Laurel Peters is smart, beautiful, kind… and only 21 years old. Did I mention that she’s also my best friend’s little sister and my new part-time assistant?
In other words: Hands, off Cal.
Which absolutely, without a doubt would not have been a problem… until she kissed me. An all-encompassing, time-stopping, spin the world on its axis kind of kiss.
And now I can’t stay away.
We just need to get through this summer with our feelings in check… and our pants zipped up. No problem. It’s not like we’re in love... Right?
Katana Collins is a USA Today bestselling author of over twenty novels, novellas, and comic books in a variety of genres. She is most known for her sensual contemporary romances and her wildly popular comic book— Batman White Knight Presents: Harley Quinn with DC Comics.
When she was younger and stole her mother’s Harlequins to read beneath the covers with a flashlight, she wanted to read about the tough as nails heroine. The perfectly imperfect girl with quirks and attitude and sass. And the anti-heroes who were anything but “Prince Charming.” Forget the knight on a white horse … she wanted the bad boy on a motorcycle.
An avid animal lover, she lives in Portland, Maine with her kind of mean cat, derpy lab-pitt mix, mellow chihuahua, and very not mellow cairn terrier puppy. Oh, yeah… there’s a husband somewhere in that mix, too.
She can usually be found in a coffee shop with her nose buried in a laptop wearing fabulous (albeit sometimes impractical) shoes.

This was yet another quick and delicious read in the Rescue Me series!
Cal is one of four Murphy brothers and while at a bar one night, he spots a gorgeous, long-legged woman and just had to talk to her. Had to dance with her. Had to kiss her.
After the kiss, she had to leave right away with her friend. He never got her name. Well, not her full name anyway.
Turns out he knew her...from years ago. And she’s not the girl he remembers.
A 9-year age difference did not stop these two from realizing they wanted & needed to be together. Sparks fly, chemistry sizzles, and hearts are very happy in this charming story.
This story was quick, it was sweet, and definitely sexy.
Unrequited love for Laurel who has loved Cal from afar forever, now with one drunken kiss she may have finally caught his attention. I liked Cal’s reaction when his brothers give him the identity of who he kissed, great chemistry with this couple and recognizing their feelings for each other. The ending was very cute as it was Cal’s turn to wait for Laurel.
I am voluntarily leaving a review for this book that I received free.
This is a sweet story. It is about a young woman, Laurel, who madly loves the boy, who once lived next door. The problem is, Cal is nine-years-older than she is. Her heart has been his since kindergarten, he and everyone else knew about the crush, figuring she would outgrow it.
Now Laurel is twenty-one and runs into, Cal at the local bar, where the cast and crew, are having the seasonal wrap-up party. It's to celebrate being signed for another year. When all of a sudden, Cal notices this gorgeous auburn-haired beauty, walk-in into the bar, that he has to meet.
Being several drinks down, Cal who doesn't normally drink is not seeing or acting normally. But, not drunk. Therefore, he has to meet the auburn beauty. Now if he was fully clear he would have heard Smurf say, “Hey, isn’t that...?” Before being cut off by, Josh.
Yup! Cal knows her. But, he doesn't know that when he rescues her, dances with her, and kisses her. Before she leaves quickly. Great characters. Funny read.
Callahan (“Cal”) is one of the Murphy brothers who have their own reality show that was just renewed for the following season. While celebrating at a bar with his brothers and the crew, he sees a gorgeous woman. One of his brothers starts to say something, but the other grinned and told him to be quiet, which should have been a clue to Cal. But they were all fairly tipsy by that time. He sees an older man hit on her and her discomfort, so he steps in to help her. At 6’3”, Cal’s looming presence convinced the guy to wisely move away from her. When Cal asked if he could get her anything to drink, she asked him for a dance. She chuckled when she realized he didn’t recognize her. When he asked her name, she told him to kiss her first and then she would tell him. But after the kiss, she said she had to leave and told him her friends call her Elle.
Returning to his brothers, they called him an idiot and were laughing. He still didn’t get what had happened, so Josh told him that beautiful young woman had a crush on him since she was 5! She was Cole Peters’ little sister Laurel, their former next-door neighbor! The next day when Cole arrived at her parents’ house to take Laurel to brunch, she brought Dom, Cal’s twin, along. She told Laurel she had to drop something off to Cal and would invite him as well, and Laurel watched as Dom’s face went pale, and Laurel’s friend scurried off saying she had something to do.
When Cole, Dom, and Laurel arrived at Cal’s (which is hilariously funny), talk turned to all the fanmail he hadn’t responded to yet because he had to let his assistant go. Cole immediately suggests Laurel as his assistant since she needed money and was home for the summer. Cal and Laurel stayed behind while Dom and Cole went to brunch. He told Laurel they could not be together and she shot down his arguments. Then she put her arms around him and kissed him. This was to be their goodbye kiss. Would he really let her go now? Or will she be able to convince him this time that she loves him and they belong together?
This was such a great story that kept me laughing and loving the characters more and more. It’s now up to Laurel and whether she can make Cal believe that she is serious about him and nothing else should matter. Grab your copy and see whether another Murphy is destined for more than he ever figured on!
Laurel Peters has had a crush on Cal Murphy for nearly her whole life. Cal’s twin brother, Dom, dated Laurel’s sister in high school. After a ‘falling out’ time, Dom and Nicole are dating again, but Cal hasn’t seen Laurel in years. She’s grown up a bit, and is now a beauty. Cal and his brothers are celebrating the end of another successful season of filming their TV show, when he spots a beautiful young lady getting harassed, and steps in to help her out. She recognizes him immediately, but he doesn’t recognize her. They dance, flirt, and kiss, and then she abruptly leaves. Cal is surprised to learn who she is after she is gone. He later ends up hiring her to be his personal assistant, giving them time to get to know each other. She discovers that there is more to Cal than meets the eye. He can run, but he can’t hide from his fate, and these two belong together!
This story moves along continuously, without slowing. The conflicts are laid out for each protagonist, and there is some family interaction that adds some comedy relief. This story is a novella, like the other stories about the Murphy brothers in this series. However, it spans multiple years, so that makes it more believable somehow. The ending is perfect and involves a cat. This story is entertaining and lighthearted and fun!

