Holidays, relatives, pressure to marry—sometimes it is all too much. Is it any wonder a woman may need to escape? The heroines in this collection of stories aren't afraid to take matters into their own hands when they've had enough.

Susana has always had stories in her head waiting to come out, especially when she learned to read and her imagination began to soar. Voracious reading led to a passion for writing, and her fascination with romance and people of the past landed her firmly in the field of historical romance.
A teacher in her former life, Susana lives in Toledo, Ohio in the summer and central Florida in the winter. She is a member of the Central Florida Romance Writers and the Beau Monde chapters of RWA and Maumee Valley Romance Inc.
Under the Mistletoe, by Sherry Ewing. Tell me again why I love Sherry Ewing’s writing? I love. Love. Love this short holiday romantic read. Yes, I was instantly swept into the world of the roguishly handsome hero Viscount Fredrick Beecham and Lady Margaret’s love story. I found this book easy to read. It was very entertaining, which is always a joy for me. The suspense and drama was on point. Each page had the anticipation of what’s to happen next building with excitement. I had no clue that the story would have a plot like this. And the plot was it a good, let me tell you. The ending placed a warm smile on my face. Sufficed to say, I am very pleased with this story. Without giving to much away, I will share this. I am so happy that Frederick didn’t give up on his pursuit of Margaret. A number of lives were hanging in the balance if he had walked away. I loved everything about this story. Until next time my fellow readers... read on!
The first four novella's in this bundle were all part of a multi author bundle titled MISTLETOE, MARRIAGE AND MAYHEM. Last two are new.
1. ULTIMATE ESCAPE by Susana Ellie
I am not a fan of time travel stories and even though this is unique in some ways, they didn't act as surprised by some of the things they encountered in the 21 Century.
This would have done better being a full novel. A lot of what happened with Oliver and his wife, and different things with Julia, are explained after the fact and it was hard to feel a connection because of that.
This is a clean story, with only kisses. Because of both their lack of communication of their feelings for each other, lives are up ended.
We do get HEA and no cheating.
2. UNDER THE MISTLETOE: by Sherry Ewing
I loved this story even though short, the author pulled me in from the start until the end. This had suspense too which was a plus and a twist that surprised me. Which is hard to do in a novella.
Another clean story but I felt a connection to them, even though their relationship started years before.
3. GINGERBREAD BRIDE by Jude Knight
I've read many stories by this author and enjoy her character's. But, at times I felt confused with all the different people, and the story didn't flow smoothly.
I loved how our H kept rescuing our h and always seemed honored and not put out that she was in another fix. Our h, is kind and hasn't had the best life since her father died.
Neither knew that each loved the other and watching the realization unfold was enduring.
Romance builds slowly, we get HEA, no cheating and this is another clean story.
4. A DANGEROUS NATIVITY by Caroline Warfield
This is what I love about multi author bundles, you find new author's, and this is another that I will be signing up for her newsletter.
So much was unraveled in this novella, that I can't believe all the layer's we are treated too. We have character's that I felt I knew so much about, it felt like I read a full novel.
I enjoyed the banter with the boys, their caring hearts and also the things they came up with will make you laugh out loud. But, this is also, about sadness and how love can help you overcome many obstacles.
The H/h are both written with so much depth, that you can't help but care for them. There are secret's exposed and we get to go on a journey that was amazing to reach HEA plus no cheating.
This is a clean story with only kisses, but you still feel the love.
5. A GENTLEMEN HONORS HIS WORD by Jude Knight
Interesting story line and the chapter's go from her POV to his. Near the end it did get confusing. The H seemed honorable and not opposed to the wedding. Then we are told the h left him because of what she overheard. That whole conversation we are not told until near the end. How did the H know where to find the h when she left? How did the H get on the ship? Also, what exactly happened to her relatives?
You will feel sorry for the h for what her relatives put her through.
I felt too much we didn't get to experience. No cheating, HEA, no romance and clean.
6. ROOM AT THE END by Caroline Warfield
You will want the nasty sister in law of the H to get hers in the end, but she doesn't. The H's brother is so opposite of the H thank goodness.
The H/h just clicked in this short novella and their caring hearts came through for Samuel and each other.
Clean with only a few kisses. Sweet story with kind hearted main and secondary character's. One editing issue that I had to re-read. When at dinner said father when she was with her uncle.
