he’s already rehabilitated but still needs a month’s worth of babysitting?

The whole plot to get them together is just silly. And I’m not a huge fan of heroines who act more like a man than the hero but that’s just me. 🤷‍♀️

Another little gem in the Wicked Winters universe! Winters Waltz is the 11th book in Scarlett Scott’s Wicked Winters series and although it can be read as a stand alone you get a greater understanding of the background if you read the rest.
Genevieve Winter is just about to achieve her life’s dream. She is weeks away from opening her exclusive ladies only gambling club, Lady Fortune. The last thing she needs is having to baby sit her sister-in laws’ scapegrace brother. Unfortunately, she also needs his aid in refining her ways so she will be accepted by the ladies she wishes to attract to her club.
Max, Marquess of Sundenbury, needs to redeem himself. Having been rescued from a mountain of gambling debts he needs to lie low for a while. Tasked by his sisters to aid Genevieve in polishing her manners he grabs the opportunity. How hard could it possibly be? He is taken by surprise by his attraction to the spirited Gen. But will she be able to trust that his feckless ways are behind him and he is a gentleman that she can rely on?
This was a such a fun story. Genevieve is possibly Scarlett’s most unconventional heroine. She is financially independent, wears breeches, can swear like a trooper and packs a mean punch. I was surprised by how much I loved her character. She has faced such hardship and tragedy in her past but managed to rise above it with the help of her brothers. Under her tough exterior she has a heart of gold.
Max is fabulous – he is charming and a bit of a rogue. A bit of a change from the usual ‘hero’ stock; he had been a bit of a wastrel gambling away his funds till his father is forced to cut him off, but I liked that he realised that he couldn’t continue to live as he has and was determined to turn his life around. He was very clear about his feelings for Genevieve and was determined not to let her doubts prevent them from being together.
This book was full of warmth, humour and passion. I loved the banter between Max and Gen – it was hilarious. But equally I loved the understanding and empathy between the two.
There are obstacles to overcome – someone is trying to sabotage Gen’s club before it opens, both are from completely different worlds, Gen doesn’t want to give up all that she has worked so hard towards and Max has to prove that he will not revert to the feckless gambler he was. Scarlett resolves each difficulty in a believable and realistic way. The villain is unveiled and dealt with and I love that Gen was able to merge into Max’s world without having to completely give up her club. Each time one of the ‘Winters’ series comes out I swear it is my favourite but I think this one definitely deserves to be at the top of the list. The writing is clever and witty and you genuinely care for the protagonists.
I generously received an ARC from the author but the views are entirely my own.

After 11 books in the series, one might think the story lines are all the same.  Not in a series by Scarlett Scott.  Although characters cross over due to relation and location, she expands on each character she brings to life.  Having read snippets about the Marquess of Sundenbury ("Max") and Genevieve Winter ("Gen") in other books in the series, their story was much anticipated.

Max and Gen are literally thrown together, one to sort out and move on from past transgressions and the other to prove independence.  Family and loyalty mean the world to each of them, well, as far as their siblings are concerned.  Gen is anything but traditional for the time and does not give a fig what others think, until it comes to her new business venture for women only.  Max has never wanted to be a Duke but was born to it and raised as a gentleman, and what do his duty.  Gen needs his help but is reluctant to accept it, except she was requested to assist him in repairing his reputation by his sisters, her sisters-in-law, and she needs to be able to learn how to be a lady to entice customers.

Gen is fighting to branch out on her own and be a woman who does not have to rely on a man and isn't prepared for what Max makes her feel.  Max, on the other hand, is a lover of chance as well as beautiful women and is surprised by his attraction to this hellion who turns her nose up at society, but will be relying on the same society members to make her business a success.

Through several unfortunate events, Max and Gen are thrown together and neither feels that they could have a forever, but could certainly enjoy their limited time together and go back to their respective lives.  However, will they be brave enough to open their hearts and minds to one another, or live the lives they felt they were destined to live.

Max and Gen's love/hate relationship leaves you not wanting to put this book down so you can see if they are meant to be enemies, friends, and or more.  There's no denying the sparks that fly between them, but they are from two different worlds, worlds that are not open to acceptance of those outside their sphere.

Not only has Scarlett done it again, she provides a teaser for Demon's story.  Once you read the first few pages, you'll be counting the days until the release of the 12th book in the Wicked Winters series.

I loved Max and Gen's story so much it is Scarlett Scott at her best. It was lovely to catch up with all the Winters both good and wicked.

