SO GOOD!! This was such a great Beauty and the Beast retelling. I’ll admit it wasn’t quite as smutty as I was expecting, but the sex was still fire. I’m gonna need Jack Harbon to write more fairytale retellings please!

OKAY, this was such a great beauty and the beast retelling!!
I love how unique the author made this story, but also added little elements here and there from the original tale!

This is a Beauty and the Beast retelling where the Beast stays a beast. That premise will either immediately hook you or it won't. I was in the “need it now” camp when the author announced it on Twitter and I’m thrilled to say this was a magnificent monster romance.
The Beast was so beastly in every way and I absolutely wanted him. I suspect my childhood crush on the Fox in Robin Hood plays a part in this, along with the Disney version of BATB. There’s just something compelling about literal anim ...more

I deeply enjoyed this. Jack instantly caught my attention because somehow I just couldn't stop reading it. Isla and Beast were so layered and interesting since the beginning, it was nice to see them piece by piece with every chapter that I read.
As soon as Jack said His Beauty was a Beauty and the Beast retelling with no "turning himself into a human at the end" kinda romance, I was LETS GOOOOO. Yup, monster romance right here. Beast is... a beast. I think I screamed "OMG!!!" so much while I was ...more

4 1/2 STARS Horny yet sweet BaTB and he never returns to a human form? Yes, please.

Leigh convinced me to read this as a newly minted member of the Horns and Claws Club and it did not disappoint. Give me more BatB retellings in which the Beast is actually beastly and doesn’t turn into some boring hornless man at the end!
Seriously though, this isn’t just worth checking out for the horny bedroom scenes (haha don’t mind me I’m obsessed this morning) but also for the stellar handling of Isla’s character development. The way she processes her situation is complex and satisfying - t ...more

4 “more sweet than spicy” stars
Ok confession I expected to pick this up and have it be spicy. I mean come on, a beauty and the beast retelling but the beast stays in his beast form when they get their freak on? We’ve all thought it. We have. Dont you dare deny it.
But this was surprisingly sweet. Like honey sweet. I needed more spice. And this author definitely is a good writer, I was captured into the story from the start. I wish this was just more porn and less plot. Also it was so quick and ...more

I had a good time reading this. I am a total sucker for beauty and the beast trope/retellings set ups. This delivered in a delightful way also he stays a beast so I just love that even more.

This was such a unique Beauty and The Beast retelling as the beast stays a beast rather than turning human. I also loved that Jack Harbon actually took inspiration from Katee Robert to write this book!

This was an experience, for sure.
It wasn't at all what I expected going into it and not nearly as steamy as I had hoped.
Did I have some... concerns about the logistics of The Beast's physic? Oh, yeah.
Did I also wish there was a lot more smut? Absolutely.
But was it a fun, quick, read? 100%, and I'll absolu ...more

I am such a sucker for Beauty and the Beast retellings and when I saw that Jack Harbon wrote one, a novella no less, I knew I had to read it for Smutathon.
It did not disappoint.
This book stood apart from all the other retellings I've read. It was short and steamy and graphic and even brutal sometimes, and I loved every second of it.
Did I mention that The Beast was never a human in this book? Nope. He was full beast the entire time. We love a good taboo Beauty and the Beast retelling that somehow ...more

Oh. This was a fun and fast-paced read that took some dark and thrilling turns. Isla is headstrong and plucky. Beast is...a beast. This certainly isn’t a children’s fairytale but it has all the nods to the classic so you still feel like you’re reading a tale as old as time but it’s got a much quicker beat and definitely GOES THERE. If you’ve always wished the beast would be a true beast and make the beast with two backs with his beauty, you will not be disappointed. I sure wasn’t!

If you're fond of the 'tale as old as time', and don't mind when an author takes a bit of creative license you'll enjoy this unique, though short, but erotic rendition of the fairy tale classic.

This is a fun take on the Beauty and the Beast story we’ve all heard a million times. Yes, Isla goes to rescue her father from the evil Beast and has to stay there in his stead so he can go home. And yes, Isla talks to the servants and is reluctant to interact with the Beast aka Lowen.
However, this version is STEAMY. And Lowen stays a beast the entire time. Don’t ask me how Harbon pulls this off, because I have no idea even though I read the whole thing. Also? Isla is ready to defend what she ha ...more

ok ok i'm sorry this was just... not my thing. i generally don't do super well with novellas because i want more relationship development so there's one "it's not you, it's me" moment, but this also veered...juuuuuust a little too close to bestiality for me i'm sorry i'm just not into smut that includes ponderings about the anatomical location of a not-quite-man's testicles

His Beauty by Jack Harbon was a terrific way to kick off my 2021 reading and reading challenges. Jack was kind enough to grant me an advanced copy of his book in exchange for an honest review. I'd read and enjoyed a couple of Jack's previous books, which are m/m contemporary romances. His Beauty, however, is an erotic m/f retelling of a Disneyfied Beauty and the Beast, wherein there is plenty of action of both the sexy and violent kinds (but separate--no violent sexy times). While I feel sad tha

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
His Beauty is a very “out of left field” reading choice for me. I love the original Beauty and the Beast tale and the Disney version, but have frequently despaired at a lot of the non-magical attempts to retell it, as they usually are, as Jack Harbon calls it in the acknowledgments for this story, about “some handsome white guy with a scar on his face and a bad attitude,” which I found the antithesis of w ...more

Another beauty and the beast retelling with a sprinkle of smuts.
For a retelling, this one doesn’t offer much changes. The author keeps the story simple and stay with the original plot. I guess the main difference is that the beast remains a beast. And yes, our Isla (the Belle) fornicates with him in the form of mystical creature.
Though the plot doesn’t surprise you any bits, it’s still enjoyable. The words are flowing, Isla and Beast developments are smooth and believable. One particular thing ...more

After her father didnt return from his supposed trip into town trip Isla at first wasnt to worried until her younger sister Elyse told her where he was really going, Highburn Hold. Their father was pickpocket but she never thought he would be foolish enough to go there, Isla go in search of her father to find him beaten and being held prisoner by the beast. Isla cant let her father die in the cold prison cell so she offer herself instead to the beast, if only she knew what that would mean. Isla

Great retelling of the classic beauty and the beast with a few twists and turns mixed with with dark touches such as a physical attack on Isla and attempted rape and an attack on the castle with lots of bloodshed and gore. Sensitive readers should take note.