I received an advanced copy, all opinions are my own and freely given. (ljb)
What is better than stories by the Belles? Silly question because they are fabulous apart but even better together!
The Ultimate Escape by Susana Ellis An almost reverse time travel romance from 1815 to the future! How exciting and original! A second chance seems to be in the cards for Julia and Oliver. She had loved him forever it seemed and yet he had married another.. Now years later, a widow he comes back into her life and asks her to marry him. What to do? Does he really love her now after all these years? Julia makes a jump to the future and Oliver follows to made her believe his love and the journey begins! Sweet and so worth reading!
Under the Mistletoe by Sherry Ewing One never knows what can happen at Christmas. For a novella, this story packed a lot into this delightful tale. The heart feels what the heart feels and sometimes nothing can change that! Margaret Templeton, daughter of a clergyman is content to be a spinster and take care of her sister and father. But her father is determined to have her marry and find her own happiness and family. Matching her up with Captain Sander Morledge to help him host his Christmas party, her father feels he has found her the perfect match. Unfortunately Margaret runs into her longtime friend and true love, Frederick Maddock, who is invited to the party. Sounds good so far? Well as I often say, things are not always as they appear and such is the case at Morledge's house. There is a hugh mystery and as the party begins, secrets come out and mistletoe works it magic!! As all of Sherry's stories, this will go on your to be read again shelf!!
Gingerbread Bride by Jude Knight He was rescuing her again. Lieutenant Rick Redepenning had been doing that since Mary was a child and he a Midshipman on her father's vessel. Of course she had been in love with him since his first rescue and that love only increased as he grew into a handsome man. But he would only ever see her as being nine she thought when seeing him for the first time in several years, he rescued her from a broken down coach! Rick had injured himself and had been trying to let his leg heal but it was certainly bringing him some pain, but after leaving Mary at her aunt's, he decided to go back and check on her. Well she was on the move again to another aunt's house when he caught up with her! A wonderful journey told in the unique and wonderful prose of Jude Knight, who makes us feel part of the story and we see it unfold. Rick wants to court Mary, while she is smitten over him, but it seems one incident or another keeps getting in the way, Especially one money hungry cousin Bosville (the idiot) who keeps turning up. Love, loved this story!! Now want some gingerbread cookies!
A Dangerous Nativity by Caroline Warfield A mystery, a broken sister and nephew, secrets and an unexpected attraction all pull together to bring this wonderful story to life. Will Chadbourn had come to support his sister, now widowed and his nephew Charles. What he found was a mess. Emotionally and physically. The estate was in a state of disrepair and neglect and his sister was so drugged up, she was constantly crying. His nephew was almost traumatized and not able to act as a little boy now that he held the title of the next duke. With all of this Will found Songbird Cottage, close to the estate and best of all Catherine and her two younger brothers. There was so much to this story, even though shorter, that I found I was enthralled to find out what would happen! Healing and a building love combined with a Nativity scene made entirely of animals made this an amazing story that I will not soon forget!
Utterly enchanting, the ladies never fail to bring us beautiful anthologies in the run up to Christmas, I adored reading some favourite stories and adding two more favourites to my list of beloved books.

Oh, this collection is so much fun! The stories are quick, have emotional impact and convoluted paths leading to happy endings. The characters are amazingly portrayed, making it easy to conjure up their images. Each story is engaging, well written and most enjoyable. This is a wonderful addition to anybody’s library.
The Ultimate Escape (Lady P Chronicles Book 1) - Susana Ellis Loved it! Oliver, Julia and Kate were childhood friends who got into all kinds of mischief together, Oliver has always loved Julia, but he didn’t know how she felt about him, and besides, she was an earl’s daughter and he a lowly banker. Well, one thing led to another, and years later he offers her marriage. However, she overhears hid father’s callous drunken remarks and flees......to the 21st Century! It’s a quick story with that has love, deception, misunderstandings, wonderful characters, a happy ending and time travel! What more can you want?
Under The Mistletoe - Sherry Ewing Terrific! Margaret and Frederick we childhood friends who fell in love. However, because she was a vicar’s daughter and he was a viscount, she refused his marriage proposal. As she ages, her father pesters her with eligible marriage partner. The lastest is Captain Morledge, who wants her to play hostess to his Christmas gathering. An unexpected meeting with Frederick throws everyone into a tizzy. There is just something ‘off’ with the Captain, and things become uncomfortable. This story is quick, has wonderful characters, a sense of foreboding and blissful ending.