Max Lord Sundenbury is in trouble he is indebted to his brother in law Dominic Winter who on the bequest of his sister Addy has paid off his debts to Jasper Sutton. He is also broke as his father the Duke of Lincross has cut him off without a penny. So he has struck up a deal that he will help polish Gen Dominic's sister for a month prior to the opening of her exclusive ladies only gambling hell. Hoping that a month away from the glaring eyes of society will help to reform his roguish reputation. However he did not bank on the simmering attraction that flares up between him and Gen as she fights not to succumb to his brand of charm as she has had her heart bruised before and has secrets of her own that only her brother Gavin knows about.

However someone is trying their hardest to stop their burgeoning attraction from becoming more firstly by setting fire to her kitchens to stealing her wine, silver, paintings and precious ledgers. Is it a coincidence that the attacks only started with the appearance of Max at Lady Fortune and when will they stop and who is behind these attacks. Gen tries her hardest not to suspect Max, but her lack of faith pushes him away and he resolves to find out who it is that is attacking Gen and Lady Fortune before it is too late. Gen is devastated when her nemesis is revealed. Can Max and Gen's romance survive the censure of society as a Duke's son and heir and a rookeries born illegitimate daughter of a merchant and sister to the wicked winters and proprietor of a ladies hell.

I loved this book. It was a sweet love story. Humorous, witty banter as is typical of any Scarlett Scott book. By the time I had read the first page I was totally engrossed. Genevieve was a strong, independent, sassy, feisty, trouser-wearing heroine with a real backbone. I adored her! To date she’s my favorite of all of the author’s female characters. Not that I’m a violent type - but I loved it when she punched the hero right in the nose! It was so comical. And I loved Arthur the 3 legged dog!!! Scarlett Scott just keeps on delivering… I honestly don’t read much historical romances – I’m more of a fan of the old school harlequin presents / mills and boon type but when I discovered this author I have been devouring book after book of hers – I’m simply addicted and now the mills and boon seem kinda dull! So, I’ll be patiently waiting for her next release. Scarlett I’ve said it before you’ve spoiled me for other authors!!!

Genevieve Winter is unlike any woman that Max, Marquess of Sundenbury has ever met. She is certainly feisty, strong willed and determined to make her way by herself. Max had the task of turning her into a lady. They had a very spirited first meeting, but they were attracted to each other. Gen preferred to wear trousers rather than a dress. Max was devastatingly handsome with a charming personality. He also had a gambling habit that had caused him problems. He is trying to reform his ways. This was an entertaining read with engaging characters. There wasn’t a dull moment with plenty of action. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A very humorous romantic story.. Gen and Max are from two different worlds.. She's from the rookeries and he is from Mayfair.. She's a who wears trousers and who is very unconventional along with being an illegitimate daughter to a duke.. He is a future duke who simply didn't appreciate what he has in life.. But that doesn't stop them from falling in love.. And that doesn't stop them from getting what they want each other..

Great storyline great characters loved it from beginning to end and I loved seeing all the other winters being mentioned.. I look forward to the next book in the winters series..

I received this an arc for an honest review and these are purely my thoughts and no one else's

Genevieve 💖 and Lord Blunderbury

This is such a beautiful and emotional romance! Book 11 in an incredibly, addictive series. These Winters are the ones who were not acknowledged by their father, but just as loved!
Miss. Genevieve Winter is Dominick sister. She is a beautiful and sassy power unto herself. She wears breeches and a cravat and Max, Lord Sundenbury loves it.

Implausible and weak story. Why would Gen be tasked with babysitting a Dukes gambling heir in need of rehabilitation and sobering up, and that in a Gaming Hell?!
The author needs to do in-depth research. The aristocracy, in that period, did not marry someone from the rookeries. Not saying it should not happen, it simply did not then.

Max, the Marquess of Sundenbury, heir to the Duke of Linross, is a rake, spoiled son with money, and an obsessed gambler who lost more money that he had at a gaming hell & although his ten-thousand-pound debt of paid, his father, the duke, cut off all his funds. His sisters had come up with a plan to keep him out of trouble and in turn he could do a favor for their sister-in-law by teaching her some polish to interact with the fine ladies of society. Sounds simple but oh, how wrong that assumption would be.

Genevieve Winter is the true definition of a hoyden - she prefers comfortable breeches, shirt, cravat, & boots rather than stays & gowns. She has a mouth that would put a sailor to shame. She is part of the bastard side of the Winter family & grew up on the East End with her brothers - the brothers own a gaming hell & Gen is opening one just for women but she needs to get her manners in order so she can lure the high society, rich ladies in to gamble at her establishment.

