Sequel to the award-winning book, The Rabbit Princess: The Path.

"It doesn’t take strength to wake up; it takes courage to wake up. It takes strength to live."

After the war, Annie, Pika and Naso carry on their pilgrimage to find the unicorn, Qilin, but they are pulled into a battle at a human village, compelling them to reflect on their own journeys—past and future—and forcing them to make difficult choices. Years later, a new force has arisen to overthrow the kingdom. Naso must find the others to help her and her granddaughter, Osani, fight to keep the kingdom they so love from falling apart. Along the way, they learn that no matter where their journeys lead them, the ties that bind their hearts—love, integrity and loyalty—will always bring them back together.

Just doesn't seem to know where it's going, very confusing timeline, characters introduced with no introduction, no idea who they are aiming for but it doesn't really sit anywhere. Could be so good, but sadly after reading the first two books I shan't be going any further.

I LOVE this series. This story seems to slip seamlessly between a first person to third person telling. I love the action, I love the wisdom, I love that two seemingly different worlds are intricately tied together. The book continues on from the previous book being a story in the past, and continues explaining what happened to the characters and their own journeys they went on, and brings us completely to the present, where we discover that there are very important journeys occurring as well. Now being brought into the present we can see things are much more complex and interrelated than we may have thought before.

Even though she is old enough to read it on her own, this is a book my daughter and I read together. I love that we get to share this. I am so excited there will be more books.

Hard to read - I liked the story in the first book so bought this one too and I struggled to finish it . It has really complex story ( which requires you remembering all characters and their connections from part 1 ), it is confusing who is who and on whose side they are/ were ( the short list of the characters at the beginning of the book does not help too much). The conversation between characters are very philosophical - I am not sure how well those could be understood by the younger audience ( I believe the book meant to be aimed to that audience). I have picked the book expecting interesting original story,( box ticked) and easy reading ( which it was not at all..) so 2-3 stars rating