Gingerbread Bride (Golden Redepennings Series novella) - Jude Knight Mary and Rick have known each other since childhood. It seemed that Rick was always rescuing her from one thing or another. Both fell in love with the other, but neither said anything about it. One year, prior to Christmas, Rick discovered Mary tramping through a field carrying luggage. They rekindled their friendship and he accompanied her as she travelled to her aunt’s home. After many complications, avoiding multiple tramps and a few more rescues, they finally discussed their feelings for each other. This is quick, fun and enjoyable. The are a variety of characters ranging from sniveling cowards and coniving relations, to handsome hero and independent heroine. Most enjoyable!
A Dangerous Nativity - Caroline Warfield William’s despicable brother-in-law and duke died leaving William to pick up the pieces of his estate, his wife, William’s sister, and his son, William’s nephew and now ward. Along the way, William meets and befriends the family on the neighboring estate, and tries to mend the relationship between the two families. This is an interesting story filled with secrets, unspoke horrors, patience, forgiveness and love. The characters are great! William is open, kind and intuitive. Catherine is smart, loving and steadfast. The boys are rambucious, innocent and accepting. Sylvia is a lost soul and Arthur learns to unburdon his. This story is very well done.
A Gentleman Honors His Word - Jude Knight This is a very clever little ditty about a scheming uncle, an abused niece and the man who saw and valued her worth. It is quick, original and satisfying.
Room at the Inn - Caroline Warfield Well, if you can read this without wanting to smack, beat, shoot, stab or obliterate a vertain two people, then you are a much better person than I. Declan is such a standup guy that he is paying for an infant’s care eventhough it is not his child. Maera, the vicar’s neice, often checks on the baby and the family caring for him. The two meet in a rather awkward way and find they enjoy each other’s company....and both are besotted by baby Samuel. Things get sticky and they find that they now need to be Samuel’s saviours. I adore this story, and I suspect the author had a great deal of fun writing it. It is so well written that you will quickly find yourself invested in the characters’s lives, while hoping for a happy ending...which you will get.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This collection has much to recommend it. I enjoyed many of the elements employed in the stories: time travel, friends-to-lovers, mystery/suspense, love across class lines, and more. Of course, all of them had that touch of the holiday to them that makes them more special. Unfortunately, I was not equally enamored of all the stories. I actually thought the first one was the weakest, dragged down by prodigious information dumps and long narrative Passages at the beginning. I also didn't like some of the crudeness of that book. I found the stories by the other authors more enjoyable.
Here’s my review of one story in this collection:
Gingerbread Bride by Jude Knight I found this book to be a pleasant surprise. No info dump here… yay! We still learn some background about the characters very quickly, but it is done within the construct of the hero and heroine meeting again unexpectedly. So we genuinely see that backstory through the character's eyes as they reminisce mentally when they see each other again. And these reminiscences had some delicious humor that I found highly amusing and which made me smile more than once. (I love some of these silly words the author incorporated, like collywobbles, as that added to the fun.) The author managed to create two very different but strong characters whose interactions were pleasing to follow.
The heroine has had a very different past than most heroines in historical romance. She has lived on her father's ship since she was a child, and she only has now returned to England to live because of her father's death. She is shipped off to one aunt, who has designs for her son to marry her because they want access to her inheritance. In running away from these machinations to see another aunt, she runs into the hero who just happens to be in the area (right around the time when she is very nearly set upon by ne’er-do-wells. He began working on her father's ship as a young man, so they've been nearly lifelong friends. I loved some stories from their childhoods. He was not only her rescuer and confidante, but he also taught her how to defend herself when needed. Because the heroine has always seen the hero through a child's eyes, she does somewhat see him as a knight-in-shining-armor kind of man.
I don't want to give away too much more away, but I so enjoyed watching the unfolding romance between the two characters. I love how the hero was so protective, even though the heroine could often take care of herself (because of all that he’d taught her earlier). But some rescues aren't physical ones. I liked how the heroine was very independent-minded and intelligent. If you enjoy short Regency fiction where the heroine is just a little off the norm, you will most likely enjoy this book.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Wonderful Collection of Sweet Clean Christmas Stories
I really enjoyed each story in this collection by multi authors. Each story was totally unique and the best part was they were all clean stories so I didn't have to cringe or stop reading.