Max & Gen are such opposites - their bantering, arguing, Gen's physical abuse of Max is hilarious & the only thing better than this was their undeniable lust for each other - that turned into such romance and love. This story was so much fun as it never entered a ballroom, but the entire thing took place on the East End. Gen was such a strong female with humor, mental & physical toughness & she did have a soft side. Max, oh Max, what a wastrel but he had such a good heart & my, those dimples! Finally, Arthur, Gen's three-legged dog she rescued after he was struck by a carriage - he was loving, protective & thanks to Max, he loved sausages. I highly recommend this book & the entire series - if you like steamy romance that surrounds one large extended family, this is for you. I have become so attached to the Legitimate & Illegitimate Winters & I hate that the series is close to ending. I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.

Another amazing Winter’s book!!!
Max, Marquess of Sundenbury, has a gambling problem and Genevieve Winter has been tasked with keeping an eye on the scandalous lord. She has plans to open a ladies’ gaming establishment, and while she’s saddled with London’s biggest ne’er do well, he has to make himself useful. In exchange for her aid, the marquess must help her gain the ladylike polish she requires to lure in her lucrative clientele.
Sundenbury needs to reform his reputation and find a wealthy bride. His plan? Take a month away from society, give the wagging tongues time to settle down, then reemerge a changed man. But he never bargained for the hellion in breeches who amazes him with her sharp wit, sharper tongue, and undeniable beauty. Gen wants nothing to do with a handsome scoundrel like Max, no matter how sinful his kisses or tempting his embrace. An independent lady gaming hell owner and a penniless lord who can’t stay away from the hazard table could not be more wrong for each other.
Or maybe not.
This book is super fun. Gen is struggling all the time between kissing Max or punching him in the nose. So of course she does both. She is strong, smart and the queen of ice walls. He is a witty scoundrel with sexy dimples that invite weakness and has a desperate need to protect his empress.
They are really good together. There are amazing dialogs, a bit of mystery and lots of kissing.
Great reading!

Starring Genevieve Winters and Max, Marquess of Sundenbury.

Aw man!!! Genevieve and Max... their cat and mouse game was simply delicious... like a perfect waltz!! These two are delightful and they made me giggle so much!! I love all of Genevieve’s euphemisms for bed sport... I was like, laugh-snort, y’all!!

Genevieve is a trouser wearing heroine and she makes no apologies for her brashness. Her unpolished demeanor is quite refreshing and I love that she says what she means. She may be my first book “girlfriend”... I totally have a huge crush on her!!

Max has a totally chill attitude when it comes to life. I was a little worried because of his gambling and he’s a bit of a ne’er-do-well, but Genevieve was constantly putting him in his place... and I hope he’ll always strive to be a better man for her. Well, she’ll gut him if he doesn’t. By the end of the book I was totally #TeamMax.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Scarlett Scott’s Winters is one of my favorite family saga series... it’s up there with Johanna Lindsay’s Malorys and Julia Quinn’s Bridgertons... ‘cept the Winters are spicier and hotter. I love this Wicked Winters Land that Scarlett Scott has created... so many feely-feels with each book!! This one is another winner!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.

My Star Rating: 4 1/2 stars

Series: The Wicked Winters #11
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

Genevieve has been tasked with keeping an eye on the Marquess of Sundenbury and he is tasked with making her more ladylike. But Gen isn’t like other women and refuses to be wooed by a pretty boy with gambling problems.

This was a very fast paced romance with a fast paced relationship. Gen is a very unique woman. She refuses to wear dresses, act like a woman of the times, and is determined to open her own gambling den for women. I really liked Gen because she was such a unique woman and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. Gen and Max’s relationship was very fast paced but I still enjoyed their adventure.

Max was a man who was trying to reset his life. He went down the rabbit hole of gambling and drinking and is now trying to repair the damage from that. I liked that he was trying to find himself again and I loved how supportive he was of Gen’s dream to run a gambling den for women. He was a good partner for her because he never tried to change her into what society expected of women of that time, nor did he stop her from opening a gambling den for women. These two were just a good, if a little surprising, couple and I can see them being having a successful HEA.

Overall, I enjoyed seeing the only female Winter sibling fall in love. I am looking forward to the next book.

4/5.

This book didn’t disappoint. I am so fond of the Winter family. Seeing each of them settle and getting the happy ever after they deserve after the hardships each of them suffered (most of all the “bastards” ones) is really satisfying.

Gen is a strong and hardworking woman trying her best to open her establishment “Lady Fortune” for the aristocratic ladies out there. Max struck a one month bargain to help her fit to the “haut monde” so she can run her establishment and he tries his best to smooth things with his father the Duke after losing huge amounts of money at the tables.

Didn’t give a 5stars rating because even thought I liked the story, the chemistry between them, how protective he was of her the entire time, I wish we could have seen Max in another light. He appears in book “Winter’s wallflower” when his little sister sacrificed herself to Dominic Winter, Gen’s older brother and head of the “bastards Winter”. I pictured him as a weak and coward man letting his sister take care of the matter.
In this book we see him trying to be a better man and this thanks to his love for Gen. But his every actions revolves around her. I wish he could have built something to himself.

