Handy overview of sharks and their characteristics/specifications. I was missing some classic extinct ones like Megalodon but this book only includes not extinct sharks. My favourite is the Thresher shark with its beautiful whipping tail. Definitely a fun book to flip through on the toilet. Would recommend it. 👍🏻

A handy pictorial guide to sharks that would supposedly aid in the identification of different species from parts such as fins and teeth, though why would a layperson try to do such a thing at a fish market is unfathomable to me. Such tasks would likely only be conducted by fishery experts or scientists working in conservation or enforcing trade regulations. For the average person and amateur nature enthusiasts, the well drawn colorful illustrations of the diverse array of sharks are the main attraction of this book, but I am afraid also the only appeal, since there is scarcely space left for the text to explain their biology and habits. The focus is purely on identifying so much effort is spent on physical description and nothing much else.

a useful identification guide! while i don’t really have the means or opportunity to need use of this information i do think it’s sufficient for those who do!