The Ultimate Escape, by Susana Ellis - This is a time travel story where two people that are betrothed go into the future separately. Julia is running away before the wedding because she doesn't believe Oliver loves her. Oliver finds a way to chase her through time because he is determined to fight for their relationship.
Under the Mistletoe, by Sherry Ewing - This is a second chance story about Margaret Templeton and the man she turned down when he proposed. Being the hostess for Captain Morledge’s Christmas House party was set up by her father as he wants her to accept the Captain's proposal. Margaret never expected to see her long time friend again after refusing to marry him years before. Now he is determined to stop her from marrying Captain Morledge because he believes there is something sinister in his background. Can he get her to finally say yes to his proposal?
Gingerbread Bride, by Jude Knight - Mary Pritchard is used to being on her father's ship and being in London with her aunt is not where she wants to stay. Leaving London to go stay with another aunt seems like a good idea until she gets into a dangerous situation. Her rescuer from her childhood manages to find her and save her again and again in this sweet Christmas story.
A Dangerous Nativity, by Caroline Warfield - This Christmas story involves the Earl of Chadbourn as he tries to repair the many problems with the estate of his his brother-in-law after his untimely death.. His young nephew and his sister desperately need him and the mess he's got to clean up is a heavy burden until he meets the family living next door. This story has some humorous situations involving a live nativity using animals and the antics of the young boys living next door. There's also something of a mystery of the heritage of the neighbors who bear the same name as his brother-in-law.
There is also two other short stories that were just as sweet. This was a great collection of stories.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Ultimate Escape by Susanna Ellis Lady Julia Pendleton loved one man for most of her life only to have him marry her best friend. Now that he's a widow he's come to her and asked her to be his wife. Thrilled but hurt from their betrayal and doubtful of his love she is having second thoughts. Taking a cue from her mother she searches for the gypsy who can show her another time and place so she can gather her thoughts and decide what she wants. But is she prepared for what she discovers? Discovering his bride-to-be is missing on the eve of their wedding, Oliver Stanton comes to a realization. Torn between his love for Julia and how much he believed what he is told as to where Julia has gone he makes the decision to follow. This journey brings to light things about each of their pasts that the other never knew and uncovers how they were both betrayed. Will this strange new world bring them together or keep them apart? A wonderfully sweet time travel story from the talented Susana Ellis. Looking forward to the next installment in the Lady P Chronicles to see who travels ahead (or behind) in time.
Under the Mistletoe by Sherry Ewing Much to her father’s chagrin, Margaret Templeton is happy being a bluestocking spinster. Since, the only man she, a clergyman’s daughter, has ever loved is beyond her reach. With her father determined to see her settled and happy before he dies he agrees to Captain Morledge’s innocent request to have Margaret help him host his annual ball. Loving her father so, Margaret agrees to see if anything can develop between her and the Captain. What she doesn’t count on is being in close proximity to the love of her life. Viscount Frederick Beacham has spent years trying to forget one woman – the woman he loves beyond reason, the woman who refused his marriage proposal. A feat he thought he had finally accomplished. Until the mere mention of her name and that she was in London turned his heart upside-down. Seeking her out he finds that years will never erase his love for her nor will anyone ever replace her. Learning her reason for being in London, Frederick vows to, at the very least, protect her from harm and at the most convince her that she belongs with him. Margaret tries to go about her hosting duties normally but soon gathers that all is not right in the Captain’s household. Top those feelings with seeing Frederick at every turn has Margaret in a turmoil. One that may put her life in jeopardy. Will Frederick uncover the Captain’s true motives before it is too late or will he lose Margaret forever? Sherry Ewing writes a delightful tale full of suspense. It constantly had this reader trying to figure out what sinister deed the Captain had done, what he would do when thwarted, and how all this would affect Margaret’s love for Frederick.
