This book might have been the fastest to DNF ever at 14% or so but I put the book down and came back to it. I still don't know if I will finish it because, let's face it, all the men are assholes in this book, especially towards women. I can get it's a typical women are only good for relieving their stress or cooking and cleaning with bikers but it's honestly just so fucken bad in this book. And the fact that Steel was going to fuck her out of his system by sleeping with any ol' piece of ass left a bad taste in my mouth. Yes, the author saved it by magically having him get a text the moment he was in a room making out with some chick but it doesn't stop that those thoughts were there, that the action was there. what's worse is that when he does sleep with Sienna, he tells her she only belongs to him while she's in town (super insulting btw since she doesn't sleep around or anything like that and she lets him know it too), but when she asks if he's only hers, he basically doesn't answer her, just going on about how she's jealous or whatever. It's clear at this point (despite the way the author keeps writing stupid things like him wanting her to wear his colors and what not in his inner monologuing) that she's just a means to get off, and I'm so tired of reading fmc that are just so dick dum that they let themselves be used like this.
So yeah, I am not sure how long it will take me to finish this book (currently at 43%) or if I will at this point because I'm not big on all this misogynist bs archaic way of thinking. Nor do I like my mmcs to fuck anything that walks, and again, while yes I get it's a biker book and they call their women bitches you'd at least think they have some respect for them other than just seeing them as walking vaginas.
I figure a 2 star is too low as the writing itself isn't bad but I am definitely not sure I'm going to be continuing with the book, let alone the series. However.... after reading a bit more of the book, Steel's inner thoughts about Sienna really get to me, and the fact that it's clearly only about fucking her also gets to me. I really can't see him caring about her, or falling in love with her for that matter and that just takes me out of the romance aspect of this book in general. Even in books like "The Pucking Wrong Number" at least have an mmc who basically holds the fmc on a pedestal and no other compares to them, but nope, not Steel. He was even bitching at himself when he was working on a car that he was missing whatever bitch was in his shop because his prospect wasn't strong enough to losen whatever he was working on under the car... and this was after he already spent all night fucking Sienna... I think I'm changing my rating to a 2 instead.
Probably the worst thing about the book is that the author has the background characters all talking him up. I'm sorry but it doesn't make up for what how he thinks, you know? Sure he loves dogs but that doesn't mean anything either. The author seems to be trying to tell us readers that despite how he actually is, that he's a great guy, desperately screaming "He might be a man whore and thinks that's all women are good for but look! he loves dogs and he helps with a rescue! He has a dog he saved! Isn't he just the greatest?"
Honestly the more I read of this book, the more I dislike Steel and pretty much all of the mc guys. The whole party at the club/church thing pissed me off because of a few reasons, the main two being how he allowed some hoe to throw herself at him while Sienna watched, then he takes her upstairs so she can't speak her mind in front of the others (because women should know their place abd be grateful for the time of day they're given 🤢) - that same room where he's had multiple women in for a fuck, treating Sienna like just another hoe. At least he's not as bad as Reign (book of the same name by Jessica Gadziala), who not only slept with another woman after meeting the fmc but also made the fmc change those same sheets in his whore room before fucking her there.... So yeah, definitely not going to be reading more of these books by this author because once again don't think these misogynistic assholes are capable of it... and the fact that Sienna still stayed is stupid. She needs to have more respect for herself but clearly all fmcs have dick brain in these books.
The whole part with her ex at the end was disappointing. There was a lot of the same lines used, and the writing seems to be both rushed and the quality took a dip, like the author remembered last minute to tie this part of the story up but had a max word count or something. In the end I was just disappointed with the whole thing and not once did I feel like Steel ever grew as a character, and Sienna's character seems to take a dive in the wrong direction. Like I said, the quality of writing took a dip in the last bit (around the last 25% of the book or so), basically through the whole ex showing up part and if I'm being completely honest there were way too many similarities between her ex and Steel. And I know a lot of the stuff he said was to throw off the ex but there is a lot of truth in his words because of his way of thinking. It's not all fake and just to let his guard down. It was honestly all disappointing at that point, between how he reacted to Sienna leaving him, how he treated her in general (and yes, I get he was hurt and mad but he should've seen the change in her, period, and not been all too keen to believe her), and when she told him she loved him it was like there was no reaction at all, nor do I recall him saying it back. He also pushed her away when she needed comfort. I just don't buy him caring about her more than seeing her as a steady piece of ass that he staked his claim on.