This is the third of 3 novellas in the Rescue Me series, with a 4th story in the 1001 Dark Nights Short Story Anthology 2020. The stories are all steamy standalone romances about one of the 4 Murphy brothers who are on a very popular comedy prank show. This one follows Cal Murphy, as he runs into a beautiful woman at a bar once night as the crew from the show wraps up filming for the season. They dance, they kiss, she walks away, and he finds out she is his twin brother's little sister who is now all grown up. Laurel. used to be the annoying little sister who has been hopelessly in love with Cal for as long as she can remember. She is 9 years younger than Cal so he never gave her a romantic thought growing up, but now that they are adults all bets are off and she can finally tell Cal how she really feels and he can see her as a woman not a little girl.
This a little insta-lovey for my tastes, even if the couple already kind of knows each other. It is still fun and steamy in the 50 or so pages. If you are looking for something light and quick this is a good option!
This is another cute story from Katana Collins involving one of the Murphy brother twins – Cal. This also involves his twin brothers (Dom) girlfriend’s (Cole) sister Laurel, who is 9 years younger than him. Laurel has been in love with Cal ever since she could remember. Cal and Laurel meet up in a bar – only Cal is unaware that this is Laurel. They share a kiss and Cal is hooked from that moment on. Laurel leaves right after the kiss and Cal is a little upset that she left. Cal goes back to his brothers and only then does he find out who she really is. Laurel shows up the next day with Cole and Dom at Cal’s house and Cal is a little surprised when Cole offer’s Laurel to be his assistant for the summer. He’s a little hesitant at first but finally agrees.
The romance happened very quickly (within 2 days) and escalated from there! Laurel knew what she wanted and went after it. Of course her sister had a few things to say about it, but Laurel stood her ground and fought for what she wanted.