Gingerbread Bride by Jude Knight Life on a ship is all Mary Pritchard has ever known. Truthfully where she would much rather be; definitely not traipsing across a field running away from London and her horrid aunt and cousin. No, she wasn’t running “away”, she was running “to” her paternal aunts who lived in the country – a place she feels she will fit in. Since the age of fourteen, Rick Redepenning (now Lieutenant Rick Redepenning) seemed to always be rescuing the little sprite that was his Captain’s daughter. At least he did until orders took him elsewhere. Now years later, recovering from an injury, Rick is the one running away; away from friends embarrassed by his injury and a sister who smothers him with care. His travels bring him upon the little sprite, who isn’t so little anymore, traipsing across a field with valise in hand and spots danger approaching. Seems things never change. Surprised to see the man of her childhood infatuation come to her rescue yet again Mary tries to hide her irritation and reluctantly agrees to let him deliver her to her aunt’s; a delivery in which neither imagined the outcome. A well written tale by Jude Knight that had this reader feeling right in the middle of the adventure – from Mary and Rick’s first meeting, the whirlwind that is Aunt Dorothy to the two conniving cousins – this reader felt it all.
A Dangerous Nativity by Caroline Warfield William Landrum, Earl of Chadbourne, wants many things…to be back at his own estate, his sister back to her bubbly self, his nephew to not be so afraid of everything and enjoy being a boy, and most of all to make sure his deceased brother-in-law is roasting in hell. Charged as his nephew’s guardian it’s his responsibility to oversee a poor excuse of an estate and turning that estate around weighs heavily on him. Until one fateful ride and a runaway goat gives him hope for the future. Catherine Wheatly loves her home, her land, her father, and her brothers. Despite the animosity with the family who owns the estate on which their home is located, Catherine is happy and content. Until one handsome man arrives with a horse and her runaway goat trailing behind to turn her world upside down. Laughter – a goat, piglets, and boys full of life; despair – a woman dependent on drugs to survive, a boy afraid of his own shadow, a family feud, and a horrible secret; Caroline Warfield’s delightful tale has it all. Add the simple wisdom of children and you have a splendid story.
What a fabulous set of stories just in time for the holidays! And the bonus stories are the cherries on top!
THE ULTIMATE ESCAPE by Susana Ellis ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An excitingly different look at time-travel. The main difference is that it is a deliberate choice not happenstance. To be able to go forward in time at will and return at will is amazing. I loved the characters Julia and Oliver. It was wonderful to experience their wonder of the 21st century. A very good story. UNDER THE MISTLETOE by Sherry Ewing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Always trust your instincts or as they say trust your gut. Margaret's father a vicar is impressed with a captain. He is trying to encourage a match for Margaret. As She spends time with the Captain, she gets the feeling not all is well. If not for her childhood friend Fredrick she may not have gotten out alive from the captain’s home. An exciting story of second chances between Margaret and Freddie. GINGERBREAD BRIDE by Jude Knight ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Crummy relatives impose on our heroine's life. She roams from relative to relative looking for love and acceptance. When he was with her all along the way. Our hero rescues our heroine time after time. A maggot of a cousin wants to trap her into marrying him because he needs her money. Her cousin disdains her and puts the moves on her man. Except she doubts he will ever be her man. He tries to talk to her but she keeps avoiding him. I loved the way the story ended. A lovely romance. DANGEROUS NATIVITY by Caroline Warfield ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An adorable romance. After the death of Will's sister's husband, he became guardian to his 10-year-old nephew. His sister was hooked on laudanum and lost her joy of living. His nephew feared everything. Will began to realize that his brother-in-law was an abusive, miserable scrooge of a man. When he met Catherine, he was captivated by her beauty, her knowledge of running one of the most successful farms in the area. She had two younger brothers a year or two older than his nephew. But something was wrong. There were secrets kept and Will meant to find them out. A great story full of suspense and intrigue.
The icing on the cake was the best. The bonus stories at the end were fun to read and they were delightful. I highly recommend this box set.

The Ultimate Escape, by Susana Ellis On the eve of her wedding, Julia needs to take a moment to consider what she is doing, and where better than 200 years in the future? Oliver finds a way to chase her through time. A delightful novella , I loved how the Londoners of 2015 didn't raise an eyebrow at seeing a couple in Regency dress
Under the Mistletoe, by Sherry Ewing Margaret Templeton will settle for Captain Morledge’s hand in marriage, until she sees the man she once loved at her second-best bridegroom’s Christmas party. I devoured this lovely novella of a second chance romance & a mystery of what is happening on the third floor!
