The Midnight Man (The Wiccan Chronicles Book 2) by D. A. Barney is a book about vampires, werewolves, demons, and malafecs. Usually, I don't like fantasy fiction but this one was a happy surprise. In fact, I didn't feel like that I haven't read Book 1 because Book 2, as a standalone, works perfectly fine.

The Midnight Man follows multiple characters on their respective journeys to find their light. While Dani and Lucien live after their mother, Camille's tragic death, Kaitlin and Jean have their own battles to fight. Amidst this, the readers experience the right blend of love, adventure, paralysing fear, magic, and chills. The nail-biting sequences and intricate emotions spread throughout the story of Lycans, Witches, and Warlocks keeps one hooked.

I truly appreciate how the book entertained me despite being a part of a series. It goes on to say that the author had adeptly woven this tale that oscillates back and forth between years and people to serve us a hooking tale. Moreover, the writing is as fun and engrossing as it could be with no beating around the bush! Did I mention that the author has displayed commendable imagination while developing the narrative?

The subtle humour and poignant emotions together made for an engrossing plotline. Do check out the book on Amazon and if the premise sounds good, go ahead with this :D

"It is alright to feel something other than remorse. It does not take away from the events that have passed, nor does it belittle the ones we mourn. They are your feelings. Embrace them. To ignore them is to be dishonest, both to you and the ones you love."
Thank you, author, for providing me with an ebook in return for my honest feedback.
Exactly a year ago, I finished reading The Bewitching of Camille and I was itching to read the second book. I was super disheartened by the fact that it is still a work in progress but at the same time, anticipation to read and know what happens next slowly started building up. Considering I was never a fan of the genre and didn't bother to explore it or give it a try properly, that says something about the book. This occult-based supernatural speculative fiction just made me fall in love with the genre and a need to explore this part of the genre grew inside me. So when Barney pinged me about The Midnight Man, I did not even take a second to consider it and instantly agreed to read & review this outstanding indie series.

So bubbling with anticipation and to have an immersive experience, I went back to reread The Bewitching of Camille and boy, do I love it even more now that I am very well acquainted with the world it is set in and the genre! It remains to be that one book that my year-old self and I will never be able to justify it with our words. Obviously, that means I will be starting the book with expectation and anticipation to know what happens but I also entered the book with confidence that Barney will not disappoint.
And he did not.

Starting right where the previous instalment was left off at, The Midnight Man takes you on a nerve-wracking journey, hooking you instantly with its fast-paced narrative. Set in New Orleans, mostly, this follows through the thrilling drama with the plot—driven with emotions, endurance, power, making it a perfect gripping sequel to The Bewitching of Camille. Considering that it ended with a cliffhanger and a craving to consume similar works, this title ends with a bigger one. Each character is focused in a way that the reader understands their actions and words however little their role may be and that goes on to tell how the main characters are portrayed. And the scene transitions in a way that steams up the suspense and anticipation of what would happen next.
As a story of pure excellence, this title also proves to be even better of work, compared to its predecessor at so many instances, but both hail to stand out in the end with each page making you inch closer towards the edges of your seat.

Barney knows how to weave an outstanding story and is a 'bewitching' storyteller. With The Midnight Man, he proves why he is one of the brilliant authors in the genre that one can count on to deliver some badass books. Considering this serious is based on Salem-Witch trials and focuses on the patriarchal narrative of it, this series inches towards breaking down the systematic discrimination and is filled with metaphors that reflect our world and the ideals that drove it to the place it stands at, today. And it all comes down to the brilliance this story is told in. I will never not read any works by Barney, and I am even more sure of that!

If you don't find me obsessing over vampires, witches and werewolves (thanks again, Barney), you will find me recommending this series. And if you take my recommendation and read it and do not enjoy it as much as I did, I'm sorry but I cannot be friends with your Twilight-loving person. This is truly one of the best works of the genre and it may be graphic at action-sequences, it is neither cringey nor inappropriate. A true masterpiece!

Couldn't kept myself away from keep going with this series, recently i walk through Book I "The Bewitching of Camille" & walk in to next sequel is definitely a worthy step.