This is a short sweet insta-love story that will make you swoon and happy, but won't stress you or make you feel for the characters too deeply. It's perfect for people looking for a sweet love story that won't take too much of their time and will leave them with a nice feeling in their chest. It can be read as a standalone, although the previous books let you get to know the other characters of the book and if you liked this one, you'll probably enjoy the others.
Laurel has had a crush on Cal for a long time but he never saw her like more than his brother's girlfriend's little sister. Until now. Now she's all grown up and he can't stop looking at her. It's only made worse by the fact that he kissed her when he didn't know who she was and now he can't stop thinking about doing it again. She's forbidden, but their attraction to each other is deep and maybe if they cross those lines, the result won't be that bad and the reward will outweigh the risk. But can they fall for each other without causing problems within their respective families? Are they willing to risk it? I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
It looks like the Murphy brothers are dropping like flies, and Cal Murphy is the next to fall prey to Cupid’s arrow. As the star of a wildly popular prank type reality television show with his brothers, he's used to people he doesn’t know recognizing him.
So it's no surprise that the gorgeous redhead he rescues from being hit on at the bar knows who he is. But it's not until after he's made out with her on the dance floor that his brother points out she's the girl who grew up in the house next to theirs. The nine-years-younger sister of his brother's fiancée.
Laurel has had a crush on Cal for most of her life. But she's not the girl in braids with the scraped knee anymore, and no matter how much her sister might disapprove, if Laurel has a chance with Cal, she's determined to grab it with both hands.
If you don’t have a lot of time but need a quick escape, this is the perfect read for you. Short and sweet but plenty steamy, this insta-love story will sweep you away, leaving you with a smile on your face and a happy sigh in your heart!
Katana Collins' third installment in her Rescue Me series, His Summer Kitten, is Cal Murphy's story. As much as I loved Josh and Sam's stories, Cal and Laurel are my favourite couple. She was literally the girl next door while he was growing up, but at nine years younger back then she was just an annoying tag-along. Fast forward to her home for the summer at age twenty-one, and he does not even recognize the beautiful woman she's become at first. But Laurel has had a crush since she was a child and is not going to let the opportunity pass her by. And despite the age difference, Cal cannot ignore the way he feels about her. Together they have absolutely smoking chemistry, and are both adorable and freaking hot together.
This has been such a fun, entertaining and engaging series of novellas and I cannot recommend reading all three of them enough!

His Summer Kitten by Katana Collins is part of the Rescue Me series. Each novella is a stand-alone novel of one of the featured brothers and can be read in any order. Callahan Murphy is one of the Murphy Brothers. He and his brothers have a prank style show where he and his brothers play pranks on each other with the help if the public sometimes. In this novel, Cal is hit with a blast from the past. His brothers girlfriends little sister. She is everything but a little kid anymore and the sparks are still there... for her.
Laurel is a virgin and she wants Cal to be her first. She catches his eye one night and the rest is history.
This book is sizzling hot. I love how Cals character is a hardass one second and then becomes a huge teddy bear.
This novella is really sweet and romantic. I highly recommend this short but quick read. I especially recommend it to lovers of age-gap romance.
This little book was okay. I’m not sure if I want to give it 1 or 2 stars. Maybe it deserves 1.5?
It’s just one of this silly romance novels. The story isn’t really that great, but it could have been. Laurel is 9 years younger than Callahan, who she has loved since she was a kid. Ok, so this isn’t the worse premise for a story. She runs into Cal at a bar one night after not seeing him for a few years, and he doesn’t realize it is her. Once he realizes it is her, the next day, they hang out, and he suddenly realizes he’s in love with her. *eyeroll* I don’t know if the story was just set out to be a little novella or what, but if she had written it as a full novel, the story wouldn’t have been as ridiculous as this was. Don’t even get me started on how ridiculous this title is.

What a quick but sweet instant love read! His Summer Kitten was the last book in the Rescue Me Series. It was fun, flirty, and sexy!
Laurel started a new job with the one person she had had a crush on for forever! She knew she would have to keep that info to herself - he was a lot older and his friends little sister...but what would happen when he finally noticed her?
Cal knew Laurel would be trouble as soon as he saw her. He was going to have to work double time to keep his feelings at bay. But when they both decide to act on it, would it work out or fall apart?
I liked that there was a full story even though it was a novella! It was a fun escape with yet another super hot brother and cute animals!!
This is book three in the Rescue Me series. It can be read as a standalone, but this series is about brothers, so they are connected. It's steamy, fast paced instalove short story. Cal and Laurel hair known each other for years. Laurel has been crushing on Cal for years but he's never seen her as anything more than his brother’s girlfriend Cole's baby sister. Cal kisses Laurel one night not realizing who she was and now he can't stop thinking about her but he resists because she’s nine year younger and Cole's sister. Can Laurel change his mind?