Gingerbread Bride, by Jude Knight Travelling with her father’s fleet has not prepared Mary Pritchard for London nor her aunt who wants Mary to marry her son. 🗝️🗝️ONE THRILLING ANTHOLOGY🗝️🗝️ Hatching hellions! This extremely talented and immensely impressive dynamic group of authors works their magic with this incredibly tantalizing anthology, delivering some fierce facts, clever actions and cunning tactics, grabbing your attention from the first sentence, till the very last word, catapulting this bundle to a whole new level. Each individual story is full of thrills, suspense and intrigue with all the intensity and fervor, highlighting the intriguing encounters and heated situations, every one different and unique, with all the vivacity and fervor, testing our characters in ways they could have never imagined, blasting this baby to life brilliantly. Serendipity and mayhem descend in a flurry of mischief and harsh lessons, showcasing the crushed perimeters and broken barriers, limitations are explored and expanded, exposing the impish quirks and defying bents, bursting this baby to life brilliantly. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back, baring incredibly deep emotions and undeniable affections, connecting them to one another beautifully. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits adding depth and diversity, transforming into genuine charismatic personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and such vivid descriptions that feel as though you were transported to the middle of ground zero with them. Fantastic job guys, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
What a delightful collection of holiday tales. Each one unique and a pleasure to read. Although not all are specifically Christmas stories, the season swirls its magic in all. I have read very little of Susana Ellis, but I always enjoy a bit of time travel. Her offering, The Ultimate Escape, is not the usual Regency fare, a great start to this anthology. Sherry Ewing's Under the Mistletoe is pure Christmas enchantment. Who wouldn't want to be given a second chance to win the League ve of your life? I did read Jude Knight's Gingerbread Bride before, but definitely worth a reread. The heroine, Mary is an independent woman who tries to make the best of what life hands her. Rick Redepenning is one of my favorite heros. This was the first of the Golden Redepennings that I read and couldn't wait to read more of this intriguing family. Please don't stop with this tale, you will not regret it. I have had Caroline Warfield's A Dangerous Nativity in my TBR pile for a while. I am sorry that I did not read it sooner. What a wonderful storyline! I really need to the Children of the Empire series to see how these ragtag, mischievous but darling boys turn out. Rounding out this collection are two short bonus stories, one by Jude Knight, the other penned by Caroline Warfield. They are a truly great finish to this compilation of stories. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
All of the stories in this collection had female heroines who were intelligent and skilled in ways that weren't common during Regency times and earned their titles as bluestockings. There is suspense with evil characters and misunderstandings and miscommunications between the heroes and heroines. The Ultimate Escape had paranormal time travel elements and societal difference as the hero is a wealthy banker and the heroine is the daughter of an Earl. They have been friends since childhood, but he married her friend and she wonders if he's just settling for her because she is convenient. Under the Mistletoe also had class differences with a vicar's daughter who is asked to play hostess for her new suitor and her old suitor a viscount who has always loved her and won't letter her settle for a man for whom rumors surround about how he treated his previous wife. In Gingerbread Bride, Mary is Lieutenant Rick's admiral's daughter and he has feelings for her, but she is being courted by titled suitors and he doesn't think he is worthy. In Dangerous Nativity, Will is at his sister and nephew's estate to undo the wrongs and harm his deceased brother-in-law caused when he comes across Catherine. Secrets and scandals are revealed as he works to convince her she is worth of his love. The last two bonus stories are also available to newsletter subscribers.
A range of regency-meets-modern life, secrets in the attic, running and rescuing, and an animal nativity fill these four excellent seasonal short stories.
The Ultimate Escape - unconventional, courageous Julia and Oliver visit the future to work out their relationship in a fun timeslip, second chance romance. 4*
Under the mistletoe - will persistent, loyal Freddie and modest, dutiful Margaret have a second chance, when the Colonel holds his house party to coerce her into marriage? 4*
Gingerbread Bride - I loved this one - there was something about indomitable, independent Mary and her devoted Rick who had spent his life rescuing her from her adventures that really tugged at my heart strings. 5*
A Dangerous Nativity - I think I enjoyed this story the most - largely due to Catherine's irrepressible brothers and their animal nativity. Around this, the romance between Will, capable and determined to re-invigorate a better life for his sister and nephew, and the adorable, organised Catherine was a joy to read. 5*
I was aware of the Bluestocking Belles, but hadn't read any of their works before, and am already hunting down more to read. The only proviso I would have is that a content warning might be advisable, as two of the stories refer to domestic abuse, past and present.