Book I & now Book II both are miraculous escape from boring days. My experience with this one is gorgeous. I am super excited to see the next part.

D.A. Barney seemed to have a prodigious amount of skills to write this series.

He tempted reader's by giving it a sharp edges and knit story with thunderstruck & unexpected turn of events.

It added up a new value and genre of reading for many people. Everything written in this book and it's former well acknowledges all kinds of age groups.

Being balanced in every aspect, you can read it along with your children's, or maybe you can make it your travelling novel to have. My case is a little different as I love to read books containing this much thrill only at night time.

Book will let you to the beginning of the end. I am pleased to read it with full energy because the story is as fascinating as the former one.

It's packed with more action than before and deep down felt like it's upgraded to a great extent. More drama than before and clueless to full of clues, it will engage with you briefly.

Beginning of this part is quite emotional and interactive. Camille showed her son "Lucien" she is not any more and how he has to take care of his sister "Dani" & also added unfolds why she had to disguise him about her sister's gender.

Lucien felt himself slip into shock but he considered her dead mother's story. Dani on the other hand has to fight this battle of justice without her mother.

This review with my own opinion and thought about this series could set a decent understanding of fiction and i hope this will bring an exciting opportunity to grab copies of the Wiccan chronicles.

No doubt story is pure imaginations of an avid writer. Text used is a blend of English and words of Power fiction.

It's a book II of The Wiccan trilogy, "The Night Of The Lycan" is the final book coming fall 2021.

🌟“The Midnight Man" is the Book II of The Wiccan Chronicles series by D.A. Barney. Well I have not read the first one yet, but now i will definitely look for it.

🌟The Midnight Man is an extremely exciting and magical story with all the elements that makes a good story. The Wiccan Chronicles tells the tragic story of two damaged souls - one charging carelessly toward her foretold future, with the other spinning blindly in his not so pristine past. Their only chance is to save each other, by shining a light into the darkness of “The Midnight Man”.

🌟The storyline is quite attractive and interesting. I found it really enthralling and engaging. As i read the blurb which describes the storyline, it immediately caught my interest and I picked it up without thinking twice and I really want to say, this book is more wonderful than my imagination. Its an uncommon story with unexpected twists and turns. I felt this author has an excellent imagination skills with creativity and talent as he included the drama, thrills, chills, and supernatural events- all in one story that take place in a unique and imaginative way that kept me fascinated till the end. The author mentioned intense action scenes which are just amazing. The characters are well developed and it is interesting to watch them grow. The cover could have been much better but the title is really good.

🌟It is a well written book which is just perfect to read. I really liked this work done by the author, his imagination skills and the talent of writing a story which can easily attract the readers.

I literally just finished this book and I'm at a loss of words to describe it.
Was it brilliant? Yes!
Was it fantastic? Yes!
Was it worth the wait? Yes, yes, yes!!
For me, this book shines, and to those you who loved it, I imagine you are a bit like me. You found yourself immersed in an enticing world of darkness and magic. The characters came so alive for me that they jumped off the pages. I felt as though l was there in the story with them as opposed to merely following along in their journey.

The Midnight Man changed the way I look at
fantasy novels. I am a huge fan now. I haven't read the first book yet but now I am going to read that too. It is truly a fantastic series.
I think we all read books for some type of enjoyment. What evokes that enjoyment varies from reader to reader, but I still find excitement within these pages. To me, that is the mark of a fantastic book.

I felt this author has an excellent sense for magical and supernatural events. Not only was it full of action, adventure, and sprinkled with so many emotions but D.A. Barney also added some other great elements to the book relating to magic and fantasy. I loved the character development of every character and
also the great plot twists in the story line. Even though guessed a few of the twists ahead of time, Barney's writing still sucked me into devouring this book.

Overall, it was really a fantastic read and I enjoyed it till the end. I loved how the suspense is maintained throughout. I liked the writing style of the author. The pace, flow, excitement, suspense, everything is balanced.

