Trent

I was doing just fine with my life. I had it all. A nice home, a good job, my family and friends. In a small town like Peachtree, that’s all you need right? That’s what I thought too, and then I met her.
She ran right into my life and turned it upside down. She’s gorgeous and made just for me. So what’s the problem? Well, an abusive fiancé is kind of a mood killer. When she needs my help in getting away from the one hurting her, I don’t hesitate. I know I need to protect her, but how can I convince her that I can? How can I make her believe that I want to be with her?
When our life together is threatened, I’ll do everything I can to make sure she’s safe. Even if it’s with my last breath.

Charlotte

My life was not my own. I was living every day thinking about how I could leave, how I could get away from his grasp. Fate had her own plans though. She landed me into this small town for a reason. I just didn’t know what that reason was until I met him.
Running into a fairy tale life seemed like the perfect remedy after all the crap I’ve been through. But how can it be real? Can I really let go of my past and move forward with my knight in shining armor?
When my choices are taken away from me, my worries don’t seem so important. He found me once, but how do I know he can find me again?

Officer Trent Mason meeting the beautifully damaged Charlotte Lexington was a fate run in. After he saves her from a terrible incident, they’re connection strengthens. They both have a past that’s holding them back from their future. Can they give in to their desires and put the past behind them? Or will the chance to explore their chemistry be taken away before they get the chance?

Due to the nature of the content and potential trigger warnings, not suitable for readers under 18 years of age.

3.75 STARS!
"We're going to get you through this, and we're going to do it together."
So it's possible that my feminist card needs to be revoked . . . but this boy-saves-girl tale - that had Daddy vibes all over it - REALLY hit the spot!!

Plot in a nutshell: Charlie is in an abusive relationship. Isolated and unsure of how to get out, she gets lucky one day when she runs into Trent - literally.
"One look at you and I knew that you were going to be someone important to me."
A few days later, Officer Trent is on a domestic abuse call and who does he find? Charlie.
She needs me to be the person to step up and soothe her, take care of her.
Trent was a bit over the top, but I dug it, you guys . . . I TOTALLY dug it. The Daddy vibes he gave off were hot as hell. Because sometimes in fantasyland all you really need is a man to protect, guide and explain everything to you.
"Anytime you feel like you aren't good enough, or brave enough, or strong enough, you come and tell me and I'll make sure to remind you every single time what an amazing woman you are."
Admittedly, Charlie was portrayed to be a bit childlike, but doesn't everyone need someone to go to bat for them once in a while?
I honestly don't have words for this man. Everything he does is so intentionally sweet and considerate that it makes me want to put all my trust, my safety, and even my future into his hands.
I really liked that Trent was so sweet and didn't take advantage of Charlie.
"Didn't know how you like your eggs, so they're scrambled. Not that I can make any other kind, but I would have tried."
Good stuff!!

I think the book needed another round of edits, but author Lauren Simpson has a ton of talent. I'll be watching for more from her in the future!

*I received this book free from the author.*

Trent is a police officer who shares a house with his best friend/partner. He has a loving family, whom he has dinner with every week. Overall, he is content with his life. A fact that changes the moment he stares down into the eyes of a woman who literally ran into him. An instant connection that changed his contention into desire and need.

"I would give my life just to protect her, I know that much for certain."

Charlie's life wasn't what she had envisioned for herself. Her parents died in a car accident leaving her without any family. All she had was an abusive fiancé who made her so dependent that she couldn't leave him even though she wanted to. That all changed with one neighbors call to the police station. When her knight with a shiny police badge walked in and rescued her.

Waiting For Him is a fast-paced love story filled with sleezy ex's, unexpected betrayals, and a family that gives strength and support to all who are a part of it.

"If you're mine, then you're theirs. Simple as that."

Did I think a few parts were cheesy? Most definitely. Did I possibly gasp and find myself holding my breath at moments? Oh my goodness YES! But would I recommend it to you to read? If abuse isn't a trigger for you, then yes, by all means read it.

Trent is the most supportive guy that everyone wishes they had in their lives. He alone (and me imagining him in uniform) would have been enough for me to enjoy the book, but it also had a lot of supportive characters that I couldn't help but love too.

GAH! I seriously loved this story. I cannot believe this is Lauren’s debut album, it was phenomenal. I now have another author to stalk. Hahaha!

From the first page, I was sucked in and didn’t put it down until the final word. IT WAS THAT GOOD! Charlie is so relatable, she is brave but vulnerable and her growth is a beautiful thing to read. Trent, the gorgeous MC, is every woman’s white knight, wanting to protect Charlie in every way conceivable. He brings such a fierceness to this story and I was here for it!

Their love story is powerful and built on trust and true love, but isn’t fluff. It’s not an easy romance, but it’s so deliciously worth all the twists and turns this book takes you through to get to that HEA.

Well done, Lauren, I cannot wait to read what you put out next!

For a debut book, Lauren Simpson debuts very well. I am always willing to give a new author a read. There are some hard topics in this book, and they are not skimmed over which I appreciated. This is the story of Trent and and Charlotte who goes by Charlie. Trent see Charlie and it is love at first sight for him, but she is currently unhappily engaged. Without giving any information away, Trent helps Charlie out the situation she is living in, and they come tougher in time as Charlie is able to win back her independence and self-confidence. The love and devotion between these two was wonderful to read, and the turning point of the story was surprising in the way it panned out. This is book one of a series, and the author sets in motion with her secondary characters the couple of the next book. Trent and Charlie were sweet to read, and I can’t wait to get more from this author!!

From the moment I started to read this book i couldn’t put it down! The connection with Trent and Charlotte (aka Charlie) is unreal. The book was beautifully written and it talks about some important issues and real life problems we have today. Sometimes we don’t realize we need the knight in shiny armor. We know we are strong, but we just need that one person we can lean on for anything. Trent is everything you could want in a man. He’s thoughtful, caring, loving, and makes sure everyone he loves is safe and protected. I mean what else could you ask for in a sexy cop;) Charlie sure realized it. She knew he was one of the good ones. The emotions it makes you feel is... wow. Simply wow. Would recommend this to anyone who loves small town romances and caring men!

Final Score - 4.5 Stars!

Review to come ... when I’m less emotional after having read this! (edited on 1/24/2021)

Ok. I seriously need to be in my feels after having read this story and then followed it up by reading even more emotional love stories afterward. However, this one has remained stuck in my head - I adored this story so. I cannot believe debut novel. Wow factor! I will now have to add this author my ever growing list of authors to look out for.

From the very first page, until the very last sentence read - I was hooked! Sucked in and didn’t now the emotional ride I was headed for. Captivating. Enthralled. This book came at time when I needed an emotional outlet of my charged up, not quite firing emotions. This book let them all rip out! The vulnerability and growth of the main character was like the metamorphous of a beautiful butterfly coming out of its cocoon. And Trent - gah! Gorgeous, alpha male to the T, he ferociousness in wanting not only Charlie but to protect her? Where is he? Men like him simply do not exist - and this is not only disappointing, but troubling as well!

This is a love story for the ages. Powerful in its message. Built on a solid foundation. But, it's also steeped in truth - nothing unrealistic and always honest. The course of love doesn't run smooth, but if you can get thru the rough times and forked roads that try to lead off course, it's worth the time and effort.