At the end of the book my question is : Who is Max without Gen ?

Another great installment of the Wicked Winters series!!! Max, the Marquess of Sundenbury is always in trouble and is finally cut off by his father. Genevieve, the bastard daughter of the Winter family needs help in opening her ladies gaming establishment. They strike a bargain to help each other out for a month. She will keep him out of trouble and he will teach her how to be a lady. What could go wrong? They are complete opposites but they always say opposites attract and these two certainly do.
Max finds Gen's independent spirit and wit intoxicating and can't stay away from her. He has never met anyone like her. Gen at first thinks Max is nothing but a handsome scoundrel but soon finds there is so much more to him. There is wonderful playful banter between these two characters that keeps the story engaging. Someone is trying to sabotage Gen's plans to open her gaming establishment and Max vows to find out who this is. Can Max and Gen overcome their differences and stations in life to find their HEA? You will love this book and the delightful interactions between these characters along with the steamy love scenes. I received an ARC of this book and is my honest review.

Gen is reluctant to involve her brother but when Max saves the lives of her pet and everyone in the club she starts to see him other than a very handsome privileged Lord!

He agrees to one night but he knows he wants forever! How to convince Gen that someone close to her is sabotaging the club and win her trust again after another incident causes him to leave at the club.
There chemistry is off the charts can two very opposite people set aside their differences for love?

Genevieve – or Satan’s Minion, as Max thinks of her – is a young woman who survived a brutal childhood that would have destroyed most people. She has become fiercely independent and determined to define her own place in the world. Max is a man with awesome dimples, loads of charm and zero luck at the gaming table. He is the scapegrace heir to a Duke, seemingly shallow but with a lot more depth than people recognize.

Max’ sisters are married to a couple of her brothers, which you may have known if you’ve been reading this series. Don’t worry though, because you can definitely enjoy this as a stand-alone. When family members arrange for Max to work off his debt by giving Genevieve lessons in how to behave like a Lady, they both end up playing a game neither has ever experienced before, and both their hearts are being gambled.

There is a beloved dog, covert sausages, a cute pickpocket, clever wordplay, a memorable waltz, serious danger, devastating betrayal, and enough passion to light up a dark world. The only way this novella could’ve been better would’ve been for it to have been longer, so I could spend more time with the dynamic characters. This was such a pleasure to read!

Genevieve (Gen) is just about to open her gaming hell for women. She doesn't need something else on her plate, but she has been tasked with keeping an eye on the Marquess of Sundenbury. In exchange, he will give her the polish she needs to make her business successful.

Max has made a mess of things. Because of this, his father has cut off his funds. He needs to spend some time away from the ton to reform his reputation. What Max didn't count on was his attraction to Gen. He was staying with her to reform his reputation, but she was leading him down a dangerous path.

What will happen to this unlikely duo?

I adored Gen and Max's story!! The bantering and the antics these two had had me laughing out loud at times. These two were definitely opposites of one another, but you know what they say about that...

This was a great addition to the Wicked Winters series and I can't wait for the next one!!

Opposites Attract

Genevieve Winter (Gen) was sister to the five Wicked Winter brothers. Although she was very beautiful, she wore men's clothing, was always armed with a knife(s), knew self-defense, and liked to tattoo her brothers. Marquees of Sundenbury (Max) was heir to the Duke of Lindross. Max wasted his time with drink, gambling, and women. His sister asked Gen to keep an eye on him and keep him out of trouble. They were perfect for each other because his fascination with her changed him. He becomes her protector and helps her heal from a childhood trauma. Gen was surprised that she had feelings for Max and decided to explore a relationship. Gen was tough and strong, but Max helped her discover what she was missing. Their love was fierce and awesome. Once again Scarlett creates compelling stories about a historical romance.

Max and Gen are absolutely delightful in Winter’s Waltz. From their introductions in previous books, I knew I would love Gen. She is strong, independent, with her own style of doing things. But as with all the Wicked Winters, she’s also vulnerable in really terrific ways, a perfect foil for someone to come in and help shore her up and let her strength shine through.

I wasn’t so sure Max was redeemable, but as usual, Scarlett Scott makes real characters with real faults and makes them lovable anyway. The best word I can use for Max is that he’s something of a scamp. Very good at using his charm to his advantage. But he grows and learns a lot in his story with Gen and I was rooting them on throughout.

These two are very passionate and I loved every bit of it. I love ALL the Winters stories, but this one is up there at the top! A must read!