When he rescues the lovely Elle from a jerk. Once they share a dance she runs. When his brother Dom informs him that Elle is in fact Laurel, Nicole's sister and the neighbor girl, Cal is shocked. Great HEA.

She’s Laurel their neighbor when they grew up and her older brother his best friend! Laurel has been in love with Cal since she was five and later she gets offered a job as his part time assistant. But he says they can’t be together but he can’t convince himself! What will happen?

I found this to be an okay read but I finished the book. It felt like the author was in too much of a rush to get the characters together. I found it to be a bit too rushed and hard to actually get to know the characters. It moved quickly and the characters sort of just fell in together.
I give this a three out of five stars. The book moved a little too quickly for my taste even for being an insta love work. I just wasn’t that impressed but I read the first two and just wanted to see how the series ended for the brothers.

I am so glad I discovered this great series by Katana Collins. In book 3 we get Cal and Laurel's story. Cal is one of the Murphy brothers who have their own reality show. While out with his brothers he meets a beautiful woman he cannot get her off his mind. He is shocked when he realizes she is Laurel, the young girl who grew up next door. Laurel has crushed on Cal Murphy since she was a little girl. Now that she is 21 and home from college, will she finally get her chance to prove she is the one for him?
After reading this book I had to take a little time to compose myself and get my thoughts clear in my head before I put them in a review. Wow this book was amazingly written. Once I started I couldn’t put it down till I was finished. This book has twists and turns you don’t know what’s happening. will they all get there happily ever after or will it all go wrong. To find out what happens go buy the book. You won’t be disappointed I wasn’t.

She has been in love with him as long as she can remember, he has always viewed her as his friend's little sister. One night changes everything. Will he allow feelings to evolve?
I was really excited to see him fall after reading his brother's falling one by one and him seeming the most cynical. I loved how she knew what she wanted and went after it. Good read!

Katana Collins did a good job on this story. His Summer Kitten was a good story, the plot and characters were strong, the story was written well. Cal and Laurel's journey had it's ups and downs but these two were meant for each other. The connection between them was strong, they were drawn to one another. Their attraction was strong, the chemistry was sexy between them, they were good together. I enjoyed this story. Thanks, Katana Collins. Good work :)
These brothers fall hard and fast, don't they? When Cal comes to the defense of a damsel in distress, he has no idea it's the younger girl next door who'd always had a crush on him. Add in a very healthy dose of lust and insta-love and you have a great quick read.
His Summer Kitten is the next book in the Rescue Me series and Cal's story is just as fun and sexy as his brother's books. Laurel has had an attraction to Cal for a long time and now she is all grown up and makes an impact on Cal. I have enjoyed every book in this series and can't wait for the last brother to get his book.
Cal and Laurel are so freaking sweet I have a toothache! Unrequited love meets instalove. Cal was so patient, waiting for her to be ready for marriage. Laurel never really gave up on her love for Cal, even when it seemed hopeless.

This was a fast, sweet read! Cal and Laurel have known each other for years because of her sister. However, they hadn't seen each other in quite some time. And while who she was related to threw him off a little, Laurel was determined. These two clicked and this was a sweet story to get lost in! If you're looking for an easy to read, sexy book then be sure to grab this one!
This is Cal's story, who gets involved with a woman that he meets in bar, when he sees her and is so enthralled with her that he has to kiss her and dance with her. The dual first person point of view, was perfect for this short story. Great characters, overall an easy, quick read.

LOVED finally reading about Cal’s happily ever after! This story was super hot and steamy when Cal falls for a girl at the bar before realizing that he’s known her almost her whole life. Laurel is all grown up now and ready for Cal to see her as more. This story was just a great addition to this series!