Six lovely stories for your holiday reading. Would you believe that not one but three out of four of the authors placed their book on Booksprout’s so a big shout out to those authors. This is a wonderful collection the Bluestocking Belles authors always write such beautiful stories plus they are so well-written and flow so well too. We have a time travel romance, maybe I am marrying the wrong person, a lady who does some things that land her in trouble but of course there is a knight there to save our lady, and finally can the Earl of Chadbourn find love. These are the main stories but that is not all because there are two bonus tales for the reader pleasure and they were a grand read too. If you are looking for some good stories to read during the holidays then I hope you check this book out. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

WOW… Great Collection!!! Holiday Escapes, A Bluestocking Belles Collection is by some of my very favorite authors. I have read only Under the Mistletoe by Sherry Ewing. The mystery was so captivating that it kept me on the edge of my seat and oh how I love a good mystery. The characters were wonderful and the details very vivid. I can’t wait to read the the other author’s stories. Under the Mistletoe has wanting to marry, a father that keeps setting up possible grooms, a diary, a love that a parent would not approve of marriage, l long lost love, a denied proposal, evil, hosting a house party, abuse, neglect, a big scheme and of course love. I highly recommend you read this book… as I said it will keep you on the edge of your seat.

This is a delightful set of four novellas plus 2 short stories from the Bluestocking Belles. The characters are charming and the adventures are fun and humorous. The ladies, especially are sharp and quick-witted, although that sometimes gets them in trouble... There is a little sadness and suspense in some of the stories, but mostly there is sweet warmth and connection. One of my favorite things about these stories is they are *clean* without any on-page sexual relations. I would not be at all concerned about sharing these stories with younger or sensitive readers. The stories have a nice variety, and the perfect sense of nostalgia for this time of year.

What an absolutely lovely collection! Each story in this set is unique and is well-written with an entertaining and interesting storyline that will keep you engaged all the way through. I love stories about blue stockings in the Regency era. Society looks down upon them, but they are such intelligent, strong-willed individuals and skilled in so many different ways - Ladies who are definitely ahead of their times. These stories are filled with suspense, drama, and mystery, and will provide you with hours of Regency fun. The bonus stories at the end are nice finish to the set. A great collection to add your library- I highly recommend!

I've never read any books by any of the Bluestocking Belles, didn't know there was such a group, but I enjoy an occasional historical romance so I thought I would give this book a try. Each book features a strong independent women trying to make her way in a man's world during the Regency Era. The men who love these women are trying to negotiate their way as much as they candor the women they love. They are short, sweet, fun reads with the holiday spirit on full display. I would definitely read more from these 4 authors.

I read Gingerbread Bride by Jude Knight I don't usually care for Novellas ( I hate for them to end ) but Jude Knight is a masterful storyteller and there's no valet is no exception. Her characters are delightful and genuine. In this story Mary is intelligent and strong, our hero Rick is sweet and kind. He's spent a lifetime rescuing Mary from one folly after the other. When they grew older duty called him away but fate put Mary in his path once more. This is such a sweet love story with lots of sweet humor and beautifully written. Thank you so much Jude for such a heartwarming, charming story.
Thank you Jude for always writing such a delightful tales.

This is the first book I read from this author and let me tell you that I loved it! Such a good book with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. The ending of this book.. come on! I just didn´t expect it! Can´t wait to read other books from this great writer! Amazing job! a must-read!. A fantastic book that has it all! I happily endorse this story to any and all who are looking for a romance enjoyable read and a completely different experience than anyone could imagine on their own. Great book!
The first two short stories could be described as "second chance" stories. The Gingerbread Bride is a friend to lovers sort of story. I had read "A Dangerous Nativity" twice before and it is one of my favorite stories; why else would I re-read it. Each of these well-written stories are short enough to be read in one go in an evening. The two bonus short stories are yet shorter. All works are examples of good storytelling to submerge in and forget the outside world.