“I love you, but I won’t apologize for what I did, so if you can’t truly forgive me, then I have to leave, because I can’t stay here and see the resentment in your eyes every time you look at me.”

The Midnight Man is the second book in the Wiccan Chronicles, a supernatural fantasy series by D.A. Barney.
The author takes a huge leap from the first book in terms of his storytelling skills. As much as I loved the first book, I fell in love with this one even more. All the action and drama right from the very beginning hooks you till the very end of the book.
This book was written so it can act as a standalone from its predecessor, however I would highly recommend reading the first book, The Bewitching of Camille first and then Midnight Man because that would provide a lot of clarity on certain events and characters that might not make sense.
Like before, the author makes you grow an attachment to the characters by writing about them in such a way that you feel they're real, and their emotions are real. If you do not cry when you read certain parts of this book, you don't have a heart, period!
The writing style of the author makes it an engaging read, and he does not drag you on with unnecessary BS but sticks to the point and says what he had to say without the unnecessary fillers.
But the plot will forever be my favourite because of delicately and intricately he has put everything into place so when the dominos fall, they hit the target right where he wants it and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
We do have a few instances where I felt his writing did not meet the tone and standard that he'd set throughout the book, but overall, I loved this book and would definitely recommend it especially if you're a fan of witches, vampires and everything fantastically spooky and supernatural.

“A prophecy does not set one’s destiny.”

The Midnight Man is the second book in the Wiccan Chronicle series by D.A. Barney. I reviewed the first, The Bewitching of Camille, way way way back and thoroughly enjoyed it. This book did great justice to the first.

A quick recap of the world Barney creates: Vampires, Lycans, Warlocks, Witches and more exist as we are taken through the streets of New Orleans, Haiti, and other magical environments. Witches are set to be destroyed by the age of 21 by the Council of Warlocks for fear that they will grow too powerful. Love can maybe find a way to stop these corrupted political forces from going too far. I don’t want to give away anything more because you may not read the first book in that case and therefore not read the second, but the picture these books bring is very voodoo, New Orleans, enchanting witchcraft and it’s a treat.

This book in particular made me LAUGH in a great way. The dry sarcasm was hilarious and I felt the characters were way more developed and their personalities really shine through compared to the last book. I actually caught myself chuckling aloud a few times. Negatives are that I felt some of the sentences and scenes were a bit cringe awkward but I’m also hyper sensitive to that and those instances didn’t last long. I also wish there was a character list in the beginning of this book to remind me who everyone is and recap the last book because it had been soooo long since I read the first.

Overall, I love the message and characters. This novel is a fun fantasy adventure that I feel can fit YA and adult. If you’re looking for something in that category, I suggest checking this out.

Totally in love the little girl Dani!! Such a strong character at such young age. It can't get any moreover amusing that this. Kudos to the author for portraying a four year old into a supernatural fictional thriller. Author takes us on a wild roller-coaster ride through the jungles of his whimsically inventive fantasies from whence this masterpiece was birthed!
" When the world gets too big, make it small"
Seeing this one ends on with a heart stopper ending just as its first part, I am already itching to get my hot little hands on the next rendition asap!
Honestly, this fantastic story took me by surprise. I am a quick reader. I breeze through novels and cannot wait to start a new one. However, with this one, I wanted to savor every word and lose myself in the pages.
So awaiting the next part, we sign off!

Here’s a perfect addictive, frenzy read recipe. Rapidly gobble up the first book of this trilogy series, The Bewitching of Camille, then trust me, with the accelerated speed you’ll devour the second book, The Midnight Man. The Midnight Man, surprisingly ignites depth, poignancy, and gut-wrenching emotions for Lycans, Witches, and Warlocks. I unexpectedly cared so much for all of these poor tortured souls. And, twice my heart broke when the author killed two characters off. The witty and at times, the laugh-out-loud narrative that D.A. Barney wields, commands investment in this intricate, fantastical, Wiccan world…super wishing I could zipline right into book three…due fall of 2021.

I discovered my 'voice' right around chapter 31 in Camille and spent the next 20 chapters becoming acquainted with it. Midnight Man is the result of our union.
