REVIEW: BLOOD OF THE FAE is the second instalment in Carly Fall’s contemporary, adult THE FORBIDDEN FAE paranormal series. BLOOD OF THE FAE continues to focus on half-Fae Avery Dubois, and wolf-shifter Gabe Turneaux. BLOOD OF THE FAE should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up shortly after the events of book one -Revenge of the Fae.

NOTE: BLOOD OF THE FAE contains scenes of graphic violence and may not be suitable for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Avery and Gabe) BLOOD OF THE FAE finds our heroine, half-Fae Avery Dubois working as a diner waitress in Blaine, Washington, a town rife with supernatural species. An unexpected visit from wolf-shifter and Spectral Prison guard Gabe Turneaux reveals an underground supernatural element targeting the Fae for their blood and their power. Hiding under Gabe’s protection with the Bellevue Pack, Avery is abducted and learns quickly that everyone is suspect, and someone is going to die. Fae blood is a hot commodity, and someone close is caught in the mix.

BLOOD OF THE FAE is a fast paced, action packed story of family, friendship, betrayal and revenge. Carly Fall pulls the reader into a story of power, greed and deception. Avery Dubois struggles in the face of adversity and heartbreak; not all supernatural heroines are powerful or strong. BLOOD OF THE FAE is an imaginative and energetic instalment in Carly Fall’s THE FORBIDDEN FAE series.

Avery has been working back in the diner and it has been two months since she has seen Gabe. When the weather clears she will work back in construction as before. Another waitress, Grace told Avery some guy was looking for her and she had no idea who it could be. Gabe makes an appearance looking for Avery because he found her FATHER!!! Her father wants to see her and Avery goes ahead and agrees. Her father let her know she is in danger because Fae have been disappearing and turning up dead drained of blood. Then, Madge is attacked and left for dead. Turns out Madge and Avery’s dad Preston knew each other from having an affair from long ago.
Then her dad turns up missing after two men attacked her in a hotel. She recognizes the sent from Gabe’s pack and Devon arranges for her to sniff them out but could not find who it was. Meanwhile, the mayor was killed as he was a Fae and they found two vampire names on his side table. They both swear they had nothing to do with the issues. Gabe was hurt when a truck shot at them and Madge had to take care of him. Avery was then kidnapped and put in a cell alongside her father by the same men. Who is it? Why are they doing this? Will they both get out alive? Come along on another crime spree with Gabe and Avery and the journey they take to solve the crimes! This is an action-packed fast read that will leave you guessing until almost the end about who is involved. I know my jaw dropped when I found out who the lead was behind all the crimes. In this second book in the Forbidden Fae series, Avery is working as a waitress when Gabe comes looking for her. He's not the first person or even second she wants to see. But the news Gabe needs to impart to her, that her father wants to see her and then learning someone or some group is kidnapping Fae, draining their blood has left her shaken. There may be nowhere safe for Avery especially if someone close to her is involved. Teaming up with Gabe maybe her best chance to find out what is happening. This story holds your attention as the suspense builds. I think you could start with this book if you wanted to jump into the series here but you'll better understand what has brought Gabe into Avery's life and the circumstances of how they are connected to the storyline if you read Revenge of the Fae first, and really who doesn't want to read another good book! Blood of the Fae is an enjoyable read for those who like paranormal suspense

Ready for book 3!

This story picks up right where book 1 leaves off. Avery has moved on with her life after her escape from Spectral Prison and solving the mystery of her mother's murder. When sexy shapeshifter Gabe turns up with her father in tow Avery finds herself right where she doesn't want to be ... in the middle of another mystery involving murder and paranormal entities. This case involves missing and dead Fae , presumably taken for their valuable blood. As Avery and Gabe work to put an end to the deadly and illegal trade, theres lots of action and suspense as well as a few surprising twists. The romance between these two finally starts to blossom, but happens organically ... not at all forced or rushed. The ending drops a pretty big bomb that will have readers ready to jump into book 3 to find out where the story takes us next. A well written sequel in this engaging series, with likable characters, a snappy, fast pace, and plenty of action!

Great second book!

This is the 2nd. book in this series. It has a great story line, and is well written. The characters are awesome. Avery's father shows up in Seattle. After years of not seeing him, he came to let Avery know because she is half Fae she is in danger. And yet again, she is pulled into the paranormal world. Gabe had been trying to stay out of Avery's life. But when her father asks him to protect her and be her body guard this changes. But Gabe wants revenge, and he won't stop until he has his revenge. This book is fast paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat. It is really a great book. I highly recommend this book!

Good

The story continues with this 2nd installment and Avery gets herself into trouble again. Yet she proves herself strong and comes through in the end. I look forward to her telling her father what she feels. I hope it helps although in have my doubts. I love both Avery and Gabe and I look forward to finding out what happens next. This book had stron profanity and a sexual situation that was awkward and a bit detailed. Definitely adult.
