This book follows the story of Debra and Kelly and how they were able to survive and thrive in the tech industry with their goal of the book to be able inspire but to also give advice on how to make it in the world of tech. I love that this book follows the specific story of these two women, it allows you to gain a deeper understanding for what they went through than a more generalized one of books that cover stories from large groups of women. It follows a realistic story of two women who lived normal lives and didn’t go to a prestigious school that would give them a head start over other women. My only problem is that at times this book can feel a bit like a fantasy but i still very realistic. I would definitely recommend this book to those who feel discouraged if they could succeed or would be in the fight alone.

Some good advice for women in tech

This was more focused on people who fell into tech leadership than on those of us who love to code, but everyone got some air time. It is inclusive, and has thoughtful advice about how to thrive in technology as a woman.

I am a retired IT woman. I wish I would have mentors like these confident women to follow when I started out in the IT field. It is inspiring to read their stories and how they have persevered and STAYED in the tech field.
